Laxmi Organic kicks off its ₹600 crore IPO – should you subscribe?

<ul><li><keyword id="10930883" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="laxmi-organic">Laxmi Organic</keyword> made its debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at a premium of 21.5%.</li><li>The ₹600 crore IPO was subscribed to over 100 times.</li><li>At 10:15am, the share price settled at around ₹158.55 after hitting a low of ₹143.25.</li></ul>Laxmi Organic, the speciality chemicals manufacturer, made its debut on the stock market today. It got listed at ₹155.50 a share — 21% higher than the IPO issue price of ₹129 to ₹130 per share. The ₹600 crore IPO, which was subscribed <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/how-to-check-allotment-status-of-laxmi-organic-ipo/articleshow/81624672.cms">106.81 times</a> hit a low of ₹143.25 and a high of ₹161.70 within the first ten minutes of trading. At 10:15 am, the price settled at around ₹158.55. While the opening price was above the slated issue price, it is under the listing premium of 25% to 45% as expected by analysts. Prior to listing, the company’s shares were trading at ₹182 in the grey market, 21% higher than the IPO price, according to Unlisted Arena. What has investors excited about Laxmi Organic? The rally behind Laxmi Organic’s IPO stems from its dominance in the market. The company has been a player in large scale manufacturing of chemicals for over three decades and has been able to capture 30% of India’s ethyl acetate market. Ethyl acetate is a colourless liquid commonly used in glues, nail polish removers, and in the decaffeination process of tea and coffee. “Today’s event [the listing] has been an inevitability for Laxmi. Laxmi would have arrived at this point at some point in time” said Partha Roy Chowdhury, the chief financial officer for Laxmi, at the listing. The company has been the largest exporter of ethyl acetate from India in the six months ending in September 2020. And, since 2012, Laxmi Organic was one of the largest exporters of ethyl acetate to Europe from India. It's also the only player in the country to make diketene derivatives — used in the making of paper, pharmaceuticals, insecticides and dyes. With the new inflow of capital, the company plans on setting up a new manufacturing facility for fluoro speciality chemicals in addition to using the funds to meet its working capital requirements and upgrade existing units. Laxmi Organic lists at 21% premium — and continues to gain amid market volatility

The Tata Group-owned airline is using ChatGPT to analyse even some complex questions it may not be able to immediately answer to improve customer experience in later interactions and is helping it to become more attuned to natural language. In a release on Friday, Air India said it has become the world's first airline to have successfully deployed a Generative AI virtual agent '<keyword id="6388899" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="maharaja" source="Orion">Maharaja</keyword>', powered by Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service. The agent has successfully answered over half a million customer queries since its pilot launch in March 2023, and today manages over 6,000 queries a day in four languages, the release said. According to the airline, 'Maharaja' manages an extensive spectrum of customer queries across 1,300 areas, including those related to flight status, baggage allowances, packing restrictions, check-in, frequent flyer awards, airport lounge access, flight changes and refunds. The agent speaks Hindi, English, French, and German. "Of the 6,000-plus questions received each day, over 80 per cent are successfully answered in seconds. About 15 per cent of customer queries today require additional assistance, and Maharaja recognises this automatically and orchestrates a seamless handoff to Air India's contact centre agents," the release said. In the coming months, the airline plans to launch a host of sophisticated features, driven by patent-pending technologies. "This includes a novel user experience that changes the way customers interact with AI agents with a combination of textual and graphical interactions that can potentially further speed up customer interactions... Air India also plans to enhance the current AI agent with data-driven deep-personalisation capabilities," the release said. Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Air India, said that after the emergence of Large Language Model driven generative AI capabilities, it is increasingly seeing a definitive shift in guest preferences to use chat interactions to get the information and support they need quickly. Air India also said that generative AI solutions help automate repetitive and mundane tasks such as booking, cancellation and confirmation, and free up bandwidth for human agents to focus on more complex and value-adding interactions. The acquisition will allow CRED to enter the enterprise spending space. “While Happay will operate as a separate entity, the team will work closely with CRED leadership to leverage its ecosystem, build distribution, expand the product offering and drive scale,” CRED said in a press note. Shah, in the media statement, added that CRED has been able to grow rapidly in the last three years by solving the pain of credit card management. He added that now, professional expense management was a natural proposition for the company. Founded in 2012 by Varun Rathi and Anshul Rai, Happay is a business expense, payments and travel management platform serving over 6,000 businesses. It manages work-related expenses for over 1 million users globally with approximately $1 billion in annual spends. The company creates 3 million expense reports annually and counts TATA Grow, PwC, Maruti, OYO, Byjus and hundreds of larger enterprises as its customers. “Happay software stack and in-house payment engine, along with its ease of use, will complement the card management experience that CRED members enjoy for their personal expenses. It is the only unified platform that automates the spend management workflow, a trend that is set to explode in a contactless, paperless world, while ensuring compliance and visibility with an end-to-end audit trail,” the company said. In October 2021, CRED had acquired alcohol delivery startup <keyword id="4335663" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hipbar" source="Orion">HipBar</keyword> in order to foray into the wallet payments business with the prepaid payment instrument licence held by the company.
