The challenge here is to ensure that the right communication goes out amongst stakeholders, providing them with much needed guidance wherever required. Employees of our company were naturally very apprehensive about the virus and there was over information on social media, which led to further panic. To mitigate this, we created a sort of ready reckoner for employees which gave information on COVID-19, this spoke about signs, symptoms, how to detect, test centres, Govt. Helplines and even hospitals that were treating COVID19. As insurance falls into essential services, we still had limited staffing for office work, and for them instructions needed to be crystal clear in terms of dos and don’ts. We went about creating dos and don’ts posters as well as instruction posters on the safety measures in office and even the smallest things about how to wash hands, and how to use the sanitiser. Similar communication was also sent to our channel partners &amp; our distributors who are our backbone. Another critical element to note here is that, all other communication to employees that was not pertaining to Corona or relevant information thereof, was put on hold. To keep the employees engaged, we came out with a Work from Home digest in a pdf format, which had curated content, comprising of leadership podcasts, handpicked ted talks videos, articles, and even Jokes &amp; riddles. This gave employees something to look forward to, which was a change from their day to day work and provided much needed optimism. Customers and Citizens at large: In this stage, thinking that we would be able to serve our customers exactly how we did, when we worked from office would have been a wrong approach. We have always been a forward thinking, digitally capable organisation, which stood us in great stead to bring all customers onto a digital platform, especially when all offices were shut. But merely having digital platforms wasn’t enough, this had to be communicated effectively to current as well as potential customers. One of the best modes which we chose, was their trusted source of information i.e. media. We shared relevant pitch noteswith media charting out clear proposition of what we were doing to ensure customers are serviced well. This resulted in participation in multiple stories clearly highlighting the changes in the customer journey from a service, renewal and sales perspective. All our Leaders and spokespersons ensured that they spoke about this in all their interactions on print, television or even social mediaably led of course by our MD and CEO. As an organisation we sent out email, SMS and app notifications to all our customers about these changes and they were displayed on our website as well. The results were amazing, we saw customers move to Digital channels, get self help from WhatsApp and our mobile app. And what’s more, we were able to issue close to 3 million policies and settle close to 1.5 million claims. I strongly feel that expanding industry interest and product awareness goes a long way towards increasing penetration of any product/service. If you’re brand is strong enough, you will be a part of the consideration set of the customer, as long as they have trust in the base product offering of the industry. We felt that the time was right to also create more awareness on importance of health insurance, though this may seem opportunistic, I would like to think of it as topical. At the same time, we participated in a lot of industry stories about insurance with a sea change of regulation centred around giving customers more breathing space in terms of a delayed premium payment etc. In times of changes like the one that Covid brought about, Corporate communication played a key role in change management. In times like this, I would now say that it is ok to communicate more than normal, even at the risk of over communication, especially when it comes to employees and current customers. A good communicators role is to be the wingman for marketing functions and help with the 1st and 2nd stage of AIDA (attention interest desire action) &amp; play a complimentary role. A brand's perspective on the critical role effective communication played during Covid-19

In a major development, <keyword id="351012" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Anil-Ambani-owned">Anil Ambani-owned</keyword> <keyword id="46907" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Reliance-communications">Reliance Communications</keyword> is planning to takeover <keyword id="6368074" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sistema">Sistema</keyword> Shyam Teleservices (SSTL) in an all-stock deal reportedly which could give the Russian-owned telco's shareholders less stake in the merged entity. 
 
However, Reliance Communications and SSTL, majority owned by Russia's Sistema JSFC, do not want to comment on the possible takeover. 
 
"Due diligence is currently on, and there is an effort to tie up details in the next two to three months," a person directly involved in the talks told the Economic Times. 
 
"The second phase of the deal, if it happens, may see Sistema (JSFC) infuse more funds to raise its stake in the new entity, which can be used for capex or pare debt," he said. 
 However, another person familiar with the developments said there's no certainty about the deal. "Talks are going on. The top leadership of both the companies have met, but there are a lot of variables at play," he said, adding "any deal will need legal clearances, in addition to a nod from the DoT (<keyword id="116246" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Department-of-Telecommunications">Department of Telecommunications</keyword>)." 
 
According to Sistema, the company had held talks with other telecom operators in India, including Reliance Communications, for business expansion. 
 Sistema JSFC holds nearly 57 % in Sistema Shyam, which offers telecom services under the <keyword id="510271" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="MTS-brand">MTS brand</keyword> using <keyword id="218695" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="80" keywordseo="CDMA-technology">CDMA technology</keyword> in nine of India's 22 service areas to nearly nine million subscribers. Other shareholders include the Russian government with over 17 % and <keyword id="124887" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Shyam-Group">Shyam Group</keyword>, the Indian promoters of SSTL, holding 24 %. Minority shareholders own the rest. 
 
Sistema entered India in 2007. In 2008, the joint venture was awarded licences and spectrum to offer telecom services in all of India's 22 circles using CDMA technology. Sistema gradually raised its stake in the joint venture.

This initiative is critical in engaging industry leaders in expanding and shaping the future of India's <keyword id="22639384" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="telecommunications-ecosystem" source="keywords">telecommunications ecosystem</keyword>. "Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the leadership of Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia along with Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications, started the second round of meetings with the recently constituted SACs, and met with SACs on Satellite Communication and Internet Service Providers &amp; Infrastructure Providers," said Ministry of Communications. The ministry added that the committee commended the recent progress in RoW processes but emphasized the ongoing need for integrated governance and enhanced cooperation from state governments and local municipal bodies. The Secretary (Telecom) also assured that the new rules under the New Telecom Act are designed to address many of the issues raised in the meeting. The Minister also encouraged industry stakeholders to actively participate by providing their feedback on the RoW rules. The Advisory Committee on Satellite Communication presented their views on Indian space policy, spectrum allocation, and SUC and suggested various measures for advancing India's position as a global hub for satellite communication. The committee also commended the Ministry for including key provisions in the New Telecom Act, which are set to modernize India's telecommunications framework by enabling more flexible, liberalized, and technologically neutral spectrum utilization. These changes will greatly benefit the advancement and efficiency of satellite communication services. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, to facilitate a consistent two-way dialogue with the government on matters related to the telecommunications sector, constituted six distinct SACs to provide valuable insights to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on various matters. "Tata Communications (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Tata Communications Limited, will acquire a 100 per cent equity stake of Switch Enterprises, <keyword id="201509" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="llc" source="Orion">LLC</keyword>, USA and, as part of the transaction, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries," Tata Communications said. The company will acquire the assets of the subsidiaries of Switch Enterprises, LLC based out of Canada, the United States of America and the United Kingdom. India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C50 (PSLV-C50) rocket laden with the country's communication satellite CMS-01 (formerly GSAT-12R) lifted off from the rocket port at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday evening. The rocket with India's 42nd communication satellite CMS-01 lifted-off from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota at 3.41 p.m. CMS-01 satellite with a life span of seven years is envisaged for providing services in Extended-C Band of the frequency spectrum, which will include the Indian mainland, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands. The CMS-01 will be a replacement for GSAT-12 that weighed 1,410 kg and was launched on July 11, 2011 with a mission life of eight years. This is the first communication satellite that <keyword id="6358064" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="isro">ISRO</keyword> has sent up under its new naming scheme. ISRO has recently decided to go generic in naming its satellites. It had earlier named its earth observation satellites as EOS and the communication satellites are being named as CMS. 'Nowadays satellites have multiple payloads for varied users and hence a thematic satellite may be a misnomer and ISRO might have decided to go for a generic name,' M. Annadurai, who retired as Director, U.R. Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), formerly ISRO Satellite Centre, had told IANS. About 20 minutes into its flight, PSLV-C50 will eject the CMS-01 into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) and from there, the satellite will be taken up and positioned at geosynchronous orbit. The space mission is second from this rocket port and third for the country this year. On November 7, ISRO launched radar imaging satellite EOS-01 (Earth Observation Satellite-01, formerly RISAT-2BR2) with a PSLV rocket. Earlier on January 17, 2020, ISRO launched 3,357 kg communication satellite GSAT-30 by the European space agency Arianespace rocket Ariane 5. The 44-metre-high four staged/engine PSLV-C50 is the 22nd flight of PSLV in 'XL' configuration (with six strap-on motors hugging the first stage). The rocket weighs 320 tonne. The PSLV in normal configuration is a four stage/engine expendable rocket powered by solid and liquid fuels alternatively with six booster motors strapped on to the first stage to give higher thrust during the initial flight moments. The Indian space agency has PSLV variants with two and four strap-on motors, larger PSLV-XL and the Core Alone variant without any strap-on motors. The choice of the rocket to be used for a mission depends on the weight of the satellite and the orbit where the satellite is to be orbited.
