But more than anyone, the growth-stage partner Grady, part of Business Insider's 2024 AI Power List, has led the firm's AI strategy, making bets on companies including OpenAI, Harvey, and Hugging Face. That's good news for the company as it tries to get back to its sports roots and reinvigorate sales — and as women's basketball becomes increasingly popular.The sportswear giant announced in October that it signed a 12-year agreement with the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League to be the exclusive uniform and apparel provider for each league.The deal comes across as Nike attempts to stem a sales slowdown and save $2 billion over the next three years. Its revenue for fiscal 2024 was $51.4 billion — up only slightly compared to its 2023 numbers. The company has replaced its CEO John Donahoe; on October 14, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/new-nike-ceo-faces-challenges-nike-earnings-2024-10">Nike veteran Elliott Hill</a> returned to the company in a new role as CEO to help drive innovation and set Nike apart from sportswear competitors.While Nike started as a running brand, its business has historically been linked with basketball after a 1984 collaboration with Michael Jordan. The success of the shoes ultimately led to the Jordan Brand, which brought in approximately $6.9 billion in revenue for fiscal 2024 — about 14% of Nike's total sales.<h2 id="d6d1570b-d02c-41a1-adb9-b0586dfec404">Basketball is hot right now</h2>The new contract comes during the same year as the Paris Olympics and a record-breaking NCAA women's championship that peaked at 24.1 million viewers — the largest audience in women's college basketball history, according to data from Nielsen. The WNBA Finals averaged 1.6 million viewers on <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2024/10/the-2024-wnba-season-delivers-record-viewership-across-espn-platforms/#:~:text=WNBA%20on%20ESPN%20Viewership%20Milestones,more%20than%201%20million%20viewers.">ESPN</a>, up 115% from 2023.It also comes at a time when the WNBA said it plans to expand from 12 teams to 15 by the 2026 season. Siegel said Nike has to "win everywhere" if it wants to maintain its place as a company that's both big and special, which is difficult to do.Other speakers at Nike's October panel, which included execs and <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/nba-china-boycott-republicans-enes-kanter-freedom-adam-silver-2022-3">NBA Commissioner Adam Silver</a>, talked about the connection between basketball and lifestyle apparel. Siegel told BI that Nike "has to be everything for everyone," which means pivots between sportswear and lifestyle wear are inevitable."It's Nike's job to create demand via their product and their storytelling, and to then allocate that demand across their portfolio," Siegel said. BMO maintains a "buy" rating for Nike.While EMARKETER's Wolff said the new 12-year deal "makes perfect sense," Nike will need more than a partnership with the NBA and WNBA to pull off the comeback it's attempting.And if the company wants to beat out competitors like Adidas and New Balance, Nike will have to "protect its competitive advantage" in basketball and capitalize on fashion trends faster, Wolff said.

The following has been edited for length and clarity.I'm an investor at Calibrate Ventures, an early-stage deep-tech <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/venture-capital-us-election-data-contributions-2024-10">venture capital</a> firm.The path that led me here was somewhat unconventional. My educational background is in astrophysics, but I've also dabbled in entrepreneurship and worked in consulting.I eventually got my first <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/venture-capital-jobs-vc-recruiter-tips-interview-2024-11">VC job</a> when I was 23 years old.Though it took me about a year and a half to land my first VC role after finishing college, I'm still on the younger end of professionals in my industry. My advice for other people hoping to <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-get-job-venture-capital-no-finance-career-2024-10">get into VC</a> is to leverage your network and stay up to date on the industry.<h2 id="45740239-990a-40e5-995f-6a177e376ce5">I realized academia wasn't for me and eventually pivoted to entrepreneurship</h2>During my teen years, I was fascinated with astrophysics. In 2016, I started my undergrad at Brown University, thinking I would go on to get my Ph.D. and become a scientist.However, I realized the academic path wasn't for me when I spent my freshman year summer working with a theoretical research group and trying to code physics formulas. It helped me realize I'm more drawn to roles where I can work directly with people and see tangible results.During my senior year of college, I was interested in entrepreneurship. A friend and I had talked about <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-start-and-grow-a-business-founders-advice-2023-1">starting a company</a> one day. We brought in a third friend and did just that in our final year.We launched a mobile app that we spent the year developing. I got us into an accelerator and raised some grant capital. In the fall, we talked to a couple of VCs and even pitched <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/why-aragon-ai-founder-chose-startup-accelerator-neo-over-ycombinator">Y Combinator</a>. It wasn't a very successful venture, but it was a good learning opportunity.<h2 id="f17d28cb-e025-4dde-a7c0-b13aa110d2e2">I secured my first VC job with the help of recruiters</h2>I started working at EY-Parthenon in September 2020, after I'd graduated, as an associate consultant, assisting <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/investing/private-equity-investment">private equity</a> firms in acquiring software and tech companies. This experience provided a great foundation for thinking more about technical due diligence, tech architecture, and strategy, but moving into investing and venture capital felt like the most exciting path.While I was in that role, recruiters reached out to me. I was surprised at first, but I was excited to make the leap. My background in physics, combined with my finance experience at EY-Parthenon and two summer internships at Goldman, gave me a unique blend of technical and financial expertise that helped propel my career.I worked with recruiters to get my first VC position at a firm called MTech Capital in December 2021. I stayed there for two years, but I still had a passion for physics and aerospace I couldn't explore at the firm, which invested in fintech, insurtech, and healthtech. I spoke about this with people in my network in the Los Angeles area, and I was referred to my current role, which I started in January.I'm now an investor at <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.calibratevc.com/">Calibrate Ventures</a> focusing on deep-tech. A typical day includes taking a few pitches, checking with the team on our investment committee, and also working on developing my own role as a thought leader.Since I am early in my career, I am always looking to learn about every part of the business, so I ask a lot of questions and listen to my team, founders and mentors. I'm like a sponge.I'm on the younger end of the professionals in my industry, but after three years I don't think I'm the youngest anymore.I feel fortunate that the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/most-important-venture-capitalists-investors-in-los-angeles-2023-1">LA venture community</a> is vibrant and supportive. There are many young investors and a growing number of women in the field. I even recently moderated a panel at LA Tech Week and also launched a deep tech brunch series.Additionally, getting involved in the community and being part of different professional groups, such as Synergist Network, which is for <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/these-are-the-best-female-early-stage-investors-2024-9">women in investing</a>, is helpful in creating a sense of community and support.Even though I'm younger in the industry, I've never felt belittled — everyone has always been very respectful.<h2 id="2dc982de-9e21-4df2-91a8-35047a1c40f4">People who want a career in VC should stay up-to-date on the industry and leverage their network</h2>For those interested in a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/landed-dream-job-vc-after-offering-set-up-payroll-free-2024-10">career in VC</a>, I think the best thing you can do is stay as up-to-date on the industry as possible — whether it's through podcasts, newsletters, books, or social media.I spend a lot of my time now reading and keeping up with scientists on social media to stay ahead of rapidly emerging technologies.Even before I was in my current role, I took time to learn more about the industries I was interested in. For instance, while I was primarily focused on fintech in my first VC role, I still sought out deep tech exposure and attended a Space Investor Summit in LA, which allowed me to connect with satellite insurance companies leveraging space observation data.I also recommend leveraging your network — even if it's somebody you went to school with a couple of years ago, ask them if they have anyone they can introduce you to and just pick people's brains by asking questions about their career.If you want to be in this kind of industry, let people know what kinds of opportunities you're looking for. That way, people can let you know if they see a job posting that would be a fit for you. Having mentors through your network can also be helpful for identifying if a career path or role is right for you.I'm committed to staying in VC for the rest of my career. I pivoted into venture capital at 23 and my life has never been so exciting. Here's my advice for breaking into the industry.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Inflation has come down from pandemic highs, but one economist isn't expecting a return to 2%.</li><li>Rate cuts and other changes in the economy point to 3%+ long-term inflation, says Steven Blitz.</li></ul>For the last decade or so, the Federal Reserve's magic number for inflation has been 2%.The central bank has been aiming to keep the long-run inflation rate at this level to maintain stable prices and a healthy economy.And after the runaway prices of the pandemic era, it seems like the Fed is drawing closer to its 2% goal: the inflation rate was 2.4% for the 12-month period ending in September.However, don't count on a return to the 2% era, said Steven Blitz, chief economist at business intelligence firm GlobalData. Blitz believes the economy is on track for higher, not lower, long-term inflation."I think inflation is going to settle around 3%, 3.5%," Blitz told Business Insider in an interview. "There is now a higher base inflation rate than there was before COVID for a number of reasons."The Fed's rate-cutting campaign is certainly a contributing factor to higher future inflation, in Blitz's opinion. In the past, runaway inflation has only returned to 2% after the Fed engineered a hard landing that slowed consumer spending and wage growth, Blitz said. Financial historian <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/inflation-fed-powell-mistake-1970s-runaway-stagflation-unemployment-interest-rates-2024-10">Mark Higgins</a> points out that when the Fed cut rates too quickly in the 1960s, inflation spiked and contributed to stagflation in the 1970s.But there are other factors contributing to an increased long-term inflation rate, many of which Blitz tracked even before the pandemic.Debt levels are creeping up, generating an inflationary effect by increasing demand and prices for goods. In terms of consumer and business debt, after the Great Financial Crisis, households and businesses focused on deleveraging their balance sheets, but this trend started reversing after the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2018, Blitz said. Reduced taxes incentivized spending and also increased the national debt. A higher national debt balance can erode confidence in the dollar, further increasing inflation.Changing demographics in the workplace are also driving increasing debt and higher long-term inflation, according to Blitz.The workforce is getting younger as Gen Z employees enter the market and baby boomers and Gen X employees retire, resulting in growing spending power from Gen Z.As millennials age and gain more income, they're entering their prime homebuying years."They're in that part of their life where they normally leverage their balance sheets to take in physical assets," Blitz said. And as more millennials start families and have children, their expenditures will only continue to increase. These demographic changes will stoke consumer demand and, subsequently, inflation.And lastly, inflation is creeping up thanks to changes in international trade, Blitz said. Import penetration, or the amount of foreign goods flowing into the US, is reaching a plateau. Importing cheap goods from overseas has a disinflationary effect by decreasing prices paid by consumers.Blitz believes import penetration in the US is near or has already reached peak levels, meaning that the deflationary impacts of international trade will be muted in the future. With trends such as nearshoring and reshoring driving companies to move their operations closer to domestic markets, import penetration could certainly decline.In Blitz's perspective, all of these factors add up to an inflation rate exceeding 2% going forward.<h2 id="42586d83-d9bb-4112-b404-1a3b9311f18b">Investing for higher inflation</h2>Investors could start seeing persistent inflation take hold within the next year, according to Blitz. The September jobs report is already one early sign of sticky inflation, especially wage inflation, in his opinion.There are a few ways that investors can prepare their portfolios.In a high-interest-rate environment, bonds are less attractive, Blitz said. Bonds suffer from inflation risk because inflation eats into interest rate payments, reducing their real yield. Higher inflation also pushes up yields as investors demand higher compensation, reducing the value of the assets.Instead, look towards the stock market, he said. While increased inflation might hurt the stock market overall, there are some pockets of equities that will benefit. Technology and value stocks typically perform well in the wake of higher inflation, according to Blitz.In a high-inflation environment, companies look to put their capital into more durable investments as the dollar depreciates. Blitz believes the chip industry in particular is an inflation-resilient choice because they supply assets critical to many supply chains.High inflation can be a boon to value stocks because it boosts businesses' margins."In a lower inflation environment, it's harder to grow revenue off of the nominal growth of the economy," Blitz said. That results in outperformance from growth stocks, which investors anticipate will increase profits at a substantially higher pace relative to the rest of the market.In a 3% to 3.5% inflation environment, there's more opportunity for overlooked value stocks to appreciate. High-quality value stocks with stable margins will actually receive a lift from rising prices, especially if they have good cost management, Blitz said.Those looking to increase their exposure to these areas of the stock market can do so through funds such as the iShares Semiconductor ETF (<a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/ishares-semiconductor-etf-us4642875235?miRedirects=1">SOXX</a>) and the Vanguard Value Index Fund ETF (<a target="_blank" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/etfs/vanguard-value-index-fund-etf-shares-us9229087443?miRedirects=1">VTV</a>).

Why inflation isn't returning to pre-pandemic levels — and 3 trades to capitalize on an overheating economy

The department for promotion of industry and internal trade (<keyword id="19952901" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="DPIIT" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="DPIIT" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="DPIIT">DPIIT</keyword>) on Monday asked <keyword id="19957196" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="white-goods" source="keywords">white goods</keyword> manufacturers to participate in large numbers to avail fiscal benefits under the <keyword id="19952889" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="production-linked-incentive" source="keywords">production linked incentive</keyword> scheme for the sector as the response has been muted so far. Additional Secretary in the DPIIT Rajeev Singh Thakur said that the department has again reopened the application window for the PLI (production linked incentive) scheme for white goods (<keyword id="20360726" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ACs" source="keywords">ACs</keyword> and LED lights). The application window is open from July 15 to October 12. "In the PLI in white goods scheme, somehow the response has been muted. ...Probably due to various reasons not sufficient response has come. So I request (the industry) to have a look and probably this time, you can consider (applying)," Thakur said at the CII Consumer Electronics and Durables Summit 2024 here. So far, 66 applicants with committed investment of Rs 6,962 crore have been selected as beneficiaries under the PLI scheme. The Union Cabinet had given approval for the PLI scheme for white goods for <keyword id="19914449" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="manufacturing" source="keywords">manufacturing</keyword> of components and sub-assemblies of Air Conditioners (ACs) and LED lights on April 7, 2021. The scheme is to be implemented over a seven-year period, from 2021-22 to 2028-29, and has an outlay of Rs 6,238 crore. He added that the department can hold talks with the industry separately on issues like quality control orders and logistics. Thakur told the industry that the time is right to increase investments into the country as the government has enhanced its capex and taken steps to promote <keyword id="19996629" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ease-of-doing-business" source="keywords">ease of doing business</keyword>. The public capex in the last 10 years is growing at a fast pace in areas like highways, expressway, ports, airports and railways, but the commensurate response of the private sector "somehow is not up to the expectation", he said. Earlier speaking at the event, DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia said that a lot of steps have been taken to promote ease of doing business, cutting down compliance burden and decriminalisation of minor offences. The government has also recently approved 12 industrial townships and the industry can look at investing there. He added that capital availability is not an issue now and the government has also provided protection to the industry from predatory imports. Schemes like PLI and semiconductor mission have been rolled out to promote manufacturing and "now we want the industry" to ensure that they have necessary collaborations in place for technology and investments. The industry should do collaborations not only to target the domestic market but also become part of global value chains. "That is an expectation we are having from the entire industry and I think industry will rise to meet these expectations... We have a huge demographic dividend and the industry should take advantage of this otherwise we will miss it," Bhatia added. He also said that there is no paucity of adequate skilled labour in the country and logistics costs too are coming down. On logistics, he cited examples of Amazon and Flipkart selling goods in the remotest part of the country. "I don't think industry should look at the current domestic demand only for collaborations. They should look at the future and export market also in addition to the domestic market," he said, adding expenditure on research and development is "abysmally" low and that needs to be enhanced. Bank of America's clients alone sold $1.3 billion in US equities last week. The bank reported that institutional selling activity was 80% higher this October than the historical average.What's the reason behind these elevated levels of security selling? The answer is <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tax-savings-strategy-offset-gains-income-loss-harvesting-morgan-stanley-2024-10">tax-loss harvesting</a>.Tax-loss harvesting has long been a strategy of Wall Street and the wealthy to reduce their tax bills. They do this by selling underperforming investments for a loss to offset capital gains taxes on other investments sold at a profit. As a result, taxes are only paid on the net profit.You can replicate this strategy in your own portfolio, too. Below are some tips and tricks on how to use it to reduce your taxes, according to Jere Doyle, estate planning strategist at BNY Wealth.<h2 id="68a94438-775f-431a-954e-0e5b2d8dcb75">How tax-loss harvesting works</h2>Investors might look to rebalance some portfolio positions as the end of the year approaches. For example, after this year's incredible runup in tech stocks, some investors might be looking to sell their positions to realize their gains and diversify their holdings.That's where tax-loss harvesting comes in. If you're selling Nvidia stock with a $10,000 gain, you can pair that with a sale of another asset with a $10,000 loss to avoid paying capital gains taxes.You can also front-load your losses, according to Doyle. If you sell one asset at a $10,000 gain and another at a $15,000 loss, you can use up to $3,000 of the loss to offset other ordinary income — and carry forward the remaining $2,000 to subsequent years.Tax-loss harvesting can be especially advantageous in today's environment, according to Doyle.The market has been experiencing heightened volatility from factors such as mega-cap earnings and the election.This environment creates big winners and losers, giving investors plenty of opportunity to recognize losses. Investors shouldn't be scared of pullbacks in a volatile market. Instead, take advantage of price dips in the market to sell losing securities and lower your tax bill.<h2 id="c83964ce-4da2-4126-a044-a3769347944b">Tax-loss harvesting tips and tricks</h2>There are a few things to consider before using a tax-loss harvesting strategy.First, investors should be aware of the wash-sale rule. The wash-sale rule states that if you sell a security at a loss and buy the same or "substantially identical" security in a 30-day timeframe before or after the sale, you cannot use the loss for income tax purposes.Sometimes, people forget about this rule. "They made the mistake of repurchasing those same assets within that 61-day period, and they lose the deductibility of loss," Doyle said.If you want to sell a security at a loss but still want exposure to a specific area of the market, you can use the proceeds of the sale to purchase a similar, but not substantially identical, asset. However, the IRS hasn't provided a clear definition of what constitutes a substantially identical asset, so investors should approach this with caution. Or, you could double down on the asset more than 30 days before selling at a loss.Another piece of advice Doyle: try to match your gains and losses.It might be tempting to record a larger loss than gain to carry it over in subsequent years, but it might not be worth taking the loss if you don't plan to use it for tax-harvesting purposes in the near future."Given the time value of money, those long-term capital gain losses lose their value over a period of time," Doyle said. A $2,000 loss today will be worth less carried over many years in the future — in that case, it would be more advantageous to just record the loss in the future. In other words, don't incur excessive losses today just to be able to use them in the future.Lastly, Doyle recommends thinking through this strategy carefully to make sure it's a good fit for your current portfolio."From an investment point of view, it may not make sense. Maybe the securities you have at a loss are going to bounce back later on. Maybe the securities you're selling at a gain have future appreciation left," Doyle said.Investors should keep in mind that tax-loss harvesting isn't a one-size-fits-all strategy — but if you do have gains and the losses to offset them, the end of the tax year might be a good time to think about implementing this plan.

Business Insider has verified her employment. The following has been edited for length and clarity.I grew up in an entrepreneurial family. My parents work at a family catering restaurant they've run for 30 years. They started a few businesses when I was a child and openly discussed the ups and downs of their businesses' operations.I knew I wanted to do something in business. I thought internships would help me figure out what.I got an internship at a local hedge fund in highschool. I worked there for two summers and one school year.I attended Florida State University and majored in finance. In 2017, my junior year of college, I had a summer financial internship at Thomson Reuters in New York.Those were formative summers for me. Through my exposure as an intern, I learned I liked working with a smaller team, where I had a lot of responsibilities and more creativity, versus a bigger investment house where everyone stays in their lane.I noticed there are ways to move up the corporate ladder at a bigger firm, but maybe not as quickly as at a younger, smaller firm.<h2 id="26c27631-144f-4aad-b290-8f95876eeb4d">Networking helped me land my job in venture capital</h2>At my high school hedge fund internship, I met Maggie Vo, now the managing general partner at Fuel Venture Capital, and got to know her well.I made a point of maintaining the relationship at college. I updated her on my progress and asked about hers.Maggie saw that I was willing to learn quickly and had the work ethic to contribute to the firm. She offered me an internship right after I graduated from college.Connecting with people in venture capital and maintaining those connections is imperative for young people. When you don't have quantitative metrics to prove your worth, industry connections can help. Reaching out meaningfully, even once a quarter, makes relationships warmer.<h2 id="d80906a1-7251-4830-9016-5b91f5bbfaab">Why I chose VC over investment banking and financial services</h2>At the time, I was considering opportunities in investment banking and financial service firms and was fielding full time offers.I chose Fuel because I would work with the investment side and directly with the founders. You don't often get exposure to both sides in a larger firm.When I joined Fuel in 2018, it was a small team of managers with one fund. I could work directly with senior leadership and access all the different parts of the business.It was also a rare opportunity to get into VC early.The typical path into VC starts with working a few years in investment banking, then a few years in a small private equity firm, and then you get a chance at VC. It can take 10 years. The alternative is to get an internship early, prove yourself, and work your way up.These days, there are more early opportunities. Some firms offer entry-level positions within the investment team, but they aren't common. Firms usually want to see that background before coming into VC.<h2 id="3b8bc890-7a6a-4da0-b3cb-bab35ee2a118">I worked my way up from intern to partner in under 7 years</h2>Fuel offered me a full time role three months after I started as an intern at 22. I then worked my way up through several more analyst roles.In the early days, I worked alongside Maggie on the investments team. I tried to absorb as much information as possible from meetings.I was working on decks, putting together due diligence packages on potential portfolio companies, and working on internal processes.I had to work harder since I didn't come to VC from the traditional investment banking path. For the first two years, I immersed myself in the industry, reading as much as possible and listening to industry podcasts.Now, I've done everything from refilling the printer to facilitating successful exits.You need to make yourself indispensable and understand every aspect of the business to thrive. Learning how to communicate effectively with everyone — founders, investors, and colleagues — was especially crucial.One easy, surefire way to move up the ranks is to know what your boss wants and, if possible, meet them there.When I first started as an intern, I also worked directly with Jeff Randsell, Fuel's founding partner. I noticed that he'd spent 25 years working his way up at Merrill Lynch. Because he'd been exposed to that cutthroat environment, I always made sure to be the last person to leave the office. He didn't say this was an expectation, but I hoped he'd recognize my hard work. I think it ultimately contributed to my getting a full time position at Fuel.<h2 id="6b480740-0c25-42a2-9afd-640b460a9dca">I shifted roles and got promoted to partner</h2>An opportunity to move on to operations arose in 2022. I never saw myself in operations because I thought it was a paperwork, back-office role. But it felt like a natural progression in my career, and I still got to work with founders and investors — now I'd understand even more about the business.Coming into the operations side, I had a good macro view of the firm I'd built up in my first four years.In this role, I work with third-party partners, run the audit process, and work directly with the tax and legal teams. I'm also involved in the investment side but with compliance. I even learned how to form a fund from the bottom up.I was promoted to partner,which was very important.<h2 id="d7507795-b2ba-4968-8b0f-430ba4120462">I've put in 110% effort to make it as a woman in VC</h2>With most jobs in finance including VC, there are fewer women at the table. You have to prove yourself and overcome implicit bias when you're a woman or a minority.I account for this by putting in 110% effort and a lot more planning and preparation to ensure I'm viewed as equal to everyone around me.Switching gears and interacting with a stressed founder and then a member of the tax team has been valuable to my career progress. The women I work with are very good at balancing many different things simultaneously. They are also observant and ask hard questions.These skills were especially useful in 2021 when founders went from capital exuberance to more scarcity. Everyone found this challenging.<h2 id="9be33f2f-2918-4b52-9330-3a9e63106dc0">VC means long hours, but it's fulfilling</h2>It's an 80 to 100-hour workweek industry. You have to enjoy the work. If not, it will be miserable.VC has turned out to be a great fit for me, and it's a career path I'm fully committed to.My entire journey has been so fulfilling with Fuel. I've seen founders' growth trajectories and how that's positively impacted all the people they employ and the generational wealth they're creating for their own families.While numbers heavily drive VC, it's also about gut instinct, relationships, and networking. You have to have intuition and move on it. It's not about waiting for direction. While you learn along the way, curiosity, and emotional intelligence are essential at the entry level.

The year 2023 has witnessed huge <keyword id="6355120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment" source="Orion">investment</keyword> by FPIs thanks to the sharp uptick in flows in December, says V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit <keyword id="6354241" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-services" source="Orion">Financial Services</keyword>. <keyword id="725142" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="fpi" source="Orion">FPI</keyword> inflows which were negative in the previous 3 months have sharply turned positive in December with total buying of Rs Rs 66134 crores. This figure includes the buying through stock exchanges and investment in the primary market. The total FPI inflows in 2023 stand at Rs 171106 crores, he said. The steady decline in <keyword id="476164" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="us-bond-yields" source="Orion">US bond yields</keyword> has caused this sudden change in the strategy of FPIs. In December, FPIs were big buyers in financial services which explains the resilience of this segment in December. FPIs also bought in sectors like <keyword id="6425437" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="autos" source="Orion">autos</keyword>, <keyword id="81793" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="capital-goods" source="Orion">capital goods</keyword> and telecom. Since 2024 is expected to witness further declines in U.S. interest rates, FPIs are likely to increase their purchases in 2024 too, particularly in the early months of 2024 in the run up to the General elections, he said.

According to the report, the frequency of the mega auctions and the auction purse were among the other points discussed. After the meeting, the Delhi-based franchise co-owner Parth Jindal said that some teams want the impact player rule because it gives a chance to the young players to play in the T20 tournament. "Some people want it because it gives a chance to young players to play in the IPL. Some people don't want it because it is detrimental to Indian cricket in terms of the development of allrounders. So it's a mixed bag. I'm on the second camp. I don't want it. I prefer the game as it is 11 versus 11, and I think allrounders are very important. And you have different players who don't bowl in the IPL or don't bat in the IPL because of this rule, which is not good for Indian cricket," Jindal was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying. "It was a good meeting. Happy to be having a discussion with the BCCI, and I think whatever will be done will be in the best interest of everyone, the fans, cricketers and stakeholders. Maybe the outcome will come in the next two weeks, maybe less or maybe more," Wadia told reporters.
