Anwar lived in Kargil during the India-Pakistan war of 1999. He wants the students of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir to look beyond professional courses like engineering and MBBS. “I am thinking of approaching the J&amp;K government and setting up an academy to help young boys and girls pursue MBA,” he said. According to him, Kargil students are unaware of coaching institutes for MBA entrance exams. "I want to open an academy in Kargil to train kids to crack CAT,” he told The tImes of India. Anwar graduated from IIM Ahmedabad — one of the leading MBA institutes in India — said that he witnessed a cultural shift, moving from Kargil to Ahmedabad. He missed security forces on the roads. Anwar secured an on campus job in the metal and mining company Vedanta at an annual salary of ₹30 lakhs. He is currently handling the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities of the group, to promote football learning centres in Rajasthan and Goa. This IIM alumni wants to coach students of war-hit Kargil crack CAT exam

<ul><li>The <keyword id="84486" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="All-INdia-radio">All India Radio</keyword> (AIR) will launch a radio programme focussed to train students in English. </li><li>The programme titled ‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ will be aired from 1 September at 11 am. </li><li> It will have 15 minutes learning sessions and will broadcast a total of 120 episodes. </li><li>According to a BBC survey, merely 10% of the total population in India is fluent in English.</li></ul>The All India Radio (AIR) will launch a radio programme to train students in English. The programme called ‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ (Come let's learn English) will be aired from 1 September at 11 am. The radio broadcast is initiated by the UN International Children's Fund (UNICEF), <keyword id="54028" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sarva-Shiksha-Abhiyan">Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan</keyword> (SSA), and the Uttar Pradesh government. It aims to enhance pronunciation and speaking skills of students, with 15 minute sessions. It will broadcast a total of 120 episodes. According to a<a href="http://www.sundayobserver.lk/2019/08/11/thoughts/english-language-cannot-be-taught-it-must-be-learnt"> BBC survey</a>, merely 10% of the total population in India is fluent in English. However, with the government stepping up efforts to reform education and extend it to minority sections, it is expected to rise four times by 2030. To start with, the programme will be launched from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) for students of classes V to VIII. "Teachers and Block Education officers have been directed to ensure the availability of a radio and their proper functioning before September 1,” IANS reported citing Basic Education Department officials. Meanwhile, state governments have also asked shiksha adhikaris (education officers) to conduct quiz contests and essay writing competition every three months. On similar lines, Google <a href="https://www.livemint.com/education/news/elsa-launches-in-india-to-improve-english-speaking-skills-of-indians-1565008057037.html">launched an English Language Speech Assistant (ELSA)</a> application in India recently to improve English speaking skills. It is focussed on training students in <keyword id="477335" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="grammar">grammar</keyword>. “ELSA is trying to fill the heavily ignored but essential gap of correct pronunciation and accent,” Mint reporting citing Ankit Raj, who is a part of ELSA India. The centre said that it will hire as many as 1,300 engineers for the valley’s first metro project, in a move that will boost infrastructure as well as employment. The project will hire across domains like architecture, telecommunications, traffic management, signal electronics and civil engineering, TOI<a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/srinagar-metro-to-absorb-1300-engineers-others/articleshow/70579874.cms"> reported</a>. This is good news for the heavily qualified yet unemployed youth in the state. According to the Directorate of Employment, around 150,000 postgraduates and doctorates in Jammu &amp; Kashmir are jobless. Cheaper metro fares The 25 km long metro will connect Indira Nagar to HMT Junction and Hamzuri Bagh to Osmanabad through Srinagar. The fares of this metro will also be cheaper at 1.5 times that of a bus — unlike other metros across the country. The metro project is expected to cost ₹5,108 crore — and nearly 21% of it will be funded by the centre. The Jammu and Kashmir government will also infuse equal amount into the project. Once operational, the government is expecting a return of investment of ₹146 crore from the project, in the first five years. “Revenue for the <keyword id="7960419" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Srinagar-Metro">Srinagar Metro</keyword> will mainly consist of farebox collection and non-fare box sources such as parking, taxes, advertisements, and property development,” TOI reported citing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Srinagar. In July, <keyword id="2773123" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Satya-Pal-Malik">Satya Pal Malik</keyword>, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir government announced the ‘Light Rail Transit Systems’ for Jammu and Srinagar. <a href="https://www.greaterkashmir.com/news/kashmir/light-rail-transit-systems-for-srinagar-jammu-to-be-completed-in-four-to-five-years-govt/">Rail Indian Technical and Economic Services</a> (RITES) will take over the project. The tender is expected to be released by the end of August. Indian government to ‘reorganise’ Jammu and Kashmir — plans to hire 1,300 engineers for its first Metro project

<ul><li>The <keyword id="63618" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Management">Indian Institute of Management</keyword> (IIM), Calcutta, on Thursday, signed two Memorandum of Understanding with <keyword id="663053" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Carleton-University">Carleton University</keyword>, Canada and Montpellier Business School, France. </li><li>The move initiated under the Student Exchange Programme (STEP). </li><li>The five-year long pact with Carleton University will foster research programmes and collaborations. </li><li>To make India a ‘hub of higher education, the government will infuse ₹400 crores to build world class institutions in India.</li></ul>The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta signed agreements with two international universities — Carleton University of Canada and Montpellier Business School in France, the university said in a press release. The MoUs will initiate a Student Exchange Programme (STEP) which will focus on boosting teaching, research, and cultural understanding. “STEP is an integral part of <keyword id="78512" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIM-Calcutta">IIM Calcutta</keyword>’s internationalization efforts. It is aimed at providing IIM Calcutta students an opportunity to have learning experience from international environment,” Professor Prashant Mishra, Dean, New Initiatives and External Relations said. The five-year long agreement with Carleton University will foster research, collaboration, executive training and capacity building with scholarship programmes. “It is the intent of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta to establish precise academic and financial arrangements, and to support, as appropriate, the exchange of personnel between Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and Carleton University,” the university noted. The association between Montpellier Business School and Indian Institute of Management Calcutta will cater to postgraduate and doctoral students, along with teachers and research aspirants. As a part of this, the university will introduce joint executive development programmes, joint research programmes, joint conferences and workshops. “This helps them sharpen their practical skills, equips them with the ability to work in culturally diverse teams and contributes largely to their personal and professional development,” Mishra added. The Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nirmala-Sitharaman">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> announced in the Union Budget 2019 that she wants to make India a hub of higher education.
