In his plea, Naidu contended that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had rejected his petition by ignoring his pleading that under Section 17A of the PC Act, which came into force on July 26, 2018, no FIR against a public servant could be registered without prior sanction of the appropriate authority. "In this case, a government corporation was formed and it was exclusively formed for this purpose of skill development and the proposal was moved by some private individuals...The money trail is very clearly seen," Additional DG of CID Sanjay told ANI. Further, DIG Sanjay said, "You see the role of the ED also in this when they moved in and arrested a few people. So this is a very clear case of government money being transferred and the project itself never happened... How the money went into shell companies and all, is again part of the investigation. So further investigation will reveal the exact end-to-end tie-ups." <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> was sent to judicial custody on Sunday for 14 days, till September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada in connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam. Earlier, TDP workers held a protest on Monday in Chittoor against the arrest and judicial custody of the TDP chief in the alleged skill development case. On Monday State Police also tried to detain several party leaders including TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth in Chittoor district as a preventive action to maintain law and order in the state. Protests were also held in Tirupati and West Godavari districts against the arrest and judicial custody of Chandrababu <keyword id="6362898" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="naidu" source="Orion">Naidu</keyword>. The case in which Naidu is arrested pertains to the establishment of clusters of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3300 crore, as per the officials. The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the state government in excess of Rs 300 crore. As per the CID, the investigation has revealed serious irregularities such as before any expenditure by private entities, the then state government provided an advance of Rs 371 crores, representing the entire 10 per cent commitment by the government. Most of the money advanced by the government was diverted to shell companies through fake invoices, with no actual delivery or sale of the items mentioned in the invoices, CID officials said. In its remand report, the CID has said that according to the investigation so far, the total amount spent by private entities on six skill development clusters is sourced exclusively from funds advanced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Centre, totalling Rs 371 crore.

Talking to mediapersons ahead of police taking him into custody, Naidu said, I did not commit any malpractice or corruption. CID arrested me without any proper information and I asked them to show the evidence but they refused to show and attached my name to the FIR without my role." The TDP chief was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with alleged in the skill development scam case. A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged in 2021. As police arrived early this morning to arrest the TDP Chief, they faced resistance from TDP cadres. A minor scuffle also broke out between officials and Naidu's supporters during his arrest. Naidu has been named as accused number 1 in the case, which involves over Rs 250 crore. Details of the FIR and other details were provided to Naidu's advocates, who also demanded prima facie evidence, pointing out that the former chief minister's name was not mentioned in the FIR report. The former Andhra Chief Minister has been charged under sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. "It is to inform you that you have been arrested under CrPc's Sections 120(8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 and 37 IPC and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," the notice issued under Section 50 (1) (2) of Criminal Procedure Code. According to details, Naidu was to be shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination. However, his medical check-up was conducted at a camp after he refused to go to the hospital. Naidu was taken to Vijayawada from Nandyal through the road. Earlier, there were reports that police would take him on the flight. The State Police also detained several party leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. (ANI)

Only 3-4 lakh votes have been counted till afternoon in most seats in Bihar where, on an average, about 10 lakh people have exercised their franchise in each constituency," said Jha. "We are confident that as the counting progresses, in many seats where we are trailing by slender margins, the picture will change. But we urge the Election Commission to carry out the exercise as per the rule book and not act on any telephone calls they may be getting from Delhi," said the Rajya Sabha MP, who has been alleging that the poll panel has often acted under pressure from the ruling BJP at the Centre. "To all our cadres in the INDIA coalition, I would appeal not to let their guard down. Counting may continue till late in the evening. We must remain vigilant," said Jha. Among the INDIA constituents in Bihar, RJD had contested 23 seats, out of which it was trailing in all but four, while Congress, which got nine seats, was leading in two. "In our government, there will be no games under the guise of three capitals. Our capital is Amaravati. Amaravati is the capital," asserted Naidu. As the first chief minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh between 2014 and 2019, he had floated the idea of Amaravati as the capital city. However, this brainchild of Naidu suffered a setback in 2019 when the TDP lost power and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP won a landslide victory. Reddy poured cold water on the <keyword id="3924608" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Amaravati-capital" source="Orion">Amaravati capital</keyword> city plans and propounded a new theory of three capitals, which Naidu has now replaced with the decision to have a single capital. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena won a landslide victory in the recently concluded simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state with a brute majority of 164 assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats. The triumph has breathed new life into the Amaravati capital city project.

Chandrababu Naidu announces Amaravati as sole capital city of Andhra Pradesh

Telangana CM <keyword id="80355" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="K-Chandrasekhar-Rao">K Chandrasekhar Rao</keyword> is now in trouble as a case has been registered against him for alleged illegal tapping of phone calls of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart <keyword id="6354350" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> in the wake of the cash-for-votes scam. 
 

	The case has been registered against KCR under Sections 464, 647, 471, 166, 167 and 120/B of IPC, according to a PTI report. 
	 

	Inspector of III-Town Police Station, B Tirumala Rao, said a Vizag-based advocate NVV Prasad has lodged a complaint against KCR for violating the basic rights of the Andhra Pradesh chief minister and "tarnishing" his image by tapping his telephone lines. 
	 

	In his complaint, the assistant Public Prosecutor accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of deliberately trying to snoop on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members. 
	 

	Meanwhile, a conversation in an audio tape between Chandrababu Naidu and nominated MLA Elvys Stephenson, aired in a section of local TV channels has given a new twist to the cash-for-votes controversy. On Sunday, <keyword id="2889050" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Parakala-Prabhakar-Advisor">Parakala Prabhakar Advisor</keyword> (Communications) to the Andhra government strongly denied all such reports saying that the tapes were fabricated. The conversation suggested that the <keyword id="209302" type="POSITION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Andhra-chief-minister">Andhra chief minister</keyword> was giving "assurance of all sorts" to the MLA if he votes for TDP nominee in the Telangana Legislative Council election. Prabhakar further alleged that the <keyword id="541763" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="Telangana-Government">Telangana government</keyword> is only trying to malign the image of Naidu by resorting to such cheap tactics. "It is not the chief minister's conversation. How come they are available outside. The Telangana government has to give answer to this. The Telangana CM and home minister should give answers," Parakala said.

Case lodged against Telangana CM for illegal phone-tapping of Andhra CM

If a man is judged by how he treats his enemies, then Andhra Chief Minister Jagan Reddy has a lot to answer for. His opposition leader <keyword id="6354350" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chandrababu-Naidu">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword> and his son are among many leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) placed under house arrest by his government. The current detention aims to prevent a protest rally. But it seems more like the latest crescendo in a political rivalry that spans at least two generations. Naidu alleges that eight of his party members were killed, and many more have been assaulted by the ruling YSR Congress party, led by debutante chief minister Jagan Reddy. “We, as a state, are at the worst possible phase in terms of safety for people. Is there a mechanism to protect people in Andhra? Even as YSRCP kickstarted a welfare center for government employees, another attack took place on our party members in Anantapuram,” Naidu said in a tweet in Telugu on September 6. Reddy dethrones Naidu from his lair In the 100 days that Reddy has ruled the state, a myriad of changes have come in. Jagan cited environmental laws to raze a conference hall in the state capital Amaravati, called Praja Vedika. Though it’s a government property, it was built and extensively used by Naidu and could be termed as his ‘lair’. Reddy found another building which was 'too close to the banks of Krishna river’. This happens to be a palatial home rented by Naidu. His security detail was also rolled back by the state government. Stripped off his power and pride, Naidu decided it was time to go back to the grassroots and accumulate some popular support via a protest march on foot, padyatra. But Reddy wouldn't have any of it. The current chief minister knows that padayatras built glorious political careers--starting from former CM and founder of TDP, N T Rama Rao, and Reddy’s own father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who was also a former CM, and Jagan himself. Painting his state in his colours Jagan Reddy has been a mystery to many people who know him, and do not. The five feet five inches tall 46-year-old appears to be soft spoken. Yet, he launched a phased and vicious attack on his bête noire, Naidu, without dreading public opinion. Some political pundits even say that Reddy wants to<a href="https://www.firstpost.com/india/arbitrary-decisions-by-ys-jagan-mohan-reddy-in-zeal-to-wipe-out-chandrababu-naidus-legacy-alarm-domestic-foreign-investors-in-andhra-pradesh-7172001.html"> wipe the state</a> clean of Naidu and his party. At the same time, he is literally painting the state in his colours. He has painted the state’s gram panchayats in the white, blue and green colours of his party flag. His deceased father’s photo are displayed prominently. Not all changes heralded by Reddy are cosmetic. He also cancelled the tender for Naidu’s pet project ₹3,200 crore Polavaram hydel power project. But he is keeping poll promises by taking over private liquor business, which is the first step to implement prohibition in the state. Reddy learns from Modi, but can they be friends? Reddy seems too have taken a leaf out of the same book as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Modi stormed to power in New Delhi, he used the momentum to take the <a href="https://caravanmagazine.in/politics/how-amit-shah-helped-modi-sideline-his-political-rivals-in-gujarat">floor from the opposition Congress </a>party, which was at the time, led by political elites well entrenched in the system. Yet, Modi and Reddy are not natural allies. Unlike Modi-led BJP which thrives on Hindu pride Reddy has been a Christian for three generations. Unsurprisingly, Reddy's move to give ₹5,000 per month honorarium to pastors in his state was against BJP's core philosophy and caused disagreement. The state’s BJP machinery has been attacking Reddy on minor matters of faith. Yet, Reddy is playing it safe with the party which is in power at the center. Maybe he does not want to make another bitter enemy of a party ruling at the center. Enemy’s enemy is not yet a friend The Congress party which was ruling in 2013 had cornered Reddy just the way he is targeting Naidu. And, with worse consequences. After his father’s mysterious death caused by a helicopter crash, the Reddy family clashed with the Gandhis of Congress party. Not only did that ensure that he did not get a place in the Congress party where his father belonged, it got him into more trouble. He had later blamed the Gandhis for instigating CBI raids at his home and offices. This culminated in a disproportionate assets case against him which is still in litigation. In fact, he also spent a few months at Chanchalguda jail. In that sense, BJP and YSRCP have a common enemy--the Congress Party. But, Reddy has not shown any inclination to make friends with the BJP. But if he manages to wipe out TDP from the state, then he could ensure that BJP will not dial its former partner Naidu once again. It will ensure that he can enjoy unabated power, which is what people in power always seem to crave for.

Years of bad blood between Jagan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu is spilling out

"In Amaravati today, the BJP, TDP and JSP forged a formidable seat-sharing formula. With this significant step, the people of Andhra Pradesh now stand on the threshold of reclaiming our state and paving the way for a brighter future. I humbly call upon my people of Andhra Pradesh to shower their blessings upon this alliance, and grant us a historic mandate to serve them," Naidu said in a post on X. As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Hyderabad became the capital of Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh had to find itself a new capital within ten years; until then, Hyderabad would serve as the capital for both states. In January this year, Jagan Mohan had announced that Visakhapatnam is going to be the capital with no mention of it in any state assembly discussion or on any official documents. Later, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had decided to make three capitals in different cities of the State in order to ensure development in all parts of the state. Gearing up for 2024 Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday announced that its general secretary <keyword id="1127225" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nara-lokesh" source="Orion">Nara Lokesh</keyword> will embark on a state-wide padyatra from January 27. <keyword id="19561" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="lokesh" source="Orion">Lokesh</keyword>, son of TDP president and former Chief Minister N. <keyword id="6354350" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chandrababu-naidu" source="Orion">Chandrababu Naidu</keyword>, will cover 4,000 km from Kuppam to Ichchapuram in 400 days. Titled '<keyword id="15902953" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="yuva-galam" source="Orion">Yuva Galam</keyword>', it will be an innovative platform for youth. It's a campaign to mobilise the youth to participate in the agenda-setting process, as well as to raise their voices to express their opinions and demand change. During the TDP's ongoing Idhem Kharma Mana Rashtraniki campaign, a large number of young people have been showing up and raising issues in the state that they would not have raised otherwise. The TDP had now entrusted Nara Lokesh with leading this walkathon to provide a platform for our youth and others to come together, speak up and fight for what they deserve. TDP's Andhra Pradesh unit president K. Acchannaidu said during the padyatra, Lokesh will interact with people from various sections of society to know their problems. The march will begin from Kuppam, the Assembly constituency in Chittoor represented by Chandrababu Naidu. The route map will be announced soon. The TDP alleges that Andhra Pradesh has been suffering under YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) rule for the last three-and-a-half years. "One person commits suicide every four days because of the unemployment. With over 1.5 crore people unemployed, our state has one of highest unemployment in the country. With skyrocketing fuel prices, we are leading the country's charts in paying the highest prices for petrol and diesel. During the last 3.5 years, every eight hours a woman in the state is victimised due to atrocities against her," the party said in a note released to mark the padyatra's announcement. "Due to backtracked development and lack of investments in the state, the future of youth in the state is at a crossroads. Youth constitute almost 50 per cent of the state's population but a mere 12% of the MPs from the state are under 40 years of age. We are unquestionably leading, but only in terms of drugs and alcohol abuse, crime rates. This is not what our people deserve," it added. The opposition party said Yuva Galam is a mass-outreach program by Nara Lokesh with the goal of sensitizing the youth and voters to the prevalent issues in current governance and interacting with them while walking 100 Assembly constituencies in the state. After it got separated from Telengana, people thought Andhra Pradesh is lost in the doom. But Naidu, the chief minister of the state has surely included some magic in his state. Having shone in the high beam of technical progress during India’s boom in IT, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=andhra+pradesh">Andhra Pradesh is now emerging</a> as India’s hottest mobile manufacturing hub in the country. 
 
India's top home-bred mobile handset makers Micromax, Karbonn and Celkon have agreed to invest a total of Rs 750 crore in setting up manufacturing facilities at the hardware hub being developed by the state government near temple town Tirupati. 
 
These 3 companies have signed agreements with the state government recently to set up their units at the industrial park coming up near Renigunta airport on the outskirts of Tirupati. 
Earlier, Taiwan-headquartered <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=foxconn">Foxconn</a>, the world's largest contract mobile handset maker, decided to set up a manufacturing plant in the state. The state government is in talks with more mobile handset and component makers, including <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Lava">Lava</a> and Intex, and is looking at creating an ecosystem, said Karthikeya Misra, industries' director of Andhra Pradesh. 
 
"We have formulated one of the most attractive industrial policies with special incentives pertaining to VAT (value-added tax) exemption to attract electronic hardware and components manufacturers," Misra told The Economic Times. 
 
 
Misra said the state government was looking at facilitating mobile handset makers to produce largest number of units from Andhra Pradesh, at least 7 million handsets a month from Foxconn's facility at Sri City and the three mobile manufacturers at Tirupati cluster by end of 2016. 
 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Micromax">Micromax</a>'s co-founder Rajesh Agarwal said the proposed unit at Tirupati will be its third manufacturing facility in India after Uttarakhand and the one coming up on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The company is looking to produce handsets, tablets, LED TVs and computer monitors from the Tirupati facility. 
 
Chandrababu Naidu told the press, the long-term target was to attract at least 30 mobile and electronic gadget manufacturers to southern Andhra region for creating a large electronics hardware ecosystem. The country's import cost of electronic gadgets was surpassing the oil import bill and encouraging local manufacturing will help the country save huge foreign exchange, he said.

Following reports that some traders are trying to take advantage of the situation by selling various essential items at inflated prices, Naidu has assured that vegetables would be provided at a low price. 
 Vegetables and milk are now being sent to <keyword id="36530" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="vishakhapatnam">Vishakhapatnam</keyword> uprooted trees and other debris from the roads have been removed, officials said. 
The state-run Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), a crucial mode of public transportation in the state, have resumed.
