Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj stated that nature seems to repeatedly create opportunities to expose Delhi's <keyword id="21554677" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="LG-Vinai-Saxena" source="keywords">LG Vinai Saxena</keyword>, who is ruling Delhi, and reveal his truth to the whole country. The Delhi Health Minister continued, "The LG continuously hides behind his office and indirectly spreads lies to the public and the media. One such lie was again presented to the media yesterday from the LG's office. I request the LG to stop hiding behind his office and indirectly presenting lies to the public. Instead, he should hold a press conference and write these lies himself to present them to the media and the people of the country so that action can be taken against him for his falsehoods." However, due to the significant <keyword id="22439640" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shortage-of-doctors" source="keywords">shortage of doctors</keyword>, nurses, <keyword id="22298861" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="paramedical-staff" source="keywords">paramedical staff</keyword>, lab technicians, and OT technicians in Delhi hospitals, these poor people are not able to receive adequate and complete treatment, which is being done deliberately under a conspiracy. Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj expressed his surprise at a news article that stated it is the Delhi government's responsibility to fill the <keyword id="20499569" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vacant-posts" source="keywords">vacant posts</keyword> of doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staff in Delhi hospitals. He emphasized that everyone knows the 'Services' Department falls directly under the LG of Delhi, making it the responsibility of the Lieutenant Governor to fill these vacancies. The Health Minister presented letters he had written earlier to the LG informing him about these vacancies. He stated that after taking over as the Health Minister of Delhi in March 2023, he wrote his first letter to the LG on April 19, 2023, informing him of a shortage of 292 General Medical Duty Officers (GDMOs) and 234 Specialists in Delhi Government hospitals, and appealed for these vacancies to be filled as soon as possible. No action was taken to fill these vacancies. Instead, doctors holding high positions in Delhi Government hospitals through <keyword id="22672127" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Health-Services" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Central Health Services" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Central Health Services">Central Health Services</keyword> (CHS) were also recalled by the Central Government, removing them from Delhi Government hospitals.

Delhi Health Minister accuses LG Vinai Saxena of not filling vacant posts in Delhi hospitals

The national capital has reported an "isolated" case of Japanese Encephalitis, official sources said on Thursday. All public health measures have been instituted as per the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) guidelines, the sources said, adding there was no cause for concern. Referring to an order issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday, the sources said that the 72-year-old man from west Delhi was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on November 3 following chest pain. The patient was diabetic, had coronary artery disease, bilateral lower limb weakness and bowel and bladder incontinence, the source said. After the patient's blood sample was collected on November 6, he tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis. He was discharged on November 15, the sources said. According to the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme data, in 2024, 1,548 Japanese Encephalitis cases were reported from 24 states and Union Territories, with 925 cases from Assam alone. The central government guidelines, two doses of the vaccine have been a part of the Universal Immunisation Programme since 2013. Adult <keyword id="24203625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Japanese-Encephalitis-vaccine" source="keywords">Japanese Encephalitis vaccine</keyword> has been introduced in high-burden states, sources said. "No outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis has been reported in Delhi in the past although occasional isolated cases have been reported from tertiary hospitals like AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung among others - mostly from neighbouring states," a source said. While all public health measures have been instituted according to the NCVBDC guidelines, there is no cause for concern due to this isolated case of Japanese Encephalitis, the source said. The Japanese Encephalitis virus is normally carried by waterfowl and amplified in pigs from where it is accidentally transmitted to humans through the bite of infected culex mosquitoes. The infection may result in febrile illness and in a small proportion of cases cause neurological illness and may result in death, he said. There is no specific treatment for Japanese Encephalitis and there is no human-to-human transmission of the virus, the source said. Delhi reports 'isolated' case of Japanese Encephalitis

Union Finance Minister Nirmala <keyword id="19916494" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sitharaman" source="keywords">Sitharaman</keyword> on Friday urged officers of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (<keyword id="19908147" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBIC" source="keywords">CBIC</keyword>) to proactively address <keyword id="20283921" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="doubts" source="keywords">doubts</keyword> and concerns raised by the public and business community regarding taxes before they escalate into grievances. Speaking at the inauguration of the new <keyword id="22890667" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="GST-Bhawan" source="keywords">GST Bhawan</keyword> in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Sitharaman emphasized the importance of a preventive approach in handling tax-related issues. She highlighted that government officials should prioritize solving problems at the stage where they are mere doubts, rather than allowing them to develop into full-blown grievances. "Before addressing a grievance, if we spend time through outreach to clear the doubts and suspicions in their minds, those doubts won't escalate into grievances" said Finance Minister Sitharaman. Sitharaman also highlighted the significance of effective information sharing in this process. She suggested that by engaging in sector-wise outreach and addressing any doubts that arise, officials could prevent potential issues from turning into grievances. "I request that before grievances arise, we should definitely carry out outreach sector by sector. If there are any doubts in their minds after this and some changes need to be made accordingly, we can make those changes as well. So, more than anything else, we need to focus on information sharing" added Sithraman. The Finance Minister's remarks emphasized a shift towards a more communicative and responsive approach in tax administration, aiming to foster better relationships between the government and the business community while minimizing conflicts and misunderstandings. Union Minister Sitharaman is on a two-day visit to Udaipur, On Thursday the minister chaired a meeting to review the performance of nine Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) of the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. The minister asked Regional rural banks (RRBs) to ensure easy credit to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). She asked the RRBs to become more customer-friendly and leverage their local connections to further improve performance. "All RRBs have devised customised MSME products aligning with cluster activities. However, they need to regularly review their credit portfolio in that segment", she said. She also highlighted that Sponsor Banks and RRBs must recognise the challenges that lie ahead, especially maintaining asset quality, expanding digital services, and ensuring robust corporate governance are the areas that require continued focus.
