In a seemingly bizarre incident, nearly 150 cartons of chocolate bars of a popular brand have been stolen from a godown by unidentified miscreants in the <keyword id="636974" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chinhat" source="Orion">Chinhat</keyword> area in Lucknow. The godown belongs to businessman Rajendra Singh <keyword id="205032" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="siddhu" source="Orion">Siddhu</keyword>, who is a distributor of a multinational chocolate brand in the city. Siddhu told police that at least 150 cartons having <keyword id="25282" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chocolates" source="Orion">chocolates</keyword> worth Rs 17 lakh were stolen along with some boxes of biscuits. In his FIR lodged with the police, <keyword id="6368691" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sidhu" source="Orion">Sidhu</keyword> said that he recently shifted from his old house in Chinhat to an apartment in Vibhuti Khand in <keyword id="310205" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="gomti-nagar" source="Orion">Gomti Nagar</keyword>. He said that he was using the old house as a godown for storing chocolates meant for distribution. On Tuesday, he got a call from a neighbour in Chinhat who informed him that the door of his house was lying broken. When he reached the house, he found that the entire godown was empty. The thieves had also taken away the digital video recorder of CCTVs. "Another neighbour informed me that he heard a pick-up truck in the night and thought that I had come to take away some stock. It seems this truck was used by the miscreants to ferry the stolen stock," Siddhu told police. He said that the stock had arrived a couple of days ago and was meant to be distributed to the retailers in the city. 150 cartons of chocolate worth ₹17 lakh stolen from a Lucknow godown

Lucknow: A 30-year-old delivery man was allegedly killed by two persons when he went to deliver an iPhone to one of them who was supposed to pay him Rs 1.5 lakh for the product, police said on Monday. They said his body was dumped into the Indira Canal here and a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been called to find it. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashank Singh said Gajanan, from Chinhat, had ordered the iPhone worth about Rs 1.5 lakh from <keyword id="19896939" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Flipkart" meta.hostid="153" meta.entityid="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> and opted for COD (<keyword id="20635241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Cash-on-Delivery" source="keywords">Cash on Delivery</keyword>) payment option. "On September 23, delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at his place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice. After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed it off in the Indira Canal," he said. When Sahu did not return home for two days, his family registered a missing persons complaint on September 25 at the Chinhat police station. While scanning Sahu's call details and trying to trace his location, police found Gajanan's number and managed to reach his friend Akash. During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime, the DCP fficer said. Police are yet to find the body. "The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is trying to find the body of the victim in the canal," the officer said.

The number of active <keyword id="8869954" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-cases" source="Orion">Covid cases</keyword> in Lucknow have crossed the 500-mark after a gap of nearly four months. In <keyword id="6357713" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="Orion">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> the number of cases has gone past the 2500-mark. At least 89 more persons have tested positive for the infection in the past 24 hours, while 62 patients recovered in the same period, taking the active cases to 505. According to the health department officials, fresh cases included four patients who were tested during a routine drive at a private hospital. Among other cases, most people had influenza-like-illness followed by those who came in contact with the people diagnosed earlier. Within the city, the highest number of cases were from Aliganj and Alambagh areas (15 cases each), followed by Old city (10), and Indiranagar, Chinhat and Sarojini Nagar (9 cases each). Other cases were registered from City station (7), Gosainganj (4) NK Road (3), Turiyaganj (3) among other areas. Among active cases, 18 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in the city, while the rest are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and are recovering in home isolation. District surveillance officer (DSO) Dr Milind Vardhan said that people should take <keyword id="8764262" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid" source="Orion">Covid</keyword> seriously because most of the patients who are getting diagnosed have mild influenza-like symptoms. "Although <keyword id="8763838" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-19" source="Orion">Covid-19</keyword> is not causing serious illness, if anyone has influenza-like symptoms, he/she should get tested and keep themselves isolated till results come," he added. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the active case tally of Covid crossed the 2,500-mark on Sunday with 491 new cases, but 273 persons also recovered from the infection in the same duration. More than half of the new and active cases (over 51 per cent) are concentrated in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Lucknow and Ghaziabad. Experts advised caution, but said that there was no need to panic as <keyword id="1609796" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="omicron" source="Orion">Omicron</keyword> was the operating virus.
