A Paytm employee, who was among the first 30 coronavirus cases in India, has recovered and was discharged from hospital after his last two results came negative, the digital payment company said on Friday. "Coronavirus affected employee from Paytm Gurgaon office has been discharged from hospital today evening and is on his way back home. He is completely fit and has had his last two results as negative. He has been prescribed self isolation for next 14 days and is required to stay at home," Paytm said in a tweet. The Paytm employee, who tested positive on March 5, had come in touch with 91 people in Gurgaon. "His relative (who was diagnosed contaminated through him within a week) as well has recovered and been discharged today and recommended self isolation for 14 days," Paytm said. Paytm has allowed all employees to work from home till March 31.

(Eds: Updating with minor edits) New Delhi, May 5 () Digital payment firm Paytm on Tuesday announced a Rs 100 crore loyalty programme for grocery stores to cover losses faced by merchants from transaction charges.Businesses are now required to pay 1 per cent MDR (merchant discount rate) for transferring payment received on Paytm wallet to their bank account.Paytm said it has set aside Rs 100 crores, which would be invested in giving access to financial services and various marketing tools to encourage kirana stores to accelerate the growth of digital payments through Paytm all-in-one QR during coronavirus pandemic."The banks charge us a fee to load the wallet and we will be returning this 1 per cent MDR by doubling the benefits for their business which includes various financial and business services that they use on our platform," Paytm senior vice president Saurabh Sharma said.Paytm said that as part of the new loyalty programme, all merchant partners will be eligible to earn reward points for accepting payments from Paytm Wallet, Rupay Cards, and all UPI based payment apps."The collected points can be redeemed for a voucher instantly or for purchasing exciting merchandise from the Paytm for Business app, such as sound-box, EDC, etc. There is no limit on the reward points that can be earned by a merchant and will directly depend upon the total number of transactions done through the Paytm all-in-One QR," the statement said. Paytm's launches Rs 100 cr loyalty scheme for kirana stores to cover up merchant charges

New Delhi, Apr 27 () Paytm on Monday said it has developed a 'contactless in-store ordering' solution to help restaurants and eateries minimise physical contacts for menu, billing and cash transactions after these businesses open after the lockdown. The digital payments major aims to onboard over one lakh restaurants for the solution. It is looking at tapping into top-30 cities to start with, and then rolling out to other cities. In a statement, Paytm said it has developed a QR code that will be displayed at these restaurants that users can scan from the Paytm app to browse the menu and place orders. This will avoid the need to touch the menu card that could be unsanitised and also minimises interaction with the servers, it added. Online food aggregator and delivery platform Zomato has also said it is working towards adding new features on its app that will allow diners to use online menus, place orders, and make payments when they visit restaurants after the lifting of the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus infection. Paytm said its solution supports each of the payment methods, including Paytm Wallet, Paytm UPI, net-banking and cards, and offers live order updates on the Paytm app, the statement said. "In the first phase, the company is in the process of onboarding over a lakh restaurant which will help them to ensure social distancing amidst COVID-19 fears. This, in turn, will also enhance the restaurant's efficiency and trust for the customers to recover their business while reducing cost overheads," the statement said. The company added that it will extend this solution to all leading quick service restaurants and and dine-in brands. "We understand that after the lockdown, our country will require a safe dining and food ordering experience. Therefore, we have built this technology to help restaurants and their customers to follow social-distancing norms. Paytm builds 'contactless in-store ordering' solution for restaurants after lockdown

New Delhi, May 21 () Digital payments firm Paytm has recorded around four-fold jump in payments received by merchants in its new ledger service amid the coronavirus pandemic, a senior company official said on Thursday. The amount of payments received by merchants recorded in its e-ledger service Business Khata has crossed Rs 1,500 crore in about four months. "We have seen four-time growth in payments received by merchants in Business Khata between January 8 to March 14 and March 15 to May 15," Paytm vice president Sajal Bhatnagar told . The company launched free digital ledger service Paytm Business Khata for merchants on January 8 which allows the retailer enter item details, price, and customer's phone number. Through this service, a merchant can set a reminder and send automated notifications (text message) to the customer on the scheduled date for payment using the same link via Paytm wallet, Paytm UPI, cards or net banking. "Paytm Business Khata has become an essential service for kirana stores as it automates their manual cash collection. It has helped them to significantly improve cash flow and clear their sales outstanding digitally. We are overwhelmed with the growth achieved," Bhatnagar said. He said that in about five months time, the business khata app has recorded total payments Rs 1,500 crore made to the merchants. The company claims that using the ledger service, about 10 lakh merchants have moved digitally and have also learned to set payment due dates for credit transactions and send automated reminders. Paytm records 4 times growth in payments made to merchants during lockdown

New Delhi, Mar 29 () After Paytm, Flipkart-owned PhonePe has launched a donation drive and said it aims to contribute up to Rs 100 crore to PM CARES Fund towards fighting coronavirus crisis.PhonePe said it will contribute Rs 10 for every user, who donates to the PM CARES Fund via the PhonePe App using UPI by April 30, 2020."In total, PhonePe has pledged to contribute a maximum of up to Rs 100 crore," a statement said.Paytm had on Saturday said it aims to contribute Rs 500 crore to PM CARES (Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund), and will contribute up to Rs 10 for every contribution or any other payment made on Paytm using the wallet, UPI and Paytm Bank debit card.Sameer Nigam, founder and CEO of PhonePe, said the 100 crore pledge is an attempt to lift the mood of the country in this period of crisis."We are asking every Indian to unite together and donate, even if it's just Re 1, to the PM CARES Fund. New Delhi, Mar 26 () E-commerce companies Paytm Mall, Amazon and Flipkart have temporarily stopped taking orders for non-essential items due to restrictions imposed during the nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus. The companies had on Wednesday complained about their delivery staff being punished by local police despite government orders to exempt them from lockdown restrictions. "Paytm Mall has decided to help users buy essential products including household staples, healthcare, hygiene, personal safety products on its platform. The company would temporarily not take any new orders for products that fall in the non-essential categories including fashion, mobile, and accessories, white goods and electronics among others," Paytm Mall said in a statement. The company said it is working closely with government officials and logistics partners to ensure ease of deliveries and quick service. "Paytm Mall is proactively talking to a number of new suppliers in the country who can immediately provide hand sanitizers, preventive ayurvedic medicines as well as other products that help in combating the spread of coronavirus," the company said. Amazon India on its website said that pending deliveries of orders will be delayed in the ongoing situation of extensive lockdowns and restriction in movement. "New ordering is available only on essential products through pre-paid payments methods. We are continuously evaluating the situation and working towards resuming deliveries soon," Amazon India said. Meanwhile, Flipkart also resumed delivery of groceries. "We're prioritizing grocery orders and working on delivering them to you as soon as we can. Orders for other items are temporarily unavailable, but we're working hard to bring things back on track," Flipkart said in a message on its website. Online grocery seller Grofers tweeted that it has resumed operations as local authorities have helped the company in restarting operations. Grofers' competitor Bigbasket's website continued to remain closed for new customers. According to a report by ClickPost-Shadowfax, 21 per cent orders placed on e-commerce platforms between March 10-20 have been delayed, while 9 per cent shipments have been stuck. PRS RVKRVK

E-commerce companies temporarily stop taking orders for non-essential items

New Delhi, Apr 17 () Digital payment firm Paytm said it has registered over 200 per cent jump in bill payments for broadband services as well as online entertainment streaming amid the coronavirus lockdown. Mobile recharges increased by 42 per cent, and DTH recharges 58 per cent, according to data collated by the firm between March 22 to April 15. The government first announced nationwide lockdown from March 24 till April 14 to contain the spread of coronavirus infections. However, due to the rising number of cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the lockdown till May 3. According to industry data, internet data consumption during the lockdown has increased by about 20 per cent due to work from home and demand for online entertainment services. While there is no scientific evidence that cash may spread Covid-19 contamination, the government and RBI have suggested people use digital payments for social distancing. In a blogpost, Paytm said it registered 30 per cent increase each in payment for groceries and pharmacies, and 15 per cent in payments for milk. PRS PRS ABMABM

Paytm records 200 pc jump in broadband bill payments

New Delhi, Mar 22 () Digital payment platform Paytm committed Rs 5 crore for Indian innovators developing medical solutions related to coronavirus, its founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma said on Sunday. "We need more Indian innovators to start building such indigenous solutions for potential ventilators shortage and other COVID cures. Paytm commits Rs 5 crore for such teams working on COVID-related medical solutions," Sharma said in a tweet. He responded to a message floated by IISc professor Gourab Banerjee to reach out to a biomedical engineer with clinical ventilator experience handling mechanical ventilators on a daily basis. Banerjee in his message said that his small team of aerospace, electrical and electronics engineers are trying to put together a prototype ventilator using Indian ingredients on an emergency basis with intent to be ready if "COVID-19 situation becomes worse". Sharma said he has kept direct message option of his Twitter account open to get information about the team and innovators.
