More people are browsing the net and staying online to pass time. Bad guys aren’t any different. They’re also adapting to the new reality and taking advantage of the situation to launch cyber attacks veiled as innocent information. The true threat of these bad actors has little to do with technology but more to do with how humans are using the internet during the pandemic, according to Ryan Olson who heads Unit 42 of Palo Alto Networks threat intelligence team. Although not all of them are malicious, it’s recommended to treat any new site with a healthy suspicion. Despite many claiming to have testing kits, pandemic related information or a cure — the fact that they didn’t exist until very recently is a good reason to be skeptical, according to Olson. The same applies for mobile applications as well. Most people are looking for information on how Coronavirus will impact their lives and how they can stay safe, on their smartphones. Olson believes the best way to protect yourself is to make sure that whatever new application you install is either for the Google Play Store or the App Store. Since people are paying more attention to alerts and notifications that read Covid-19, attackers are using the opportunity to send malicious messages with clickbait phishing links. This is not restricted to one particular type of malware or event campaign. It is a diversified net of attacks looking to spread. Coronavirus is the new clickbait — Here’s how to keep it from infecting your machines

The Defence Research Development Organisation has developed a prototype ventilator that can be used for multiple patients, its chief <keyword id="3051242" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satheesh-Reddy">Satheesh Reddy</keyword> said on Monday, amid a spike in the number of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> cases in the country. He added the model is being improved to include changes suggested by medical researchers and doctors and the new version should be ready by next week. "We are attempting to take the output of one ventilator. The mechanism makes it usable for multiple patients. We have developed the first model. We have seen it is working. There are some medical researchers, doctors who have advised us to incorporate features. We are working on it," he said. Reddy said this is a "last-minute resort" if the number of coronavirus patients increases and there is shortage of ventilators. "By next week it should be ready with the suggestions made by the doctors and medical researchers," he said. The DRDO has prepared ventilator designs in the past and passed it on to the industry. Separately, the <keyword id="210071" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Health">Ministry of Health</keyword> said the DRDO will begin manufacturing 20,000 N-95 masks per day from next week. The ministry has also asked the Bharat Electronics Ltd, a public-sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, to manufacture 30,000 ventilators in next two months. Among private players, Agva Healthcare, Noida, has been given an order to manufacture 10,000 ventilators within a month. Their supplies are expected to commence in the second week of April, the ministry said in a tweet. DRDO is stepping in to build ventilators and manufacture masks

The Delhi government on Monday asked the <keyword id="6365858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="hospitals">hospitals</keyword> in the national capital to form a media cell to monitor the social media and news. The direction from the <keyword id="1108395" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-health-department">Delhi Health Department</keyword> came on Monday after there were reports that there are a large number of social media messages regarding the functioning of state-run hospitals. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau continues self-isolation after wife recovers

Saudi Arabia imposes 24-hour curfew on Mecca, Medina as a measures against Coronavirus

Hit by the coronavirus crisis and the nation-wide lockdown, the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has urged landlords in the food and beverage (F&amp;B) or restaurant industry to waive their rents and the common area maintenance charges till June or till the lockdown lasts. In an open letter to the landlords in the food and beverage (F&amp;B) business, the industry body representing over 5 lakh restaurants said that although the shutdown may remain for a month two, the industry will take many more months to revive. "While this shutdown may continue for a month or two, we will take many more months post that to get back on our feeta and we will not be able to sail through this period smoothly without your support," said the letter NRAI also sought that the common area maintenance charge should be taken at 50 per cent of the agreed rate for the six months after the lockdown ends. It also said that there should not be "minimum guaranteed rents for six months post that and instead work on a pure revenue share equivalent to 50 per cent of the agreed terms up to a maximum of 10 per cent of monthly revenues." NRAI President Anurag Katriar said: "This appeal is aimed at ensuring our mere survival during such extraordinarily troubled times. We aren't trying to be profiteer at the expense of the landlords. As long-standing business partners of ours, we are hopeful that the landlords will extend their support in these times of unprecedented crisis." The industry body, last week wrote to the Finance Minister seeking economic relief for the restaurant industry in view of the disruption caused by the coronavirus scare in the country. Acknowledging the recent relief measures by the government including the deferment of GST return filings, he said that the sector would require a larger stimulus package to revive the sector and support its over 70 lakh employees. "We will need a much bigger stimulus package from the government whenever we get back to the stage of rebooting our business," he said.
