Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 7 (): In the highest single day spike in COVID-19 cases in the State, Kerala on Tuesday reported 272 fresh infections, taking the infection tally to 5894, while over 1.86 lakh people are under observation.Of the new cases, 157 came from abroad and 38 were from other states, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters. Sixty-eight people were infected through contact, the highest so far, and the source of 15 of the cases was yet to be known. Raipur, Jul 4 () The number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh increased to 3,133 after 68 people, including three CISF personnel, tested positive on Saturday, said an official. As many as 112 patients were discharged during the day, he added. Of the new cases, 27 were from Raipur, nine from Bemetara, eight from Narayanpur, seven from Janjgir-Champa, five from Bilaspur, three each from Raigarh and Dantewada and two each from Surguja, Koriya and Bastar districts, he said. 3 CISF personnel among 68 new COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh

Noida (UP), May 21 () A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) camp and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp besides some high rises, posh sectors and villages are among the 63 containment zones identified in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar, officials said on Thursday. The district adjoining Delhi in western UP has recorded 293 positive cases of coronavirus, including five deaths till Wednesday, they said. Amid the fourth phase of lockdown, the district administration has identified 63 containment zones across Noida and Greater Noida where movement will be restricted in a bid to break the transmission chain of COVID-19. There are 37 Category-I containment zones, which have one positive case, while 26 zones in Category-II have recorded more than one case, the district administration said. Category I containment zones are those where only a radius of 250 metres, or the entire mohalla, has been designated as a containment zone. Category-II zones have a radius of 500 metres along with a buffer of 250 metres. Containment zones will have restricted in and out movement except for emergency cases and essential services. Only healthcare personnel, sanitation workers and door-step delivery services are allowed in such areas, it said in an order. Also, contact tracing and door to door surveillance will be ensured in these areas, besides intervention of medical experts, if needed, it added. "Complete details will be maintained of people coming in or going out of containment zones," the administration said, warning of legal action against rule violators under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, and Indian Penal Code section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a government official). Kannur,Jul 1 () Fifty two CISF jawans at a nearby camp have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past two weeks, following which a health officer has been tasked with surveillance, contact tracing and further quarantine measures. The health department has also issued a Standard Operating Procedure to the commandant of the camp at ValiyaVelicham, which houses over 200 CISF personnel, to strengthen quarantine protocol. The District Medical Officer said the SOP was issued after 52 of the 98 samples taken till Tuesday tested positive. "A deputy District Medical Officer (DMO) has been entrusted with the surveillance and contact tracing and further quarantine procedures," he told . He said most of the personnel were from other states, including Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. "We suspect most of the jawans contracted the disease as they travelled from their home towns. Nine of the cases were through contacts. We will collect more samples," the DMO said. The decision to ensure strict quarantine and follow other health protocols at the camp was taken at an online meeting chaired by the District Collector, in which the CISF Commandant, Kannur Airport Managing Director and top health officials participated. Health officials said the functioning of the airport would not be affected in the current situation. The CISF Director General had on Tuesday said that a senior official of the Force would be in charge of the Kannur camp for the welfare of the soldiers. 52 CISF jawans test positive for COVID-19 over past 2 weeks

New Delhi, Jun 21 () A 41-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel died of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total number of fatalities in the force from the pandemic to six, officials said. This is the 18th death from the pandemic among the five central paramilitary forces of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Officials said constable Jitender Kumar died at the RML Hospital here after he was admitted with fever and difficulty in breathing on June 10. The jawan had contracted the coronavirus infection and was deployed for law and order duties in Delhi, a senior CISF officer said. He hailed from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh and was posted with the 8th reserve battalion of the force in Jaipur, he said. "The Director General CISF and all ranks are deeply saddened on the tragic loss of our corona warrior constable Jitender Kumar of CISF who laid his life at the altar of duty battling COVID-19 infection. "We express heartfelt condolences to the grief stricken family members," the force said in a message. This is the sixth death from coronavirus in the about 1.62 lakh personnel strong force, the national civil aviation security force guarding over 60 airports apart from other vital infrastructure. Twenty-four fresh cases were reported in the CISF since Saturday, which has a total 255 active COVID-19 cases while 347 personnel have recovered till now. The maximum cases in the force have been reported from a unit that guard the Madras High Court (39), Delhi airport (28), Ghaziabad-based reserve battalion (25), Mumbai airport and Delhi Metro (17 each), Kolkata Port Trust (16) and Reliance Corporate Park, Navi Mumbai (7) among others. The CRPF has suffered six casualties, BSF three, SSB two and one death has taken place in the ITBP till now. Kolkata, May 8 () The Indian Museum in Kolkata was sealed on Friday after a CISF officer posted there succumbed to COVID-19, an official said.Thirty-three CISF personnel deployed at the gallery's security unit have been asked to self-quarantine, Indian Museum director A D Choudhury told .The museum is closed since March 14."... Kolkata, May 29 () Thirty-eight out of 41 COVID-19 patients detected among CISF personnel posted at Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, have been discharged, while two of them died due to the contagion, GRSE sources said on Friday. Only one CISF personnel is under treatment at present, they said. The entire CISF barracks in the GRSE main unit, where all the infected personnel were staying before they were diagnosed, has been sanitised, the sources said. All the personnel who have been found COVID-19 negative and those discharged from hospital have been quarantined within the barracks in separate locations. Head constable Sushanta Kumar Ghosh (58), who had tested positive and was hospitalised on May 12, died on May 28, the sources said. "He was suffering from chronic kidney disease and under haemo dialysis for the last two years," one GRSE source said.
