INDIA bloc leaders gathered at <keyword id="19895812" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jantar-Mantar" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Jantar Mantar" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Jantar Mantar">Jantar Mantar</keyword> here on Tuesday to demand the release of Delhi Chief Minister <keyword id="19901384" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal" source="keywords">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> amid his declining health and hit out at the BJP-led Centre for "suppressing" the voice of <keyword id="19895395" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="opposition" source="keywords">opposition</keyword>. They also blamed the Centre for obstructing the work of the Delhi government, therefore leading to the recent incident in Rajinder Nagar where three students died after getting trapped in a flooded basement of a coaching centre. Slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "End dictatorship" were raised during the <keyword id="19895811" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="protest" source="keywords">protest</keyword> rally called by the <keyword id="19914482" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="AAP" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="AAP">AAP</keyword>. CPI(ML) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya said three senior AAP leaders -- Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were put in jail as "part of a conspiracy". He also accused the Centre of obstructing the work of the Delhi government, and held them responsible for the situation in the national capital, including the Rajinder Nagar coaching centre deaths. "The Modi government is responsible for the anarchy in Delhi. This anarchy took the lives of the three <keyword id="20217536" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="UPSC-aspirants" source="keywords">UPSC aspirants</keyword> in Rajinder Nagar. <keyword id="19894848" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BJP" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="BJP" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="BJP">BJP</keyword> took the lives of three UPSC aspirants," Bhattacharya said during the rally. "They tried to end AAP, weaken Delhi government as part of a conspiracy. The elected chief minister is in jail. Umar Khalid and many activists are in jail in false charges in Delhi riots. Bhima Koregaon fake case, father Stan Swamy was in jail and he even died while in custody. There is a huge conspiracy against leaders, activists," he said. The BJP-led Centre is "trying to suppress the voice of those who oppose them", he said. "Six months ago when Arvind ji, Hemant ji were arrested, we knew it was a conspiracy because Lok Sabha elections were there," he said. "Hemant ji came out, there was an appeal to stop his bail but it was dismissed. Kejriwal ji was released for less than a month. Now though he has been given a bail there is a conspiracy to keep him in jail," he said. "It is a conspiracy to finish a democratically elected government and a political party," Bhattacharya said, urging the people to give their reply to the BJP in upcoming assembly polls in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand by defeating the BJP. "The recent mandate has proved that people won't tolerate tyranny. We will ensure justice,"he added. Communist Party of India general secretary D Raja also demanded the immediate release of the Delhi chief minister, and expressed concerns about his health. "After BJP's coming to power, democracy is no longer 'for' the people, democracy is 'far' from people, democracy is not 'of' the people, it is 'off' the people, and it is not 'by' the people, it is 'buy' the people," Raja said. "Kejriwal is one of the victims of the central agencies used by the Modi government. Can we allow this? How much longer can we tolerate this situation in the country. Kejriwal is not well and his health has deteriorated," he said. AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai said Kejriwal's sugar levels are going down in custody. "He was granted bail by trial court and Supreme Court but a conspiracy was hatched to keep him in jail. Why does BJP want to put opposition leaders in jail? Who is responsible for the deaths of the three UPSC aspirants?" Rai said. "When LG is being asked about the incident, he is quiet. The BJP, which is demanding Kejriwal's resignation, snatched away the powers of the Delhi government. They want rights but run away when they are held accountable," he charged. has been accusing the BJP of "conspiring to kill" Kejriwal in jail and cited his medical report to show that his sugar levels have fallen 34 times between June 3 and July 7. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari referred to Kejriwal's wife Sunita as a "symbol of resistance" as he began his address. "We have come to give complete moral support to AAP and Kejriwal on behalf of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the struggle against illegal arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. The arrest of Kejriwal in an illegal and unconstitutional manner indicate nothing but the bad intentions of the BJP," he alleged. Tiwari said it was "height" of inhumanity to keep Kejriwal in jail despite his medical reports showing dip in his blood sugar to a dangerous level. The Congress and AAP had fought the recent Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in alliance. AAP had fielded candidates on four seats and Congress on three seats. However, the alliance drew a blank. Gogoi warned the BJP and its leaders saying they cannot scare the opposition whether it is AAP, Congress or any other party. "Their illusion lies shattered with this rally. If fair Lok Sabha elections had been held in 2024, the BJP would have been in opposition and we would have been in power. The BJP-led government is not going to complete its five-year term," he stressed. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam and has been granted bail by the Supreme Court. However, he is currently lodged in Tihar in a connected CBI case.

A Delhi court on Monday sent Chief Minister <keyword id="19901384" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="arvind-kejriwal" source="keywords">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> to <keyword id="6358969" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="judicial-custody" source="Orion">judicial custody</keyword> till April 15, while the AAP supremo moved an application to have three books -- Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and How Prime Ministers Decide. He was produced before Special <keyword id="21152631" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Judge-Kaweri-Baweja" source="Orion">Judge Kaweri Baweja</keyword> of the Rouse Avenue Court on the expiry of his previously extended <keyword id="6357808" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Enforcement-Directorate" source="Orion">Enforcement Directorate</keyword> (ED) custody in connection with the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. On March 28, Judge Baweja had extended his ED custody, holding that there were "sufficient reasons". However, she had allowed him to meet his family members and lawyers. On Monday, the CM was produced amid heavy security while counsel for both ED and <keyword id="19919267" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cm-kejriwal" source="keywords">CM Kejriwal</keyword> made submissions virtually. The ASG made another similar submission as last time saying that CM Kejriwal isn't giving password to his phone. The court was told by ASG that the ED might seek his custody later. After a brief hearing, the judge sent CM Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15. The accused has also moved an application to be provided with a special diet, medicines, books and religious locket which he wore while being in custody. Earlier, the probe agency had sought the Chief Minister's custody for seven more days. However, after hearing the arguments, the court had extended the AAP supremo's ED remand by four days till April 1, observing that there appear to be "sufficient reasons" to permit his further custodial interrogation, particularly keeping in view the submissions of the ED. The probe agency had submitted that he is required to be confronted with the material collected and statements recorded so far in the course of the investigation. The court had directed the investigation officer to ensure that further interrogation and confrontation, etc., of the accused is done without any delay. Judge Baweja had allowed CM Kejriwal to meet his family members, including his wife, daughter, PA and advocates. Moreover, the court had directed the agency to conduct the interrogation at a place with CCTV coverage and for the preservation of the footage. The ED was also asked to provide the requisite medication to CM Kejriwal and get him medically examined in accordance with the law during the period of his custody. The ED arrested CM Kejriwal on March 21 after questioning him for over two hours at his official residence in Delhi. The ED has termed CM Kejriwal the "kingpin and the key conspirator" of the alleged excise scam in collusion with other ministers of the Delhi government, AAP leaders, and other persons.

Excise policy case: Delhi court sends CM Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15

Delhi Chief Minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> will announce tomorrow the dates for reintroduction of the 'odd-even' scheme in Delhi. Transport Minister <keyword id="6391020" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gopal-Rai">Gopal Rai</keyword> said that the government will make the announcement after reviewing over 11 lakh responses received from the public through multiple channels today. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia suggested that the licence plate policy will be back "once again" while sources said that its next phase could be enforced in April after the <keyword id="658072" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBSE-Board-examinations">CBSE Board examinations</keyword>. 

	"The scheme is all set to make a comeback. Ministers including the Chief Minister will announce the dates in a press conference tomorrow," sources said. 
 

	Earlier, Rai tweeted, "Delhi government will take a decision on the future of odd-even tomorrow. The public feedback report is being prepared today." 
 The <keyword id="3240421" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="road-rationing-experiment">road rationing experiment</keyword>, aimed at curbing air pollution in the metropolis, was implemented from January 1-15 in its first phase with Sundays being exempted from it. 

	Subsequently, the government invited public opinion through emails, missed calls, online forms and also reached out to around 9 lakh people through interactive voice response system. 
 

	"Around 28,300 suggestions have been received through online forms while another 9,000 and 1,82,808 have come through emails and missed called respectively. The government, on its part, has made more than 9,00,000 calls to gather public opinion," a senior government official said. 
 <keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword> MLAs, who organised Jan Sabhas on the same theme, have claimed that public opinion was "overwhelmingly" in favour of re-introduction of the scheme.

Kejriwal claimed that CBI conducted raids on his office.

Ravi Shankar Prasad replied to Kejriwal’s claims and said, “CBI has already clarified Delhi CM's office has not been raided. CBI has raided after proper search warrant from the court. There is no law that states that Kejriwal should have been informed about the raids.” 
 
The Union minister also slammed Kejriwal for calling Modi a “psychopath”. 
 
“Kejriwal should apologize to PM for using words like coward. It's totally uncalled for, unwarranted and shameful,” said Prasad. 
 
The CBI registered a case against Rajendra Kumar, Secretary to the Delhi CM, on the allegation of abusing his official position by favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders from Delhi government departments. 
 
Kumar has been accused by Ashish Joshi, member secretary, Delhi dialogue Commission. 
 
Searches are being conducted in Kumar’s office and residence. 
 
Joshi had filed the same case in the past with the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government, too. 
 
“Should we presume that you did not undertake any due diligence while appointing your secretary? CBI must be allowed to do its work in a free and fair manner," said Prasad. 
 
Prasad also accused Kejriwal of adding "political colour" to the CBI raids. 
 
"Allegations against Rajendra Kumar are very serious. Why is Arvind defending someone facing charges?" he asked.

Interacting with a large crowd of mediapersons at his native village Ralegan-Siddhi this morning, Anna <keyword id="21049541" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="hazare" source="keywords">Hazare</keyword>, 86, recalled his old association with Arvind Kejriwal during the India Against Corruption (IAC)'s long movement in New Delhi in 2011, and other places. "I remember, he was working with me and we both had raised our voices against liquor... But now he's trying to accord legal sanction to liquor. I felt very hurt by it," lamented Hazare. However, he said nothing can be done against the government and CM Kejriwal has been arrested for his own dark acts. "If he had not done such things (liquor policy), this (arrest) would not have happened. Now, the law shall take its course, the government will see and decide what has to be done," declared Hazare flatly. This was Hazare's first reaction after his former close associate Arvind Kejriwal was detained, questioned and then arrested by the <keyword id="19895344" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="enforcement-directorate" source="keywords">Enforcement Directorate</keyword> late on Thursday, sparking an uproar from opposition political circles.
