However, the <keyword id="43588" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="world-health-organization" source="Orion">World Health Organization</keyword> (WHO) has not given the green signal to the home-made vaccine for emergency use. Bharat Biotech reportedly submitted all the phase trial results and required documents to the WHO by July 9. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) on COVID-19 examined the data and deliberated on the EUA application on Monday. "After detailed deliberation, the committee recommended grant of market authorisation of the vaccine for the age group of 2 to 18 years for restricted use in emergency situations subject to the certain conditions," the SEC recommendations stated. The recommendations have been forwarded to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for final approval. The company had presented its proposal for grant of market authorisation of its Whole Virion, Inactivated coronavirus Vaccine (BBV152) in the 2 to 18 years age group for restricted use in emergency situation along with the interim safety and immunogenicity data of phase 2/3 clinical trial conducted. The committee noted that the interim safety data of the phase 2/3 clinical trial was reviewed in a meeting on August 26, the sources said. The overall geometric mean titre (GMT) for the paediatric population is comparable with GMT of the adult population in phase -3 efficacy study, the recommendations stated. After detailed deliberation, the committee recommended the grant of market authorisation of the vaccine for the 2 to 18 years age group for restricted use in emergency situations subject to certain conditions, they stated. According to the conditions, the firm should continue the study as per the approved clinical trial protocol and provide updated prescribing information/package Insert (Pl), Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) and Factsheet, a source said. Besides, the firm should submit safety data, including the data on AEFI and AESI, with due analysis, every 15 days for the first two months and monthly thereafter and also as per requirement of New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019. Expert committee recommends Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for kids aged between 2-18 years

People who are above the age of 50 will be identified using the Lok Sabha voter list. India is ready to roll out COVID-19 vaccine for the masses within 10 days of approval, claims Health Ministry

<keyword id="1392572" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="automobile-dealers">Automobile dealers</keyword>' body FADA on Tuesday said <keyword id="762866" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="passenger-vehicle">passenger vehicle</keyword> (PV) retail sales in November witnessed a year-on-year increase of 4.17 per cent to 2,91,001 units as <keyword id="8202952" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="diwali-dhanteras">Diwali-Dhanteras</keyword> period led to rise in <keyword id="815780" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vehicle-registrations">vehicle registrations</keyword>. According to <keyword id="9396466" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="the-federation-of-automobile-dealers-associations">the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations</keyword> (FADA), which collected vehicle registration data from 1,265 out of the 1,472 regional transport offices (RTOs), PV sales stood at 2,79,365 units in November 2019. Two-wheeler sales, however, declined 21.4 per cent to 14,13,378 units last month, as compared to 17,98,201 units in November 2019. Commercial vehicle sales also slipped 31.22 per cent to 50,113 units, as against 72,863 units a year ago. Similarly, three-wheeler sales fell 64.98 per cent to 24,185 units last month, from 69,056 units in the year-ago period. Tractor sales, however, grew by 8.47 per cent to 49,313 units last month, against 45,462 units in the same month last year. Total sales across categories declined 19.29 per cent to 18,27,990 units last month, compared to 22,64,947 units in the year-ago period. "While registrations during Navratri were tepid, people came out in good numbers to purchase their dream vehicles during the Dhanteras - Diwali period," <keyword id="9993894" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="fada-president-vinkesh-gulati">FADA President Vinkesh Gulati</keyword> said. New launches and specially compact SUV's continued to show good demand in the PV segment, he added. The two-wheeler segment continued to witness a shift from 100cc to 125cc and above category due to good harvesting coupled with Dhanteras-Diwali and marriage season, Gulati said. Commenting on small goods commercial vehicles, he said the segment continued to see good demand with increased level of transportation and last-mile connectivity needs. With schools and colleges continuing to remain closed, demand for buses remains weak. Similarly, the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&amp;HCV) segment continues to play spoilsport with excessive capacity, high prices of BS-VI models, finance issues and high fuel price, Gulati noted. "FADA once again urges the government to increase infrastructure spending, including timely payment to vendors and introduce attractive incentive based scrappage policy to revive the M&amp;HCV segment," he added. On sales outlook, Gulati said with the festive season coming to a close, demand revival now solely depends on year-end schemes. "If the supply chain issues in the passenger vehicle segment are controlled, we may see continued growth in December," he added. Gulati also cautioned the two-wheeler Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and dealers to keep a check on vehicle inventory as post festivals, demand may remain subdued. NBCC State-owned construction firm National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) in a regulatory filing said it had bagged a contract worth ₹325 crore last month. So far, one person died on Sunday. Nearly 450 residents were hospitalised with complaints of giddiness, while <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/india/story/andhra-pradesh-eluru-mysterious-disease-cause-chemical-pesticides-update-1747655-2020-12-08">263 were discharged </a>after fully recovering, since Saturday Most of the cases of <keyword id="10387844" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="eluru-disease">Eluru disease</keyword> reported were from Kobbari Thota, Kothapeta, Toorpu Veedhi and Arundhatipeta districts. The cause of the sickness is yet to be determined. However, officials believe that poisonous organic substances could be the most likely cause of the disease. A central team was also scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh to investigate a mysterious disease. According to an office memorandum issued by the Union Health Ministry on Monday, the team comprising Dr Jamshed Nayar, Associate Professor (Emergency Medicine), AIIMS, Dr Avinash Desohtawar, Virologist, NIV, Pune and Dr Sanket Kulkarni, Deputy Director, PH, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) were slated to reach Eluru today. The authorities have readied over 100 additional beds at Eluru Government Hospital in preparation for more potential patients being admitted. What are the symptoms of Eluru disease? Authorities said the <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/1-dead-hundreds-take-ill-what-we-know-about-eluru-mystery-disease-so-far/story-NS6B5QhWDJNOIhKc017RVJ.html">symptoms </a>persisted for 10 to 15 minutes and a majority of the people had recovered within a few minutes. However, at least seven were shifted to the government hospital on Sunday for better treatment. Excessive amounts of heavy metals such as lead and nickel were found in the blood samples of patients. "We found lead and nickel in the blood samples in excess amounts. This can be one of the causes. We are sending more samples to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi," Himanshu Shukla, joint collector, West Godavari district told IANS. He said scientists were suspecting these heavy metals were causing the mysterious ailment that has already affected hundreds. Shukla said water and milk have already been tested for these metals and their absence in them has ruled them out to be a cause. "So definitely it is not water and milk. It can be other things. Already we have covered vegetables if they could be a source and there are multiple other sources like sweets," said Shukla. Helpline for Eluru disease The District Medical and Health Officer (DM&amp;HO) Dr Sunanda assured people that the recovery rate is good, and there is no need for panic. The district authorities have also set up a helpline unit at the Eluru municipal office.
