New Delhi, The Union <keyword id="19901283" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cabinet" source="keywords">Cabinet</keyword>, chaired by Prime Minister <keyword id="19895781" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="keywords">Narendra Modi</keyword>, on Thursday approved the establishment of three semiconductor fabrication (fab) units that will start construction within the next 100 days and generate direct employment of 20,000 advanced technology jobs and nearly 60,000 indirect jobs. The semiconductor fab with 50,000 wafers per month capacity will be set up by Tata Electronics Private Ltd (TEPL) in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC), Taiwan, in Dholera, Gujarat. This fab will be constructed with an investment of Rs 91,000 crore, said Union IT Minister <keyword id="19904138" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ashwini-vaishnaw" source="keywords">Ashwini Vaishnaw</keyword>. This fab will cover high-performance compute chips with 28 nm technology, and power management chips for electric vehicles (EVs), telecom, defence, automotive, consumer electronics, display, power electronics, etc, according to the government. Another semiconductor assembly, testing, monitoring, and packing (ATMP) unit with a capacity of 48 million per day by Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (TSAT) in Morigaon, Assam, will be set up with an investment of Rs 27,000 crore. TSAT semiconductor is developing indigenous advanced semiconductor packaging technologies including flip chip and ISIP (integrated system in package) technologies. It will cover sectors like automotive, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, telecom and mobile phones, etc, according to the government. The third semiconductor ATMP unit for specialised chips will be set up by <keyword id="20541983" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cg-power" source="keywords">CG Power</keyword>, in partnership with Renesas Electronics Corporation, Japan and <keyword id="20776317" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stars-microelectronics" source="keywords">Stars Microelectronics</keyword>, Thailand in Sanand, Gujarat. "This unit with a capacity of 15 million per day will be set up with an investment of Rs 7,600 crore," the Centre said. The CG power semiconductor unit will manufacture chips for consumer, industrial, automotive, and power applications. Within a very short time, the India Semiconductor Mission has achieved four big successes. With these units, the semiconductor ecosystem will get established in India. India already has deep capabilities in chip design. With these units, the country will develop capabilities in chip fabrication. Advanced packaging technologies will be indigenously developed in India with Thursday's announcement. These units will accelerate employment creation in downstream automotive, electronics manufacturing, telecom manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, and other semiconductor consuming industries. The 'Programme for Development of Semiconductors and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem' in India was notified in 2021 with a total outlay of Rs 76,000 crore. In June last year, the Cabinet had approved the proposal of US-based Micron for setting up a semiconductor unit in Sanand, Gujarat. Construction of this unit is progressing at a rapid pace and a robust semiconductor ecosystem is emerging near the unit.

New Delhi, Dec 11 () The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has started probe into the alleged irregularities at CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd and its 15 group companies.
 "The company has received a letter...from the office of the Joint Director (Investigation), SFIO, Ministry of Corporate Affairs...informing that the Central Government...has ordered an investigation by the SFIO into the affairs of the company and its 15 related/group companies (not having been specifically identified in the said letter)...The said SFIO Investigation has been initiated," CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd said in a regulatory filing.
 The company was committed to cooperate with SFIO to enable them to complete its investigation in a time bound manner, the filing added.
 Sources had earlier said that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has filed a petition before the Mumbai-bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) seeking permission to re-open the books of account and recast the financial statements of CG Power and its subsidiary companies for the past five financial years beginning 2014-15.
 MCA had previously asked its SFIO to probe the affairs of the company along with 15 other firms, including two subsidiaries CG Power Solutions Ltd and CG International BV.
 The company had in August said that an investigation instituted by its board had found major governance and financial lapses, including some assets being provided as collateral and the money from the loans siphoned off by "identified company personnel, both current and past, including certain non-executive directors".

"It's not like we haven't had cellular or wireless-communications technologies in the past, but today we're seeing that 5G has caused a perfect-storm event, where customers who have been struggling with their Industry 4.0 digital-transformation projects, often due to lack of adequate communications technology, are now suddenly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel."What were previously stalled digital transformations have been energized by the reliable connectivity inherent in private 5G connections. For instance, Schneider Electric has turned its factory in Lexington, Kentucky, into the US's first smart factory, using 5G provided by NTT. This is commendable in our view, especially at a time when hotel players have either reported or are likely to post EBITDA loss (for players yet to announce results),” the report said. The company has gradually made its hotels operational with 86% of its inventory operational in June compared to 58% in April. “Some cost-cutting measures shall also persist post-COVID-19, which should increase EBITDA margin by 500–700bp,” the report said. CG Power is up over 61% in the past one month CG power has been in the news for various reasons in the past month. The company in late July completed the divestment process of its subsidiary, CG Service Systems France SAS (SEFR). Last week CG Power and Industrial Solutions also informed stock-exchanges that Murugappa Group company Tube Investments of India would be investing ₹700 crore to acquire 51% stake in the company. Balaji Amines is up over 16% in the past one month The chemical manufacturing company, Balaji Amines shares, have been riding on the hopes of manufacturing gains amid the pandemic. Also being one of the essential item manufacturers, Balaji Amines saw relatively smooth business operations during the lockdown period. The company’s net profit rose 72.11% to ₹32.96 crore in the quarter ended June 2020. SBI Card is up over 14% in the past one month The shares of the second-largest credit card issuer SBI Card is expected to gain more in the coming days, according to Geojit Financial Services. The brokerage has a ‘Buy’ call with a target price of ₹851. Earlier on July 21, the company also posted a 13.80% year-on-year (YoY) rise in net profit at ₹393.29 crore for the quarter ended June 30. Mumbai, Mar 5 () The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Thursday allowed a government petition seeking to reopen CG Power and Industrial Solutions accounts from 2014-15 to 2018-19.The corporate affairs ministry had filed an application in the NCLT seeking the appointment of an independent auditor to reopen the accounts of CG Power &amp; Industrial Solution from 2014-15 to 2018-19.The ministry in its prayer had said the reopening of the books of accounts is needed to bring out the truth in the larger public interest.The Mumbai-bench -- comprising members Bhaskara Pantula Mohan and Rajesh Sharma -- in its order also directed the government not to rely on the report by Vaish Associates, and asked them to conduct a separate investigation.The tribunal also denied CG Power &amp; Industrial Solution founder Gautam Thapar's plea to grant stay on the order.Earlier in January, the NCLT had quashed the audit report submitted by Vaish Associates, terming it bogus.Thapar was sacked based on this report, which was in fact penned by a rival agency KPMG.Dismissing the Vaish report, the bench had said it would rely only on a report either ordered independently or by a government agency in the matter. The Vaish report was ordered by the board of CG Power.Following report, the markets regulator Sebi had banned Thapar and entities associated with him for three years from the market, following which he moved the Securities Appellate Tribunal, which has asked the company to provide relevant documents to him but upheld the ban on him.Late November, the ministry asked the SFIO to launch a probe into the affairs of the company and 15 group entities.
