'Celebrity Big Brother' reveals its cast for the new season &mdash; with 2 'Real Housewives,' a Kardashian ex, and an Olympic athlete among the new houseguests

The fivesome then performed together for the first time since 2013, running through their popular tracks "Gone," "Girlfriend, "Bye Bye Bye," and "It's Gonna Be Me." </p>  <p>The band also performed "Paradise," a new NSYNC song that will appear on Timberlake's upcoming album, "Everything I Thought it Was."</p>  <p>While many NSYNC fans might see this as a sign of the band's intention to reunite, it may not be that simple. </p><p>In September 2023, when the five band members appeared onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards to present the award for best pop video to<a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/taylor-swift-fangirls-over-nsync-reunion-2023-mtv-vma-2023-9"> Taylor Swift</a>, fans also took this as a sign that the band might be planning a reunion tour.</p><p>Even Swift had questions when she collected her award, asking the group: "Like, are you doing something? What's going to happen now? They're going to do something and I need to know what it is."</p><p>Two days later, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/joey-fatone-justin-timberlake-leaving-nsync-reunion-2023-10">NSYNC</a> announced via a video post on their Instagram account that they would release their first single in 21 years. But the song, "Better Place," was just part of the soundtrack to a new animated movie, "Trolls Band Together," in which Timberlake stars.</p><p>"Better Place" started at No.25 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of its release in September 2023 before sinking down and disappearing after six weeks.</p><p>NSYNC also appeared on the YouTube interview series "Hot Ones" to promote the new track, but no reunion announcement arrived after the movie.</p><p>Plus, Timberlake's concert was organized to promote his upcoming album, which will be released on Friday, so the reunion could have been a tactic to promote it.</p><p>The last time the complete NSYNC band performed together was during Timberlake's 12-song medley at the 2013 VMAs after he received the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mtv-vmas-michael-jackson-video-vanguard-award-winners">Video Vanguard Award.</a></p><p>But the group performed without Timberlake in 2019 when they joined <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/ariana-grande-performed-with-nsync-at-coachella-2019-4">Ariana Grande</a> for a surprise appearance during her Coachella set.</p><p>As of yet, there has been no announcement about a reunion tour, but at least NSYNC fans will now have two new songs.</p><p>NSYNC's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.</p>

Entertainment</a>, Fatone reflected on the group's new single "Better Place," which is part of the soundtrack for the Timberlake-starring movie "Trolls Band Together." Fatone said that it "fit right" to do the song as a group after Timberlake approached his bandmates about the idea.</p><p>Still, he said that he was taken aback when <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/justin-timberlake-life-career-timeline-2019-1">Timberlake left the group in the first place in 2002</a>.</p><p>"I was not blindsided by the <em>breakup</em>; I was more blindsided as far as him coming out with music and not knowing that he was going to go and do an actual album/tour thing," Fatone told Yahoo! Entertainment. "It was more of, 'Hey, I'm going to do some music, and then we'll get back together.' That's what that was."</p><p>Fatone said that he and his fellow NSYNC bandmates – Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Lance Bass — initially thought that Timberlake was going to return to the group after the tour for his 2002 album "Justified." Timberlake told the <a target="_blank" href="https://nypost.com/2002/11/01/justin-time-solo-disc-a-break-not-a-breakup-from-nsync/">New York Post</a> in 2002 after the release of his album that the band wasn't breaking up, and would eventually release another record.</p><p>NSYNC, however, didn't reunite to release new music following Timberlake's solo debut until the 2023 "Trolls" single, though they <a target="_blank" href="https://www.insider.com/taylor-swift-fangirls-over-nsync-reunion-2023-mtv-vma-2023-9">briefly appeared together at the 2023 MTV VMAs.</a> The group's last full album was 2001's "Celebrity," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, <a target="_blank" href="https://ew.com/music/joey-fatone-justin-timberlake-blindsided-left-nsync/?utm_campaign=entertainmentweekly_entertainmentweekly&amp;utm_content=new&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_term=651f72a17810a500012b31ca">per Entertainment Weekly</a>, and included the single "Pop."</p><p>After Timberlake's departure, Fatone said that he eventually moved on to other projects on Broadway, television, and the food space. Make some noise for NSYNC," emcee Nicki Minaj said as she introduced the men onstage, according to a clip of the broadcast that was uploaded on <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@aquickspoonful/video/7278111940096904491?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7275928597960525314">TikTok</a>.</p><p>Cheers erupted from across the venue, and as the camera panned through the audience to capture their reactions — there Swift was, in all her disbelief, having an absolute fangirl moment.</p> <p>After the welcome, the group started to present the first award of the night. </p><p>"Over 20 years ago, we were just kids when we won Best Pop Video for 'Bye Bye Bye,'" Chasez said, per the video. The former boy band member took the stage with Fantasia and D'witshes, grabbed a mic, started singing, and broke out the song's now-iconic choreography. </p><p>"WHAT A WEEKEND ITS BEEN ALREADY!!" the Palace wrote in the caption of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CnKBefWB6bC/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an Instagram video</a> capturing the action. "We had the honor of being visited by *NSYNC's own Joey Fatone, who joined us and sang one of their biggest hits with our queens for our visitors. The two women were among the group of eleven celebrities who moved into <a href="https://www.insider.com/big-brother-season-23-winner-players-the-cookout-interview-2021-9">the "Big Brother" house</a> this season to play the game of strategy and psychology and outsmart each other to win the $250,000 grand prize.</p><p>The person who wins each week's "Head of Household" competition becomes the head of household, or HOH, and holds the power to nominate two other contestants for eviction from the house. Mellencamp said some of her castmates used this tactic, perhaps because they admire Tate's career outside of the house.</p><p>"Chris Kirkpatrick, I think, would die for her," Mellencamp told Insider on Saturday of the former NSYNC member's loyalty to Tate.</p><p>The HOH naturally has a lot of power over the house while they hold the title, given that they partially control the fate of people in the game. But some HOHs demand respect for their title more than others, and Mellencamp said Tate was one who "didn't take that job lightly." </p><p>"We're like at her beck and call," said Mellencamp, adding that she was shocked by the athlete's attitude. "He wasn't getting me with that one."</p><h2>Some of Hall's castmates told Insider they hope he grows from his experience on 'Celebrity Big Brother'</h2><div type="image" title="Miesha Tate, Julie Chen Moonves, Todrick Hall" height="602" width="802" msid="89954701" hostid="261"></div><p>Many fans online pointed out how Hall took gameplay manipulation to extreme levels and launched unnecessary personal attacks on others. <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/BigBrother/comments/syvc6e/todrick_clarification/">A Reddit user</a> alleged that Hall's apparent "slut shaming" of houseguest <keyword id="13045636" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="shanna-moakler" source="Orion">Shanna Moakler</keyword>, captured on live-feed footage but not aired on the show's broadcast episodes, after she exited the show was one example of bad behavior that had nothing to do with winning the game.</p><p>Redditors also noted that Hall said the phrase "don't be too hard on me" to Moakler as she was leaving the house, which was shown on the February 14 episode when Moakler was evicted. In an earlier moment captured on the show's live feeds but not aired on any broadcast episode, Moakler had previously told houseguests, including Hall, that "don't be too hard on me" was what a home intruder said to her during an event "she described as the most traumatic moment of her life," the Reddit user wrote.</p><p>Moakler hasn't directly commented on these allegations, but told <a href="https://toofab.com/2022/02/16/shanna-moakler-todrick-hall-celebrity-big-brother/">TooFab in an interview published February 16</a> following her eviction that she felt Hall "clapping and cheering" on her way out the door "was in poor taste" and agreed with fellow houseguest Chris Kirkpatrick's earlier comments to TooFab that Hall sometimes made things "too personal" in the game.</p><p>"I didn't really respect the gameplay or the style or making things personal," <a href="https://toofab.com/2022/02/16/shanna-moakler-todrick-hall-celebrity-big-brother/">Moakler told TooFab in February</a>. "I wanted to keep it about 'Big Brother,' I wanted to keep it about what we were doing."</p><p>According to fan-captured footage from the live feeds, Hall was also seen accusing fellow houseguests of saying homophobic words that many live-feed watchers never heard them say. </p><p>"I think Todrick is going through <a href="https://www.insider.com/celebrity-big-brother-lamar-odom-confessional-quotes-khloe-kardashian-2022-2">a process of growing up</a> and what happens is that he's growing up in front of the world," said Odom of Hall's behavior in the house. "So everyone's going to see his mistakes or downfalls." </p><p>Bridges said he didn't think Hall's self-confidence was as strong as he portrayed it to be. "The stuff he said was just unnecessary, but I take that away from him maybe being insecure."</p><h2>Not all of Hall's former castmates feel as negatively about their experiences with Hall, and several told Insider they wish him well</h2><div type="image" title="Todrick Hall" height="675" width="900" msid="89954702" hostid="261"></div><p>After "Real Housewives" star Cynthia Bailey's closest ally, Carson Kressley, was voted out of the "Celebrity Big Brother" house, Hall protected her, resulting in Bailey making it to the final three. </p><p>During her finale night interview with Insider on Wednesday, Bailey said she was "grateful" that Hall took her "under his wing" at the time. </p><p>When asked about Bridges and Odom's earlier comments to Insider about Hall and his gameplay, Bailey said that she can "understand" why Bridges and Odom think Hall talked about race with them too much, but added that her "experience with him in the house was good."</p><p>Kressley, who won the fan-voted America's Favorite Player award on finale night, told Insider on Wednesday that Hall played the game "recklessly," but he hopes his friend learns from it. However, it's not often those roles get used.<br /> <br />"I usually get notices that so-and-so needs a part created," said Levin. "I'll say, 'We have a bunch of parts written already,' and I'm told, 'We have to create something special.'"<br /> <br />In some cases he'll get word that they need a role written for a cameo a few days ahead of the celebrity's shoot date. With the day's shoot at a secluded location, Levin had no computer or writing area to do his magic, so he had to get creative.<br /> <br />"The sun was going down and we had a lot more shots to get, we needed to get it done," Levin recalls.
