Lucknow May 7 () Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday stressed upon the importance of self-discipline during the epidemic and urged everyone to adhere to it forever."Society is the real companion during crisis and by helping each other, solution could be found for the biggest of problems. Self discipline is most important during these times of epidemic and we need to adopt it forever," Adityanath said during a video-conference Buddhist monks on the occasion of Buddha Purnima."Everyone is well aware of the sensitivity of the global epidemic of the coronavirus. Unless there is a vaccine or a drug for treatment to prevent this epidemic, there are only two measures to control it – the lockdown and social distancing," he said.The chief minister said the whole world today is affected by coronavirus. With many powerful countries, including the USA feeling helpless."Many powerful countries, including America, are feeling helpless during this epidemic. Due to the timely and visionary decisions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has been able to prevent the spread of the corona infection," he said. Adityanath said India, the land of Buddha, has been able to protect itself, despite 2.5 lakh people having died so far across the world.He said the prime minister has announced 'Garib Kalayan' scheme, under which 80 crore people are getting various benefits of government schemes."Arrangements have been made for providing food grains and maintenance allowance to the poor at state government level," he said. Talking of the state government efforts in bringing state natives, stuck up elsewhere in the country, back to their homes, Adityanath said, "The government has succeeded in bringing back seven lakh labourers to Uttar Pradesh since March 1. From May 4, the government has made provisions to bring workers living in other states by 46 trains and this process is continuing."The state government has also succeeded in sending students to their homes from Kota in Rajasthan and Allahabad, he added.He said that the government has also built shelter homes for the workers returning from other states.Talking of ramping up anti-Covid healthcare structure in the state, he said the government has prepared 50,000 beds in hospitals to fight the pandemic.Its number will reach one lakh by May end, he added.While speaking to the chief minister, the International Buddhist Research Institute's president Bhadant Shanti Mitra said during this global epidemic, we should help the government in all possible ways by building unity at our level.Other Buddhist monks too shared their thoughts with the chief minister on the occasion. Mumbai, May 7 () Equity indices ended lower after range-bound trade on Thursday as risk-off mood took hold amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the country. Strong selling in banking, financials and consumption stocks weighed on the benchmarks, despite positive global cues, traders said. The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 242.37 points or 0.76 per cent to close at 31,443.38. The broader NSE Nifty slipped 71.85 points, or 0.78 per cent, to 9,199.05. ONGC was the top loser in the Sensex pack, slumping 4.54 per cent, followed by NTPC, Kotak Bank, Bharti Airtel, Titan and Bajaj Auto. Index heavyweights HDFC Bank and HDFC slipped up to 2.26 per cent, accounting for most of the benchmark's losses. Only five Sensex constituents finished in the green -- IndusInd Bank, M&amp;M, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and Tech Mahindra, spurting up to 6.58 per cent. "Markets traded dull and settled with a cut of over half a per cent amid mixed cues. In line with the benchmark, it was a muted session on the sectoral front too and the majority ended in the red. However, movement on the stock-specific kept the participants busy. "The recent surge in COVID-19 cases in India and the unending wait of the stimulus package has started taking a toll on the investors' sentiment. Besides, subdued earnings announcements are adding to the worries," said Ajit Mishra, VP - Research, Religare Broking Ltd. Meanwhile, GSK sold its 5.7 per cent stake in FMCG major HUL for around Rs 25,480 crore -- reportedly the largest secondary trade on Indian stock exchanges. Sectorally, BSE power, utilities, consumer durables, telecom, capital goods, FMCG and finance indices shed up to 2.47 per cent, while the energy index closed with gains. Broader BSE midcap and smallcap indices fell up to 0.53 per cent. World equities were buoyed by stronger-than-expected Chinese exports data, though the coronavirus pandemic and US-China tensions remained an overhang. Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul ended in the red, while Seoul closed with gains. Stock exchanges in Europe were trading higher in early deals. International oil benchmark Brent crude futures rallied 4.98 per cent to USD 31.20 per barrel. The forex market in India was shut on account of 'Buddha Purnima'. The number of coronavirus cases in India climbed to 52,952, while the death toll rose to 1,783, according to the health ministry. Mumbai, May 8 () The rupee appreciated by 18 paise to settle at 75.54 against the US dollar on Friday, tracking higher domestic equities and weakness in the American currency.Forex traders said positive cues from domestic equities and significant foreign fund inflows supported the local unit.At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened higher at 75.36 but pared some initial gains to close at 75.54 against the US dollar, registering a rise of 18 paise over its previous close.Forex market was closed on Thursday on account of Buddha Purnima.Foreign institutional investors were net buyers in the capital market, as they bought equity shares worth Rs 19,056.49 crore on Thursday, according to provisional exchange data.Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.05 per cent down at 99.84. "Indian rupee opened on a strong note tracking overnight losses in the dollar index and gains in Asian currencies, buoyed by the positive trade dialogue between the US and China. However, the rupee retreated due to shaky sentiments in the market ahead of key jobs report from the US," said Sugandha Sachdeva, VP-Metals, Energy &amp; Currency Research, Religare Broking.Going ahead, the domestic currency will take further cues from the developments about the COVID-19 crisis, as well the key US data where expectations point towards staggering job losses of around 22 million, Sachdeva said. According to Gaurang Somaiyaa, Forex &amp; Bullion Analyst, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, "on the domestic front, the focus will be inflation and industrial production number that is expected to disappoint and thereby keep the currency under pressure. For the next couple of sessions, we expect the rupee (Spot) to quote in the range of 75.20 and 76.20." Traders said market participants are also awaiting the next round of stimulus from the government to cushion the economic damage inflicted by the COVID-19 crisis.Meanwhile, Brent crude futures rose 0.68 per cent to USD 29.66 per barrel. Traders further said investor sentiment remains fragile amid concerns over the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the domestic as well as the global economy.In India, the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 1,886 and the number of cases climbed to 56,342 on Friday, according to the health ministry.The number of cases around the world linked to the disease has crossed over 38.62 lakh and the death toll has topped 2.69 lakh.The Financial Benchmark India Private Ltd (FBIL) set the reference rate for the rupee/dollar at 75.6911 and for rupee/euro at 81.9765. India's favourite 'silent superstar' was diagnosed in March 2018. A neuroendocrine tumour (NET), simply put, is an umbrella term for a class of rare cancers. Not only is it difficult to diagnose, but it's also slow-growing and complex. Neuroendocrine cells are found all over the body — especially in the small bowel, pancreas, stomach, the adrenal gland, lungs and thyroid. As and when these cells receive signals from the nervous system, they release the corresponding hormones. <div type="image" title="neotumourUCMed" msid="75447424" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Here&amp;#39;s where neuroendocrine cells are found in the body&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> A neuroendocrine tumour is a tumour that forms within those cells. More and more people are being diagnosed with NET — just not soon enough NET isn't understood very well and it can often be anywhere between five to seven years before a conclusive diagnosis is revealed. More than half the people suffer from late detection of the condition, according to the Neuroendocrine Tumour Research Foundation (<a href="https://netrf.org/for-patients/">NETRF</a>). Even so, it's not something that the common person will be familiar with until they're actually diagnosed. The tumours can occur almost anywhere in the body and don't differentiate between gender and age. NET symptoms disguise themselves Symptoms of NET often mimic other common ailments — like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), asthma, flushing or redding of the skin, and unexplained anxiety. Rishit Parikh, Nomura’s IT services and software analyst, believes that Tech Mahindra’s massive correction ignores some key elements. "We think the stock price ignores positives from higher exposure to telecom, two mega-deals in the second half of the financial year, and improved positioning in the enterprise business," he said. Tech Mahindra’s exposure to telecom accounts for 43% of its revenues, where the outlook is stable as per Gartner. KPMG has also forecast that telecom is the one sector for which the lockdown may be a boon rather than a bane. "While we don’t rule out delays in 5G-related contracts as clients conserve cash, we expect the recovery to be equally sharp," said Parikh. More deals, more money In addition to telecom, Tech Mahindra’s two mega-deals — with AT&amp;T and Jackson National Life Insurance — are expected to add to the company’s dollar revenue growth by nearly 2.5% despite any delay in ramp-ups, according to Nomura. That increase has been driven by its digital business, which includes new mergers and acquisitions as well as the company’s push on cloud and analytics, the report added. Over the last six quarters, the company has scored around $450 million in average deals — which excludes large deal wins — which is a 50% increase over its earlier average. Tech Mahindra’s revenue growth might take a hit due to the coronavirus pandemic but it’s in a position to drive business back up. "We forecast a 3% decline in dollar revenues in FY21 and a 9% growth in FY22," said Nomura’s report.
