We still have no treatments that have been approved for <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="covid-19">COVID-19</keyword>, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. This week in particular, there were a lot of developments on the treatment front, and <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/author/andrew-dunn">Andrew Dunn</a> was there to cover it all. Monday morning, we learned that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-treatment-trial-results-for-regeneron-and-sanofis-kevzara-2020-4">Kevzara, an anti-inflammatory arthritis drug made by Regeneron, suffered a setback,</a> with researchers narrowing their scope to only the sickest COVID-19 patients. Full results from that trial are due out in June.Also on Monday, we spoke to researchers based out of Northwell <keyword id="6354750" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="health">Health</keyword> here in New York who are studying whether <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/northwell-trial-heartburn-medicine-famotidine-pepcid-coronavirus-2020-4">high doses of famotidine</a> — you might know it as the heartburn medication <keyword id="9131248" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="pepcid">Pepcid</keyword> — might help in treating severely ill COVID-19 patients.Before you make a run for the medication: Keep in mind, they're administering a high dose to hospitalized patients intravenously for seven to 10 days. And there's no evidence yet that it works.<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/northwell-trial-heartburn-medicine-famotidine-pepcid-coronavirus-2020-4">You can read more about the famotidine trial here.</a>It's one of dozens of drugs being repurposed to treat the coronavirus, along with the antimalarial medication hydroxychloroquine and the experimental antiviral <keyword id="8775508" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="remdesivir">remdesivir</keyword> that was initially developed to treat Ebola (more on that in a minute)There are also efforts to find new medications to treat COVID-19, Andrew reports.One effort he covered this week is the race to find antibody therapeutics. There are drugs that use the body's own disease-fighting proteins (antibodies) as a way to treat people sickened with the novel coronavirus. They could be available as soon as this fall. <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-antibody-treatments-eli-lilly-regeneron-gsk-amgen-2020-4">You can read more about the antibody drug development efforts underway here. </a> OK, now back to remdesivir. This was a pretty big week for the experimental drug. On Wednesday, we got an initial look at the best data yet on remdesivir, which is made by biotech giant Gilead.An NIH found that hospitalized patients who got the drug recovered 31% faster than those taking the placebo. But on Instagram, those posts could still appear in user feeds - even though they were removed from the Explore and Discover sections of the app.In the case of COVID-19 posts, Instagram is working with health authorities to identify and remove any posts with "the potential to cause harm to people who believe them." Those posts are being outright removed from users' feeds rather than flagged with warning labels.The end result, Instagram said, would be to promote "credible information throughout our app" during the ongoing pandemic. It's among several initiatives Facebook and its subsidiaries have undertaken as COVID-19 has rapidly spread around the world. Instagram is targeting fake coronavirus news and finally taking disinformation and hoaxes seriously

Reuters<ul class="summary-list"><li>Magna Global, an ad-buying agency owned by Interpublic Group, is recommending advertisers stop avoiding news about the coronavirus as the topic becomes harder for brands to advertise around, according to an internal document obtained by Business Insider.</li><li>The agency says that brand-safety companies like Integral Ad Science are blocking a "significant" amount of ad space as a result of blocklisting the term coronavirus, causing ad prices to rise and financially squeezing news publishers.</li><li>Magna Global is also advising brands to avoid ads showing things like kissing or people at concerts that contradict guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization.</li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/prime?module=article&amp;area=summary">Click here for more BI Prime stories</a>.</li></ul>As the amount of media coverage about coronavirus grows, one of the largest advertising holding companies is recommending that advertisers stop trying to distance themselves from the pandemic.On March 12, Interpublic Group-owned ad-buying agency Magna Global said brands should not block the words coronavirus or COVID-19 when making digital ad buys, according to an internal document that was obtained by Business Insider. The agency also encouraged advertisers to not avoid words adjacent to coronavirus like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO)."We can appreciate that recommending that clients do not avoid COVID-19 and coronavirus coverage may seem at odds with brand safety," reads the document. "However, this is a unique and difficult time for marketers, and if coronavirus becomes the new normal, avoidance of advertising in or around the topic will not be sustainable. This is why it's important to lean in now and navigate the challenges rather than avoid the issue."A spokesperson for Magna Global declined to comment.<h2>It's getting harder for advertisers to avoid coronavirus-related news</h2>Many advertisers regularly keep block lists of words that they don't want their ads to appear next to, like breaking news, controversial, or graphic content. Agencies use adtech firms like Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify to verify that their ads don't show up next to content containing the blocked words.But Magna Global's document suggests that as coronavirus news grows and adtech vendors block significant ad inventory associated with the virus, it's becoming hard for advertisers to find inventory. The document specifically mentions Integral Ad Science. On March 9, <a href="https://digiday.com/media/coronavirus-climbs-keyword-block-lists-squeezing-news-publishers-programmatic-revenues/">Digiday reported</a> that data from Integral Ad Science found that the word coronavirus was the second-most common word on news publishers' block lists, behind Trump.The document lists two problems with blocking coronavirus-related content:<ul><li>The agency says that "it discourages publishers to provide the public with important and factual information."</li><li>Avoiding coronavirus content has created an opportunity for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-2020-sellers-seek-to-capitalize-on-face-mask-demand-2020-3">opaque advertisers like face mask brands</a> to buy ad space on news publishers.</li></ul>"This is having a negative effect on the industry," reads Magna's document. "Across all publishers, we have observed that blocking the terms results in a significant amount of inventory being flagged as unsafe, to the point where no ads are running on pages."The document also said blocking coronavirus-related terms is causing ad prices to increase, though it's not clear to what extent."Coronavirus is the Black Swan event of 2020 and we are seeing both advertisers and publishers seeking guidance on how to best navigate this situation," Tony Marlow, chief marketing officer of Integral Ad Science, said in a statement. "Consumers are telling us that not all industries are the same when it comes to ad adjacency to coronavirus news. They are very open to online marketing messages adjacent to coronavirus content from health, pharmaceutical and government, but are far less open to seeing similar ads from some other verticals such as travel and finance."<h2>Magna Global recommends clients to tweak their ad messages</h2>Magna Global also advised brands to run public service announcement-like ads called "brand responsibility" ads, which can include information and links about a company's response to coronavirus.Many brands including retailers and restaurants have been updating their websites and sent emails this week informing customers how they are handling coronavirus. Leaked document shows that a top ad agency is advising marketers to stop avoiding advertising around coronavirus-related content

By Gurdip Singh Singapore, Apr 11 () Fifty-one Indian nationals working in Singapore are among the 191 new coronavirus cases reported on Saturday, taking the total number of the COVID-19 patients in the city-state to 2,299.The Health Ministry said that a 90-year-old Singaporean man died from complications due to COVID-19 infection on Saturday morning, taking the total number of death due to the virus to eight.All 191 new patients contracted the virus locally, it said, adding that 51 infections were connected to dormitories for foreign workers.The first case from the dormitories was reported on March 29. Thirty-one COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions in the intensive care units out of the 943 hospitalized.Thirty-five patients have been discharged from hospitals or placed in community isolation facilities as of Saturday, the ministry said.In all, 528 patients have fully recovered, it added.Fourteen additional cases are linked to infected people from the Indian origin mega store Mustafa Centre, which has been declared a cluster with a total of 78 confirmed cases. The store has been shut down for disinfection. Singapore authorities are working to improve the living conditions in dormitories and relocating workers in other accommodations, including empty Housing Development Board flats and Army facilities, according to local media reports. 51 Indians among 191 news coronavirus cases in Singapore

Facebook is blocking users from posting some legitimate news articles about the coronavirus in what appears to be a bug in its spam filters.On Tuesday, multiple Facebook users reported on Twitter that they found themselves unable to post articles from certain news outlets including Business Insider, BuzzFeed, The Atlantic, and the Times of Israel. It's not clear exactly what has gone wrong, and Facebook did not respond to a request for comment.In the face of the mounting COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook has sent many of its content moderators home, saying it will rely more on automated software instead. Alex Stamos, an outspoken former Facebook security exec, speculated that this shift might be to blame."It looks like an anti-spam rule at FB is going haywire," he wrote on Twitter. "Facebook sent home content moderators yesterday, who generally can't [work from home] due to privacy commitments the company has made. We might be seeing the start of the [machine learning going nuts with less human oversight."Facebook denied that the bug was related to any changes to its content moderator workforce.In a tweet, VP of Integrity Guy Rosen said: "We're on this - this is a bug in an anti-spam system, unrelated to any changes in our content moderator workforce. <ul><li>While technology has enabled a lot of work from the newsroom to be carried out remotely, there still are few people who need to work out of studios or venture out to report.</li><li>All media organizations are taking utmost care to keep the buildings sanitized, informing employees constantly about precautions and coming up with ways to ensure more people can work remotely.</li><li>In such a scenario, technology has become an enabler and is helping in ensuring there is minimal impact on the continuity of business.</li></ul> As more and more cases of <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">Coronavirus</keyword> are being detected across the country, most organizations are making a move towards a work from home arrangement, asking employees to work remotely. However, when it comes to journalism, it is difficult to stay away from the action. According to a CNN report, employees of several news organizations have been infected by the virus. Closer home, we have been much more successful in containing the virus so far with 166 reported cases and 4 deaths. However, with repeated calls for social distancing, how are our newsrooms, especially news channels functioning, considering a lot of their work happens out of studios, which makes it difficult for certain employees to work remotely? We reached out to a few prominent news channels in the country that told us how they are exercising caution to ensure their employees are not put at any risk. The <keyword id="2920051" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Times-Network">Times Network</keyword> introduced work from home a week back and close to 65% of its employees are currently working remotely. Talking about how it has been working so far, S Srivathsan, EVP &amp; Head – Human Resources, Times Network said, “We at Times Network were one of the first to introduce WFH as we had worked on this plan a week ago. 65% of our workforce is at home and our productivity has not been impacted.
