He is scheduled to pitch Friday against the Orioles,</p><p>In the bottom of the third inning, the Nationals were in a bit of trouble. With Mets slugger Pete Alonso at the plate with the bases loaded in a tie game, Nationals pitcher Austin Voth threw a fastball low on a 2-2 count that barely scraped the bottom of the strike zone. It was as close a call as there is in baseball, and home plate umpire Carlos Torres called the pitch a ball, leaving Alonso with a full count.</p><p>The Nationals were clearly upset with the call. Bryce Harper hit an incredible 406-foot home run with a broken bat

That all changed on Wednesday night, when the 28-year-old Californian suited up and took the field as the Mets' starting third baseman.<p>D'Arnaud was set to be the starting catcher in the third game of the Mets' Subway Series against the New York Yankees, but after infielders Jose Reyes and Wilmer Flores were scratched from the lineup at the last minute with rib injuries, manager Terry Collins was forced to adjust on the fly. Working with a skeleton crew&#xa0;on his bench, Collins penciled backup catcher Rene Rivera into the 2-spot and sent d'Arnaud out&#xa0;to the hot corner for a baptism by fire.</p><p>The game got off to an uneventful start -- Jacoby Ellsbury singled to give the Yankees a leadoff baserunner - but the chaos in the infield was only just beginning. D'Arnaud was playing&#xa0;third base when Ellsbury, a left-hander, came to bat, but when the right-handed Aaron Judge stepped into the box later on in the first inning, he moved over to second base, switching places with veteran infielder Asdrubal Cabrera. The idea was to mask d'Arnaud's lack of experience by stationing him on the opposite&#xa0;side of every hitter who came to bat.</p><p>Collins continued this approach for the entirety of the game, sending d'Arnaud to third base against lefties and back to second base against righties. By the end of the night, he had created one of the most ludicrous box scores in the history of baseball:</p><p>Despite Collins' meticulous adjustments, the Mets couldn't pull out the victory, losing 5-3 thanks to a go-ahead double from Didi Gregorius in the seventh inning. But for what it's worth, the plan to hide d'Arnaud, who used a glove belonging to injured team captain David Wright, went almost perfectly - he had just one chance in the entire game, successfully recording a putout.</p><p>"I was fired up ... I wanted to make a diving play down the line or rob someone of a base hit like people do to me," he&#xa0;<a href="https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/898015459466981376" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said</a> after the game. "I was looking forward to it."</p><p>D'Arnaud didn't get an opportunity to do any of that, but considering the circumstances, it was a successful experiment, especially when catchers are almost always&#xa0;dead weight when they play out of position. The Royals are a team that's aggressive on the base path. They stole the second most bases in the AL this year and they've thrived by running aggressively during the post-season.</p><p class="embed-spacer">So to have an extra body that can run - no,&#xa0;<em>fly&#xa0;</em>- is a big advantage. People upset about Beyonce's Super Bowl show are organizing a protest at NFL headquarters

However, for nearly a year, the team may have been spotted using a slightly modified version of the logo with what appears to be a curious shoutout to a corporate partner.</p>
<p>The Mets logo, via SportsLogos.net, includes the Mets wordmark overlaying a silhouette of the New York skyline, including the Williamsburg Savings Bank (second from left), the Woolworth Building (third from left), the Empire State Building (middle), and the United Nations Building (far right).</p>

<p>Uni-Watch.com and SportsLogos.net both noticed that the Mets were apparently using a slightly altered version of their logo in recent days on social media.</p>
<p>According to the sites, the UN Building on the far right had been replaced by 601 Lexington Avenue, better known as the Citicorp Building.</p>

<p>Even though the building is no longer owned by Citi, the name has stuck with many.</p>
<p>Citi Group is also one of the Mets' biggest corporate sponsors. In 2009, they reached a deal to pay the Mets <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/04/13/mets.ballpark/">$400 million for the naming rights to CitiField for 20 years</a>.</p>

<p>The altered logo was being used as the primary photo on both the Mets' Twitter account and the team's Facebook page, according to Paul Lukas of Uni-Watch.com. However, once some fans noticed the change, the new logo was apparently removed.</p>
<p>The logo has been around for a while and was first spotted on the <a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3867/15253177682_9edbd56f75_o.png">team's Facebook page back in 2013</a>.</p>
<p>It is unclear if the team has plans to change the logo or whether the team will continue to use it in social media circles.</p>
<p>When Business Insider asked the Mets about the new logo, they would only say that their "current and primary logo has not changed."</p>

The Mets Have Been Using A New Logo With An Interesting Corporate Twist

There is just one problem: Steve Greenberg doesn't want the job.</p>
<p>And yet, Greenberg has the perfect resume.</p>
<p>Greenberg is the son of Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg. He went to Yale. He played professional baseball for five seasons. He is a lawyer. He was an agent. He was the deputy commissioner under Fay Vincent in the early 1990s. He started two networks (Classic Sports Network, which later became ESPN Classic, and College Sports TV) that went on to be <a href="http://money.cnn.com/2010/05/10/news/companies/greenberg_sports_deal_king.fortune/index.htm">sold for a $500 million</a>. He helped launch the MLB Network. He has helped broker the sale of franchises and even helped the Mets secure their $400 million deal for the naming rights to CitiField.</p>
<p>He's perfect.</p>
<p>But when Selig recently asked Greenberg if he wanted to be commissioner, he turned the job down <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/07/17/steve-greenberg-son-of-hank-greenberg-perfect-fit-for-mlb-commissioner/12800971/">according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today</a>. When other owners got together and asked him again two weeks ago, he again said no.</p>
<p>The problem appears to be that Greenberg already has experience in the commissioner's office and knows how hard the job can be.</p>
<p>"Early on, I told Bud I was not going to be a candidate," Greenberg told USA TODAY during an interview. "I know what's involved. It's a 24/7, 365-day schedule that the commissioner has to keep to do it right. The three years I spent in the commissioner's office was exhausting."</p>
<p>Selig and MLB's search committee do have other candidates and former commissioner Vincent told USA Today that he believes Rob Manfred, MLB's chief operating officer, will eventually get the job.</p>
<p>Selig has one major decision left and it could end up being more important than expanded playoffs, steroid testing, the All-Star game, or instant replay and he has six months to change Greenberg's mind. To the chagrin of many, it doesn't look like it will happen.</p>
