<ul><li>Sensex was up 69 points while Nifty was up 23 points in early trade. </li><li>Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading 0.5% lower, along with KOSPI that was down by 0.3%. </li><li>Brent crude fell in today’s trade by 0.8% to trade at $73.2 per barrel. </li></ul>Indian benchmark indices opened in the green on Monday, in spite of mixed global cues. Sensex was up 69 points to trade at 62,694 while Nifty was up 23 points to 18,586 as of 9:44 am. On Friday, Indian stock markets closed in the red after trading flat in the morning trade on Friday. Sensex fell by 223 points to 62,625 while Nifty fell by 71 points to 18,563, as FMCG and IT stocks came under pressure. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) continued their buying stance and pumped in close to ₹9,800 crore in Indian equities this month so far, on strong economic growth and attractive valuations of stocks. This came following a nine-month high investment of ₹43,838 crore in equities in May, ₹11,631 crore in April, and ₹7,936 crore in March, data with the depositories showed. However, on the other hand, inflows into <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/stock-market/news/inflows-into-equity-mutual-funds-almost-halved-in-may-compared-to-april/articleshow/100875699.cms">equity mutual funds almost halved</a> to ₹3,240 crore in May, compared to ₹6,480 in April as high market valuations made investors book profits and stay away from fresh investments. Asian markets mixed, US markets upbeat The US stocks markets closed in the green after the S&amp;P 500 closed 0.1% up, and the tech heavy Nasdaq Composite went up by 0.16%. Asian markets on the other hand are giving out mixed cues. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading 0.6% higher, while SGX Nifty is trading 0.3% higher as of 8:19 am. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading 0.5% lower, along with South Korea’s index KOSPI that was trading 0.3% lower. Brent crude too fell in today’s trade by 0.8% to trade at $73.2 per barrel. Stocks in news TVS Motor: The company’s financial services arm TVC Credit Services received an investment from Premjiinvest. The latter will take up 9.7% equity in the company for ₹737 crore in primary and secondary investments. SAIL: State owned LIC has raised stake in the PSU steel major by 2% to 8.67% via open market purchases. LIC said that it raised stake through purchases between October 14, 2021 to June 8, 2023. Vedanta: The company has emerged as the highest bidder for an iron ore mine in Goa in a tender invited by the state government. It won the block VII - Cudnem mineral block, via an electronic auction, the company said on Saturday. The grant of the lease will be subject to making payments and meeting other terms and conditions. Cochin Shipyard: Cochin Shipyard said on Friday that it won a ₹300 crore contract from the Indian Navy – for the mid-life upgrade of a ship. The contract will last for the duration of 24 months.

The software products business will be acquired by a newly formed Azentio Software company, wholly-owned by the Apax Funds, a statement said. Reliance Capital Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group company, Reliance Capital on Monday raised objection to the proposed 33.12% stake sale of Prime Focus (PFL) by Credit Suisse to PFL’s promoter group at ₹44.15 per share. The debt-ridden firm, Reliance Capital, termed the proposed transaction as a blatant abuse of the purported rights by Credit Suisse under certain lending agreements with the RCAP Group, the company said in a statement. Major display panel maker <keyword id="135366" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="LG-Display">LG Display</keyword> Co has swung to the black in the third quarter of the year on the back of <keyword id="475882" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="robust-demand">robust demand</keyword> for displays used in IT gadgets and increased shipments of large-size panels for <keyword id="62356" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="TVS">TVs</keyword> amid the pandemic-driven stay-at-home trend. The company chalked up a net profit of $9.8 million in the July-September period, shifting from a loss of 442.2 billion won a year earlier. It also logged an operating profit of 164.4 billion won in the third quarter, swinging from an operating loss of 436.7 billion won a year ago. Sales rose 15.7 percent to 6.73 trillion won over the cited period. This is the first time since the fourth quarter of 2018 that the company posted an operating profit. LG Display attributed the turnaround to increased supply of displays for IT products and plastic OLED panels for mobile devices, reports Yonhap news agency. Panels for IT products accounted for 43 percent of its revenue in the third quarter. TV panels accounted for 28 percent of its revenue, while mobile display products made up 29 percent of its sales. LG Display said it plans to double the shipment of large-size OLED panels in the second half of the year compared to the first half as operation of its Guangzhou plant is in full swing. The company aims to supply more than 7 million units of large-size OLED display panels next year. To cope with rising demand for panels for IT products, driven by the work-from-home trend and remote learning, the company said it will convert more of its LCD TV panel production lines to IT display manufacturing lines. LG Display said it expects the strong demand for IT panels to continue through the first half of 2021. LG Display logs profit in 2 years as IT gadgets, TVs demand soar

The IPO lane is getting busy as companies have lined up initial public offerings worth Rs 20,000 crore in the coming months to fund their business expansion and meworking capital requirements, according to a news report by PTI. 
 
The year 2016 saw 26 companies collectively raising over Rs 26,000 crore trough their respective IPOs, making it the best in six years. 
 
Hudco, NSE, Central Depository Services Ltd, Nakshatra World and Cochin Shipyard are among the names that plan to launch share-sale offers in coming months. 
 
Most of these companies plan to utilise initial public offer (IPO) proceeds for business expansion as well as working capital requirements. 
 
Besides, the firms are taking IPO route to achieve benefits of listing the equity shares on the bourses. 
 
Some of the firms believe the listing of the equity shares will enhance their brand name and provide liquidity to the existing shareholders. 
 
At present, five companies -- Hudco, Central Depository Services Ltd, S Chand and Company, Genesis Colors and Security &amp; Intelligence Services (India) Ltd -- have secured Sebi's go-ahead to float their respective public offers. 
 
In addition, 11 companies including GTPL Hathway, NSE, Bharat Road Network, Tejas Networks, Eris Lifesciences, Salasar Techno Engineering, Au Financiers, Prataap Snacks, PSP Projects are awaiting the regulator's approval to float IPOs. 
 
Together, these companies are expected to raise about Rs Rs 20,000 crore. 
 
Moreover, companies like SBI Life Insurance are expected to file IPO papers in the near future. 
 
Besides, five companies including leading bourse BSE and Avenue Supermarts, the operator of retail chain D-Mart, have already hit the Dalal Street this year so far. 
 
NSE's IPO will see existing shareholders offloading 20-25 per cent shares to the public through the OFS route. 
 
It is expected to be one of the biggest in recent times, with an estimated size of over Rs 10,000 crore, sources said. 
According to experts, the IPO market is expected to see some activity this year as half a dozen companies have filed their draft papers with Sebi in 2017 so far to launch public offers and many are awaiting the regulator's nod. 
 
Also, proactive regulatory environment coupled with general uplift in investor sentiment has helped the IPO market. 
 
Market watchdog Sebi has taken numerous steps that are encouraging companies to sell shares. One key enabler was making Asba (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) mandatory for all investors, including retail. Also, Sebi's proactive approach to the market has ensured that investors need not fear about frauds. 
 
Quantum AMC Director I V Subramaniam said, "Attractively priced IPO will get a solid response from investors as its chances of listing with gains get higher. Conversely, if an IPO is over-priced, it may not be able to list attractively".

India's current INS Viraat aircraft carrier is set to retire next year after 56 years of service in the Indian navy. With a fleet of only 11 aging Harrier jump jets and a host of mechanical and restoration costs, it isn't economically or strategically viable to continue operating the vessel. As the retirement will leave the Indian navy with only one other carrier, the INS Vikramaditya. So India has decided to speed up the development of its own aircraft carrier, <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/India-now-puts-aircraft-carrier-plan-on-fast-track/articleshow/46336472.cms">according</a> to The Times of India.Although the vessel's exact size and propulsion system are still being proposed, India is planning for the Vishal to be a fully modern aircraft carrier. The Diplomat <a href="http://thediplomat.com/2015/02/indias-new-aircraft-carrier-plans-may-get-a-boost/">reports</a> that the Vishal will displace 65,000 tons and will be constructed with US-provided Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch Systems (EMALS). This would allow the carrier to launch aircraft at a faster rate with improved ease, compared to previous Indian carriers. Aside from EMALS, USNI News <a href="http://news.usni.org/2015/02/23/indian-navy-set-to-accelerate-second-indigenous-carrier-as-u-k-built-viraat-carrier-is-set-to-decommission-next-year">reports</a> THAT the carrier will likely also feature a catapult assisted take-off but arrested recovery (CATOBAR) system similar to what's used aboard <a href="http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/nimitz/">US Nimitz-class</a> aircraft carriers. This system would allow the Vishal to launch a range of heavy fighters as well as surveillance planes. The Times of India <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/India-now-puts-aircraft-carrier-plan-on-fast-track/articleshow/46336472.cms">estimates</a> that the Vishal should be complete within 10 to 12 years. The development of the carrier will likely receive significant help from a <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2015/01/25/us-india-joint-statement-shared-effort-progress-all">bilateral agreement</a> between the US and India that lays the ground for "a working group to explore aircraft carrier technology sharing and design."Aside from the Vishal, India is developing a smaller carrier, the INS Vikrant. Much of that vessel has already been constructed, and it is expected to be ready for induction in 2018 to 2019.
