In the wake of protests against the Centre's Agnipath scheme, the <keyword id="11900977" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="gurugram" source="Orion">Gurugram</keyword> district administration on Friday imposed Section 144 <keyword id="90013" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="crpc" source="Orion">CrPC</keyword> as a precautionary measure to maintain law &amp; order. "Orders were issued as a precautionary measure to maintain the law &amp; order situation in district Gurugram," SDM Gurugram Ankita Chowdhary said. Section 144 of CrPC restricts the assembly of four or more persons in the district. Violators will be punished under Section 188 of the IPC. Demonstration was reported in Gurugram's Farrukhnagar Road in Chandu and <keyword id="6889440" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pataudi-road" source="Orion">Pataudi Road</keyword> on Friday morning. Around 100 people tried to block the Gurugram-Jhajjar Road and Pataudi Road but were removed by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sadar, <keyword id="953334" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="aman-yadav" source="Orion">Aman Yadav</keyword> who was stationed at the Rajiv Chowk along with the force, said "Adequate police force has been deployed in view of the protest. No one will be allowed to disrupt law and order in the city. Traffic movement on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway is smooth".

Thousands of youths assembled at the <keyword id="14209558" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jahanabad-railway-station" source="Orion">Jahanabad railway station</keyword> on Patna-Gaya rail route on Thursday and blocked the tracks as protests against the <keyword id="14209557" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Centres-Agnipath-scheme" source="Orion">Centre's Agnipath scheme</keyword> entered day two in Bihar. Demanding rollback of the scheme and recruitment under normal process, the agitators also blocked Patna-Gaya road route. At the <keyword id="204829" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="jahanabad" source="Orion">Jahanabad</keyword> railway station, the agitating students blocked the Patna-Gaya passenger train. The railway officials, along with district police, attempted to placate them and requested them to leave the railway track to restore transportation on the route. Besides, a large number of protestors also assembled at Kako Mor on Patna Gaya main road and burnt tyres. They raised slogans against Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword> and Defence Minister <keyword id="6355121" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="rajnath-singh" source="Orion">Rajnath Singh</keyword> accusing them of "compromising" the youths' future. Many of them alleged that the Centre was not hiring 'Agniveers' but "Bali Ka Bakra" (Scapegoats) for four years. The agitating students set a coach of intercity express at Bhabua road railway station afire in Kaimur districts. They threw a burning tyre in the intercity express after passengers deboarded. In Nawada, the protestors burnt tyres on Nawada railway station and on busy Prajatantra Chowk. Due to massive protests, the traffic on the Gaya-Keul rail section was also disrupted. The Howrah-Gaya express was also stopped at Warsaliganj railway station. Several trains on this route were also stopped at several stations. Incidents of stone pelting were also reported from Arrah. Earlier on Wednesday, a large number of youths demonstrated in Muzaffarpur and Buxar districts of the state and disrupted road and rail traffic. Protests against Agnipath scheme continue as army aspirants raise concerns about pensions and job security

Amid widespread anger and protest over Centre's <keyword id="13558307" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agnipath-scheme" source="Orion">Agnipath scheme</keyword>, the <keyword id="6354416" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="indian-army" source="Orion">Indian Army</keyword> on Monday issued notification for the first round of recruitment through the scheme. As per the notification, the registration for the recruitment rallies will start from July. "The registrations will be opened from July onwards by the respective <keyword id="1497108" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Army-Recruitment-Offices" source="Orion">Army Recruitment Offices</keyword> (ARO) for <keyword id="14193007" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="agniveer" source="Orion">Agniveer</keyword> General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Technical (aviation/ammunition examiner), Agniveer clerk/store keeper technical, Agniveer tradesman (10th pass) and Agniveer Tradesman (8th pass) as per the ARO rally schedule", the <keyword id="15350" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="army" source="Orion">Army</keyword> notification reads. The notification released by the Indian Army broadly outlines terms and conditions of service, eligibility, discharge and other important information related to the scheme. "Agniveers enrolled under the scheme will not be eligible for any kind of Pension and Gratuity", said the notification issued on Monday. The service of the 'Agniveers' will commence from the date of enrolment. They would form a distinct rank in the Army, different from other existing ranks, it said further. The personnel enrolled under this scheme will be required to undergo periodical medical checkups along with physical/written/field tests as per orders, said the notification. The notification has come on a day when several groups called 'Bharat Bandh'. The national capital also witnessed traffic jams as the police have tightened security across the city and its bordering areas. Indian army issues first recruitment notice amid protest

The Centre on Thursday raised the upper-age limit for recruitment under the <keyword id="13558307" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agnipath-scheme" source="Orion">Agnipath scheme</keyword> to 23 years from 21 years for the year 2022 amid protest and agitation against the new <keyword id="14201929" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Army-recruitment-scheme" source="Orion">Army recruitment scheme</keyword>. "Consequent to the commencement of the AGNIPATH scheme, the entry age for all <keyword id="174481" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-recruits" source="Orion">new recruits</keyword> in the <keyword id="3790" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="armed-forces" source="Orion">Armed Forces</keyword> has been fixed as 17 and a half - 21 years of age. Cognizant of the fact that it has not been possible to undertake the recruitment during the last two years, the Government has decided that a one-time waiver shall be granted for the proposed recruitment cycle for 2022," the government said in a statement. Earlier, when the scheme was annouced on Tuesday, the government had said the entry age for all new recruits will have to be from 17 and a half year to 21 year. The last 10 years have been the most peaceful time for India after independence if you see the numbers," Dilip Mandal told ANI. "During the Congress regime, so many riots used to happen, if you compare that in the last 10 years, only two major communal riot incidents have happened, Delhi and Manipur. So the scale has reduced...riots don't last long now," he said. Mandal alleged Gandhi's remarks as an attempt "to scare investors" and added that the Congress party is "again trying to appease" Muslims. "This is an attempt to scare the investors and it will affect India. Congress is again trying to appease Muslims. He is thinking of getting the Muslim votes, especially the Muslim votes of Bihar and UP, from SP and RJD," Mandal said.
