The results of both class 10 and 12 will be declared at an interval of just a few days. However, the decision to open schools will be taken after August keeping in mind the current COVID-19 situation. At present, <keyword id="5912066" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Ministry-of-Human-Resource-Development">the Ministry of Human Resource Development</keyword> has not set any date for <keyword id="9009652" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="reopening-schools">reopening schools</keyword>. Nishank said during a discussion "We hope that the results of both 10th and 12th class will be declared by August 15. These include the results of previous exams and the results of examinations in July." On the issue of reopening of schools, Nishank said "after August the process of opening schools will be started." A final decision in this regard will be taken only after assessing the prevailing conditions. According to the HRD ministry, after August, new sessions will also start in universities. Meanwhile, the <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> government in Delhi has also written to the HRD ministry on the subject of reopening schools. Delhi Education Minister <keyword id="6354681" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="manish-sisodia">Manish Sisodia</keyword> said in the letter, "Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said some time ago that we have to learn to live with coronavirus. So it would be better to open schools with proper safety measures." Sisodia said that first of all, we have to assure every child that they are important to us. Everyone has equal rights over the physical and intellectual environment of his school. Education cannot progress beyond online classes only. It would be impossible to pursue education only by calling older children to school and keeping younger children at home. Several private schools have also suggested measures to the HRD ministry to open schools and safety in schools during this period. However, the ministry is not in a hurry to reopen schools at present. According to senior officials of the ministry, at present, preparations are being made to conduct the remaining board exams of class 10 and 12 between July 1 and 15. After the examinations, the first priority is to declare the results. Only then can the process of reopening school colleges begin.

Indian government may allow schools to open after August 15

The Central Board of Secondary Education (<keyword id="6356155" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword>) has released dates for practical examinations for Std. X and XII. According to the schedule, practical assessments will be held between January 1 and February 7, 2020. The practical examinations will take place in the presence of CBSE’s external examiner. This year onwards, the board has directed schools to send a group photograph of the external examiner, students and the internal teacher during the exams. The schools will have to upload the photographs on the website along with batch number and date among other details. “An app link will be provided to schools for uploading one group photograph of each batch during the practical examinations. The class group photo should consist of all the candidates of that batch, external examiner, internal examiner and observer. The photograph should be taken in the laboratory where practical exams are being held and laboratory should also be seen clearly in the photograph,” Sanyam Bharadwaj, CBSE controller of examinations<a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chandigarh/cbse-tells-schools-to-send-group-photograph-of-practical-exams/articleshow/71947563.cms"> told </a>TOI. The final board examinations are expected to be held from February 15, 2020. Students can check further details at the board’s official website cbse.nic.in.

CBSE board seeks photographic proof of practical exams for Std X and XII

The class XII results declared by the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) today brought cheers for girls as they outshone boys. 
 
While the overall passing percentage this time was 82, the pass percentage of girls stood at 87.56 as compared to 77.77% of the boys. 
 
However, the overall pass percentage was marginally lower than last year where 82.70 per cent students had passed the exam. 
 
Total 10,40,368 students had registered for class XII examination this year, an increase of about 1.2% students against last year. 
 
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram registered the highest pass percentage at 95.41. 
 
M Gayatri of New Green Fields School topped the CBSE board in the country securing 99.2% as she scored 496 marks out of 500. 
 
The second rank is shared by three students- Mythili Mishra (Noida), B Arun (Trivandram) and Saurabh Bhambri (Delhi), scoring 495 marks. Students who got third rank scored 494 out of 500 marks. 
 
Also, 13,284 students in foreign countries had also appeared in the class XII exams and their pass percentage is 92.31.

CBSE class XII results are out! Girls perform better than boys

Delhi Chief Minister <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> will announce tomorrow the dates for reintroduction of the 'odd-even' scheme in Delhi. Transport Minister <keyword id="6391020" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gopal-Rai">Gopal Rai</keyword> said that the government will make the announcement after reviewing over 11 lakh responses received from the public through multiple channels today. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia suggested that the licence plate policy will be back "once again" while sources said that its next phase could be enforced in April after the <keyword id="658072" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBSE-Board-examinations">CBSE Board examinations</keyword>. 

	"The scheme is all set to make a comeback. Ministers including the Chief Minister will announce the dates in a press conference tomorrow," sources said. 
 

	Earlier, Rai tweeted, "Delhi government will take a decision on the future of odd-even tomorrow. The public feedback report is being prepared today." 
 The <keyword id="3240421" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="road-rationing-experiment">road rationing experiment</keyword>, aimed at curbing air pollution in the metropolis, was implemented from January 1-15 in its first phase with Sundays being exempted from it. 

	Subsequently, the government invited public opinion through emails, missed calls, online forms and also reached out to around 9 lakh people through interactive voice response system. 
 

	"Around 28,300 suggestions have been received through online forms while another 9,000 and 1,82,808 have come through emails and missed called respectively. The government, on its part, has made more than 9,00,000 calls to gather public opinion," a senior government official said. 
 <keyword id="6356115" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="AAP">AAP</keyword> MLAs, who organised Jan Sabhas on the same theme, have claimed that public opinion was "overwhelmingly" in favour of re-introduction of the scheme.

'Odd-even' set make a comeback; Delhi CM Kejriwal to announce dates tomorrow

The Supreme Court on Thursday said the ongoing exam process cannot be suddenly made online, which may result in rescheduling the examination, as it junked a plea by a group of students seeking directions to conduct term exams for Classes 10 and 12 for the <keyword id="6356155" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="cbse" source="Orion">CBSE</keyword> and ICSE boards via hybrid mode, rather than physical. A bench comprising Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and C.T. Ravikumar told the petitioners' counsel: "Don't mess up with the education system. Let the authorities continue their work..." The bench noted that if the court were to interfere at this stage, it may lead to practical difficulties as the exams have already commenced. The bench told senior advocate <keyword id="4752448" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sanjay-hedge" source="Orion">Sanjay Hedge</keyword>, representing the petitioners: "Exams are going on. Let us be practical. Now how can it be online...It's too late now and exams cannot be rescheduled." Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, assured the top court that Covid concerns have been taken care of and all necessary precautions have been put in place, to conduct the exams. Mehta said: "Earlier 40 students sat in a class, but now only 12 students will be sitting in a class so that there is social distancing. Number of exam centers has been increased to 15,000..." Noting that the petitioners have moved the top court late, the bench said the last-minute business should not be encouraged and declined to entertain the petition. The petitioners argued that the CBSE and ICSE boards, conducting exams via physical mode, are acting in contravention of Covid guidelines. The exams for Classes 10 and 12 students for the academic year 2021-22 are scheduled to be held from November 16 and November 22. The petitioners contended that about 26,000 schools are affiliated to the <keyword id="64578" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse-board" source="Orion">CBSE Board</keyword> alone and at any rate, such continuous exposure through offline exams sharply increases the risk of infection to Covid-19 rendering the impugned action as arbitrary and in violation of right to health. Supreme Court rejects the plea to conduct CBSE, ICSE class 10 and 12 term exams via hybrid mode

At an age when most students are clueless about the career they want to pursue, 15-year-old Abhay Agrawal has cracked JEE Advance 2017 - one of India's toughest exam. With 2476 All India Rank, he has even secured a seat in <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword>-BHU. Abhay has secured admission in mechanical engineering, but has not yet confirmed his seat and instead opted to `float' the given choice of institute as he wants to study at IIT Roorkee. He jumped initial classes and completed Class 12 before his contemporaries at school. "My parents got me enrolled at a coaching class in the city. Some people discouraged me but that motivated me to study harder," said Abhay. Unlike his classmates, he stayed away from social media and other distractions while preparing for the competition. He comes from a modest family. His father Mukesh works as a pump attendant at Firozabad Nagar Nigam, and his mother, Ekta, is a Class 12 passout. His father said, "Abhay has brought us laurels at an early age. When the chief medical officer in Firozabad had to prepare his medical certificate, he was surprised. At IIT Kanpur also, JEE staff was amazed to know he was this young. He is a talented boy with high capabilities. He would finish BTech also in the stipulated time." Meanwhile, on his feat, a JEE staffer said, "He could be the youngest candidate this year to join an IIT. His class 10 mark sheet confirms that he is fifteen and a half year old. He was born on November 9, 2001.” In class 12 exams Abhay had scored 87.2 percent from CBSE Board and scored 85.63 percent in class 10 from UP Board. Unlike his classmates, he stayed away from social media and other distractions while preparing for the competition. He aspires to own a startup that will deal in products related to robotics.

Meet 15-year-old Abhay Agarwal who is one of the youngest students to enter IIT

Bifurcating the academic session, holding two term-end exams and rationalising the syllabus were part of the special assessment scheme for class 10 and 12 board examinations in 2021-22 announced by the <keyword id="69419" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Board-of-Secondary-Education">Central Board of Secondary Education</keyword> (<keyword id="6356155" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="cbse">CBSE</keyword>) on Monday in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The term one exams will be conducted by the Board in November-December, 2021 while the second term exams will be conducted in March-April, 2022, as per an official order by <keyword id="606469" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Joseph-Emmanuel">Joseph Emmanuel</keyword>, Director (Academic) of the CBSE. The syllabus for the board examination will be rationalised, similar to that of the last academic session, and will be notified in July 2021, it said and also announced plans to make the internal assessment and project work more "credible" and "valid". At the end of the first term, the board will organise exams in a flexible schedule between November-December 2021 with a window period of 4-8 weeks for schools situated in different parts of the country and abroad. "The exams will have Multiple Choice Questions (<keyword id="110202" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="McQ">MCQ</keyword>) including case-based MCQs and MCQs on assertion-reasoning type. Duration of test will be 90 minutes and it will cover only the rationalised syllabus of the first term. The question papers will be sent by the CBSE to schools along with the marking scheme. "The exams will be conducted under the supervision of the external center superintendents and observers appointed by CBSE. The responses of students will be captured on <keyword id="6470854" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="omr">OMR</keyword> sheets which, after scanning may be directly uploaded at the CBSE portal or alternatively may be evaluated and marks obtained will be uploaded by the school on the very same day," he added. At the end of the second term, the board would organise Term <keyword id="254453" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="II">II</keyword> or year-end examination based on the rationalised syllabus. "This examination would be held around March-April 2022 at the examination centres fixed by the board. The paper will be of two hours duration and have questions of different formats (case-based/ situation based, open ended- short answer/ long answer type). "In case the situation is not conducive for normal descriptive examination a 90-minute MCQ-based exam will be conducted at the end of the second term also," Emmanuel said. The CBSE has decided that in case the situation of the pandemic improves and students are able to come to schools or centres for taking the exams, the board would conduct Term I and II examinations at schools or centres and the theory marks will be distributed equally between the two exams. "In case the situation of the pandemic forces complete closure of schools during November-December 2021, but second term exams are held at schools or centres, the Term I MCQ based examination would be done by students online or offline from home but their weightage will be reduced in the final score," he said. Similarly, if the November-December exams are conducted in schools or centres and situation is not conducive in March-April, the result will be declared on basis of first term exams. "In case the situation of the pandemic forces complete closure of schools and Board conducted Term I and II exams are taken by the candidates from home in the session 2021-22, results would be computed on the basis of their marks clubbed with internal assessment subject to the moderation or other measures to ensure validity and reliability of the assessment," Emmanuel explained. The syllabus for the academic session 2021-22 will be divided into two terms by following a systematic approach by looking into the interconnectivity of concepts and topics by the Subject Experts. "The Board will conduct examinations at the end of each term on the basis of the bifurcated syllabus. This has been done to increase the probability of having a board conducted classes 10 and 12 examinations at the end of the academic session," he said. Schools will also use alternative academic calendar and inputs from the NCERT on transacting the curriculum. "Efforts will be made to make internal assessment, practical, project work more credible and valid as per the guidelines and moderation policy to be announced by the board to ensure fair distribution of marks," he added. The announcement by the CBSE comes after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of board exams this year after much uncertainty. Last year too, exams of some subjects were not held. "The cancellation of exams also necessitated deliberations over alternative ways to look at the learning objectives as well as the conduct of the board examinations for next academic session in case the situation remains unfeasible," Emmanuel said. The board said that the decision has been arrived at following stakeholder consultations with government and private schools from across the country including the ones from remote rural areas and a majority of them have requested for the rationalisation of the syllabus, similar to last year in view of reduced time permitted for organising online classes. "The board has also considered the concerns regarding differential availability of electronic gadgets, connectivity and effectiveness of online teaching and other socio-economic issues specially with respect to students from economically weaker section and those residing in far-flung areas of the country," Emmanuel said.
