Eyewear retailer <keyword id="1518229" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lenskart">Lenskart</keyword> on Monday announced it has raised $220 million in fresh funding led by Temasek and <keyword id="4675626" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Falcon-Edge-Capital">Falcon Edge Capital</keyword>, taking its valuation to nearly $2.5 billion. The company recently raised $95 million from <keyword id="2527060" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Global-Investment-Fund">global investment fund</keyword> <keyword id="6354544" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="kkr">KKR</keyword>, taking the total transaction size to $315 million to date. The current round also saw participation from Bay Capital and <keyword id="6947922" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="chiratae">Chiratae</keyword>, the company said in a statement. "We're already the largest eyewear player in India and in the top 3 in Singapore. Lenskart envisions to have 50 per cent of India wearing its specs over the next five years and become the #1 eyewear platform in Southeast Asia and Middle East over the next 18 to 24 months through organic and inorganic expansion," Founder and CEO Peyush Bansal said. The company said that fresh funds will help it expand its presence in India as well as scaling its growing operations in Southeast Asia and Middle East. The market opportunity for Lenskart in target geographies is expected to be over $15 billion by 2025. Lenskart raises $220 million to launch in Middle East, Southeast Asia

Leading AI health and <keyword id="2014575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="fitness-app">fitness app</keyword> <keyword id="2698623" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="HealthifyMe">HealthifyMe</keyword> on Tuesday announced it has raised $75 million (nearly Rs 560 crore) in a Series C round led by <keyword id="1175549" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="leapfrog">LeapFrog</keyword> and <keyword id="130474" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Khosla-Ventures">Khosla Ventures</keyword>. The company, which has raised over the total capital raised by HealthifyMe to over $100 million till now, said in a statement that it will use the funds to expand in India and Southeast Asia, make inroads into North America as well as to acquire relevant companies in the digital health and fitness space. It will also be investing heavily behind its AI powered HealthifySmart Plans and intends to double its current engineering and design strength. It will furthermore be hiring senior leadership members across operations, marketing, HR and technology. "We are already the market leaders in India and Southeast Asia and by combining AI and human empathy, we can deliver results in weight and lifestyle disease management at a fraction of the cost possible today," said <keyword id="2840907" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tushar-Vashisht">Tushar Vashisht</keyword>, Co-founder and CEO, HealthifyMe. HealthifyMe said it has doubled its user base and revenue in the last one year during the pandemic. It crossed 25 million downloads recently and is on track to hit $50 million ARR (annual recurring revenue) within the next six months, potentially becoming the largest health and fitness app outside the US and China. While HealthifyMe's base has been India, it has been expanding internationally and now nearly 25 per cent of its revenues come from outside the country like Malaysia and Singapore. "What they have achieved in India with their AI coaching solution at scale is truly pioneering for the world. We are excited about the potential as they scale globally -- specifically in North America, where 2 out 3 adults are overweight or obese," said Vinod Khosla, Founding Partner at Khosla Ventures. HealthifyMe raises $75 million from US-based investors to make inroads into North America

The company, which claims to have grown by 400% in 2019, had to halt its Series C round, initially intended to be closed by April 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company said that from zero revenue during the months of strict lockdown, MyGlamm now records revenues 200% of pre-Covid levels and also claims to have achieved EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) profitability in December 2020. Amazon, Wipro Consumer and Ascent Capital invest in beauty brand MyGlamm

New Delhi, Dec 30 () Start-up technology-enabled car service provider GoMechanic on Monday said it has raised Rs 105 crore in Series B funding in a round led by Chiratae Ventures and Sequoia Capital.
 Orios Venture Partners was the other investor which participated in the 3rd round of institutional funding, GoMechanic said in a statement.
 The investment will be used to support expansion into 10 more cities by the end of 2020 in its EV thrust, brand promotion and in streamlining spare parts procurement, it added.
 Commenting on the fund raised, GoMechanic Co-Founder Kushal Karwa said, "The money raised will allow us to continue our aggressive geographical expansion besides investment in innovation to keep us ahead of the curve."
 GoMechanic Co-Founder Amit Bhasin said the current fundraise will reinvigorate the company's thrust in providing scalable technology first solutions for the USD 11 billion unorganised automotive repairs and maintenance market.
 Chiratae Ventures Executive-Director Ranjith Menon said, "India is among the largest car manufacturers in the world where bulk of the cars on the road are out of warranty. We are excited to work with the GoMechanic team addressing this huge gap in a technology first manner."
 Commenting on the company's investment in GoMechanic, Sequoia Capital India LLP Vice President Abhishek Mohan said, "In the 12 months since Sequoia India led the Series A, the company has scaled many times on the back of its asset light network of workshops and most importantly built true customer love. Given the massive market potential of USD 5 billion plus, we are excited to see what comes next."
 Earlier this year, GoMechanic had raised Rs 35 crore in a series-A round led by Sequoia Capital and Orios Venture Partners. In 2017, it had raised close to Rs 7 crore from Orios Venture Partners and Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal.

The latest funding would take Lenskart’s valuation up to $1 billion. In May, it opened its 500th store in the country. However, it hasn’t had a smooth ride. Lenskart had rapidly expanded with multiple stores. However, these huge investments didn’t pay off, leaving it with mounting losses. In 2015-16, Lenskart’s losses were at ₹113 crore. The very next year, they doubled to be ₹262.87 crore. After this, the company took an active step to turn things around. Lenskart turned its focus to Tier 2 and 3 cities. As a result, its revenues jumped by 70% to ₹118.04 crore in 2018, while cutting its losses by 55% losses. It’s own brand – John Jacobs – which seems to have done well for the company will touch ₹500 crore in revenue by 2021, say <a href="https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/companies/john-jacobs-to-clock-500-cr-revenue-by-march-2021/article25985375.ece">reports.</a> In February 2019, Lenskart announced YouTuber Bhuvan Bam as its brand ambassador along with Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif.
