<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="12215870" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="christina-aguilera" source="Orion">Christina Aguilera</keyword> recently spoke to Insider about her forthcoming Spanish-language album.</li><li>She said the long-awaited follow-up to 2000's "Mi Reflejo" will be out "very soon."</li><li>Aguilera also discussed teaming up with SweeTARTS to find and foster young musical talent.</li></ul><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/category/christina-aguilera">Christina Aguilera</a> is on the verge of releasing her first Spanish-language <keyword id="11898471" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="music" source="Orion">music</keyword> in over 20 years.</p><p>Back in 2000, the pop legend unveiled her sophomore album "Mi Reflejo," her first (and so far only) project sung in Spanish. She's long promised fans a follow-up, but in a recent Zoom <keyword id="11905869" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="interview" source="Orion">interview</keyword> with Insider, she confirmed it will "finally be released very soon."</p><p>"I just shot the two first music videos a couple of days ago for the first single release," she revealed, noting suggestively that mid-September to mid-October is known as <a href="https://www.insider.com/this-hispanic-heritage-month-latinos-defy-tropes-celebrate-diversity-2021-9">Hispanic Heritage Month</a>.</p><p>In order to capture the most authentic sound, Aguilera made sure to work with artists immersed in the genre.</p><p>"I spent the full month of February in Miami, just being supported and surrounded by just the best Latin producers and composers and writers and musicians and producers," she said of creating the project. "It was just such an amazing, magical experience that made me fall in love with music in a new way, all over again."</p><p>However, the powerhouse vocalist clarified that fans shouldn't expect everything to land all at once.</p><p>"I came out of Miami with so much new material and things that I love," she said. "We're going to spread the music out - like six different songs released within, you know, throughout the next year. So there will be new material consistently added."</p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/elOCH3vcZFM" frameborder="0"></iframe><p>Indeed, Aguilera has actually been working on two albums simultaneously, the other sung in English.</p><p>When asked if it would continue in <a href="https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/magazine-feature/8446904/christina-aguilera-new-album-liberation-interview-cover-story-2018">the hip-hop-heavy direction of 2018's "Liberation,"</a> Aguilera said she's "still developing the sound," but agreed that Black music has always been "threaded through the bottom line" of her style.</p><p>"I feel like there's always been an R&amp;B flair, nods to soul, as well as hip-hop elements, in what I do," she told Insider. "Because it's something that I just love listening to on my personal time."</p><p>"As I get older, I'm more able to explore the core of the music that I love," she continued. "So we'll be fleshing that out for sure...I never make a record where I don't have something new and fresh to say, having gone through certain experiences, life changes."</p><p>Still, Aguilera said fans can expect what she's known for: "big vocal songs."</p><p>"But this time I'm appreciating this place where I'm at as a woman, who's had a beautiful, amazing, 20-year career," she added.</p><div type="image" title="christina aguilera sweetarts beat mixer contest" height="1999" width="2666" msid="86653162" hostid="261"></div><p>To add to her full plate, Aguilera has been taking time to find and foster young musical talent.</p><p>Fittingly, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ScjucUV8v0">the "Candyman" singer</a> teamed up with SweeTARTS to launch the <a href="https://www.makesweetbeats.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SweetBEATS</a> mixer contest, which allowed anyone to create their own beat and submit it for review. Aguilera was then tasked with choosing her favorite from a selection of 20 fan-voted finalists.</p><p>Aguilera selected a submission from a 15-year-old boy, who cited Frank Ocean and Travis Scott as influences. Then, she brought him into a virtual studio session and helped fine-tune the final recording, which was <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/6udkJqCVFZn6FeOq50unAl?referral=labelaffiliate&amp;utm_source=1100liiSm2SI&amp;utm_medium=Indie_Distrokid&amp;utm_campaign=labelaffiliatebelaffiliate">made available to stream</a> on Tuesday.</p><p>"I'm always excited about introducing new talent and opportunities to the world," she told Insider. "It's partly why <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-voice">'The Voice'</a> was so fun for me at one time, 'cause I got to work with artists, develop their craft, and give advice to people coming into the business."</p><p>"Plus," she added, "combining candy and music is a no brainer for me."</p><p>Aguilera described the final track as "playful" and "fun" with a "moody element." She also praised the contest winner for his "cool taste" and bravery.</p><p>"I definitely am going to be staying in touch with him to see where he wants to go, to hear updates and make sure he stays motivated," she said.  "It takes a lot of courage to be young and put yourself forward like that, not having any experience or training. And so I was really proud of the fact that he put himself out there. A lot of kids are too fearful to even give it a try."</p>

Christina Aguilera teases the release of her new Latin album - but fans shouldn't expect the new music all at once

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Jon Higgins is a podcaster, entertainment consultant, and freelance journalist.</li><li>Higgins was the executive assistant for "Euphoria" actor Colman Domingo for a year.</li></ul><p><em>This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Jon Higgins, the former executive assistant to "Euphoria" actor Colman Domingo at Edith Productions. It has been edited for length and clarity.</em></p><p>I've been a freelance writer for the last seven or eight years across TV and film. I do pretty well as a critic, often contributing reviews for Rotten Tomatoes. </p><p>In my second year, a friend of mine asked if I'd ever thought about writing a TV pilot. The question struck a chord with me, so I started writing pilots and dreaming up ideas. </p><p>I wanted to learn more, so in 2018 I applied and was accepted into the first iteration of the <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/hillman-grad-continues-to-amplify-bipoc-voices-with-2nd-annual-mentorship-lab-1031135723">Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab program</a>, run by Lena Waithe's production company, where I learned more about writing for TV and film. </p><p>My hunch is that the program really liked my response on the application as to why I wanted to be in the program — which was that I'm very passionate about representing Black, queer people's humanity in the media. I think that spoke to Waithe and the work she does. </p><p>I made a few friends in the Hillman Grad program, and one of my connections there told me about an opportunity to be an executive assistant at <a href="https://www.insider.com/euphoria-colman-domingo-ali-rue-season-2-episode-3-scene-breakdown-interview-2022-1">Colman Domingo</a>'s production company, <a href="https://www.edithproductions.com/team">Edith</a>. </p><p>I thought: I love what he stands for, and I love that he's openly Black and queer. I would love to work with another Black and queer individual and see what I could learn. </p><p>At this time, I'd already been a fan of Domingo. I knew his work as Victor Strand on "<a href="https://www.insider.com/category/the-walking-dead">Fear the Walking Dead</a>," and I was excited to see him as a lead in the "<a href="https://www.insider.com/candyman-details-references-to-original-movie-plot-characters-2021-8">Candyman</a>" film, which had just been announced. When Domingo won an <a href="https://www.insider.com/emmys-photos-best-moments-off-camera-didnt-see-2022-9">Emmy</a> for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for "<a href="https://www.insider.com/euphoria-season-2-fun-facts-behind-the-scenes-details-2022-2">Euphoria</a>," all I could think was that it should have come sooner.</p><p>I sent over my résumé, had a meeting with two executives at AMC and its streaming service <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/guides/streaming/amc-plus">AMC Plus</a>, then I landed the call with  Domingo and Raúl Domingo, a producer and cofounder of the company.</p><p>That all happened within a week, and then I was hired. </p><h2><strong>I learned Domingo's preferences right away</strong></h2><p>When I started working for Domingo, my job was to keep tabs on his calendar, set meetings for him, read and give feedback on scripts, and support any development projects he had.</p><p>Since he was traveling a lot but mostly on Eastern time, while I was on Pacific time, I had to constantly be on point with the hours. Domingo is very much a morning person, so he loved for all of his meetings to be in the morning. He also hates back-to-back meetings — I did my best to start his day around 8 or 9 a.m. and have him wrapped by around 4 p.m.</p><p>That being said, he loves in-person meetings — he doesn't let his stardom dictate how he interacts with others. He'd often ask me to set coffee or dinner dates with other actors so that things didn't feel so formal. </p><p>Domingo was really good about not calling me outside work hours. I'd usually get texts and emails from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific time. There were still times when I had to be up late working on things for him, like setting meetings for the next day. It didn't happen a lot, but it did happen. </p><h2><strong>As an assistant in entertainment, your life stops when your boss needs help</strong></h2><p>I've had to excuse myself at a breakfast meeting when Domingo was having flight issues. Other times, I've been at events where I've had to step away because Domingo was calling me. He might just need to ask about an email, or a contact, or where we were on a project — and as his second set of eyes, I'd be the person to call.</p><p>I was fortunate to have Domingo as a boss because a job like that can be really stressful if you're not valued at work. </p><h2><strong>I read a lot of projects for Domingo, and he trusted my opinion</strong></h2><p>There were a lot of projects that came across his desk that he just didn't have time to read or engage with, so he would say to me, "Hey, read this and let me know if this is something I should be interested in." I was basically his second set of eyes.</p><p>I once read a project for him about a queer youth and an alien donut shop. It was really interesting, but it didn't have what I felt Domingo would want in order to produce it. He took my word for it, as he did a lot of the time on projects he'd have me read.</p><h2><strong>Domingo made me feel appreciated by making sure I had time to grow my career</strong></h2><p>There were times where Domingo gave me time off to do other things, like attend panels about the industry, and he'd always encourage me to make time to do things that would grow my career. He believed in me and often told me that he couldn't wait to see what the universe did for me in my career. </p><p>I don't think people recognize how important executive assistants are in the entertainment industry. Similarly, I also don't think executive assistants usually get the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/hollywood-assistants-reveal-outrageous-demands-of-celebrity-bosses-2013-10">appreciation</a> they deserve for how much time and energy it takes to keep someone's calendar and meetings together. </p><p>Domingo wasn't a typical entertainment-industry boss. I felt really blessed to have a job where I was affirmed for how hard I was working.</p><h2><strong>I admire that Domingo is a queer Black man who helps other queer Black men</strong></h2><p>It's very rare in the entertainment industry that you see successful, marginalized people really support other marginalized, up-and-coming artists in a substantial way. </p><p>There are a lot of folks out there saying, "We love and support LGBTQ+ people, Black queer people, yada, yada," but to really say, "Hey, let's take a meeting," or "Hey, here's some funding to do this" — that's a hard thing to find. And that's exactly what I witnessed Domingo do.</p><p>He's an influential Black queer man who uses his influence to help other people like him break into the industry. One example was his work with the guys behind a YouTube series called "For the Boys" toward the end of my time as his assistant. Domingo supported their project with funds from his company, helped them build their deck to pitch the TV version of their series, helped them with their pitching, and connected them with executives to help them find even more support.</p><h2><strong>Domingo also taught me how to slow down and get things right</strong></h2><p>I worked in higher education for 10 years before I started my writing and entertainment career, and that previous role required me to do things very quickly, usually for liability reasons. I took that same rushed mentality with me into my assistant job with Domingo, and he helped me learn how to be more effective by just slowing down. </p><p>Domingo noticed how fast I was sending emails back to him and people who were reaching out to him. I think he could tell I was rushing, because I was on edge about wanting to do a good job. He started to say things to me like, "This is super important, so please take your time with it," or "Give this some time to breathe."</p><p>I think he understood I wanted to make him look good but wanted me to learn to take a breath and get my mind together before making decisions.</p><p>Now, years later, I've started to notice that when I'm working on documents, I'm slowing down to really read them. When I'm sending emails, I'm rereading the email to make sure it says what I wanted it to say. He taught me to make sure that my decisions aren't informed with hurry, and I'm grateful to him for that.</p><h2><strong>My day-to-day relationship with Domingo was comfortable, but I definitely knew my place</strong></h2><p>I was his executive assistant, but I know that Domingo saw me as a whole person. He'd chat with me about my own career, or where his career was going. </p><p>I definitely perceived a boundary between us like, "I'm still your boss, don't fuck it up," but at the same time, he left plenty of space for me to ask questions and speak freely. He wanted to be sure that when I left the company and put his company on my résumé, that I had a lot of skills and knowledge to talk about for my next opportunity. </p><p>He's always told me that if I ever needed references for anything to always put his name down first.</p><h2><strong>He was the best boss I've ever had</strong></h2><p>When I was hired in the role, I knew it would only be for a year. The role wasn't extended for logistical reasons, but I would've happily stayed longer. </p><p>I really believe that he crossed my path for a reason — I was able to learn about the entertainment industry in an empathetic environment that let me bring my whole self to work. I was 'Euphoria' star Colman Domingo's assistant for a year. Here's why he was the best boss I've ever had.

There's no vent or anything," she said before tracing the source of the cold air to her bathroom mirror.</p><p>In the second video, she removed the mirror from the wall mount to reveal a square-shaped hole in the wall directly behind it. The exposed wiring and pipes suggested that the apartment may have been abandoned mid-construction. It's really old, and nobody's been in there a while," she said. </p><p>Hartsoe said that when she contacted building management, even they were unsure about the status of the three-bedroom apartment and what the plan was for it.</p><h2>Hartsoe's friends and social-media users compared the secret-apartment discovery to a common plot in horror movies</h2><p>Two of Hartsoe's friends made brief appearances in the video series. The series, set after the events of "Avengers: Endgame," revealed several things about Monica and her family.</p><p>Fans learned that Maria founded and became the director of S.W.O.R.D.</p><p>It was also revealed that Maria was diagnosed with cancer and Monica was one of the victims of Thanos' "Infinity War" snap. Specifically, they discussed how the superheroes stacked up to villain Thanos.</p><p>Monica said that Wanda "could have taken Thanos out on her own if he hadn't initiated the blitz. Nobody else came close." </p><p>When Jimmy countered that Captain Marvel "came close," Monica's disposition changed and she didn't want to discuss the character further.</p><p>"We are not talking about her, we are talking about Wanda," she said. </p><p>Another small mention of Captain Marvel was made by S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward during episode six. While chiding Monica for being sympathetic toward Wanda, he told her that she's "become an impediment to this mission, constantly advocating on behalf of superpowered individuals."</p><p>"Yes, I know your history with Carol Danvers," he added.</p><p>In June 2021, Parris confirmed to <a href="https://variety.com/2021/awards/news/teyonah-parris-wandavision-the-marvels-1235002628/">Variety</a> that fans will learn about what caused the divide between them in the "Captain Marvel" sequel.</p><p>"Little Monica had a relationship with Carol Danvers, and we'll get to see what happens with that relationship, and how or if, it brings them to the present," Parris said.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/monica-rambeau-moment-wandavision-scarlet-witch-2021-2">Monica also developed powers of her own on the show</a>. He'd like to meet with you."</p><p>When Monica asked where she was going to meet this person, the Skrull pointed to the sky. Monica then smiled, and the scene ended.</p><p>It's unclear who the Skrull was referring to, but it's likely that the person who wants to see Monica is Nick Fury. "Minari" is spoken predominantly in Korean, meaning it does not meet the HFPA guidelines that state at least 50 percent of a movie's dialogue must be in English to compete in the Globes' best picture categories.</p><p>However, as some critics have pointed out, the movie is set in America, deals with American themes, and is produced and made by Americans.</p><p>Insider has reached out to the HFPA for comment.</p><p>The HFPA's decision follows its precedent set last year with Lulu Wang's "The Farewell," which was predominantly set in China and predominantly spoken in Mandarin, but American studios and filmmakers were behind the project and the film itself also dealt with a lot of timely American themes. It was, like "Minari" though, placed in the foreign language film category.</p><p>Wang criticized the decision against her movie last year, and again leads the charge against the Golden Globes after giving "Minari" the same treatment as her movie.</p><p>Wang tweeted: "I have not seen a more American film than 'Minari' this year. It's a story about an immigrant family, in America, pursuing the American dream. The Golden Globes is being slammed for categorizing 'Minari' as a 'foreign language film' despite its American themes

Now, there's an apparent rivalry brewing between the two.</p><p>Beynon has an Instagram feed just like that of Bilzerian. He posts photos of his beautiful wife and his 11-or-so girlfriends, as well as incredibly lavish parties in his mansion on the Australian Gold Coast.</p><p>Earlier this week, he <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3088813/I-never-wife-leash-driveway-Instagram-pic-Social-media-star-Dan-Bilzerian-attacks-Australian-tobacco-tycoon-infamous-bikini-parties-putting-partner-lead.html">posted the photo of himself </a>pulling his wife and another woman by their bikini straps while they walked on all fours. The post has since been deleted, but <a href="http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/05/18/13/28D19CA400000578-3086227-image-a-4_1431950913254.jpg">the Daily Mail grabbed a screenshot.</a></p><p>This photo on Beynon's page appears to have been taken shortly after the original. The caption reads, "I lost my leashes (bikini straps)? '50 Shades of Grey' is a nursery thyme... I'm more like a '1000 Shades of Black.'"</p><div><div><iframe src="//instagram.com/p/274ijDLcWe/embed/" width="658" height="" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></div></div><p class="embed-spacer">&#xa0;After the post was made public, the Daily Mail Australia <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3088813/I-never-wife-leash-driveway-Instagram-pic-Social-media-star-Dan-Bilzerian-attacks-Australian-tobacco-tycoon-infamous-bikini-parties-putting-partner-lead.html">received a statement</a> from Bilzerian.</p><p class="embed-spacer">"I don't know this guy personally and I'm not usually one to judge without knowing, but I will say I don't think you should have a wife and children living in a house with naked girls and partying," Bilzerian said.</p><p class="embed-spacer">Indeed, Beynon has posted photos of his four children inside the mansion, which he calls the Candyshop.</p><div><div><iframe src="//instagram.com/p/2fBwsOrccY/embed/" width="658" height="" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></div></div><p class="embed-spacer">&#xa0;<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Bilzerian didn't stop there.</span></p><p class="embed-spacer">"I also am respectful to women who treat me respectfully," he <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3088813/I-never-wife-leash-driveway-Instagram-pic-Social-media-star-Dan-Bilzerian-attacks-Australian-tobacco-tycoon-infamous-bikini-parties-putting-partner-lead.html">said</a>, "and would never put my wife on a leash in the driveway for an Instagram pic... "I've always stood for one thing, and that is having freedom, and part of that is the freedom to unapologetically be yourself."</span></p><p>After Bilzerian's comments were made public, Beynon went on an Instagram rampage, posting several photos that were apparently meant to respond to Bilzerian's statements.</p><p>"The Candyman and his biggest supporter," he wrote under the photo of him and his wife embedded below. "Haters only wish their wife [sic] back their husband 100% like my [sic] does."</p><div><div><iframe src="//instagram.com/p/23CN3MLcSx/embed/" width="658" height="" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe></div></div><p class="embed-spacer">He also <a href="https://instagram.com/p/23DaHrLcUH/">blamed "tall poppy syndrome"</a> for the hate he's been getting, while advising "anyone who has ever been bullied" to "stay strong, keep moving forward and you will overcome the adversity."</p><p class="embed-spacer">He also posted a screengrab of an email that he said was from Bilzerian, asking Beynon to come party with him in LA. Bilzerian said he never wrote it, <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3088813/I-never-wife-leash-driveway-Instagram-pic-Social-media-star-Dan-Bilzerian-attacks-Australian-tobacco-tycoon-infamous-bikini-parties-putting-partner-lead.html">according to the Daily Mail</a>, and it's since been deleted.</p><p class="embed-spacer">By this point, though, Beynon appears to have gotten over it.
