<ul><li><keyword id="9770786" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="captain-fresh" source="Orion">Captain Fresh</keyword> announced $50 million funding in a round co-led by Tiger Global and Prosus Ventures.</li><li>Captain Fresh had raised $40 million in December 2021 at a valuation of $200 million.</li><li>Companies like Licious and FreshToHome are just a few companies that operate in the same space as Captain Fresh.</li></ul>Captain Fresh, a business-to-business (B2B) seafood and meat marketplace, has nearly doubled its valuation to half-a-billion dollars two months after its last fundraise. The company, on Monday, announced $50 million funding in a round co-led by Tiger Global and Prosus Ventures. <br /><br />The Series C round also witnessed participation from Accel India, Matrix Partners India, Ankur Capital and Incubate Fund. Several media reports suggest that the company may raise another $10 million as a part of this round. Overall, Captain Fresh has raised $100 million to date. <br /><br />The company will primarily use this capital to inorganically grow their business with the means of acquisition of other companies. <br /><br />Captain Fresh had raised <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/funding/seafood-marketplace-captain-fresh-gets-40-mn-co-led-by-tiger-global-and-prosus-ventures/articleshow/88407585.cms">$40 million</a> in December 2021, also co-led by Tiger Global and Prosus Ventures. The company was then valued at $200 million. The company’s founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Utham Gowda had then mentioned that they are looking to take Captain Fresh to overseas markers like the US and Europe. <br /><br />He had also mentioned that the company’s annualised revenue run rate (ARR) was at around $50 million. ARR is a projection of the upcoming revenue based on what the company has clocked during their best performing month.<br /><br />Captain Fresh was founded in 2019 and it currently has a distribution network in around 20 cities with more than 2,000 retail businesses. The company has previously mentioned that they plan to expand to 100 cities in the next year, while focusing on the international markets. The company believes that the recent series of capital infusion can help it strengthen its technology stack and hire more workforce.<br /><br />The company’s CEO has previously been associated with brands like Tata Strategic Management Group, Kriscore Financial Advisors Private Limited and O3 Capital. <p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Freetrade</span></p><p class="caption">Adam Dodds, founder and CEO of Freetrade.</p></div><p></p></div></div></p><ul class="summary-list"><li><strong>British fintech Freetrade, the UK's answer to Robinhood, is set to raise £1 million ($1.3 million) in crowdfunding from its members on Thursday. </strong></li><li><strong>It's the fee-free stockbroker's fourth funding round to date with this latest financing going towards building its engineering teams as it looks to further break into the European market. </strong></li><li><strong>The company has 100,000 on its waiting list and says it's growing at 12% per week. </strong></li><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/">Go to Business Insider for more stories. </a></li></ul><p>The UK's answer to Robinhood has big plans. </p><p>Freetrade, a London app-based stockbroker, is riding on the coattails of US company Robinhood - the US zero-fee investing platform with more than 6 million users that CNBC says aims to disrupt banking and "<a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/11/ahead-of-ipo-buzz-robinhood-introduces-new-premium-trading-features.html">become a millennial investor's one-stop shop</a>."</p><p>London-based Freetrade will launch crowdfunding on Thursday, looking to raise £1 million ($1.3 million), with the possibility of raising up to £4 million.</p><p>It's the next step in what the company says is it's 12%-per-week growth, saying it has 100,000 people on its waiting list after debuting late last year. It's Freetrade's fourth funding round to-date with no private equity or VC money involved - all of its financing is crowdfunded.</p><p>Fee-free stockbroking has exploded in the US with Robinhood - which looks set to IPO this year - gaining major support amongst millennials. Freetrade is looking to do the same in Europe. It's latest funding will go towards building out its product offering, such as offering fractional shares of equities (buying, say, a £30 portion of a share of Facebook), and boosting its European presence, founder Adam Dodds told Business Insider in an interview. </p><div><div id=":cv"><div id=":164"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div>"We've seen that our community is very keen to back the business," Dodds said. "We've relied on word of mouth so far but we want to spread the word louder and showcase our offering."</div><div></div><div>The company is also launching an "autopilot" feature described as being like a roboadvisor that can help maximise investments, and will hire additional engineers through the fundraising. </div><div></div><div>Freetrade operates on a model like those offered by companies such as Spotify. Customers are able to open an account free of charge and make trades but can pay more for quicker transaction speeds. The company currently offers 335 different investment options and is planning on introducing a premium "Alpha" account later this year which has a flat fee of around £7, says Dodds. </div><div></div><div>The company currently has around 25,000 customers, and 20,000 of the 100,000 on the waiting list are within the EU, Dodds said.</div><div></div><div>Freetrade launched an Android app earlier this month. </div><div></div><div>"We're the first movers in the UK and we plan to press that advantage in Europe," Dodds added. The three-year old company hopes that it will offer premium value-added services to its 10 million customer base and will drive monetization. <br /><br />Biz Analyst, launched in 2016, helps small and medium businesses to automate their daily business operations and make data-driven decisions to manage sales, inventory, outstandings and productivity. It claims to have over 80,000 users and will continue to operate as a separate brand under Khatabook. <br /><br />Biz Analyst also claims to be cash flow positive. The company’s founders Vaibhav Vasa, Mehul Sutariya, and Nilesh Zaveri will join Khatabook’s leadership team.<br /><br />“The features and strengths that Biz Analyst offers are the perfect extension to our present business portfolio. It is reminding people to pay their bills on time in the most entertaining way possible, by making the coolest ever cricketer lose his cool.<br /><br />You are lying if you say you haven’t imagined at least a 100 different scenarios in your head to smash the side-mirror of a car in front of you while driving in Bangalore or Mumbai. What helped the CRED series become so popular was the fact that for once, we saw celebrities not taking themselves seriously and it came like a breath of fresh air. It also easily broke the clutter by not featuring a cricket celebrity.<br /><br />And this year too, CRED has taken an unconventional approach. We can't wait to see what else the brand has in story for us.<br /><br />CRED has also signed a three-year deal with IPL, which began in 2020.<br />
