But a number of details that have drawn attention — and sometimes outrage — on social media or in the <keyword id="11893589" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="news" source="Orion">news</keyword> over the past year never made it into the courtroom.Rittenhouse, now 18, was found not guilty on Friday of fatally shooting Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, as well as injuring Gaige Grosskreutz, amid civil unrest in <keyword id="11899149" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="kenosha" source="Orion">Kenosha</keyword> in August 2020. Rittenhouse pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him, and <a href="https://www.insider.com/kyle-rittenhouse-testifies-homicide-trial-kenosha-2021-11">testified that he shot the men in self-defense</a> after they attacked him.Jurors in the Rittenhouse trial deliberated for over three days before acquitting him of all five felony charges he faced. Had they convicted him, Rittenhouse could have received a life sentence.Judges in criminal trials tightly control what juries do and don't hear, barring any information they deem irrelevant, unfair, confusing, misleading, or hearsay. To help boost their cases, prosecutors and defense attorneys often spend a great deal of time and effort arguing why certain details should be included or excluded at trial.Here are six pieces of information about Rittenhouse and the Kenosha shootings that made headlines, but were not deemed appropriate for the jury to consider once they deliberated Rittenhouse's fate following closing arguments Monday.<h2>Unflattering videos of Rittenhouse</h2><a href="https://www.insider.com/prosecutors-say-kyle-rittenhouse-video-shows-wanted-to-shoot-people-2021-8">Prosecutors wanted to present two videos taken of Rittenhouse</a> in the weeks leading up to the shooting, arguing that they provided "crucial insight" into the teenager's state of mind in summer 2020. Kenosha County Circuit <a href="https://www.insider.com/kyle-rittenhouse-judge-bruce-schroeder-polarizing-figure-at-trial-2021-11">Judge Bruce Schroeder</a> disagreed in both instances.One of the videos, which circulated widely on social media, showed Rittenhouse punching a girl from behind. Another video, filmed across the street from a CVS Pharmacy, showed hooded people rushing out of the store clutching items. Rittenhouse's voice could be heard saying, "Bro, I wish I had my fucking AR. I'd start shooting rounds at them."Prosecutors argued at the time that the CVS video showed Rittenhouse "fervently sought to insert himself as an armed vigilante into situations that had nothing to do with him." But Schroeder said Rittenhouse's actions in the videos couldn't reasonably be compared to the situation he faced in Kenosha on August 25, 2020.<h2>The criminal records of Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz</h2>All three men shot by Rittenhouse had criminal records, though the jury remained unaware of most of them throughout the trial. In September, Schroeder denied a motion from Rittenhouse's defense attorneys to bring up Rosenbaum's criminal history at trial. The defense had wanted to argue that Rosenbaum was trying to steal Rittenhouse's gun, since Rosenbaum's status as a felon prevented him from buying one legally. (Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shootings and had a friend purchase an AR-15 for him, had been charged with one count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18; Schroeder <a href="https://www.insider.com/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-judge-dismisses-weapons-charge-2021-11">dismissed that charge</a> on Monday.) <div type="image" title="kyle rittenhouse trial thomas binger mark richards" height="1580" width="2000" msid="87726235" hostid="261"></div>Rosenbaum spent roughly 15 years in prison in his early adulthood, according to Arizona prison records. <a href="https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/09/11/rittenhouse-victims-records/">Court</a> <a href="https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/03/11/joseph-rosenbaum-sex-offender/">documents</a> showed that Rosenbaum was accused of sexually abusing five pre-teen boys in 2002, was indicted on 11 counts of child molestation, and eventually pleaded guilty to two amended counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger argued that some of Rittenhouse's supporters online had appeared thankful that Rittenhouse fatally shot a convicted sex offender."We don't want the jury to decide this was justified because he got a pedophile off the streets," Binger said.Huber pleaded guilty in 2013 to two felony counts of strangulation and suffocation, and false imprisonment, court records showed. According to a criminal complaint, Rittenhouse's defense attorneys cited without the jury present, Huber had pulled a knife on his brother and grandmother, and choked his brother amid an argument about housecleaning. Kenosha County jail records show that Huber spent a little over four months behind bars and was released on probation.Grosskreutz confirmed on the witness stand that he had previously been convicted of a <keyword id="11893298" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="crime" source="Orion">crime</keyword>, but did not tell the jury what it was. Wisconsin court records show he pleaded guilty in 2016 to one misdemeanor count of being armed while intoxicated.<h2>Photos showing Rittenhouse at a pub with Proud Boys members</h2>Prosecutors also wanted to show <a href="https://www.insider.com/kyle-rittenhouse-bond-conditions-modified-after-spotted-at-bar-2021-1">photos of Rittenhouse posing with members of the Proud Boys</a> in a Wisconsin pub shortly after he had been released on bond. In the photos, Rittenhouse could be seen wearing a shirt that said "Free as Fuck" and flashing an "OK" hand gesture, which prosecutors noted was commonly used to signify "white power." Defense attorneys responded that Rittenhouse hadn't known the men, or known what the OK hand signal meant. They also noted that prosecutors had scoured Rittenhouse's entire social media history and cellphone records, but found no evidence of links to extremist or white supremacist groups. Schroeder sided with the defense, and said Rittenhouse's interactions with the men at the pub had nothing to do with his actions on the night of the Kenosha shootings.<h2>Details about Huber's personality and history</h2>Though Grosskreutz was able to tell the jury he ran after Rittenhouse that night because he believed the teenager was an active shooter, Huber's exact motivations for chasing the teenager and hitting him with a skateboard remain unknown. Prosecutors sought to answer that question by calling Huber's great aunt, Susan Hughes, to the witness stand to tell the jury about occasions where Huber had acted heroically. But Rittenhouse's attorneys objected when Hughes said she'd seen her grand-nephew run towards danger. The defense said if prosecutors portrayed Huber as "peaceful," then they would introduce evidence of his previous criminal conduct. At one point, Rittenhouse's attorney, Corey Chirafisi, read from a criminal complaint alleging that Huber had once held a six-inch butcher knife to his brother's throat, ear, and stomach.<div type="image" title="gaige grosskreutz kyle rittenhouse" height="1333" width="2000" msid="87726237" hostid="261"></div>"Mr. Huber told his brother that if he didn't start cleaning a room in the house, he was going to gut him like a pig," Chirafisi said, reading from the complaint. "Mr. Huber told his brother that if he stopped cleaning, he would kill him."Though Schroeder didn't ban Hughes' testimony about Huber's supposed heroics, he said defense attorneys would be able to bring up Huber's criminal history if prosecutors pursued their line of questioning. Prosecutors opted to cut Hughes' testimony short instead.<h2>Rosenbaum's psychiatric care in the days before the shooting</h2>The jury heard only select details about Rosenbaum's mental state before the shootings. Rosenbaum had been released from the hospital just hours before the Kenosha shootings, where he had been under psychiatric care following a suicide attempt.Rittenhouse's attorneys sought to portray Rosenbaum as unstable and violent in the hours and minutes leading up to the shootings. A number of witnesses — both for the prosecution and the defense — testified that they had seen Rosenbaum acting "belligerently" or "erratically." At various points, the witnesses said, Rosenbaum <a href="https://www.insider.com/witness-says-joseph-rosenbaum-threatened-to-kill-him-and-rittenhouse-2021-11">verbally threatened Rittenhouse and others</a>, confronted people, set fires, shouted the N-word, and wielded a chain.Though the defense was permitted to question Rosenbaum's fiancée, Kariann Swart, about the medications he had been taking for bipolar disorder, Schroeder did not allow them to ask Swart in front of the jury about why Rosenbaum had been hospitalized in the first place.<h2>Expert testimony about whether Rittenhouse reasonably feared for his life</h2>Rittenhouse's defense attorneys called upon a use-of-force expert to testify about his analysis of the shootings. Though John Black showed the jury slowed-down videos of each incident and <a href="https://www.insider.com/defense-expert-kyle-rittenhouse-shootings-1-minute-20-seconds-2021-11">emphasized how quickly the chaos escalated that night</a>, he was unable to testify about his opinions regarding the threats he believed Rittenhouse may have faced.Prosecutors and Rittenhouse's attorney struck a deal where Black would limit his testimony mainly to the timeline of the events, rather than the reasonableness of Rittenhouse's actions. For their part, prosecutors agreed not to call a different use-of-force expert to support their arguments.At a pre-trial hearing, <a href="https://www.insider.com/kyle-rittenhouse-use-of-force-expert-previews-kenosha-shooters-defense-2021-10">Black had offered a moment-by-moment breakdown</a> of Rittenhouse's, Rosenbaum's, Huber's, and Grosskreutz's actions. He described why he believed Rittenhouse had reason to fear that the men could either assault him or take his gun and use it against him."A citizen in that position, given those indicators — would it be reasonable to believe they were about to be assaulted? I would argue yes," Black said, referring to Rittenhouse's reaction to Grosskreutz, who approached the teenager while wielding a handgun. "I would try to put in some flow, just a paragraph to get it going, and then I realized..." Brewer paused. "It just felt wack." Thankfully, Brewer stopped himself, and instead gave us one of the most unlikely Academy Award wins in the show's history.Brewer's "Hustle &amp; Flow" came out of nowhere in 2005 to become one of the most memorable indies of the year. The journey of a Memphis pimp named Djay (Terrence Howard) who aspires to become a rapper quickly became a must-see for hip-hop fans and cinephiles alike.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>The movie was championed by "Boyz n the Hood" director John Singleton, who came on as a producer, and launched the careers of Howard and Taraji P. Henson (who plays a pregnant prostitute with an incredible voice). It also paved the way for "Dirty South" rap, which was just beginning to hit the mainstream, giving the film an underdog sensibility as it made its way to the Oscars in 2006.This year's Oscars marks the 10th anniversary of when the film's lead track, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," written by the Memphis group Three 6 Mafia, won the award for best song - the first time a rap group ever won the prize.Business Insider talked to some of the people behind the song and movie to uncover how it was created and&#xa0;what its win, which was considered a shock at the time, means now.<h2>Searching for the music</h2>Around the time of Craig Brewer's failed attempt to come up with rap lyrics, in the early 2000s, he was making the rounds in Hollywood, script in hand, trying to find financing for "Hustle &amp; Flow." Brewer always planned to showcase Memphis rap in the movie, but as he recalled to BI, in those early meetings, the executives would throw out more commercial names like Nelly, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg."I think they knew about five rap songs," Brewer said of the Hollywood suits. "They would say, 'You need to get this guy Nelly,' and they would also say&#xa0;Sisqó - I think 'The Thong Song' was out at that time."Thankfully, Brewer found a savior in Singleton, who came on as a producer and financier in 2003, and also had knowledge of the Memphis rap scene, as he'd featured a Three 6 Mafia song in his 2001 movie "Baby Boy."<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Even before production began, Brewer and Singleton were planning out the songs for the movie, especially one showcasing Djay's life."John kept saying, 'We need a song that shows how difficult it is to be a pimp,'" Brewer said. "But we also wanted to articulate the absurdity of that, because it's an outrageous idea. I mean, really, how hard is their life?"Brewer drove that home in the scene in which Djay comes up with lyrics for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," while&#xa0;walking with his friend Key (Anthony Anderson), who is struggling to carry an air conditioner. Djay never offers to help.Brewer and Singleton were still in search of the key song for the movie when they paid Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J for the song "Pop It for Some Paper." The two also signed on another Memphis rapper, Al Kapone, to write a few more tracks&#xa0;for the movie, including one&#xa0;performed by Djay on screen, "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-StMfE8NrA" target="_blank">Whoop That Trick.</a>"Then during preproduction, Brewer and Singleton visited Three 6 Mafia's studio, Hypnotize Minds Camp, to check on how Howard was doing recording "Pop It for Some Paper" (which Howard would end up <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye-GPGstKFc" target="_blank">doing a cappella in the movie</a>). And there, music history was made.<h2>Creating the song</h2>Three 6 Mafia were already legends in the Memphis rap scene before "Hustle &amp; Flow." Members Juicy J, DJ Paul, and Lord Infamous (who died in 2013) had their own record company in the early 1990s, and sold their early albums in and around Memphis as either Backyard Posse or Triple 6 Mafia. They later signed&#xa0;with Sony, changed their name to Three 6 Mafia, and expanded the group, which at the time of "Hustle &amp; Flow" included rappers Frayser Boy and Crunchy Black.Brewer&#xa0;had met Juicy J in Memphis&#xa0;years earlier, and when Howard agreed to play Djay, the writer-director had the actor meet the rapper, which led to a mixed encounter.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>"I got a call from Juicy, and I knew Terrence was hanging out with Three 6 Mafia, so I asked how it was going, and he said, 'Man, he left.' I was like, 'What do you mean he left?'" Brewer remembers.Brewer tracked down Howard back at his hotel and found he wasn't getting a good vibe hanging out with the group at Hypnotize Minds Camp."You know, their studio is right next to the jail," Singleton points out."I realized what was happening," Brewer said. "Terrence was standing in front of Memphis rappers and he was going to have to play one. That's a real intimidating experience."Brewer went back to Juicy J and explained the pressure Terrence was under. Juicy J understood what he had to do. That evening, he showed up at Howard's hotel with a bottle of Cristal and no entourage."The next time I talked to Terrence, he had the Memphis accent down. He transformed," Brewer said. "That was all because of Juicy. That's producing - get your talent comfortable."<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div> Weeks later, when Brewer and Singleton&#xa0;arrived&#xa0;for the "Pop It for Some Paper" recording, Juicy J was in another producing mode: hustling."Juicy felt the deal that John gave him for 'Pop It for Some Paper' wasn't right," Brewer said.When everyone got settled in the studio, Juicy J said to Singleton, "It's really too bad you're not f-----g with us on that pimp song," referring to the song Brewer and Singleton were searching for that would highlight Djay's struggle."Well, you know, business," Singleton answered."Yeah, but listen to this business," Juicy J said, then hit the space bar of his laptop to reveal the beat he and DJ Paul came up with for what would become "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp.""And Juicy pulls out a napkin where he wrote the hook," Brewer explains. "And he tells us, 'Yeah, I was going to have the pregnant ho sing:'You know it's hard out here for a pimp / When he tryin' to get this money for the rent / For the Cadillacs and gas money spent / Will have a whole lot of b-----s jumpin' ship.'"Brewer said Singleton's face lit up with excitement."But you gotta get deeper in the pocket a little more John," Juicy J told Singleton. "Because I'm not gonna give this to you for free."That's when Singleton went into producer mode.&#xa0;He had Henson, who was also in the studio, go into another booth to record the hook Juicy just sang. And then Singleton and Brewer sat with Fayser Boy&#xa0;to talk about the focus of the song."The first thing that popped in my head was 'it's hard out here for a pimp,'" Frayser Boy told BI. "John looked at me and goes, 'What did you say?' And I said, 'It's hard out here for a pimp, that needs to be the name of the song,' and he just looked at me and said, 'That's it!'""So I go in this other room with Frayser," Brewer said. "He cuts up a cigar, dumps out the tobacco, rolls a blunt, and starts writing what later we know to be an Academy Award-winning song.""We got this term in Memphis called pimpin', something that's old-school, and it already had that pimpin' flavor, so it was easy to write," Frayser Boy said. "It took me only 30 minutes to write both verses."<div></div>Going out for air, Brewer came across Singleton and Juicy J chatting in the lobby."They are talking about what club they are going to that night, but then John would look at his Sidekick," Brewer said, "and he would type something, and then Juicy's would ding. 'Oh, that's what you want, huh?' Juicy would say out loud."Brewer realized the two were negotiating the terms of "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" via their phones."So from the moment that Juicy played that beat on what would be 'It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp,' the song was written, produced, recorded, and negotiated maybe within three to four hours," Brewer said.<h2>A historic Oscar night with behind-the-scenes uneasiness</h2>The conventional thinking before the 2006 Oscars was laid out by a&#xa0;<a href="http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/59507/three-6-mafia-ready-to-make-oscar-history" target="_blank">Billboard story</a>: "Most predict Dolly Parton's 'Travelin' Thru' from 'Transamerica' will claim best song..."The biggest musician to sing in a movie usually walks away with the statue&#xa0;(think Céline Dion for "Titanic").&#xa0;But Brewer and Singleton felt they had the ace card this year: a song that was the movie."Whatever people think about rap music, when they watch these characters struggle to make a song, then it becomes the audience's song, and that's what happened with 'It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp,'" Brewer said. "When I heard it got nominated, I was like, 'We're going to win it.'"&#xa0;<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div> The Academy wanted to utilize the connection between movie and music on Oscar night by having&#xa0;Howard and Henson perform the song in character. Howard (who was also nominated for best actor) declined. Singleton says his decision was influenced by others."Terrence didn't want to because people in the black film community didn't want him to perform as a pimp on the Oscars," Singleton said. "I really wanted Terrence to perform, and years later Terrence regrets not doing it."Singleton declines to mention the people who objected to Howard performing as a pimp, saying they're some of the same people boycotting this year's Oscars over the nominees' lack of diversity.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>But Howard&#xa0;opened the door for Three 6 Mafia to be the first rap group to ever perform at the Oscars, doing the song alongside Henson."They started flying us back and forth for meetings and getting us prepared. "We were just happy to be there."<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>Though the evening had better musical numbers than most Oscars ceremonies - a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4P1agiM6QE" target="_blank">somber number</a> by Kathleen "Bird" York for "Crash" and Parton bringing the audience <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5vy5e9ez78" target="_blank">back to church</a> -&#xa0;"Hustle &amp; Flow" was easily the highlight.The title&#xa0;"It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" was in a large glowing sign at the top of the stage,&#xa0;part of which was&#xa0;made up to look like the room Djay used to record the song in the movie. Three 6 Mafia, who had shown up in suits, were now in their sunglasses, chain, and baggy clothes, while Henson sang the hook in a beautiful white dress&#xa0;(replacing the word "b-----s" with "witches"). Backup dancers played pimps and prostitutes, including one made to look like Djay.<div></div>"I'm in the audience sitting there watching this crazy music number and part of me was like, 'Geez, I'm totally responsible for this,'" Brewer said. "I was also thinking, somewhere there's an Oscar party going on and people are thinking, 'What the hell is this?'""I had these big shades on during the performance because I was so nervous," Frayser Boy said. "But then I saw Jamie Foxx in the front row singing the words to the song that I wrote. Man, that meant everything to me."Three 6 Mafia were&#xa0;rushed to the side of the stage after the performance, as Queen Latifah came to the podium to announce the winner for best song."I had tunnel vision," Frayser Boy said. "Everything was moving in slow motion, and it was like me and Queen Latifah connected eyes when she opened the envelope and before she even announced the winner, I knew she was going to say 'It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp.'"Even before acceptance speeches could go viral on social mdia, the win was an instant classic in awards history.&#xa0;Juicy J, DJ Paul, and Frayser Boy rattled off names to thank, with a&#xa0;shout-out to George Clooney in the front row. Host Jon Stewart came on afterward and said, "That's how you accept an Oscar."<div></div>Frayser Boy recalls that the group was the toast of every Oscars after-party."The first party was the Vanity Fair party, and we had the Oscar in our hands, and we walked into the party and all eyes were on us," he said. "I met anyone who's anyone that night and they all wanted to meet me. The only thing I regret is I didn't take pictures."<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>But Brewer's favorite memory was the one told to him by his friends back in Memphis."Every Oscar night, this place called the Pink Palace in Memphis holds this Oscar party where old-school Memphis shows up. And when I mean old-school Memphis, I mean old white people," he said. "When 'It's Hard Out for a Pimp' won, they leaped out of their seats and cheered and screamed. Our win meant a lot to the city. That's where the racial lines fall - the unity behind the city itself."<h2>The 'Pimp' legacy continues</h2>Ten years after the Oscar win, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" is part of the popular vernacular. "I've had preachers come up to me and say, 'It's hard out here for a preacher,'" Brewer said.And recently we finally saw Howard and Henson perform the song that made them famous as a duo, when the two "Empire" stars went on Spike's "Lip Sync Battle."<div></div>As the years passed, Three 6 Mafia changed members and their name (to Da Mafia 6ix). Juicy J went solo and Frayser Boy moved to another label. But looking back, Fayser Boy still feels like that Oscars night was all a dream."It's a benefit that never runs out because people believe in your vision," he said. "You pretty much got the trophy to show what you can do."<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>And where does he keep his Oscar?"I donated it to the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, so it's there now for a couple of years," he said. "I like people to see mine. That's something in a million years I didn't think I could do, and that title in front of my name - Oscar winner - is everything to me, because it means I really did something. Where I'm from, Memphis, Tennessee, a lot of people don't come out. A lot of my friends are dead or in jail. Here's Everything Leaving Netflix In January

<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image"></div></div></div>After weeks of brutal and deadly fighting in Gaza, Egypt wants an end.
Saturday the country called on Israel and Palestinians to accept an indefinite ceasefire. They also want to open up talks once again in Cairo to end the battle in Gaza altogether.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also called for peace talks to resume Saturday. 
In the latest violence five people, including two children, were killed in an Israeli strike on a house in central Gaza. Other strikes killed three more Palestinians.
The Israeli military said it bombed about 20 targets across the Hamas-dominated strip, including rocket launchers and weapon caches. It said Gaza militants had fired more than 20 rockets at Israel and no Israeli casualties were reported.
Indirect talks between the sides, brokered by Egypt, collapsed on Tuesday after rockets were fired from Gazaduring a ceasefire and Israel responded with air strikes.
The Israeli military said Palestinian gunmen had fired almost 500 rockets at Israel since the talks broke down and Gaza health officials said 65 Palestinians had been killed in Israeli air strikes since then.
Abbas called on Saturday for both parties to return to the negotiations which aim to end the six-week-old conflict and seal a deal that would open the way for reconstruction aid to flow into the Gaza territory of 1.8 million people where thousands of homes have been destroyed.
"My main goal is for the truce talks to resume in Egypt as soon as possible to avoid more casualties," he told a news conference after meeting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Palestinian health officials say 2,079 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in the small, densely populated coastal enclave since July 8, when Israel launched an offensive with the declared aim of ending rocket fire into its territory.
Saturday's violence came a day after a four-year-old Israeli boy was killed by a mortar attack from Gaza, leading Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to threaten to escalate the fight against Hamas, vowing the group would "pay a heavy price".
The boy was the first Israeli child to have died in the conflict, bringing to four the number of civilians killed inIsrael. Sixty-four Israeli soldiers have also been killed.
The Israeli military had said on Friday the mortar was fired from a school serving as a U.N. shelter, but later retracted that statement, saying the shelter was run by Hamas.
<h3>EXECUTIONS</h3>
On Friday Hamas-led gunmen in Gaza executed 18 Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel. TheIndependent Commission for Human Rights, a Palestinian rights group, said there were two women among those killed.
Masked militants dressed in black executed seven suspected collaborators, shooting the hooded and bound victims in a busy square outside a mosque. The deaths followed the killing of 11 alleged informers at an abandoned police station.
The crackdown on suspected collaborators followed the killing of three of Hamas's most senior military commanders in an Israeli air strike on Thursday, an attack that required precise on-the-ground intelligence on their whereabouts.
On Friday, Israel's military spokesman Brig. Gen. Motti Almoz warned Palestinians near weapons stockpiles inGaza to leave their homes. "We are intensifying our attacks," he said, adding that Israel was "preparing for possible ground action".
Israel pulled ground forces out of Gaza more than two weeks ago after saying it had destroyed a network ofHamas tunnels used for cross-border ambushes. But Netanyahu last week granted provisional approval for the call-up of 10,000 army reservists, signalling the possibility of heightened military action.
Israeli attacks have devastated many areas in the impoverished Gaza Strip. The United Nations says about 400,000 Gazans have been displaced and more than 400 children killed in the longest and deadliest violence between Israel and the Palestinians since the second Intifada, or Palestinian uprising, a decade ago.

Egypt: End This Fight Now

Rapper <keyword id="16418" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jay-Z">Jay-Z</keyword> released a new track on Thursday responding to Republican inquiries about his recent trip to <keyword id="16815" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Cuba">Cuba</keyword> with wife Beyoncé, bragging that President Barack Obama told him he would get "impeached."
Republicans are already seizing on one line from the new track, which Jay-Z <a href="http://lifeandtimes.com/jay-z-open-letter" target="_blank">released</a> on his website — "I got <keyword id="6356037" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="white-house">White House</keyword> clearance." U.S. citizens cannot travel to Cuba unless approved by the government. <a href="http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/04/10/beyonc-and-jay-zs-cuba-trip-was-approved-treasury-dept-says/" target="_blank">According to multiple reports</a>, the Treasury Department said it approved the trip as part of an "educational" exchange.
Upon release of the new track, called "Open Letter," the Republican National Committee sent out an email questioning whether the White House had a hand in the approval. Subsequently facing questions on the topic from reporters, White House press secretary Jay Carney said that the White House didn't have anything to do with it.
"I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury," Carney joked, "because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel, as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it."
Jay-Z and Beyoncé have faced criticism from Florida lawmakers, including Republican Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balar, <a href="http://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=484001c1-ec49-4b05-8186-30ceee18f053" target="_blank">and Sen. Marco Rubio</a>.
On the track, Jay-Z pushed back.
"Politicians never did s— for me, except lie to me, distort history," he raps. "They wanna give me jail time and a fine? Fine, let me commit a real crime."
