Grocery shops will be permitted to open on May 13 only. Mediapersons will have the permission to move around during the curfew if they have their IDs with them. People coming from outside the state will have to bring a negative RT-PCR report, not older than 72 hours. Departments providing essential services will open with attendance of only 50 per cent of their staff during the period. People have been advised to defer marriages if they can. Not more than 20 persons will be allowed to gather for marriages or funerals during the period. People aged 18-44, whose inoculation begins from May 10, can visit the vaccination centres after they produce documents showing their registration. Uttarakhand government imposes stricter COVID curfew in the state from May 11 till May 18

Amidst the continuous spike in Covid-19 cases in <keyword id="6360078" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="chandigarh">Chandigarh</keyword>, the <keyword id="151048" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Territory-administration">Union Territory administration</keyword> on Monday decided to extend the week-old curfew by another week. Chandigarh government extends COVID curfew for another week

This is the sixth round of debt financing in 2021, the company said. SME lending startup BharatPe raises ₹50 crore in debt from Northern Arc Capital

Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech has started direct supplies of its Covid-19 vaccine <keyword id="9485939" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="covaxin">Covaxin</keyword> to 14 states. The states are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, <keyword id="23412" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jammu-Kashmir">Jammu &amp; Kashmir</keyword>, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword>, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The Hyderabad-based company said it started the supplies based on the allocations received by the <keyword id="6377129" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="government-of-india">Government of India</keyword>. "Requests have been received from other states, &amp; will be processed for distribution based on availability of stocks 24x7," tweeted Bharat Biotech co-founder and Joint Managing Director Suchitra Ella. The company, however, has not come out with details of the supplies like the number of doses supplied to the states. Bharat Biotech on April 24 announced pricing for Covaxin. It fixed the price of Covaxin at ₹600 per dose for state governments. However, it later slashed the price to ₹400. This came after <keyword id="95879" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Serum-Institute-of-India">Serum Institute of India</keyword> (SII) cut the price of Covishield to ₹300 from ₹400 earlier. The two vaccine makers slashed the prices after the central government reportedly made a request to them amid the row over different pricing for the central and state governments. For private hospitals, Bharat Biotech fixed the price at ₹1,200 per dose. This is twice the cost fixed for Covishield. For exports, Bharat Biotech has priced India's first indigenous Covid vaccine at $15-$20 (₹1,125-1,500). Ever since the launch of Covid vaccination programme in India, Bharat Biotech and SII have been supplying their vaccines to the Centre at ₹150 per dose. While Bharat Biotech is likely to continue the supplies to the Centre at the same price, SII is seeking to revise this to ₹400. Both Bharat Biotech and SII have announced that they are reserving 50 per cent of their production capacities for supplies to the central government. Bharat Biotech begins COVAXIN supply to 14 states based on central government's guidance

The startup, founded in 2019 by Satish Mugulavalli and Srinivas Katta, is incubated at IndusLaw. The startup manages ownership data of a company, automates share issuance processes and provides tools to track cap tables and manage transactions. RuleZero is also a marketplace, which connects with other legal or fintech product and service providers. Katta said in a press statement that “manual processes, limited number of skilled professionals and the absence of a single source of truth has resulted in private companies suffering from compliance issues, limited liquidity, high financing costs and delays.” He claims that RuleZero is solving this issue. Mugulavalli has been an entrepreneur with many startups in Silicon Valley and India and was most recently a partner at YourNest Venture Capital, an investment firm. Katta, a corporate lawyer, is one of the founding partners of IndusLaw. The decision was taken during the HPC meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday, he said. The HPC decided that the week-long total lockdown will be enforced with a view to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission, said Kronu. He also said that existing restrictions will continue till total lockdown is in place while New SOPs would also be issued. However, Kronu said that essential services including agricultural activities will be exempted from the purview of the lockdown. Nagaland government on May 3 announced containment zones in some areas of the state capital <keyword id="172359" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kohima">Kohima</keyword> and commercial hub <keyword id="6367212" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="dimapur">Dimapur</keyword> for seven days from 7 pm of May 5 following surge in COVID-19 cases, which will end at 7 pm on Wednesday. However, there has not been any respite in the positivity rate as there has been an increase of 1,279 COVID-19 cases in five days. As on May 5, the state had 15,004 positive cases with 2,038 active cases but the positive cases have gone up to 16,283 and active cases to 2,884 till May 10. In the five days 32 COVID-19 positive patients also died increasing the death toll in the state from 118 on May 5 to 150 on May 10. State government departments will continue to function with a core team formed by the Heads of Department, he said. Construction activities may be permitted by contractors or firms adhering to all the SOPs for the workers, the HPC decided. Nagaland to go under full lockdown for seven days from May 14 till May 21

India achieved the goal in 114 days, while the US touched the figure in 115 days and China took 119 days for reaching the same landmark. A total of 17,01,76,603 vaccine doses have been administered through 24,70,799 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 a.m. on Monday. These include 95,47,102 <keyword id="893440" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="healthcare-workers">Healthcare Workers</keyword> (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 64,71,385 HCWs who have taken the second dose. A total of 1,39,72,612 Frontline Workers (FLWs) have also received the first dose while 77,55,283 have got the second dose of the vaccine. A total of 20,31,854 beneficiaries under 18-45 age group have so far recived the first dose of vaccine. The people aged between 45 and 60 years included 5,51,79,217 first dose beneficiaries and 65,61,851 who got their second dose. A total of 5,36,74,082 first dose beneficiaries are in the age group more than 60 years and 1,49,83,217 of them who have received the second dose. A total of 2,46,269 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of Covid vaccine on Sunday and cumulatively 20,31,854 across 30 states and UTs during the last 24 hours. As on Day-114 of the vaccination drive (9th May, 2021), 6,89,652 vaccine doses were given. Across 5,685 sessions, 4,05,325 beneficiaries were vaccinated for first dose and 2,84,327 beneficiaries received their second dose of vaccine. The information comes at a time when the country registered 3,66,161 new cases in the last 24 hours. India administers 17 crore vaccines in 114 days, still a long way to go

The dip in new cases, the lowest since April 12, can also be ascribed to a smaller number of tests (66,234) conducted on Sunday. At 19.10 per cent, the positivity rate is the lowest since April 16, when it stood at 19.7 percent, according to government data. The positivity rate has remained above the 20 per cent mark since April 17. It was 21.67 per cent on Sunday, 23.34 per cent on Saturday, 24.92 per cent on Friday, 24.29 per cent on Thursday, 26.37 per cent on Wednesday, 26.73 per cent on Tuesday, 29.56 per cent on last Monday, 28.33 per cent on last Sunday and 31.6 per cent on last Saturday. On April 22, a positivity rate of 36.2 per cent, the highest so far, was recorded. Delhi had reported 13,336 cases on Sunday, 17,364 on Saturday, 19,832 on Friday, 19,133 on Thursday, 20,960 on Wednesday, 19,953 on Tuesday, 18,043 on last Monday, 20,394 cases on last Sunday and 25,219 on last Saturday. The city had witnessed 273 deaths on Sunday, 332 deaths on Saturday, 341 on Friday, 335 on Thursday, 311 on Wednesday, 338 on Tuesday, 448 on last Monday, the highest so far, 407 on last Sunday, 412 on last Saturday, and 375 on last Friday. The national capital conducted 66,234 tests, including 57,265 RTPCR/CBNAAT/True Nat tests on Sunday. Over 13,300 people recovered from the infection during the period, the health bulletin said. There are 85,258 active cases in the city and 52,451 of them are in home isolation, it said. The number of cumulative cases stands at 13,36,218 and the death toll at 19,663. Over 12.31 lakh people have either recovered, migrated out or have been discharged, according to a health bulletin. Of the 22,667 hospital beds for coronavirus patients in the city, 3,229 are vacant, it said. Mark Penn's MDC-Stagwell merger faces more opposition

A day after <keyword id="826" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Goa">Goa</keyword>'s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane recommended ivermectin to all above 18 to combat <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">Covid</keyword> in the state, the <keyword id="6356311" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="World-Health-Organisation">World Health Organisation</keyword> on Tuesday has warned against its use. "Safety and efficacy are important when using any drug for a new indication. @WHO recommends against the use of ivermectin for #COVID19 except within clinical trials," Soumya Swaminathan, the global health body's chief scientist, said in a tweet. The Goa state government on Monday cleared a new Covid treatment protocol which recommends all residents above the age of 18 to take five tablets of the ivermectin drug, in order to prevent the steep and sometimes fatal viral fever, which accompanies a <keyword id="8763838" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19">Covid-19</keyword> infection. Rane, while speaking to reporters, said that the ivermectin drug would be made available at all health centres in the state and should be taken by all residents, irrespective of whether they have Covid-19 symptoms or otherwise. Last week, a peer-reviewed research had claimed that global ivermectin use can end Covid-19 pandemic, as the medicine significantly reduces the risk of contracting the deadly respiratory disease when used regularly. The peer review, which included three US government senior scientists and was published in the American Journal of Therapeutics, touted the common anti-parasitic ivermectin as a miracle cure for Covid-19 by doctors and campaigners the world over. In her tweet, Swaminathan also attached a warning issued by the German health care and life sciences giant Merck. "Scientists continue to carefully examine the findings of all available and emerging studies of ivermectin for the treatment of Covid-19," read the statement from Merck. "...to-date, our analysis has identified: No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against Covid-19 from pre-clinical studies; No meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with Covid-19 disease, and; A concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies," the statement added. The WHO had, in March, issued a similar warning against the use of ivermectin in treating Covid patients. The global health agency said that there was a "very low certainty of evidence" on ivermectin's effects on mortality, hospital admission and getting rid of the virus from the body. Rane also stated that expert panels from the UK, Italy, Spain and Japan, found a large, statistically significant reduction in mortality, time to recovery and viral clearance in Covid-19 patients treated with ivermectin. The <keyword id="6356255" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="us-food-and-drug-administration">US Food and Drug Administration</keyword> (<keyword id="6354656" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="fda">FDA</keyword>) had also, in April last year, recommended against the use of ivermectin in treating Covid patients. Besides, the Union ministry of health and family welfare had also reportedly opted out from including Ivermectin in its official Clinical Management Protocol for Covid-19 last year. WHO reiterates its stand against using Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, a day after Goa’s health minister recommended it

Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said <keyword id="66" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword> has only one day's Covaxin stock left and its Covishield doses will last for just three to four days. The minister's remarks came a day after Chief Minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> urged the Centre to direct manufacturers to increase vaccine supplies to the capital between May and July. "Covaxin doses can last up to one day only, while Covishield doses can last up to three to four days," Jain told reporters after reviewing preparations at Guru Teg Bahadur <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword> Care Centre at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in central Delhi. Delhi has so far received 5.5 lakh doses of <keyword id="8901548" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus-vaccines">coronavirus vaccines</keyword> for the 18-44 category, and over 43 lakh doses for 45-plus, and healthcare and frontline workers, according to government data released on Sunday. Around 39 lakh doses have been administered in the national capital so far. Till Sunday evening, Delhi had 4.65 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccines available for those above 45, and healthcare and frontline workers, while 2.74 lakh doses were available for the 18-44 age category. The health minister said the dip in the positivity rate and the number of new infections over the last fortnight is a "glimmer of hope". "The number of cases has reduced from around 28,000 to 13,000 now. The positivity rate has come down from a high of 36 per cent to around 20 per cent," Jain said. He, however, said there's no room for any leniency and urged everyone to keep their guard up. Jain said the 400-bed Guru Teg Bahadur COVID Care Centre has been attached with the Delhi government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. The <keyword id="6427062" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-sikh-gurdwara-management-committee">Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee</keyword> has provided the infrastructure for the facility and the Delhi government has given medical support, he said. Manjinder Singh <keyword id="6379504" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="sirsa">Sirsa</keyword>, president of the <keyword id="6541108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="dsgmc">DSGMC</keyword>, said the COVID care centre will be managed by 50 doctors from <keyword id="6394484" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lnjp-hospital">LNJP Hospital</keyword>. They will be supported by a team of 150 nurses and ward boys. All beds have oxygen concentrators. The facility has a backup of 150 D-type cylinders. It has all the essential drugs, including Remdesivir and Fabiflu, used in the treatment of COVID-19, Sirsa said. "Patients who need up to 20 litres per minute of oxygen can be treated here," he said, adding that the treatment and food will be completely free. Delhi left with only one day’s stock of Covaxin, says state Health Minister Satyendar Jain

The Centre appealed to states on Tuesday to prioritise vaccinating those due for second dose of COVID-19 <keyword id="24209" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="vaccine">vaccine</keyword> and reserve at least 70 per cent of the shots supplied from the central pool for the purpose. States have also been urged to minimise wastage of vaccine doses, the health ministry said in a statement. All wastage more than the national average hereafter is to be adjusted from the subsequent allocations to that state or union territory. The urgent need to address a large number of beneficiaries waiting for second dose of vaccine was stressed in a meeting held by <keyword id="700200" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-Health">Union Health</keyword> Secretary Rajesh Bhushan and Dr R S Sharma, the Chairman of Empowered Group on Technology and Data Management to <keyword id="20628" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Combat">Combat</keyword> COVID-19, with state officials to review the status of COVID-19 vaccination on Tuesday. States were urged to "ensure all beneficiaries who have taken the first dose are prioritised for the second doses", the ministry said in the statement. In this regard, states can reserve at least 70 per cent of the vaccines supplied to them from the Government of <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> channel for second dose vaccination and the remaining 30 per cent for first dose. "This however is indicative. States have the liberty to enhance this to as much as 100 per cent. State-wise numbers on CoWIN have been shared with states for their planning purposes. "The states were asked to undertake awareness campaign for reinforcing the importance of complete vaccination with two doses of the vaccine," the statement said. Presenting details of states who have ensured high coverage of priority groups (like population aged 45+, frontline workers and healthcare workers) and the others, the Union Health secretary urged states to ensure that priority groups are vaccinated. States have been informed in a transparent manner in advance about the <keyword id="8764262" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid">COVID</keyword> vaccines being provided to them from <keyword id="60397" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Govt-of-India">Govt of India</keyword> channel. The visibility for the forthcoming fortnight is conveyed to them in advance to enable better and more effective planning by them, the statement stated. The next allocation for the period 15-31th May will be conveyed to them on May 14. It was pointed out that states can utilize the information regarding dose allocation for the next 15 days to plan their vaccination sessions. States were also urged to minimise vaccine wastage, the statement said. While the overall levels have considerably reduced, Union Health Secretary pointed that there were many states which still needed to substantially reduce the wastage. It was suggested to states and UTs to retrain and reorient vaccinators to ensure judicious usage of the vaccines. "All wastage more than the national average hereafter is to be adjusted from the subsequent allocations to that state and UT," the statement said. In this context, it was also pointed out that certain states are able to report a negative wastage because the well-trained health workers can extract maximum doses per vial than what is otherwise generally earmarked. States were also briefed about procurement from the 'Other than Government of India' (OGoI) channel which has been opened in the Liberalised Phase-III Strategy of Vaccination. In view of the payments pending from states to the private vaccine manufacturers, the states were advised to constitute a dedicated team at state level of 2 or 3 senior officers to coordinate with vaccine manufacturers on a daily basis and secure <keyword id="97535" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="state-govt">State Govt</keyword>. supplies promptly, the statement said. This team is to also coordinate with private hospitals to facilitate their procurement thereby maintaining the momentum of the overall vaccination exercise in the State. The CoWIN platform is also being modified to better reflect the changing needs of the vaccination exercise, the statement said. The states can download a second dose due report to better plan the completion of vaccination of the target groups., the statement said. The District Immunization Officer and <keyword id="10607252" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Covid-vaccination-centre">COVID Vaccination Centre</keyword> Manager can increase the session capacity according to demand and can also visualise the target group in their upcoming sessions. Beneficiaries without relevant photo ID cards like senior citizens at old-age homes, etc., can also be registered, the ministry said. The reaction to his “hustle” garnered a mixed response, something which was easily visible on the <a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite" data-type="tilCustomLink">cryptocurrency’s</a> charts. While enthusiasts were glued to the screen, trying to make sense of the chaos, many with sinister intentions had wreaked havoc on social media sites. <a href="https://twitter.com/dogecoin/status/1391346601029996546?s=20" data-type="tilCustomLink">The Dogecoin team has warned </a>against promises of crypto giveaways or schemes that promise multiplication of wealth. These are essentially scams that are trying to take advantage of users amid a volatile period. Social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook are the most vulnerable platforms since it’s easier to use bots and create a short-lived hype. Illegitimate accounts constantly flood the forums with claims of a scheme that it will multiply one’s Dogecoin holdings. The unsuspecting user is then asked to send some money to an anonymous address and they expect a multiplied sum to be returned soon. While this may sound too naive, many users fell for the trick as rumours suggested Elon Musk could promote the <a href="https://wazirx.com/signup?invite=2kpah6gr&amp;utm_source=business-insider&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=microsite" data-type="tilCustomLink">cryptocurrency</a> in a big way. Nobody knew how he’d do it, allowing scam artists to play ‘Elon Musk’ and get richer. <div type="image" title="Bitcoin Scam Cryptocurrency" msid="82550058" hostid="261"></div> More sophisticated methods were also deployed by criminals to capture the attention of users on YouTube. During the Saturday Night Live broadcast, live videos that unofficially streamed the show were targeted with ads saying, “Elon Musk has devoted 500,000,000 Doge to be distributed to all Doge holders. Anybody can get some, just visit the website.” When the user completed the transfer, the Dogecoins were credited into the scammer’s wallet. Once the transfer is done, there’s no way money can be recovered without law enforcement or direct access to the ledger. This is actually a feature that offers privacy but takes away the ability to investigate. TRM Labs, a blockchain intelligence provider, stated that the affiliated wallets received almost 10 million Dogecoins. Many of these coins have been purposely transferred by the scammer itself to show that a large volume isn’t suspicious for the account. It’s suggested that users don’t fall for these claims and transact only with people they know. These “get rich, quick” schemes should always raise a red alarm. The modus operandi isn’t exclusive to just Dogecoin and is used for <keyword id="6354947" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="bitcoin">Bitcoin</keyword>, Ethereum, and more. Last week, Realme India’s Twitter account was compromised and its name was changed to “Tesla”. It pretended to be an official account and asked users to transfer <keyword id="6395759" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bitcoins">Bitcoins</keyword> to an obscure address. It was a high-level scam that was quickly brought under control by the brand. Amid Dogecoin rally, users need to be careful not to fall prey to cryptocurrency giveaway scams

<keyword id="6367091" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="petrol">Petrol</keyword> and <keyword id="6356109" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="diesel">diesel</keyword> <keyword id="6366990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Prices">prices</keyword> on Tuesday were hiked for the sixth time this month, propelling prices to cross the ₹100-a-litre-mark in places from Nanded in <keyword id="13126" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Maharashtra">Maharashtra</keyword> to Rewa in Madhya Pradesh to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Petrol price was hiked by 27 paise a litre and diesel by 30 paise per litre, according to a price notification by state-owned fuel retailers. The increase took petrol and diesel prices to their highest-ever level across the country. In <keyword id="66" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi">Delhi</keyword>, petrol now comes for ₹91.80 per litre and diesel is priced at ₹82.36. This was the sixth increase in prices since May 4, when the state-owned oil firms ended an 18-day hiatus in rate revision they observed during assembly elections in states like West Bengal. The price increase led to petrol rates crossing the ₹100-mark in more places of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as <keyword id="6370857" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="VAT">VAT</keyword> and freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest value-added tax (VAT) on petrol in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh. Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan had the costliest petrol and diesel in the country at ₹102.70 per litre and ₹95.06 a litre respectively. Also in Rajasthan, petrol crossed the ₹100-mark in Jaisalmer (₹100.71) and Bikaner (₹100.70) while it neared that mark in Barmer (₹99.82). Petrol in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Shahdol (₹102.06), Rewa (₹102.04), Chhindwara (₹101.67) and Balaghat (₹101.98) crossed the physiological mark. It neared that mark in Indore (₹99.90 a litre) and Bhopal (₹99.83). If rates continue to raise, Bhopal will be the first state capital to see petrol at ₹100. In Nanded district of Maharashtra, petrol was being sold at ₹100.30. In six increases, petrol price has risen by ₹1.41 per litre and diesel by ₹1.63. Oil companies, who have in recent months resorted to unexplained freeze in rate revision, had hit a pause button after cutting prices marginally on April 15. This coincided with electioneering hitting peak to elect new governments in five states including West Bengal. No sooner had voting ended, oil companies indicated an impending increase in retail prices in view of firming trends in international oil markets. They said prices have been on a continuous uptrend since April 27. Central and state taxes make up for 60 per cent of the retail selling price of petrol and over 54 per cent of diesel. The union government levies ₹32.90 per litre of excise duty on petrol and ₹31.80 on diesel. In Mumbai, the petrol price was hiked to ₹98.12 a litre on Tuesday from ₹97.86, while diesel rates were increased to ₹89.48 from ₹89.17, the price notification showed.
