The young girl in the group was crying.</p><p>"Why's she crying?" Patterson asked the girl's mother, his hands on his hips in a pose that showed he was determined to solve the issue.</p><p>"Because he got a ball, and she didn't," the mother replied, referring to the girl's brother.</p><p>"She needs a ball?" Patterson replied. "Let's find her a ball."</p><p>Patterson than ran over to some team employees and asked to get a ball from them, retrieved one, and handed it over to the girl.</p><p>"Thank you! You saved the day!" the family said.</p><p>It's the most heartwarming football moment you will see this week.</p><p>On Twitter, fans and commentators alike praised Patterson for his kind gesture.</p><p>In addition to his fine performance off the field, Patterson is having a strong year on the field as well. On Sunday, Patterson rushed for a touchdown and returned three kicks for 79 yards en route to a Falcons victory. At 30 years old, he's set career-highs in rushing (579 yards) and receiving yards (523) this season.</p><p>But as he made obvious after the game, the biggest play Patterson made on Sunday was in service of a fan on the sidelines.</p>

While he was far from his sharpest, Brady led the Buccaneers to victory over the Patriots in the GOAT's New England homecoming.</p><p>In the process, Brady became the all-time NFL passing leader, usurping Drew Brees for the top spot on the list. He also joined Brees, Peyton Manning, and Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to record wins over all 32 teams in the league.</p><p>Brady's legacy has been secure for years now, but with a win against his old team, he certainly added a few more fun details to his Wikipedia page. </p><h2>LOSER: <keyword id="12012501" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="bill-belichick" source="Orion">Bill Belichick</keyword></h2><div type="image" title="Bill Belichick looks on during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers." height="1721" width="2295" msid="86763048" hostid="261"></div><p>To his credit, Belichick and the Patriots put up a much greater fight than many believed they would against the Buccaneers. They covered the spread; that's worth something. But on the biggest decision of the night, Belichick made a decision that felt extremely un-Belichickian.</p><p>With just under a minute left in the game, the Patriots were facing fourth-and-3 around the Buccaneers 40-yard line, trailing 19-17. In the pouring rain, Belichick had the option to either send out kicker Nick Folk for a 56-yard field goal attempt or go for it on fourth down.</p><p>Belichick elected to kick, and Folk's strong effort wound up doinking off the upright in dramatic fashion. Buccaneers win.</p><p>Folk's kick was inches from giving the Patriots the lead, but even still, the decision to attempt a field goal in that spot felt shockingly un-Belichickian.</p><p>Bill Belichick was one of the first coaches in the NFL to exploit the value of going for it on fourth down, especially in high-leverage, late-game situations. Mac Jones had been connecting well with his receivers on short completions all night. If the Patriots picked up the first down, they could have given Folk a closer shot at a game-winning field goal and ensured that Brady wouldn't get the ball back with a chance to win.</p><p>By choosing to kick, Belichick set up a best-case scenario for his team that involved Tom Brady getting the ball with 50 seconds, two timeouts, and needing only a field goal to win with the game on the line.</p><p>Belichick is the greatest coach ever to lead an NFL team. He doesn't need me second-guessing his decisions. But if you described the situation and asked, "What Would Bill Belichick Do?" I would have guessed he went for the fourth-down conversation 1o times out of 10.</p><h2>WINNER: Rookie quarterbacks taken in the first round</h2><p>After a tough first few weeks of the NFL season, the top quarterbacks taken in the 2021 NFL draft shined in Week 4.</p><p>Trevor Lawrence kicked off the week with a solid performance on Thursday night against the Bengals. While Lawrence couldn't get the Jaguars their first win of the season, he did make throws like this one that reminded those watching why he was the highest-regarded college prospect since Peyton Manning.</p><p>Zach Wilson led the Jets to an overtime win against the Tennessee Titans. Mac Jones fought hard against the Buccaneers. Trey Lance stepped in for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers and looked sharp.</p><p>Justin Fields got to start for the Bears and made this throw.</p><p>It was a tough start to the season, but the kids are alright.</p><h2>LOSER: Davis Mills</h2><p>While the first-round quarterbacks had a field day, third-round selection Davis Mills had another miserable outing for the Houston Texans.</p><p>Mills completed just 11 of 21 passes, throwing for 87 yards and four interceptions. Eventually, the Texans lost 40-0. Not great.</p><p>Mills is in a tough spot, taking over the starting job on a bad team that had no chance of competing before he took over under center. With the Patriots visiting Houston next week, Mills' job isn't getting easier any time soon.</p><h2>WINNER: Bad football teams from New York</h2><p>Both the Giants and the Jets pulled off overtime upsets this week.</p><p>Zach Wilson looked as sharp as he has all year and made a few plays that will have Jets fans feeling hope for the future for the first time in a long time.</p><p>For the Giants, Daniel Jones once again played like a man who will earn a second contract, leading the Giants on a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Saints.</p><p>The New York teams are still bad, but for one day, they looked alright.</p><h2>LOSER: The New Orleans Saints</h2><p>Due to Hurricane Ida disrupting the start of the season, Sunday's afternoon affair against New York was the first true home game the Saints had had in New Orleans.</p><p>The Saints led the Giants 21-10 with seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter. In front of 69,170 fans, they blew it.</p><h2>WINNER: Cordarrelle Patterson</h2><p>Cordarrelle Patterson has been in the NFL for nearly a decade. Teams have been attempting that entire time to figure out how to set him up for success beyond sitting him back as a kick returner.</p><p>Patterson is a game-breaker but had often been stifled by his situation. But with the Falcons, Patterson is cooking, putting up 116 total yards and three touchdowns against Washington on Sunday.</p><p>Keep at it long enough, and you'll find your spot.</p><h2>LOSER: Ben Roethlisberger</h2><p>After the Steelers' loss to the Packers on Sunday, Roethlisberger acknowledged that his team is at a crossroad.</p><p> "I think this is going to test us all," Roethlisberger said, p<a href="https://triblive.com/sports/steelers-cant-stop-aaron-rodgers-slump-continues-in-loss-at-green-bay/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">er the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review</a>. "We need to look in the mirror and figure out what path we want to take."</p><p>Hate to break it to you Ben, but the Steelers are looking for a path that involves you retiring as soon as possible. In the meantime, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is already making eyes at Aaron Rodgers.</p><p>When was the last time Tomlin looked at Roethlisberger like that? It feels like it's been a while.</p><h2>WINNER: Arizona Cardinals</h2><p>The Arizona Cardinals are the last remaining undefeated team in the NFC after an upset win over the Los Angeles Rams.</p><p>Quarterback Kyler Murray is the most exciting player in football and leads the way-too-early battle for MVP honors thanks to plays like this one.</p><p>The race for the NFC West is going to be a blast this year.</p><h2>LOSER: Urban Meyer</h2><p>After losing to the Bengals on Thursday night, Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer decided to stay back in Ohio to catch up with family. While there, he stopped by his restaurant - Urban Meyer's Pint House - in Columbus, where he was captured on video dancing close with another patron.</p><p>"I just apologized to the team and staff for being a distraction," Meyer said on Monday. "Just stupid, and so I explained everything that happened and owned it. Just stupid. Should not have myself in that kind of position."</p><p>At least get a win first coach.</p>

<ul class="summary-list"><li>The <keyword id="205794" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="New-Orleans-Saints">New Orleans Saints</keyword> used a trick play to score a touchdown against the <keyword id="242377" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tampa-Bay-Buccaneers">Tampa Bay Buccaneers</keyword> in their playoff matchup. </li><li>The play was identical to one used against the Saints by the <keyword id="238438" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Chicago-Bears">Chicago Bears</keyword>.</li><li>Jameis Winston threw a touchdown pass after lining up at wide receiver. </li></ul><p>The New Orleans Saints pulled off an impressive trick play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday to score their first touchdown of the game.</p><p>The trickeration was evident from how the Saints lined up, pulling starting quarterback Drew Brees out of the game, lining running back Alvin Kamara up as the wildcat quarterback, and putting in backup quarterback Jameis Winston as a wide receiver.</p><p>Kamara took the snap and handed the ball off to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders who was storming across the line. Sanders then pitched the ball back to Winston, who fired off a deep pass down the center of the field and hit receiver Tre'Quan Smith wide open for a touchdown, giving the Saints a 13-10 lead.</p><p>If the play looked familiar to football fans, that's because the Chicago Bears ran the same design against the Saints last weekend. In the Bears set up, running back David Montgomery took the snap and gave the ball to wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who pitched back to quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who had initially lined up at wide receiver.</p><p>Trubisky threw a dime to wide receiver Javon Wims, and while Wims couldn't reel in the catch, the play had succeeded in fooling the Saints defense.</p><p>Watched side-by-side, it's clear where the Saints got their inspiration.</p><p>As the old saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.</p>

Just when it looked like Peyton Manning may never play in another NFL game, the Broncos struggled with Brock Osweiler at quarterback, committing five turnovers and trailing 13-7 early in the second half. After just two offensive plays in the second half, the Broncos made the switch and brought Manning back in. The reaction from the crowd tells it all. The Broncos came back to win and clinch home field advantage.</p><p></p><p><strong>You may never see a better play by a kicker.</strong> The Green Bay Packers' hopes for winning the NFC North came up short when Aaron Rodgers' latest Hail Mary throw landed incomplete. But the Packers would have never been in that position if not for Mason Crosby. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><ul><li><strong>The Raiders&#xa0;completed the most heart-stopping comeback of the year against the Chiefs on "Thursday Night Football."</strong></li><li><strong>The final sequence included three penalties, two untimed downs, and two overturned touchdowns.</strong></li><li><strong>With no time left on the clock, Michael Crabtree reeled in the final score for the Raiders to seal the victory.</strong></li></ul><p>The end of the Raiders-Chiefs "Thursday Night Football" matchup was one to remember.</p><p>Nearing the end&#xa0;a hard fought game that included <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/video-marshawn-lynch-ejected-shoved-ref-2017-10" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Marshawn Lynch getting ejected after shoving a referee</a>, the Raiders had the ball driving, down six points with two minutes remaining from their own 30-yard line.&#xa0;Running out of the no-huddle, the Raiders took the ball all the way to the Chiefs 30-yard line with the help of a 4th and 11 conversion&#xa0;where&#xa0;Derek Carr found tight end Jared Cook to keep the game alive.</p><p>The Raiders would pass towards the end zone unsuccessfully twice, leaving them again with&#xa0;3rd-and-long and the game on the line.</p><p>That's when the chaos would start.</p><p>Carr dropped back and threw again to Cook, who caught the ball and fell into the end zone with 16 seconds left. Raiders fans rejoiced.</p><p>But the play was overturned, with the referee claiming video evidence proved that Cook was actually down at the one yard line. A ten second run off was invoked, and the Raiders were faced with first and goal from the one yard line.</p><p>With the clock running on the referee's whistle, Carr took the snap, dropped back and found a receiver in the end zone, this time Michael Crabtree. Again, Raiders fans rejoiced.</p><p>But the&#xa0;touchdown was taken off the board once more, this time due to an offensive pass interference call that took the Raiders back to the&#xa0;10&#xa0;yard line.</p><p>Now with first-and-goal from the 10, Carr went to Cook in the center of the end zone. The ball hit off Cook's hands and fell incomplete, but yet another flag was thrown, this time, defensive holding.</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>This moved&#xa0;the Raiders up five yards and permitting them one untimed down despite the fact that the clock already read triple zeroes.</p><p>So the Raiders lined up again. Carr dropped back and threw a bullet to Cordarrelle Patterson, who snagged the ball in the back of the end zone, but failed to land two feet in bounds.</p><p>But just as the&#xa0;football fans thought the game was finally over, another flag was thrown. Once again, defensive holding was the call, giving the Raiders one more untimed down, and thus, one more shot at the end zone from the&#xa0;three-yard line.</p><p>Once again, Carr&#xa0;rolled out to his left,&#xa0;scanned the field for a receiver, and found Michael Crabtree right at the pylon, who came down with the ball in bounds with possession. The Ravens And Vikings Score 4 TDs In The Final 90 Seconds In The Craziest NFL Ending Of The Season

<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div><p class="source">Joe Robbins/Getty Images</p></div>In a mild surprise, <keyword id="1616599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Manti-teo">Manti Te'o</keyword> wasn't picked in the first round of the <keyword id="1608031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="NFL-Draft">NFL Draft</keyword>.</p>
<p>Most experts had him going between 20th and 32nd, with <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-draft-experts-minnesota-vikings-manti-teo-2013-4">the Minnesota Vikings as the heavy favorite to pick him at in the mid-20s</a>.</p>
<p>But Minnesota passed on him with both of their first round picks. Then, to add insult to injury, they traded up for an THIRD first round pick and drafted wide receive Cordarrelle Patterson instead of Te'o.</p>
<p>It's not like this is a catastrophic fall for Te'o. He was projected to go in the mid-20s, and he'll probably go in the mid-30s tomorrow night instead..</p>
<p>But the Vikings thing should give everyone pause.</p>
<p>This was the one team that was reportedly in love with Te'o. They had three chances to pick him, and they passed.</p>

Manti Te'o Falls Out Of The First Round Of The NFL Draft

<p><div class="image-container float_right" style="width:400px"><div class="image"></div><p class="source">Joe Robbins/Getty Images</p></div>The Minnesota Vikings were the overwhelming favorite to pick <keyword id="1616599" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Manti-teo">Manti Te'o</keyword> going into last night's draft.</p>
<p>They had two first round picks (No.23 and No.25) in the late-first round zone where Te'o was evaluated, and they have a gaping hole at middle linebacker that Te'o could theoretically fill.</p>
<p>11 of the 15 <keyword id="1608031" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="NFL-Draft">NFL Draft</keyword> experts who had him going in the first round <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-draft-experts-minnesota-vikings-manti-teo-2013-4">had Minnesota taking him</a>.</p>
<p>But Minnesota passed with No.23, instead taking defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd.</p>
<p>They passed with No.25, choosing cornerback Xavier Rhodes.</p>
<p>And in a move that shocked everyone, they acquired yet another first round pick, only to take wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson at No.29.</p>
<p>So they had three chances to take Te'o, and passed every time.</p>
<p>It's not necessarily an indictment on Te'o as a player. <ul class="summary-list"><li>The first round of the <keyword id="1778247" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="NFL-playoffs">NFL playoffs</keyword> is in the books.</li><li>The <keyword id="300463" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cleveland-Browns">Cleveland Browns</keyword> are the biggest winners of the weekend, upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers to get their first playoff win since 1994.</li><li>Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears and Steelers are two big losers of the Wild Card round, delivering poor performances before getting eliminated from the playoffs.</li><li>Take a look at our biggest winners and losers of the weekend below.</li></ul><p>The first weekend of the <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL postseason</a> is in the books, and now just eight teams remain in the fight to lift the Lombardi Trophy.</p><p>The Cleveland Browns were the biggest surprise winners, upending the Steelers' playoff hopes with a dominant win on Sunday night. </p><p>Conversely, the Steelers, Bears, and Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer were left to lick their wounds as some of the biggest losers of the Wild Card round.</p><p>Take a look below at the winners and losers of the first weekend of the <keyword id="103436" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="NFL">NFL</keyword> postseason.</p><h2>WINNER: The Cleveland Browns</h2><p>Last weekend, the Cleveland Browns punched their ticket to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years with a win over a Steelers team that was resting its starters.</p><p>The Browns recorded their first playoff win since 1994 over that same Steelers team playing at full force. More incredible was just how the Browns won - they dominated. On the first play from scrimmage, Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey sent a shotgun snap flying over <keyword id="484412" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Ben-Roethlisberger">Ben Roethlisberger</keyword>'s head, with the Browns defense pouncing on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown.</p><p>From there, the Browns kept on rolling, scoring touchdowns on three successive drives to take a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and a 35-10 lead into halftime. Though there were some tense moments in the second half as it appeared the Steelers might find their footing and threaten a comeback, the Browns held firm, never letting Pittsburgh come within two scores.</p><p>They did all of this without Coach of the Year candidate Kevin Stefanski on the sideline, as he watched from home <a href="https://www.insider.com/cleveland-browns-covid-19-kyle-stefanski-game-not-postponed-2021-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">after a positive COVID-19 test earlier in the week</a>. In his stead, special teams coordinator Mike Priefer served as acting head coach, leading the Browns to a win they've been waiting for more than two decades.</p><p>"I grew up (a Browns fan), so I know what this means," Priefer said after the game.</p><p>Next week, the Browns will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. They'll be big underdogs again, but this was a season to remember for Cleveland regardless of what happens.</p><h2>LOSER: Ben Roethlisberger</h2><p>Ben Roethlisberger couldn't do much about the Browns' opening touchdown of the game, but he played a big role in allowing Cleveland to extend their lead from there. Roethlisberger threw three interceptions in the opening 20 minutes of play, helping the Browns take their lead from to 28-0 and stifling drives that could have helped the Steelers mount a comeback.</p><p>While his box score would look rather impressive by the end of the game - 501 passing yards, 4 touchdowns - the most important stat of the night was the four interceptions he threw. The Browns won the turnover battle 5-0 against the Steelers, and with that, the game. In what might have been Roethlisberger's final game with the Steelers, Big Ben was a big reason they came out losers.</p><h2>LOSER: JuJu Smith-Schuster</h2><div type="image" title="JuJu Smith-Schuster" height="988" width="1317" msid="80221949" hostid="261"></div><p>Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is one of the more fun-loving players in the NFL. While his TikToks, comments, and overall antics come from a place of joy, they also sometimes provide opponents with quality locker room material to use as motivation.</p><p>Ahead of Sunday's game against Cleveland, Smith-Schuster <a href="https://www.insider.com/baker-mayfield-mocks-juju-smith-schuster-browns-comments-wild-card-2021-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">had joked that "The Browns is the Browns,"</a> apparently laughing off the threat that the Steelers division rival posed to them in the elimination game. Ahead of the game, Baker Mayfield posted a hype video on Instagram using the quote as the caption.</p><p>After the game, the Browns celebrated the win by imitating Smith-Schuster's "Corvette, Corvette" dance in the locker room.</p><p>If you're going to talk smack, you have to be ready for it to come back and bite you.</p><h2>WINNER: <keyword id="28008" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Tom-Brady">Tom Brady</keyword></h2><div type="image" title="Tom Brady" height="1599" width="2132" msid="80221952" hostid="261"></div><p>In his first year away from the New England Patriots, Tom Brady has now led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a playoff win and has the team on the cusp of their first NFC Championship since 2002. Regardless of what happens in the future rounds, it's safe to say that Brady's move to Tampa Bay has been a success.</p><p>Further, Brady looked as good as he ever has in the Buccaneers' win over Washington on Saturday night, throwing for 381 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions. With the wide range of weapons at his disposal, Brady has a chance to take this team far - even as far as a home game in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium.</p><h2>WINNER: Taylor Heinicke</h2><div type="image" title="Taylor Heinicke" height="1599" width="2132" msid="80221954" hostid="261"></div><p>While the Washington Football Team didn't come up with the win, quarterback Taylor Heinicke, thrust into the starting role after a series of injuries and departures, had himself quite a day.</p><p>After going undrafted in 2015, Heinicke bounced around NFL practice squads for a few seasons and took a few snaps with the Carolina Panthers in 2018. In 2019, he was drafted to the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL to serve as a backup quarterback before finding his way back to the NFL with a spot on the Washington practice squad.</p><p>It's safe to say that Saturday night was the biggest game of Heinicke's life by a wide margin, and he rose to the occasion with poise. Heinicke finished the day with 306 yards passing, 1 touchdown, and 1 pick. He also made the biggest play of the day for Washington, turning a broken pocket into a brilliant touchdown.</p><p>Heinicke wasn't able to complete Washington's comeback. Still, his performance was that of an NFL professional, and chances are his game was worth at least a couple million to him in future contracts.</p><h2>LOSER: Cowardly decisions to punt</h2><p>The debate over analytics and their role in NFL decision-making is tiring. Some advocate to trust the numbers and play aggressively, going for it on fourth down to try and turn the odds of the game in your favor, and there are those of an old-school mindset who are against taking what they see as unnecessary risks.</p><p>These two sides never agree on anything, so it's difficult to start a conversation on the topic. But here we will try.</p><p>Over the weekend, coaches who opted to punt rather than go for it in big moments had a terrible time. The Steelers chose to kick from their 46-yard line while facing fourth-and-one and trailing 35-23 at the start of the fourth quarter. In response, the Browns drove the field's length and scored a touchdown, taking a 42-23 lead and never allowing Pittsburgh to cut their deficit to less than two scores.</p><p>The Titans chose to punt from their 44-yard line facing fourth-and-two while trailing in the third quarter and then kicked again from the Ravens 40-yard line facing fourth-and-two in the fourth quarter. </p><p>That latter decision was met with absolute shock from the ESPN+ broadcast of the game.</p><p>According to the Surrender Index, <a href="https://twitter.com/surrender_index" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a formula created by Jon Bois of SB Nation</a> meant to show how cowardly a specific decision to punt was, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel called the worst punt of the year.</p><p>No one has to give themselves over to analytics completely. Every decision is different, and even most supporters of a more analytics-driven NFL aren't arguing for the total elimination of the human element in decision-making. That said, if you are in the playoffs and punting the most cowardly punt of the NFL season, maybe take another look at the spreadsheet next time.</p><h2>WINNER: Buffalo Bills fans</h2><div type="image" title="Bills fans" height="1599" width="2132" msid="80221956" hostid="261"></div><p>While the Cleveland Browns held the record for the longest playoff drought, Bills fans were right alongside them in terms of long-suffering NFL supporters. With their win over the Colts, though, the Bills showed that they are a real threat to make noise this postseason, thanks mostly to quarterback Josh Allen, one of the top three quarterbacks in the league all season.</p><p>Bills fans had been banned from attending games during the regular season due to COVID-19 restrictions, but on Sunday, a group of nearly 7,000 Bills fans were in attendance to watch the team's first home playoff game in 25 years.</p><h2>WINNER: Stefon Diggs</h2><p>Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs made the most of his first playoff performance with the Bills, finishing the game with six receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown.</p><p>Diggs was the biggest offseason acquisition for the Bills heading into the 2020 season and a sign that the team was looking to make the leap from good to great. He's proven well worth his asking price all year, and on Saturday, helped Buffalo to its biggest win of the past two decades.</p><h2>LOSER: Frank Reich</h2><p>While those who went against the numbers in punt decisions got crushed, those who play to win sometimes fall short also. Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich made some aggressive decisions, and on Saturday against the Bills, playing the odds didn't work out for him.</p><p>Late in the first half, with the Colts leading 10-7 and facing fourth-and-goal from the Bills four-yard line, Reich kept his offense on the field. It was an aggressive move, and worth noting, one with which the analytics disagreed.</p><p>The play failed, and the Bills would take the ball and drive 96 yards for a go-ahead touchdown before halftime. After the game, the decision to go for it was even more frustrating for fans, as the Colts lost by just three points.</p><p>Coaches making more aggressive calls is a good thing for the sport, but sometimes big moves don't work out the way you want them.</p><h2>WINNER: Revenge</h2><div type="image" title="Ravens logo" height="1599" width="2132" msid="80221958" hostid="261"></div><p>There's no other way to say it: revenge had a big weekend. The Browns <a href="https://www.insider.com/baker-mayfield-mocks-juju-smith-schuster-browns-comments-wild-card-2021-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seemingly unleashed two decades' worth of aggravation</a> at the Steelers in the first quarter of their game en route to a knockout win over their division rivals.</p><p>The Baltimore Ravens also <a href="https://www.insider.com/video-ravens-stomp-titans-logo-lamar-jackson-leave-field-early-2021-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">got a fair bit of revenge against the Tennessee Titans</a>. Last year, the Titans beat the Ravens in the playoffs in a shocking upset. In their regular-season matchup this year, the Titans made a show of standing on the Ravens logo ahead of their overtime win against Baltimore.</p><p>On Sunday, the Ravens returned the favor to the Titans with a bit of pettiness. After cornerback Marcus Peters came up with the game-sealing interception, the Ravens stormed onto the Titans logo to celebrate. Then when quarterback Lamar Jackson knelt the game away, he jogged off the field as the final seconds ticked off the clock, rather than sticking around for some post-game handshakes.</p><p>Stay petty, Lamar, that energy will serve you well.</p><h2>LOSER: Lamar Jackson haters</h2><p>Not only did Lamar Jackson get his first playoff win, but he also killed one of the biggest arguments of his doubters.</p><p>Despite three brilliant NFL seasons, Lamar Jackson had gone 0-2 in the playoffs, with particularly dreadful performances in both of his postseason appearances. The narrative of "Playoff Lamar" lingered over him despite a small sample size, and another loss wouldn't have helped.</p><p>Instead, Jackson had a brilliant game like only he can have, throwing for 179 yards and rushing for 136 more, including a 48-yard touchdown run that erased an early 10-0 deficit.</p><p>With Jackson firing on all cylinders, the Ravens can go as far as his legs and arm will carry them.</p><h2>WINNER: Nickelodeon</h2><p>There wasn't much to look forward to about the game between the Saints and Bears, one which New Orleans controlled from whistle to whistle without much threat from Chicago. Thankfully for those watching, the game was being broadcast not only on CBS but also with a kid-centric commentary team at Nickelodeon.</p><p>Nate Burleson of NFL Network worked the booth during the game and helped explain the matchup's rules and situations in simple terms - Saints utility man Taysom Hill was described as the kid at recess who can play every sport. The broadcast was peppered with other Nick-isms as well, from references to Nickelodeon shows old and new to the end zone being dubbed the "Slime Zone" with CGI slime cannons erupting to celebrate touchdowns.</p><p>The whole thing was a light-hearted affair that brought some fun to football and likely sparked some younger viewers' interest in the sport. It also gave a great template for memes while watching what turned out to be a dreadful game.</p><p>Let's give cheers to Nickelodeon on an impressive broadcast, and let's do it again next year.</p><h2>LOSER: Chicago Bears</h2><p>The Bears are likely lucky that their game was broadcast on Nickelodeon. Otherwise, plenty more people would have spent the game roasting their performance.</p><p>Chicago couldn't get anything going against the Saints defense, scoring three points through the first 59 minutes and 59 seconds of game action. The one interesting play they made came on a bit of trickeration. Mitch Trubisky lined up at wide receiver, took a pitch from Cordarrelle Patterson, and lofted a dream pass to wide receiver Javon Wims in the end zone, only to have the ball fall through his hands.</p><p>It was likely the best play the Bears made all game.</p><h2>LOSER: Bears bettors</h2><p>Despite their game-long slog of mediocrity, the Bears actually had a chance to cover the spread for Chicago bettors in the final minutes of the game. The Bears entered the game as 10.5- or 11-point underdogs to the Saints. Trailing 21-3 in the final seconds of the game, a touchdown and two-point conversion would have gotten Bears bettors home.</p><p>On the game's final play, Mitch Trubisky connected with tight end Jimmy Graham for a stellar one-handed touchdown catch with no time remaining on the clock.</p><p>For a second, it looked as though Bears bettors had a chance. But because there was no time left on the clock, and the extra point attempt wouldn't impact the outcome of the game, the extra point was called off, leaving Bears backers just shy of saving their bets.</p><h2>WINNER: Los Angeles Rams</h2><p>The Rams entrusted their offense to backup quarterback John Wolford due to Jared Goff's broken thumb. Then after a scary injury to Wolford, Goff had to step into the game for the Rams anyway.</p><p>While the offense was somewhat limited, the Rams defense stepped up in a big way to contain the Seahawks and lead Los Angeles to an impressive playoff win. That defense will need to be brilliant once again this weekend to stop Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense.</p><h2>LOSER: Brian Schottenheimer</h2><p>The Seahawks' loss to the Rams was mystifying to many, and Seattle offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer wound up getting much of the blame for the disappointing performance.</p><p>Better luck next year.</p>

<p><div class="image-container float_right"><div class="image"><p class="source">Harry How/Getty Images</p></div></div>Back in March, the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/seahawks-trade-percy-harvin-for-picks-2013-3">Seattle Seahawks traded for Percy Harvin</a> to address their lone weakness.</p>
<p>They already had a top-five defense, the league's best running game, and a young, promising quarterback. The only thing they lacked was the sort of game-changing skill player who could create a big play out of nothing, turning Seattle's efficient but plodding offense into something truly dynamic.</p>
<p>Harvin fit that description exactly. </p>
<p>He is the perfect stylistic compliment to Sidney Rice's deep threat and Marshawn Lynch's bruising running style. </p>
<p>That's why Seattle invested so heavily in him. They gave up three draft picks - a 2013 first-rounder, a 2013 seventh-rounder, and a 2014 third-rounder - to get him from Minnesota.</p>
<p>Once the trade was complete, they gave him a new contract that included $25.5 million in guaranteed money.</p>
<p>It's the sort of "all in" move that you only make if you're one player away from seriously contending for the Super Bowl.</p>
<p>It turns out that his was a miscalculation. As their league-best 14-3 record shows, they were <em>always</em> good enough to win the Super Bowl. The Harvin trade has proved unnecessary.</p>
<p>Harvin has barely played this year. He appeared in one game during the regular season. Last night, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/seahawks-percy-harvin-concussion-2014-1">he took two brutal hits to the head and left his team's 23-15 win against the Saints with a concussion</a>. All in all, he has appeared in less than 50 snaps as a Seahawk, making four catches. </p>
<p>This was always a risk. Harvin has struggled to stay on the the field throughout most of his <keyword id="103436" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="NFL">NFL</keyword> career - missing 25 of 80 regular season games (about one-third of all games) in five seasons. </p>
<p>The trade cost Seattle its first-round pick last year, which was 25th overall. At the time, wide receivers like DeAndre Hopkins and Cordarrelle Patterson were still on the board. Neither of these guys is as good as Harvin when he's healthy and at his best. But it turns out the Seahawks didn't really need a "<keyword id="2011781" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Percy-Harvin">Percy Harvin</keyword> at his best"-type player to be successful.</p>
<p>Seattle - <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-draft-experts-hated-2012-seahawks-draft-2013-10">one of the best drafting teams in the league in recent years</a> - could have saved those three picks, pocketed the $25.5 million, and still been a Super Bowl contender while also having depth and cap flexibility going forward.</p>
<p>Harvin still has a long-term deal in Seattle, and he's not going anywhere with all the guaranteed money he's scheduled to make. We've seen players make dramatic recoveries from injuries in recent years, and there's no reason he can't do the same. </p>
<p>But this team made a massive, franchise-altering investment in Harvin, and so far they have nothing to show for it.</p>
