"Responding to the COVID-19 crisis has put frontline healthcare personnel under a severe strain. Our helpline is an attempt to ease the pressure on hospitals and doctors, enable those in need to get treatment on priority, and equip citizens with useful and accurate medical information," Shah said. He added that the participation from Cognizant employees has expanded the helpline's reach across marginalised communities and areas with limited access to medical expertise. Before joining the helpline team, Cognizant's doctor volunteers took a two-week virtual training from Shah on various aspects of running a helpline, such as gathering information from callers, reading symptoms, and responding to various types of questions. Cognizant has over 2,700 medical professionals globally, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists who provide critical services such as pharmacovigilance, clinical data management, medical management and claims management, among others, to healthcare and life sciences organisations globally. The US-based company's healthcare and life sciences business revenue was about USD 4.7 billion and accounted for 28% of its overall topline for 2019. Under Cognizant's employee-led volunteering program Outreach, Cognizant employees are supporting several governmental and non-governmental organisations across India on COVID-19 initiatives. The company has about two lakh employees in India. Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Chairman and Managing Director at Cognizant India said most questions to date on the helpline have been about likely symptoms, self-isolation, diet, hygiene and testing of COVID-19. "Through the helpline, Cognizant volunteers have been able to provide non-prescriptive advice to marginalised and underserved communities as well," he added. Similarly, KONE Elevator India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Finland-based KONE Corporation, said it is offering its cloud technology for free to its customers operating medical facilities. The KONE 24/7 Connected Services technology can better predict, maintain and take action before breakage, thereby ensuring less equipment downtime and fewer faults, a statement said. Cognizant's doctors volunteer at Covid-19 helpline and address queries

New Delhi, Apr 11 () A hugely popular footballer in his home state of Kerala, India and Jamshedpur FC winger C S Vineeth has joined a government helpline centre there to advice people on how to face the COVID-19 pandemic. Vineeth, who has played for the national team and was a part of Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League 2019-20, was contacted by the Kerala Sports Council about the helpline in Kannur and he immediately jumped into the thick of things. "After I came back here (in Kerala), I got a call from the Kerala Sports Council, asking whether I would like to help with the COVID-19 helpline, so I joined in," Vineeth said. "Whatever little I could do to help during an emergency," he said in an All India Football Federation release. The 31-year-old, who is adored by fans in Kerala, said he intends to continue working at the helpline centre till the end of the lockdown. He began working at the centre on March 28. "The plan is that we would continue this help-line till the dangers of the Coronavirus are averted, and the lockdown comes to an end. The situation in Kerala is much-improved now, of course," the crafty winger said. Though Vineeth and his co-workers at the helpline centre were not directly in touch with people, they are taking all the precautions. "Of course, we are following the guidelines prescribed by the Government, while commuting to and from the call-centre," said Vineeth. "We are provided with gloves, masks, and sanitisers, which we use quite often. But those of us working here are not exactly exposed. We all just go home, and come here." The Jamshedpur FC attacker feels that the curve has indeed flattened in Kerala, with the number of cases going down over time. The number of calls that he has been getting have also decreased, since the time he started working at the centre. "Before, we used to get over 150 calls per day. Now, that number has gone down a lot. The number of cases are also going down in the state. We just need to stay strong and wade through these troubled times," Vineeth said. Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute has tied up with seven states -- Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Bihar -- for providing its Health Information Helpline - 104 in this COVID-19 crisis period. So far, the institute has received 2.5 lakh plus phone calls on this helpline platform and addressed callers' queries on coronavirus disease, the Piramal Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Piramal Group, said in a statement. On an average, the health helpline received around 20,000 calls in a day. The calls were received from seven states, but maximum were from Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh, it said.During this COVID-19 pandemic, the health helpline service has been acting as a channel between the governments and the communities by offering validated medical advice to the callers 24x7 every day.Piramal Swasthya said to deal with the increased number of calls, the frontline staff team has been significantly expanded as per state requirement. Currently, over 1,200 staff across various centres, which include paramedics, counsellors and doctors, are relentlessly attending to calls related to health advice, counselling, information sharing and reporting of COVID-19.Commenting about the helpline, Piramal Foundation CEO Paresh Parasnis said: "This initiative has helped in creating awareness thus bringing down the anxiety and fear in the society caused due to the coronavirus."The 104-health helpline proved to be a simple and yet effective tool to share validated information as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, especially for people who are not technology savvy or live in areas where access to media is challenging, he added. New Delhi, Apr 2 () Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Thursday launched a dedicated helpline number on WhatsApp to ensure that citizens have an easy access to credible information around the COVID-19 crisis."...the Health and Family Welfare Department of Government of NCT of Delhi has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline number - +91 88000 07722. This service is free-to-use and will act as a central source for accurate, trustworthy and up-to-date information on the ongoing pandemic," WhatsApp said in a statement.To use the helpline, users need to save the number in their phone contacts and then text 'Hi' in a WhatsApp message to get started. This service has been built on the WhatsApp Business API, using Infobip India and will be available in English. The total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 219 including four deaths. Overall, there are over 1,900 cases of the deadly pandemic that has caused more than 50 deaths across India. The WhatsApp helpline is an automated 'chatbot' service that will allow citizens to get verified answers to questions about coronavirus from the government health department within 24 hours, the statement said.The service will provide information on topics such as coronavirus prevention and symptoms along with tips on containment, other service helpline numbers, applying for e-passes and general information on measures that the government is taking to tackle this crisis, it added."The Delhi government is happy to partner with WhatsApp to establish a dedicated Coronavirus helpline for its residents to ensure that all your queries related to Coronavirus are answered with credible and accurate information. We are doing everything we can to keep our citizens safe in these challenging times and urge everyone to stay indoors and ensure they rely only on verified channels of information," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.WhatsApp India Head Abhijit Bose said the company's focus, at this time, is to make sure every citizen can access credible and accurate health related information."We value the opportunity to support the Government of Delhi and urge people to do their part by relying on authentic and official sources of information," he added.In addition to the MyGov central helpline, similar services have been introduced in several states of India to empower users to find credible information both in English and their specific regional language.Users can reach health ministries of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala on WhatsApp with more states to launch in the coming days, the statement said.
