Total funding raised by <keyword id="17404081" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mom-and-baby-care-startups" source="Orion">mom and baby care startups</keyword> and companies was $418 million in 2022, a plunge of 80 per cent from $2.1 billion in 2021, a report has shown. <keyword id="17404082" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mom-Baby-Care-companies" source="Orion">Mom &amp; Baby Care companies</keyword> in the US have raised $5 billion till date, while those in China and India raised $2.8 billion and $1.4 billion, respectively, according to Tracxn, a leading global SaaS-based market intelligence platform. The drop in funding is majorly due to the absence of late-stage investments. Seed-stage funding in Q1 2023 fell 21 per cent as against Q1 2022 but jumped 444 per cent from Q4 2022. Early-stage investments in the first quarter of 2023 rose 158 per cent when compared with Q4 2022, but dropped 64 per cent from Q1 2022, the report noted. The sector attracted investments worth $21 million in Q1 2023, compared with $3.86 million in Q4 2022 and $26.5 million in Q1 2022. "The space is seeing minimal or no activity in terms of unicorns and IPOs. In 2022 and 2023 till date, no new unicorn companies were created in this space," the report mentioned. No IPOs have taken place in 2023 so far, while 2022 witnessed one company and 2021 witnessed two companies going public. In terms of funding, <keyword id="17404084" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gamified-learning-platforms" source="Orion">Gamified learning platforms</keyword> for Pre-K children is the top-funded business model in the last two years in this space, followed by Online Retailers and Breast Pumps. 500 Global, Techstars and New Enterprise Associates are the most active investors in this space till date. IPV, Angel List and Techstars are the top seed-stage investors and Innoven Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital are the top early-stage investors, while Sequoia Capital, General Atlantic and IPGL are the top late-stage investors in the last two years. The pandemic accelerated the growth of the Mom &amp; Baby Care space, giving rise to innovation in this segment. The rise in the working class population with a higher disposable income, is also a supporting factor for growth in this space, said the Tracxn report. <ul><li>The <keyword id="115417" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="New-York-Stock-Exchange">New York Stock Exchange</keyword> (NYSE) reversed its course and has decided to refrain from delisting <keyword id="154965" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China-Telecom">China Telecom</keyword>, <keyword id="133270" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China-Mobile">China Mobile</keyword>, and <keyword id="7727304" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="china-unicorn">China Unicorn</keyword>.</li><li>This goes against the Trump administration’s order for American companies to cease business relations with Chinese companies allegedly providing aid to the military, which will come into effect on January 11. </li><li>The shares of three of China’s biggest telecom companies have rallied on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKD) by more than 5%.</li></ul>The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the largest stock exchange in the world worth over $22 trillion, no longer plans to delist China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom. China refuted these allegations and claimed that the executive order was politically motivated. “In light of further consultation with relevant regulatory authorities in connection with the Office of Foreign Assets Control FAQ 857… NYSE announced today that NYSE Regulation no longer intends to move forward with the delisting action in relation to the three issuers… which was announced on December 31, 2020,” NYSE said in a <a href="https://ir.theice.com/press/news-details/2021/NYSE-Updates-Guidance-on-Delisting-Determination-for-Securities-of-Three-Issuers-in-Relation-to-Executive-Order-13959--/default.aspx">statement</a> on January 4. Three of China’s biggest telecom companies rally over 5% after NYSE decided not to delist them

The programme is aimed to help women founders address challenges that are unique to their experience, including fundraising, hiring and many others. The inaugural batch of Google for <keyword id="8826137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startups-Accelerator" source="Orion">Startups Accelerator</keyword> - India Women Founders programme will accept up to 20 women-founded/ co-founded startups in India, including startups at the minimum viable product stage, and support them through a three-month programme. The programme will place special focus on areas like access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorship and many others which, for a variety of social reasons and low representation, prove challenging for female founders. In addition to these, the curriculum will include workshops and support around AI/ML, Cloud, UX, android, web, product strategy and growth, as well as provide access to a global community of women founders. India is the world's third largest startup capital, trailing only the US and China. It boasts over a 100 unicorns with 22 getting added to the list just in 2022, spanning verticals such as e-commerce, healthtech, fintech and many others. However, only 15 per cent of these <keyword id="3357129" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-unicorns" source="Orion">Indian unicorns</keyword> have one or more women founders. "The new programme is part of a larger effort by Google towards improving the representation of women across different sections of India's digitally-trained workforce, be it entrepreneurship, professionals looking to upskill or young graduates seeking a head start on their career, with the ultimate objective of making technology universally relevant and helpful," the tech giant wrote in a blogpost. Google to launch accelerator programme for women entrepreneurs in India

<ul><li><keyword id="149865" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chinese-hackers">Chinese hackers</keyword> are increasingly targeting Indian <keyword id="4112095" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Unicorn-Startups">unicorn startups</keyword> like Swiggy, <keyword id="6357120" type="DEFINITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="paytm">Paytm</keyword>, Ola and Byju’s to steal sensitive information. </li><li>The motivation is no longer to cause harm to their reputation but to get away with as much user insight as possible without causing too much noise. </li><li>“They are hunting those companies because they have a lot of data,” Kumar Ritesh, the CEO of Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Cyfirma told Business Insider in an interview. </li></ul>Hackers usually follow the money but now they have now set their sights on a new pot of gold at the end of the rainbow — data. Singapore-based cybersecurity company Cyfirma has a new platform called DeCYFIR which can spot threats before an attack occurs by analysing conversations across the dark web and hacker forums. Traditionally, cybercriminals have honed in on telecom companies. Jio, in particular, is a crowd favourite. Right now, the names of <keyword id="982553" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-startups">Indian startups</keyword> have started popping up in these hidden corners of the world wide web. And, the frequency only seems to be increasing. Data hungry hackers Cyberattacks on Indian firms by state-sponsored Chinese hackers were primarily driven by the idea of causing damage to the company’s reputation. However, over the last three months, it’s no longer about creating noise. Instead, it’s about getting behind the defensive walls of companies in order to exfiltrate personal, sensitive, and financial information. “A lot of young companies that started five to ten years ago and have grown to become unicorns — who do a lot of customer services, who collect personal information and financial information, and are supplying you with food, education or other things — and they [cybercriminals] are hunting those companies because they have a lot of data,” Kumar Ritesh, the CEO of Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Cyfirma told Business Insider in an interview. Unicorn startups, in particular, are powerhouses of data and intellectual property. Getting access to that data has a wider impact than just taking down their website. Ritesh cited the example of Chinese hackers stealing data from a popular Japanese cosmetics company. They were able to get away with the IP of the company's signature face cream. The cream soon resurfaced under a Chinese brand name — made using the same formula — undercutting the price of the Japanese company by 30%. The uncertainty around Huawei, the ban on Chinese apps in the Indian market along with the investment restrictions are pushing China out of the loop when it comes to data from Indian users. Ritesh believes that the uptake in attacks is not temporary and won’t die down after the coronavirus pandemic. New players are entering the field of cyber warfare, and the digital world is all set to get more combative. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Thursday granted commercial 5G licences to the country's three telecommunications network operators and the nation's cable network giant, signalling major new investments in the world's largest mobile market amid a raging tech war with the United States. Hong Kong-listed carriers <keyword id="133270" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China-Mobile">China Mobile</keyword>, China Unicom and <keyword id="154965" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China-Telecom">China Telecom</keyword>, as well as China Broadcasting Network, were each awarded a licence to run commercial 5G services, according to MIIT. Beijing had granted licences at the end of 2018 to China's three state-owned carriers to conduct 5G trials but this is the first time it has given the go-ahead for full commercial deployment. The announcement has come amid speculation that the three network operators would be <a href="https://www.scmp.com/tech/enterprises/article/3012935/huawei-trade-ban-test-chinas-5g-roll-out-beijing-set-issue" target="_self">hard-pressed in pushing a large-scale 5G buildout</a> after the US government put telecoms gear provider Huawei Technologies on a trade blacklist. The US action has severed the access of Huawei, which has up to a 50 per cent share of China's telecoms equipment market, to American hi-tech suppliers, including semiconductor firms <keyword id="104695" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Qualcomm">Qualcomm</keyword> and Intel as well as software providers Google and Microsoft. The award of commercial 5G licences is "more a posture by China to make a statement that 5G will not be delayed just because of the US export ban on Huawei, giving it more bargaining power and creating stronger internal political support" according to Jefferies equity analyst Edison Lee. He said that MIIT's announcement may push the country's three telecoms network operators to accelerate their 5G mobile network roll-out plans. That move would enable China to move ahead in the global race to deploy telecoms infrastructure that will help power <a href="https://www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3006582/power-change-world-heres-why-us-and-china-are-fighting-over-our-5g" target="_self">the industrial internet, autonomous driving and smart cities</a>, among a range of advanced mobile applications.
