These Google Maps pics show how some of the most crowded places in India are at least half empty in Unlock 1.0

<keyword id="6355629" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="google">Google</keyword> on Monday said it has started showing the locations of food shelters and night shelters in cities across India on its services like Maps, to help people especially migrant workers find relief centers with ease. The tech giant said it is working closely with state and central government authorities to surface the locations of these relief centres. "As the COVID-19 situation develops, we are making a concerted effort to build solutions that help people during these times of need," Anal Ghosh, Senior Programme Manager, Google India, said in a statement. "Highlighting the locations of food and night shelters on <keyword id="97416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google-maps">Google Maps</keyword> is a step to make this information easily available to the users in need, and ensure they can avail the food and shelter services being provided by the government authorities," Ghosh said. People can now find these locations in 30 cities at the moment on Google Maps, Search and Google Assistant. This will soon be available in Hindi, Google said, adding that the company is working towards making the facility available in other Indian languages over the coming weeks, as well as adding additional shelters in more cities across the country. People can also enter the above queries into Google Search, or ask their Google Assistant on smartphones or on a KaiOS device. In the coming days, it will become even easier to access this feature, with features like quick-access shortcuts that will appear beneath the search bar on the Google Maps app, shortcuts on Google Maps on KaiOS feature phones, and food and night shelter pins appearing on the map by default when the Maps app is first opened, Google said. "With the help of volunteers, NGOs, and traffic authorities, we hope to convey this important information to the affected people, many of whom may not have access to a smartphone or mobile device during this time," informed Ghosh. Google Maps is also offering user location data to help public health officials spot increase or decrease of movement across high-level categories of places — such as retail and recreation, groceries and pharmacies, parks, transit stations, workplaces and residential areas. Health officials in India can go to the 'COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports' website, pick the country and download a PDF that charts the community movements.

 According to chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, over 500 such relief camps have been set up to help those without a place to go and no supplies to tide them through the lockdown. Each municipality should, on average, have at least two shelters.

The blue pins indicated schools that have been turned into shelters and the red pins are the government-owned camps. Clicking on a pin will reveal the address of a particular shelter. Once you’ve selected the relief center, since its a Google Map, you can also click on directions to see the best possible route to reach a particular camp. Custom Google Maps in Delhi lead the way to relief centres with shelter and food

<ul><li>Like most businesses dependent on retail and delivery, <keyword id="2200852" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mondelez-India">Mondelez India</keyword>'s business was impacted too in the first few weeks of the lockdown, considering the complete closure of retail stores, super markets and e-commerce.</li><li>However, with the gradual relaxation of the lockdown, things are slowly picking up. </li><li><keyword id="1825451" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anil-Viswanathan">Anil Viswanathan</keyword>, Director – <keyword id="6354839" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="marketing">Marketing</keyword> (Chocolates), Mondelez India tells us how the importance of agility has been one of his major learning from this experience. He also tells us all that the brand is doing to ensure business continuity and the safety of all its stakeholders.</li><li>He also tells us the brand's broad marketing strategy and how things will be different in the post-Covid world.</li></ul> Dirk Van de Put, Mondelez’s global chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), during a recent investor call, spoke about the impact of the initial phase of the lockdown when the confectionary major saw almost zero sales, according to reports. Mondelez, like most other organizations, experienced disruptions in the initial phase due to strict lockdown which led to widespread trade closures and operational and distribution difficulties. However, with the easing of restrictions, shops opening up and online grocery platforms delivering again, people have been ordering more and more snacking products. As people spend more time at home and with family, there has been a steep increase in the demand of chocolates, biscuits and beverages. According to Anil Viswanathan, Director – Marketing (Chocolates), Mondelez India, there has been a perceptible shift in buying patterns of consumers. “There has been an increase in demand for packaged food items. As most of us are stranded in the confines of four walls, in-home munching is gaining momentum and we foresee a spike in demand for snack items,” he said. As things are slowly falling back in place, we caught up with Viswanathan to understand how Mondelez as a brand, dealt with the adverse situation. We also try to understand how the rest of the year looks. We also try to understand how the brand was able to stay connected with its consumers, and how things will be different, in the post-Covid world. Excerpts: Q) Considering the initial weeks of lockdown was a complete closure of trade and production units, how were the past few weeks for you as a brand? What has the brand’s focus been? Over the last few months, we have all experienced the importance of availability, safety and convenience of packaged foods in times of lockdown. Our products are an integral part of the consumer’s grocery basket. We’ve seen consumers seek out our trusted brands like Cadbury, <keyword id="6384472" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="oreo">Oreo</keyword>, <keyword id="6398866" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bournvita">Bournvita</keyword> and Tang – especially as they spend more time with family at home and need treats like their favourite chocolate, biscuit or beverage. Like all companies, we did experience some disruptions in the initial phase due to strict lockdowns that caused widespread trade closures as well as operational and distribution difficulties. However, we’re seeing significant easing of the situation on ground as our manufacturing scales up and our sales and distribution network can more easily service the market. I’m very proud of how our teams geared up to meet these unprecedented challenges - so, while we have experienced a short-term disruption, business is getting back on track. Our focus through all of this has been on our people – firstly, protecting our sales and manufacturing colleagues who have been at the frontline even during the lockdown and ensuring they stay safe and secondly, through continuous engagement with our colleagues working remotely. Our utmost priority has always been to build a resilient system that will enable us to maintain good service levels across channels. Understanding that time and safety are the essence of the moment, we have cautiously configured ways such as direct to consumer storefront, strategic partnerships etc. We are also working directly with hypermarkets to negate any possible time lag or safety risks for the consumers. As far as the exigent demands are concerned, we’re leveraging the strong relationship we have with our suppliers in order to maintain consistent supplies of critical raw materials and packaging. Additionally, we’re constantly working with the central and local government bodies to keep our factories open during the lockdown and have reconfigured our supply chain network to fortify our routes to reach the consumers. Correspondingly, our staff across factories and our agile workforce at the back-end are all working dedicatedly to maintain good service levels. Considering the pandemic and the challenges that followed, it is important more than ever to have consistency in production and a well-thought-out RTM (Routes-to-market) strategy to ensure shelf visibility across channels. Q) As the pandemic led to people stuck inside their homes, did you witness any interesting consumer trends? Were people ordering more chocolates during the lockdown, maybe to tackle the stress? We are starting to see a steep rise in demand for chocolates in the last one month after a slow start at the beginning of the lockdown. This is at the back of increased in-house snacking which has taken precedence as part of the ritual of spending more time with family or with oneself. Amplified social media influence has also triggered a trend wherein homebound consumers are now increasingly looking at ways to indulge in or create-at-home eating experiences and in doing so, they are predominantly relying on brands like Cadbury, for superior quality and the assurance of safety. This has resulted in increased demand which is further fuelled by the rise in online shopping. With lockdown and the new norms of social distancing, the market and the consumption pattern of consumers are significantly leaning towards e-commerce, as health and safety has become a non-negotiable priority for people. Q) With people getting more time to stay at home, almost everybody is experimenting with cooking/baking. We have seen a lot of brands take up this opportunity and use content marketing as an effective tool to stay connected with consumers by hosting cooking classes/using chefs to share recipes etc. How have you been communicating with your consumers during the lockdown? Considering the ongoing scenario, we have reconfigured our communication strategy to adapt to this lockdown phase. We are leveraging our innovation arm to connect and communicate with our consumers in a light-hearted manner. With Cadbury 5Star, we directed the proposition towards a larger purpose of encouraging consumers to stay indoors by creating a distraction in the consumer’s life and help them breakaway from the monotony of daily life. We curated a Cadbury 5Star campaign namely #5StarDoNothingOutside challenge in order to generate some light-hearted content and at the same time equip consumers to better live the new way of life by reimaging their outdoor activities in the indoor space. <keyword id="570619" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cadbury-Dairy-Milk">Cadbury Dairy Milk</keyword> released a heart-warming film encouraging consumers to stay in and celebrate all those moments of joy with your loved ones. On the other hand, with Oreo where playfulness was always a part of the brand’s DNA, the lockdown provided an opportunity to naturally advance the legacy and help consumers steer away from the pandemic gloom. Through the ‘#AtHomeWithOreo’ campaign, the brand wanted to showcase to the world that even if you are locked-down, the world is as playful as we make it. As the lockdown continues, we aim to amplify our connect with the consumers through our campaigns and provide them avenues to keep their innovation plug sparking. Q) How are you, as an organization, preparing to tackle the post-Covid world? The retail space might see a complete overhaul, so will you increase focus on online/e-commerce channels? Although we are already complying with the new normal where daily processes and operations have significantly changed, we believe the reconfiguration in the coming months will be even more rigorous. However, any change in plans, partnerships and processes will be undertaken keeping the interest of our people and consumers at the core. The retail space will witness an overhaul, but traditional outlets will not lose its position on the network map given the system’s ability to reach the deepest pockets of the country with convenience. However, the spotlight will be on e-commerce. There is a definite shift in the traditional shopping habit of individuals fueled by the fear of stepping out into crowded places, which favored the growing appetite for online shopping in the country. A trend which will be taking precedence even in the post COVID-19 world considering that health and safety will be a non-negotiable priority for people going forward. Keeping this in mind, we are strengthening our efforts in this space by changing the nature of our partnerships and pushing several of our sales and marketing activities through e-commerce platforms. Having said that, we believe the role of physical retail stores cannot be negated and the traditional route will retain primacy in our layout, but the key to success will lie in building a resilient system by adopting a balanced approach amongst all conduits. Q) Cadbury Dairy Milk has been using 'Generosity' as a global theme in its communication. You also launched limited-edition Thank You bars during the lockdown. How else have you been spreading this message to your consumers? Purpose resides at the very core of our business which we are fostering today by evoking the spirit of generosity with Cadbury Dairy Milk. Since the progressive journey of Cadbury Dairy Milk in India has been nothing but a blend of emotions for close to 75 years, the cultural infusion that the brand holds only made it a natural choice for us to push our generosity agenda. The aim was to address social issues by conceptualizing purpose-driven campaign. We started with the campaign ‘The Wrapper that Gives’ to address the issue of lack of resources in the rural areas. Through this campaign, consumers could click a photo of an empty wrapper of Cadbury Dairy Milk and choose to either keep the data offered for themselves or donate to Pratham Education Foundation who ensured that the collected data reached the right schools to carry out the internet enabled learning activities among children. The Purple Heart Campaign addressed the impending issue of cyber bullying. It was based on the idea of standing up for each other and expressing solidarity with victims by replying with the ‘Purple Heart’ emoticon in response to every troll comment on the victim’s timeline, along with the hashtag #HeartTheHate. And the recent example of infusing generosity has been the launch of limited-edition Cadbury Dairy Milk ‘Thank You’ bar in recognition of the relentless spirit of health care workers who are battling it out at the frontline, as well as the ancillary staff, whether ambulance driver or IT personnel, who are enabling seamless operations at hospitals, at all times. The campaign came full circle with the part of sale proceeds committed towards health insurance policies of the daily wage earners, via a partnership with Nirmana, an NGO that works with the unorganized sector. Q) While it might still be difficult to predict, do you anticipate business to get back on track within the next few months? In the initial days of the lockdown, most industries witnessed a slump in sales and production, as consumers predominantly focused on staples and essential items. However, the packaged food industry has weathered the storm and has slowly started observing signs of an uptick in consumer demand. At Mondelez India, we have witnessed a perceptible shift in buying patterns of consumers and an increase in demand for packaged food items. As most of us are stranded in the confines of four walls, in-home munching is gaining momentum and we foresee a spike in demand for snack items. Consumers have started becoming more vigilant and cautious about safety and hygiene, hence naturally leaning towards brands they have trusted for years. Q) What have been your key learnings from this experience so far? We have learned that agility will be the primary factor dominating all operations for brands to align themselves with unanticipated challenges and opportunities that influences the consumer’s consumption/demand graph. Case in example being the increased in-home consumption which has not only led us to reinvent our supply chain network that now includes direct deliveries to housing societies,but also change our communication directive considering many consumers are taking reference from social media to create new eat experiences at home. Therefore, even the communication plans require a re-haul where with drastic change in customer’s motivation and paths to purchase, it has become imperative to adopt a focused approach to ensure that every message is relevant to the current times with empathy residing at its core. This will further help in reinforcing the emotional connect with our consumers who are closely observing the brand’s reaction and their critical role in combating the pandemic. Consequently, paving way for purpose-led marketing which will command better impact and resonance. Hence, the need of the hour will be to innovate every step of the way, be it externally or internally,to keep the business engine running hot.

 However, critics believe that the theory doesn’t hold water. AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria told <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/no-correlation-between-temperature-variations-and-coronavirus-spread-experts/articleshow/74560907.cms">ET</a> that humidity — and air, in general — help the virus grow but that doesn’t necessarily imply that any increase in temperature results in a reduction. The study — led by Mohammad Sajadi at the Institute of Human Virology — acknowledges that there are many other factors that could impact how the virus spreads.  It also points out that it’s not uncommon for infectious diseases to show a seasonal pattern as they spread. Influenza is a characteristic example of how a virus shows a significant fluctuation in temperate regions but less seasonality in more tropical areas. The map is only a preliminary guide for a more comprehensive predictive model to be developed. It should be able to take into account climate, weather and their variations as well as play our simulations dictated by human interaction — like travel and population density. What does the map show? The map shows that the biggest coronavirus outbreaks have been where the temperatures are between five to 11 degrees Celcius and the humidity ranges between 47-79%. The region that fits those requirements is highlighted by the yellow band. Within the yellow band, are all the countries with the highest reported cases of the coronavirus. It shows that the outbreak failed to spread significantly to countries immediately to the south of China. Furthermore, the number of patients and reported deaths in Southeast Asia were fewer in comparison to temperate regions in cooler climates. “In addition to having similar average temperature, humidity, and latitude profiles, these locations also exhibit commonality in the timing of the outbreak coincides with a nadir [lowest temperatures] in the yearly temperature cycle,” the study explained. However, since none of the affected cities so far have temperatures that dipped below freezing, it’s possible that the coronavirus is also susceptible to a minimum range. “All of these point to a potential direct relationship between temperature and SARS-CoV-2 environmental survival and spreading,” says the study. Where is the coronavirus headed next? Given how the coronavirus outbreak has spread so far, the study believes that cities in the Northern Hemisphere — including like London, Berlin and New York — are at high risk going forward. It is thrilling to see so many states opening back up. But we can see it's still going to be a long time until things are completely back to normal - especially in some regions. Q) Why was there a need for a tool like this? What kind of challenges have brands and marketers been facing so far that can be solved by the tool? Post the Covid-19 sucker punch there's a constant confusion on shooting guidelines across the country and brands, agencies &amp; content creators are clueless about where they can shoot and to what extent. So something like this helps bridge the knowledge gap and also guide the creators to the right region and vice versa. Besides this, the Covid-19 guidelines and SOPS are extremely decentralized across the country. The virus spread is continuously fluctuating and so are the guidelines in different states. This makes it confusing to keep track of the lockdown guidelines all across. We intend to get all this info in one place and keep updating it regularly. Q) What are some other larger challenges in the content marketing space and how are you addressing them? The pandemic will change how we do content production forever. Creators, Studios and networks are confronting how they can safely resume filming, a process that involves bringing together large groups of people in confined spaces for extended periods. Now, imagine making a romantic comedy in which no one can kiss, or an action movie in which the villain stays six feet from the hero. On top of this, the government has passed the order that only 33% crew will be used currently and strict safety guidelines to be followed on set. So everyone is trying to shoot in residential spaces, on their iPhones with remote direction and approvals over video calls. Besides this the markets are low and the budgets have taken a hit. With the month of April, May &amp; June being a wash out, everyone is trying to make survival possible within the budget clients have. Now, more than ever, we need diversity in storytelling and execution. Some people will see a link at the top of News Feed to an optional, off-Facebook survey to help health researchers better monitor and forecast the spread of COVID-19, the social networking platforms said in a statement late Monday. "This information can help health systems plan where resources are needed and potentially when, where and how to reopen parts of society. If the results are helpful, we'll make similar surveys available in other parts of the world," said Facebook. Facebook said the Carnegie Mellon researchers will not share individual survey responses with Facebook, and "Facebook won't share information about who you are with the researchers". As part of 'Data for Good' programme, Facebook offers maps on population movement that researchers and nonprofits are already using to understand the <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> crisis, using aggregated data to protect people's privacy. Facebook asks for users' data to generate COVID-19 'heat maps'

<ul><li>The Indian Space Research Organisation (<keyword id="6358064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro">ISRO</keyword>) is currently working on the highest resolution 3D map of the Moon to date. </li><li><keyword id="414120" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrayaan-2">Chandrayaan 2</keyword>’s orbiter is using a combination of four instruments to capture details of what’s on and below the lunar surface. </li><li>ISRO submitted its initial observations and analysis to the 51st Lunar and Planetary Science Conference 2020. </li></ul>Even though India’s Chandrayaan 2 mission wasn’t a complete success — with its lander <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/chandrayaan-2s-lander-vikram-found-on-the-moon-but-isro-suspects-hard-landing/articleshow/71035718.cms">crash landing</a> on the Moon — it’s still powering through to deliver a few gems. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is using the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/science/space/news/isro-shares-first-discovery-from-chandrayaan-2-orbiter/articleshow/71435228.cms">pictures captured by the orbiter</a> to create the highest resolution 3D map of Moon till date. At its highest resolution, the OHRC can <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/chandrayaan-2s-orbiter-has-seven-and-a-half-years-to-scan-the-surface-of-the-moon/articleshow/71027327.cms">capture images</a> at 0.25 meters per pixel. The only other instrument surveilling Earth’s natural satellite that comes anywhere close is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) that can capture <keyword id="8914329" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pictures-of-the-moon">pictures of the Moon</keyword> at 0.5 meters per pixel. A wide range of direct flights between midsize markets and international hubs made this even easier, with myriad partnerships between US carriers and global airlines opening the world, both through alliances, and one-off partnerships and code shares.Over the course of a short few weeks in 2020, that interconnected network collapsed.As <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/airlines-american-delta-southwest-united-bookings-cancellations-load-factors-2020-5">America's airlines see travel demand beginning to ramp back up</a>, they're cautiously pulling <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/delta-retire-boeing-777-coronavirus-2020-5">grounded aircraft</a> back into service, and restoring capacity on their domestic networks.Their international networks, however, are another story.<keyword id="88011" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="american-airlines">American Airlines</keyword>, for instance, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-airlines-july-domestic-admirals-club-lounges-interview-2020-6">plans to fly 55% of its domestic capacity in July</a>, compared to 2019. But the airline will only fly 20% international flights, and many of those are expected to fly fairly empty — good for social distancing, but bad for the airline.Airlines won't be able to truly build back their international networks until demand returns, and demand won't come back in full force until various travel restrictions, border closures, and quarantine requirements are lifted. That isn't likely happen until the pandemic is brought more under control — something much of the world, including the US, is still struggling to accomplish.As international travel does return over the next few years, networks and route options will look very different compared to the 2010s. <h2>Massive cuts and dismantling during the pandemic will mean a massive rebuilding effort</h2>With airlines cutting anywhere from 50% to 90% of their capacity through the worst of the pandemic, grounding planes and suspending routes, bringing their sprawling, complex networks back online will be a challenge."Humpty Dumpty not only fell off the wall, but was smashed into very tiny pieces," said Henry Harteveldt, cofounder of the Atmosphere Research Group, a travel industry research and analysis firm. "So it's going to take a long time to reassemble the airline network."In recent years, airlines began <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-airlines-new-routes-hub-strategy-morocco-israel-europe-2019-8">looking toward new markets and routes, seeking untested opportunities</a> for profits and market share. United, for example, launched a nonstop flight between Newark, New Jersey and Cape Town, South Africa, betting on a strong leisure market.As <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/united-taps-mileageplus-frequent-flyer-cash-coronavirus-pandemic-2020-6">debt-laden</a>, struggling carriers <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/airline-industry-2020-2021-losses-pandemic-2020-6">limp back from the pandemic</a>, that kind of experimentation and expansion will likely remain on the back burner. Some routes may use smaller aircraft than before as demand builds back up, and unless there's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/united-polaris-767-300er-newark-ewr-london-heathrow-2019-7">strong demand from a corporate client</a>, some nonstop flights to those international hubs will have to wait."Flights from the major hubs, like Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, sure," Harteveldt added. "But you may not see some nonstop routes like Nashville to London, or Raleigh-Durham to Paris, or New Orleans to London return in the first wave. Maybe the second wave."R.W. Mann, an airline consultant and former executive, said that one sign that will tell him that everything has returned to normal: American Airlines launching a now-postponed <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/american-alaska-airlines-new-codeshare-frequent-flyer-agreement-2020-2">direct flight between Seattle and Bangalore, India</a>, a route that was announced earlier this year with multinational tech companies in mind."That's an example of a tech-hub to tech-hub nonstop route that wouldn't work unless you had lots of corporate travel on board," he said. "So that would be my barometer of when things are totally back to normal."One thing most experts agree on: airlines are highly unlikely to abandon any of their previous hubs."They've invested time and money to develop those," Harteveldt said. "They know that if they pull out, a competitor will step right in."When frequent flyers return to the skies, they're also likely to find themselves on a different plane than they would have before.Airlines <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-havoc-forces-airlines-to-retire-iconic-planes-sooner-2020-3">have accelerated retirements</a> of older, larger, and less efficient plane types as they've cut capacity during the pandemic. The "superjumbo" Airbus A380 has been grounded by most airlines, and carriers still flying the iconic Boeing 747 on long-haul flights have been putting more of the planes into storage, and airlines have retired other fleets en masse.When travelers return, they can expect to see smaller, more efficient, nimbler aircraft. Narrow-body jets like the Airbus A321XLR and the Boeing 737 Max — once it's cleared to return to service — are also expected to cover longer routes, according to Mike Boyd, an aviation expert and a consultant with Boyd Group International."The Airbus A321XLR is a 180 seat airplane" with a degree of flexibility that has a strong appeal for airlines seeking to reinvigorate their route networks, Boyd said."You can fly between Providence, Rhode Island and Paris, and between Providence and Albany" with the plane, he said, "and make money on both."

New Delhi, Mar 2 () Industry body Ficci on Monday called for measures to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus in India, even as two more cases -- one in Delhi and another in Telangana -- were reported in the country.It suggested adoption of infection control practices and strengthening of screening at airports, among others."Till date India has been relatively untouched. The most important part of our strategy must be screening and ensuring that the virus does not enter and parallelly a hospital preparedness strategy is in place," Ficci president Sangita Reddy said.She said this needs to be further backed by mapping of available health-care resources in both public and private sector, for sample testing, quarantine and treatment to prepare for likely spread.The Health Ministry on Monday said two more positive cases of the novel coronavirus -- one in Delhi and another in Telangana -- have been reported."Screening at all ports of entry for travellers from all countries should be immediately strengthened. As private hospitals in India cater to many international patients under Medical Value Travel, active involvement of the private healthcare providers becomes even more critical to develop protocols for screening, isolation and treatment of COVID-19 infected persons," Reddy said.
