She lives somewhere in the United States," the bio on the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/authors/2280440/elly-conway/">Penguin Random House website</a> reads.</p><p>The description on the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.penguin.co.uk/authors/289211/elly-conway?tab=penguin-biography">UK version</a> of the site is similarly vague but claims that Conway is a New Yorker.</p><p>"Elly Conway was born and raised in upstate New York. She wrote her first novel about Agent Argylle while working as a waitress in a late-night diner," the bio reads.</p><p>Conway's presence on <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/ellyconway">X</a>, formerly known as Twitter, and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C2idjoPSn4O/">Instagram</a> also don't give any unique glimpses into who the writer is.</p><p>Investigations by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/argylle-elly-conway-henry-cavill-apple-spy-mystery-1235220772/"><u>The Hollywood Reporter</u></a>, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/if-taylor-swift-didnt-write-argylle-then-who-did"><u>Vanity Fair</u></a>, and the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/books/2024/01/09/argylle-author-identity-taylor-swift/"><u>Washington Post</u></a> turned up dry, with no concrete insights. "They are all stunning without it."</p><p>"Iconic," another commented. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Sofia Richie married Elliot Grainge on Saturday in Antibes, in the South of France.</li><li>Richie told Vogue she wore three custom Chanel gowns during her wedding weekend.</li></ul><p>Sofia Richie wore three custom-made Chanel gowns for her <a href="https://www.insider.com/sofia-richie-elliot-grainge-marry-wedding-photos-france-2023-4">wedding to Elliot Grainge in the S</a><a href="https://www.insider.com/sofia-richie-elliot-grainge-marry-wedding-photos-france-2023-4">outh of France</a> on Saturday, <a href="https://www.vogue.com/slideshow/sofia-richie-chanel-wedding-dress-fitting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Vogue</a>.</p><p>A <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZGCL7_LhPM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">behind-the-scenes Vogue</a> video of her final dress fitting, which took place weeks before the nuptials, showed that she brought her mother-in-law Caroline Grainge and her close friend Ali Meller with her to try on each gown at the Chanel atelier in Paris, France.</p><p>The clip was shared the same day as Sofia, 24, and Elliot, 30, <a href="https://www.insider.com/sofia-richie-elliot-grainge-marry-wedding-photos-france-2023-4">tied the knot</a> in a cozy wedding surrounded by loved ones at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, a year after they <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CclL4g2pUS0/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced their engagement</a>.</p><p>Sofia, the beauty director of Nude Stix and daughter of singer Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander, said she decided to have three dresses because there were three different events for the wedding: the rehearsal dinner, the wedding itself, and the afterparty.</p><p>She also said that what she envisioned for her dream wedding dress had evolved massively since becoming an adult.</p><p>"I always had this vision of like the big princess dress and going big, but as I got older, I realized that I wanted something a bit more simple," she said. "Maybe 'simple' is the wrong word because my dress is definitely not simple."</p><h2>Dress No. 1 — the rehearsal </h2><p>The first dress that Sofia tried on was the gown for the rehearsal dinner. It had sheer sleeves, a high neck, and heavy beading — and featured two-tier style. </p><p>"It honestly fits like a glove," Sofia said as she carefully walked around in the dress in front of the Chanel atelier staff and her mother-in-law. "But I feel like a princess, I really do." According to Madame Olivia Douchez, première of haute couture atelier, it took three months to create the dress.</p><p>Sofia said that as the rehearsal dinner dress code was cocktail attire and that the overall aesthetic would be vibrant and colorful, she wanted to wear a gown with a "sparkly, elegant perspective."</p><p>In terms of beauty, she said she would keep the makeup over the wedding weekend simple in order for it to feel "timeless" and "clean."</p><p>"I do not want to look back in 20 years and be like, 'She's a glamazon,'" Sofia said. </p><h2>Dress No. 2 — the afterparty</h2><p>Next up, Sofia tried on her afterparty gown — a corseted white mini dress featuring a chic bodice with a floral detail. </p><p>"This to me is like my little girl dream," she said, adding that the gown itself was inspired by an iconic look Claudia Schiffer wore for a 1993 Chanel runway. </p><p>"The fact that it's inspired off of Claudia Schiffer's runway look is iconic and dope," Sofia said. </p><p>Trying it on for the last time before the big weekend, Sofia said she was in love with the gown, which she paired with a simple veil and white kitten heels. "I feel like it's extremely traditional Chanel," she added. </p><p>Sofia also revealed that the afterparty would be "somewhat like a nightclub."</p><p>"Very dark, fun music, strobe lights," she said. "I will be eating pizzas and fries in this dress. Pray for this dress."</p><h2>Dress No. 3 — the wedding</h2><p>Last, but certainly not least, Sofia showed off the main attraction — her main wedding dress, which was based on a silhouette from a fall/winter 2022/23 Chanel look. <ul class="summary-list"><li>Checkerboard print has been everywhere since 2021, from clothing to home decor.</li><li>But now, the design is heading toward cringey, overdone territory, according to fashion fans.</li></ul><p>If checkerboard is a staple print in your wardrobe, I have bad news for you: It's probably going to look cringey soon.</p><p>Remember when <a href="https://www.insider.com/spring-fashion-trends-2019-4#embrace-the-cow-print-vibes-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">everyone loved cow print</a> in 2019, and then again for a minute in <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/sboyd/2021/01/30/cow-print-is-the-coolest-animal-print-trend-yet/?sh=1a1e0e377f7b" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">2021</a>? The design was a huge fad for short bursts of time, but is now scarcely seen in fashion.</p><p>And then there are prints like chevron, which was everywhere in the late 2010s but is now considered "<a href="https://www.insider.com/what-does-cheugy-mean-explained-rae-dunn-barstool-hype-house-2021-5">cheugy</a>" or basic by younger generations.</p><p>Now, fashion fans and experts say, checkerboard is going the way of the chevron. While checkerboard "has been around forever," she said, it's bobbed in and out of style over the past century.</p><p>According to a 2022 <a href="https://www.homesandgardens.com/news/checkerboard-floor-trend" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Homes &amp; Gardens</a> article, checkerboard floors are thought to have originated in <a href="https://www.artic.edu/artworks/67873/fragment-of-a-checkerboard-patterned-inlay">ancient Egypt</a> and were a fixture in Roman and Victorian homes long before they hit their interior-design peak in 1950s diners and kitchens.</p><p>In the fashion world, celebrities like Twiggy, Sonny, and Cher loved checkerboard dresses and suits in the '60s. "I don't think I'll ever be able to look at a checkerboard rug again," she said.</p><p>How does a print go from looking cool to making people recoil?</p><p>"Sometimes trends just become too big," Landon said. "Our eyes, ears, and senses get fatigued of seeing the same thing over and over."</p><p>Humans crave newness, something Landon says can move a trend into cringey territory once its been overdone. "It's really an emotional response, like: 'Oh my gosh, I've just seen that <em>so</em> many times,'" she added.</p><p>That's why she sees checkerboard becoming the new chevron — something Landon's sister Sierra Campbell made <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@siececampbell/video/7283181740980899118?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7289141024454592043" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a popular TikTok video</a> about. "It unravels super easily. You have to kind of sew all the edges before you start working with it so it adds double to the sewing time."</p><p>Another difficult aspect, which she documented in several TikToks, was <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kianabonollo/video/7233449007656242475" target="_blank" rel="noopener">getting the corset right</a>. Bonollo said her issue stemmed from the fact that she'd just bought a new dress-form mannequin, which had different proportions to her last one.</p><p>"It was hard to get it to fit," she said. At times the torso of the corset appeared too short but then she overcorrected it and it looked way too long. </p><p>After some trial and error, however, Bonollo was able to recreate the structural corset of the Chanel dress to her size with all of the different boning channels and seams.</p><div type="image" title="Kiana Bonollo said she spent roughly $200 on the materials for the dress." height="6000" width="4000" msid="100501347" hostid="261"></div><p>What's more, Bonollo managed to finish the entire look in just seven working days – a fraction of what she estimates it took the Chanel team to create the original in the 1990s. </p><p>"I'm assuming it took them weeks or months to make, at least weeks, probably months," she said. "I know usually it's a team of people working on big dresses like this."</p><p>And while the content creator said she doesn't have any big galas to wear the dress out to coming up, Bonollo does think she'll get some use of it one way or the other, such as potentially repurposing part of the skirt for her own wedding. Bonollo said she's planning to make her own wedding dress for the nuptials, taking place in 2024.</p><p>"The chances of me being able to dress out in Raleigh, North Carolina, are slim to none," she said, jokingly. "But at least for this, I can definitely split it up between a corset top and a skirt."</p>

As a result, there's never been more demand for highly qualified household staff. As the cofounder and director of Pembury Partners Household Consultancy (Pembury), I'm the person some of the world's wealthiest have on speed dial when they're looking to hire executive staff for their private residence - or residences.</p><p>I wasn't looking to start my own business. For the last few years, I've been at a senior level within the private household recruiting sector. When the pandemic first hit, my team and I were put on furlough, and that became the catalyst I needed. I gave Evie Dakin, a colleague and good friend of mine, a call and told her we should go it alone. It was hard to take that first step, but we haven't looked back since.</p><p>Pembury officially became operational in June 2020. Our offices are in London's Mayfair neighborhood, although I've been working at home for the better part of the year. For the first six months it was just Evie and I doing everything from business development to accounts and marketing. At the end of last year we made our first hires, a project manager and expert in childcare recruitment. </p><h2><strong>Currently, we're working with about 100 UHWNI clients, many of whom are celebrities and athletes.</strong></h2><p>Dealing with the 1% everyday is super intense, especially because all of my clients want to have hired someone yesterday. But that's nothing different to recruiting for the luxury hotel space, where I've also worked before. The UHNWIs (ultra-high-net-worth individuals) of the world want their home to be run like a six-star hotel, too.</p><p>At any one time, we could be looking to fill any range of roles in a number of locations. For example, we're currently recruiting for a property and assets manager in Azerbaijan, a chief of staff in London, and a palace manager in Qatar. </p><p>For many people, the past 12 months have been tough for business but for us it's been nothing short of a boon. We've really pushed through COVID and are growing all the time. </p><h2><strong>We staff for all types of specialty positions, such as performance chefs for professional footballers. </strong></h2><p>By performance chefs, I mean people that cook the right meals for sportsmen and women, chefs that have formal education in nutritional science and who know what are the key ingredients for optimal athletic performance. It's definitely a growing trend that we're also seeing cross over into the <keyword id="1654120" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="UHNWI">UHNWI</keyword> space - healthy living is the phrase on everyone's lips right now.</p><p>It's quite a niche market, but once one professional athlete hires a chef, they all want a chef. It's something we've never done before but it's been hugely successful so far.</p><p>We don't employ staff on behalf of our clients, we're just an introducer and charge our clients a percentage of the candidate's first year salary as a fee. Right now, that's 25%.</p><p>In terms of salary range, nannies can expect to earn between $55,000 to $140,000 depending on experience, chefs between $70,000 and $350,000, and chief of staffs from $100,000 to $425,000.</p><p>Although some candidates register with us in response to vacancies listed on our website or on social media platforms like Linkedin, we mostly head hunt. While travel restrictions and local quarantines have been obstacles to navigate, Evie and I have the right knowledge and know the right tools to be able to track down the right pool of candidates anywhere in the world.</p><h2><strong>Most people we hire must have prior experience in private households, or on superyachts or in luxury chalets.</strong></h2><p>A stable CV is essential, as is five years of excellent references and a clean criminal record. The vetting process is extensive and to the highest standards. Once we put a candidate forward, they then connect with the principal client or their representative for a face-to-face or video interview.</p><p>After filling a vacancy, we don't follow up with performance reviews, but I did place a chef in a training camp for a World Champion Boxer who retained his title with one of his best performances, so I like to think that had something to do with it. Feedback is always welcome, although unusual. </p><p>This week I had a chef on trial with a British billionaire and the female principal client texted me after the meal to say she loved them. That was nice. Because we reference check every candidate we put forward, and they trial with the client, it's rare that anyone is ever unhappy once a placement has been made.</p><h2><strong>We may get a call at 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon asking for someone by Monday morning. </strong></h2><p>Evie and I don't work fixed hours, as is usual in the UHNWI space. If I'm working for clients on the west coast of the US, I'll adjust my hours to be on their time for as long as required.</p><p>There is one rule I abide by as much as possible, however, and that is to not work on a Saturday. I'm Jewish and practicing so I keep from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday as my protected family time. For the other six days, there's no holds barred, and I'll pick up my phone 24/7.</p><p>It may sound draining but my job does allow me to work from anywhere in the world and be with my family. In August we will visit Israel for the month. I'll work early before my children wake up, and then we can spend the morning together, probably at the beach. I'll work for a couple of hours when it's really hot in the afternoon and then we can go out at night. At home back in London, I usually break up the day with time on my Peloton.</p><h2><strong>I deal with household names daily, so the expectations are high (and some egos are extremely big).</strong></h2><p>It's fascinating working with UHNWI and celebrity names, but in the end it becomes normal and it's not really something I talk too much about with my social circle. Of course, NDA's prohibit me from sharing too much detail, but, in any case, many of my friends wouldn't understand the world I live in and the inner lifestyle of UHNWIs.</p><div type="image" title="Darren Lewis" height="934" width="1242" msid="82771120" hostid="261"></div><p>My wife and I recently celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary during Britain's COVID-19 lockdown. Since we couldn't go out to mark the occasion, I asked one of the best private chefs around to come and cook our anniversary meal. Vegan cuisine is his speciality, and he's previously worked for Claudia Schiffer and Stella McCartney. </p><p>Later this month it's my birthday and weather permitting, I'm hosting six friends in my garden and will have a private chef come and cater our meal.
