The company's <keyword id="45663" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="revenue" source="Orion">revenue</keyword> from operations went up 63.9 per cent to Rs 816 crore in FY23 from Rs 498 crore in the earlier <keyword id="44623" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-year" source="Orion">financial year</keyword>, reports Entrackr, citing its financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The sale of used <keyword id="38260" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="mobile-phones" source="Orion">mobile phones</keyword> and other electronic gadgets made 93 per cent of the total operating revenue, which increased by 63.9 per cent to Rs 762 crore in FY23 from Rs 465 crore in FY22. In June last year, Cashify secured more than $90 million in its <keyword id="2811557" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="series-e-funding" source="Orion">Series E funding</keyword> from NewQuest Capital Partners and Prosus. Existing investors Bessemer, Blume Ventures and Olympus Capital invested in this round, with participation from new investor Paramark Ventures. "We look forward to stepping up our presence and offerings for our valued customers in India and fulfilling our broader goal of integrating the circular economy," Mandeep Manocha, Founder and CEO of Cashify, had said. Apart from smartphone buyback, Cashify has become a smartphone-centric brand with comprehensive mobile care at users' doorsteps. Cashify's losses surge nearly 50% to Rs 148 cr in FY23, revenue up 64%

Determining consumer behaviour toward selling pre-owned phones and the level of awareness on the correct disposal processes with dysfunctional phones, a new survey on Tuesday revealed that over 52 per cent of consumers have two or more unused or <keyword id="2592985" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="old-devices" source="Orion">old devices</keyword> in their household. According to re-commerce marketplace <keyword id="3501427" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="cashify" source="Orion">Cashify</keyword>, 36 per cent of consumers who did not get rid of their phones wanted to keep them as a spare phones for work and emergencies, while 25 per cent did not receive a good price for their devices in the market. "While the average consumer is aware of the processes leading to the disposal of old devices and is willing to take the extra step, a small percentage of users are still reluctant to dispose of their old phones owing to data safety and their prior disposal methods," <keyword id="2898208" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nakul-kumar" source="Orion">Nakul Kumar</keyword>, CMO and <keyword id="170488" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="co-founder" source="Orion">Co-Founder</keyword>, Cashify, said in a statement. "We hope that with our whitepaper and user survey, we shall make people aware of the pros of buying refurbished and encourage people to start selling their old phones instead of storing them in their drawers," Kumar added. Nearly 10 per cent of the respondents shared that they lacked knowledge on what to do with their old devices, while only 3 per cent shared their concerns on data security when selling their old devices. The report said 62 per cent of the respondents changed their devices between 1-3 years, owing to upgrading their devices with better technology and features (54 per cent). It further stated that out of the respondents who bought refurbished smartphones in the last two years, 85 per cent of them said they will buy a refurbished device again. Around 70 per cent bought a refurbished phone due to the affordability factor, 12 per cent of respondents bought it as a spare device and 13 per cent brought home a refurbished device as a gift for a loved one, the report, which included over 8,000 consumers across pan-India, said. Oppo launches mid-range Reno8 T smartphone and affordable Enco Air3 truly wireless earbuds in India

The long pending wage revision talks between the General Insurers' (Public Sector) Association of India (GIPSA) and the various employee unions have begun in a bad taste. The talks were held on Wednesday. The GIPSA, the lobby body for the four government owned multiline non-life insurers and the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) made their offer that was expected to be rejected and the unions rejected the same. The wage revision for the public sector general insurance employees was due from August 1, 2017. "The GIPSA offered seven per cent hike on the wage bill (without any wage arrears from 2017) or five per cent wage hike with two per cent of arrears," Sanjay Jha, Secretary Standing committee (General Insurance, All India Insurance Employees Association-AIIEA), told IANS. Jha said the AIIEA and other unions have rejected the 'disappointing' offer. According to him, the Joint Forum of Trade Unions and Associations will hold demonstrations during the lunch recess demanding a respectable wage offer maintaining insurance sector parity. "The financial position of the companies in 2017 was good. There is no reason for the management to make such an offer. Perhaps it is done to delay the wage revision further," said Vijay Sharma, President, National Confederation of General Insurance Officers Association (CONFED) and All India President of New India Assurance Officers Association. Sharma said the employees expect at least a 15 per cent hike offer, similar to what was given to the employees of Life Insurance Corporation of India. India’s second-hand smartphone market is primed for growth

Capturing 28.52 per cent of the Indian mobile phone market, South Korean giant <keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword> sold maximum number of devices in 2016, followed by <keyword id="6354427" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Apple">Apple</keyword> <keyword id="6354606" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="iPhone">iPhone</keyword> 14.87 per cent and <keyword id="11148" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Motorola">Motorola</keyword> with 10.75 per cent, a new report said on Saturday. 
 According to ecommerce app Cashify, <keyword id="173725" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung-Galaxy">Samsung Galaxy</keyword> Grand Duos I9082 was the most traded phone in 2016, capturing 3.02 per cent of the resale/buyback market. 
 
"This was followed by the Moto family's most successful phone of the year, Moto G 16GB (2nd Gen), with 2.71 per cent. Apple iPhone 5s 16GB (factory unlocked) came in third with a 2.34 per cent share," the report said, while noting device-wise distribution. 
 Other players, such as the <keyword id="2210217" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="oneplus">OnePlus</keyword> One 64 GB (1.78 per cent), also made their presence felt. 
 
"With a minefield of flagship launches, the resale markpicked up pace in the last few months as the number of people queuing up to trade their old smartphones with the latest market entrants went up significantly," the report stated. 
 
With a slew of smartphone launch announcements lined up for 2017, Cashify expects the resale market to show further growth as more and more people become aware of the resale value of their old phones. 
 
Recently, Cashify ranked Delhi number one when it came to upgrading smartphones with 19 per cent of online requests generated on the ecommerce app Cashify to sell used smartphones were from the capital.
