<ul class="summary-list"><li>A Georgia woman faked multiple pregnancies and was granted paid leave, Georgia officials claim. </li><li>Robin Folsom is also alleged to have written an email that claimed to be from the baby's father.</li></ul>A Georgia state employee has been indicted for allegedly faking multiple pregnancies to qualify for <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mom-got-covid-while-pregnant-says-need-federal-paid-leave-2022-1">paid leave</a>, according to state officials. Robin Folsom, 43, who worked as a communications director for Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA), is alleged to have worn a <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktok-video-woman-sneaking-bag-on-flight-pregnant-travel-hack-2021-7">"fake pregnant stomach."</a> She is also alleged to have sent an email claiming to be from the baby's father mandating that she was entitled to rest.Both claims were made in a <a href="https://oig.georgia.gov/press-releases/2022-02-14/former-agency-external-communications-director-indicted-allegedly-faking">statement</a> published by the Georgia Office of the Inspector General, who announced the indictment. Attorney General Chris Carr, <a href="https://law.georgia.gov/press-releases/2022-02-14/carr-former-gvra-employee-indicted-fulton-county-identity-fraud-false">announced</a> on February 10, that Folsom had been indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on three counts of producing False Statements and one count of Identity Fraud, following an investigation. In October 2020, Folsom informed the HR department that she was pregnant, according to the statement. Shortly after she announced the pregnancy in May 2021, her employer received an email claiming to be from the father of her child insisting that she be given time to recover. GVRA approved approximately seven weeks of paid leave — under the Family and Medical Leave Act — "that it otherwise would not have approved," the statement said. When pressed by investigators, Folsom insisted that the baby's father, named in the indictment as Bran Otmembebwe, was a real person. When officials from the Inspector General's office investigated the case, one coworker claimed they saw Folsom's stomach "fall away" from her, leading them to believe that it was fake.Colleagues claimed that she also sent pictures of her new baby but they were "inconsistent" and showed the child with varying skin tones. Folsom had previously announced giving birth to a child in July 2020 but investigators could not find any State Office records of her ever having delivered the child, per the release. She announced she was pregnant again in August 2021. Although the statement doesn't reveal when the Attorney General was made aware of the case, it said Folsom resigned in October 2021, shortly after being interviewed by investigators. Her case is being prosecuted by the Georgia Office of the Attorney General.

Ehrenberg, who heads Cornell University's Higher <keyword id="6355445" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Education">Education</keyword> Research Institute."[T]he new president and board face a very hard road because the finances are still very perilous, many of the existing students have already made plans to transfer to other institutions, and it is unlikely that they will be able to attract a large first year class," he told Busienss Insider in an email message.The deal to save the school - reached between the school's leadership, activist alumnae, and Virginia's attorney general - gives Sweet Briar at least $12 million raised by an alumnae group called "Saving Sweet Briar," as well as $16 million that will be unlocked from the college's endowment by Virginia AG Mark Herring.The agreement also stipulates that the majority of the board will step down, as will <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/sweet-briar-college-president-james-f-jones-jr-explains-why-school-is-closing-2015-3">Sweet Briar president James F. Jones</a>.While this may look like an overall win for the various parties who have been fighting to keep Sweet Briar alive, the new leadership still faces significant challenges. It is wonderful that he also has removed the restrictions that were on much of the endowment to allow more of the endowment to be used for general current operations. But the new president and board face a very hard road because the finances are still very perilous, many of the existing students have already made plans to transfer to other institutions, and it is unlikely that they will be able to attract a large first year class. Similarly some faculty have already left and given that it appears from news stories that they will not make commitments to hire faculty back until August, one might expect that they will lose some others also. I wish the institution well but I am very pessimistic about its long-run future.Sweet Briar's new leadership - which will likely be headed up by former Bridgewater College president Philip Stone - has a hard path ahead. But the lawsuits against Trump's immigration order seem to be an exception for two major reasons, Stock said. "The first is 12 months worth of statements about a 'Muslim ban.' The second is the president's habitual mistatements of facts and statistics that I really think have caused the court to look upon his claims about the national security imperative for this order with great skepticism."The Trump administration has insisted that the "extreme vetting" order signed by Trump in late January does not amount to a "Muslim ban." "There are some establishment clause cases to the contrary, but the establishment clause does not apply to actions taken abroad in relation to other nations."<h2>Recourse in a hasty rollout</h2>The speed with which the order was drafted and rolled out, largely bypassing the government's national security apparatus, may factor into the court's decision, experts say.Reports emerged in the days after the order was signed that Department of Homeland Security staff members were allowed to see the order only after Trump signed it, and National Security Council lawyers were <a href="https://twitter.com/AriMelber/status/825514236784832512" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">prevented</a> from evaluating it. The immigration order cites the September 11, 2001 terror attacks three times as justification for the ban, but the 9/11 hijackers were from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon - none of which were included on the list of banned countries.So far, the government has had difficulty proving that the seven targeted countries pose an elevated risk over others - and whether, as Stock put it, "something changed on January 20th that justified invalidating 60,000 legally issued visas."Judge Michelle T. Trump may have undermined the legal case for his immigration ban in 2 major ways

Violent death, after all, had followed Berezovsky throughout his adult life.
Berezovksy fell out of favor with the Kremlin shortly after <keyword id="43440" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Vladimir-Putin">Vladimir Putin</keyword> took power. President Boris Yeltsin stepped down in 1999, and Berezovsky, as one of Yeltsin's close advisors known as <a href="http://www.independent.ie/world-news/yeltsin-daughter-helped-plot-cabinet-sacking-26194411.html">the "Family"</a>, helped select Putin to succeed him.
It was an incredibly important decision for all of <keyword id="6358826" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Russia">Russia</keyword>'s super rich <keyword id="967282" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Oligarchs">oligarchs</keyword>. They needed someone who could hold the country for capitalism as, towards the end of the Yeltsin administration, it was unclear whether or not the Communists would come back in to power, repossess all the companies that were privatized, and ruin the party for Russia's new elite (the oligarchs).
Berezovsky thought Putin was the man for the job, but <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012/11/roman-abramovich-boris-berezovsky-feud-russia#">Vanity Fair</a> describes how their relationship soured about a year after Putin took office in 2000:
In August, a Russian nuclear submarine, the Kursk, sank off Russia’s Arctic coast; 118 men died, 28 of them likely as a result of bungled rescue efforts that the country watched unfold in real time. The tragedy became a public-relations disaster, in part because Berezovsky’s O.R.T. aired an audio recording of the president’s meeting with victims’ families, during which Putin lost his temper, lashing out at the families and at unnamed enemies. By this time, another oligarch and media magnate, Vladimir Gusinsky, had been jailed briefly and forced to leave the country—but only after signing his media assets over to a state-owned company. The same fate now seemed likely to befall Berezovsky.
In October 2000, the French newspaper Le Figaro published an interview with Putin in which he held forth on the oligarchs: “Generally, I don’t think that the State and the oligarchs are irreconcilable enemies. Rather, I think that the state is holding a big club in its hands, which it will use only once. To deliver a crushing blow on the head. We haven’t yet resorted to that club. We just picked it up—and that was enough to attract public attention. But if we get really angry, we will not hesitate to use it.”
Berezovsky read this interview at his vacation home in Cap d’Antibes, France. He took it as a direct threat—confirmed by a summons to present himself for interrogation—and decided not to return to Moscow. He has lived in exile ever since.
So Berezovsky lived to regret his role as King-maker. He used his estimated $3 billion fortune to bring down the Putin regime from his new home in London. <a href="http://www.rferl.org/content/article/1066222.html">He even admitted that openly to Reuters in 2006, </a>which prompted the British government to ask him to stop meddling in Russian affairs.
It was essentially a request for him to save his own life, as it was around this time that people with connections to Berezovsky started winding up dead.
The most famous of these mysterious deaths is the case of Russian spy, anti-Putin activist, and former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko. <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/9951385/Berezovsky-did-not-kill-himself-Litvinenkos-wife-says.html">In 2006 he was poisoned when radioactive polonium 210 was slipped into his tea.</a> U.S. and British officials had <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20061126112245/http://www.hpa.org.uk/hpa/news/articles/press_releases/2006/241106_litvinenko.htm">never seen anything like it.</a><a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/9951385/Berezovsky-did-not-kill-himself-Litvinenkos-wife-says.html"> </a>
Litvinenko's wife, for what it's worth, told the Telegraph she does not believe Berezovsky killed himself, despite his depressed state at the end of his life.

"From my point of view it is not likely that he committed suicide," she said. "He had a lot of enemies. He was an outspoken person and never tried to hide what he thought.
"When I talked to him last he was a little recovered and I believed he would be better. He started to take interest and to ask about my son."
Another former KGB officer who met with with Litvinenko the day he was poisoned, Dmitry Kovtun, was also hospitalized after their meeting and had traces of polonium 210 in his system. Kotvun insisted Litvinenko poisoned him.
Then there's Yego Gaidar, a Russian economist that helped carry out the "loans for shares" program that made Berezovsky and other Russian oligarchs so rich. He was a Yeltsin man. The day after Litvinenko was poisoned, <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8415441.stm">he collapsed on a book tour</a> and said he was poisoned as well. He died three years later of a blood clot.
Finally, Berezovsky's busienss partner Badri Patarkatsishvili was died in 2008. Patarkatsishvili was part of whatever deal Berezovsky made with Abramovich in 2004. Reports say that he died of a heart attack, but there are doubts.

Even if a post mortem reveals Patarkatsishvili died from a heart attack, if there is no evidence of long-term heart disease police inquiries are likely to continue. This is because a number of compounds known to be used by the former KGB can induce heart failure, but leave virtually no trace. One is sodium fluoroacetate, a fine white powder derived from pesticide.
It causes irregular heartbeat and breathing difficulties before a fatal heart attack. Patarkatsishvili had difficulty breathing a few hours before he died and left a meeting to go outside for fresh air.
In 2007 Scotland Yard intercepted a plot to kill Berezovsky in London and kicked the suspected hit man out of the UK.
