We are looking forward to working together to reach the Bebe shopper in this exciting market,” <keyword id="14910355" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ralph-gindi" source="Orion">Ralph Gindi</keyword>, owner and COO, Bluestar Alliance said. <br /><br />Priced from ₹800 onwards, the Bebe selection includes tops, dresses, hats, co-ord sets, denims, sleepwear, activewear and lingerie, and is available on Flipkart today.<br /><br />“The past two years have witnessed a tremendous shift in consumer preferences when it comes to fashion, as it deepens to new niche categories such as athleisure. The Bebe launch comes at an opportune time when people across India, from metros to T2+ regions, seek to upgrade their wardrobes for the festive season,” said <keyword id="3483653" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sandeep-karwa" source="Orion">Sandeep Karwa</keyword>, vice president, <keyword id="2547930" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="flipkart-fashion" source="Orion">Flipkart Fashion</keyword>.<br /><br />Flipkart had over 50 million app downloads ahead of festive season, surpassing that of Amazon, according to wealth management firm Bernstein’s report. Flipkart onboards American apparel company Bebe ahead of festive season

Though the brand shuttered in 2008, it was <a href="http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/bluestar-alliance-acquires-limited-too-300115786.html">acquired by the brand management company Bluestar Alliance</a> in 2015 and plans to roll out <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/limited-too-is-reopening-in-2016-2015-7">200 stores</a> in the next several years.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></p><p><span>"I just wanted to come reminisce about my childhood," Nicole Piccolo, 17, said. "I always used to shop here when I was younger. When I was eight or nine I would ask my mom to bring me here. I would always get the body glitter and I had this jacket that was brown with polka dots on it."</span></p><p><span>Nicole's 13-year-old sister was too young to remember Limited Too, according to their mother, Susan.</span></p><p><span>Nicole loved Limited Too so much so that she came all the way from upstate New York to visit the pop-up store.</span></p><p><span>"We're visiting family so I told my mom I wanted to come, so we chased it down," she said.</span><span> </span></p><p><span>Bluestar Alliance hoped to bring the heralded clothing company to customers who grew up with the brand, especially millennial moms.</span></p><p><span>According to Mo Hedaya, marketing director at Bluestar Alliance, there could be more Limited Too pop-ups in the future, depending on how the New York store does. </span></p><p><span>"We think if this experimental run is successful we would potentially explore key markets for mobile pop-ups," he said.</span></p><p><span>Pier Imbriano, who was shopping for her eight-year-old daughter, was excited about Limited Too's shop.<div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"><p class="source"><span>Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider</span></p></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p><span>"I love the pop-up. It's so convenient. I'm just walking by and it's exactly what I'm looking for and it just felt very meant-to-be. You walk in, here it is," she said.</span></p><p><span>Imbriano and a friend, Lisa Ascalon, found backpacks, shoes, and watches for Imbriano's daughter. The two even joked about being able to get away with wearing some of the items, like a unicorn backpack.</span></p><p><span>"I think the mini-selfie fan is absolutely hysterical and I totally just want to buy it so that I can have it," Ascalon said. For those who don't know, a "selfie fan" is a portable fan that sticks to the back of a cell phone to give selfies a wind-swept look. </span></p><p><span></span><span>The pop-up shop served up plenty of nostalgia. The brand's signature blue and pink flowers lined the walls. Limited Too created a nostalgia-filled paradise in the middle of New York City - take a look inside

<p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Limited Too is making a comeback.&#xa0;<p>Bluestar Alliance bought the name of the '90s brand for girls and tweens, according to<a href="http://nypost.com/2015/07/21/limited-too-is-coming-back-90s-girls-everywhere-rejoice/"> Lisa Fuckenscher at The New York Post</a>.&#xa0;</p><p>Limited Too was beloved for its colorful&#xa0;designs and glittery accessories.&#xa0;</p><p>Bluestar is <a href="http://nypost.com/2015/07/21/limited-too-is-coming-back-90s-girls-everywhere-rejoice/">planning a Limited Too rollout for Fall 2016</a> and could open up to 200 stores.</p><p>At its peak, Limited Too&#xa0;had 600 stores.&#xa0;</p><p>The company <a href="http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/stories/2003/08/25/daily24.html">changed its name to Tween Brands</a> in 2006, and shuttered most of&#xa0;its Limited Too stores amid the recession in 2008. <p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Formerly defunct teen&#xa0;retailer Delia's has resurfaced as an <a href="http://www.delias.com" target="_blank">online store</a>, and it has a strategy to save itself from getting killed off the <keyword id="6354851" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Retail">retail</keyword> chain again, reports Sapna Maheshwari of <a href="http://www.buzzfeed.com/sapna/delias-back-from-the-dead-and-will-make-clothes-for-adults#.ag4PpL4Zp0" target="_blank">Buzzfeed</a>.<p>The chain&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/r-teen-apparel-retailer-delias-files-for-bankruptcy-2014-12" target="_blank">filed for bankruptcy in 2014</a>&#xa0;after failing to keep up with other retailers that captured the hearts and wallets of millennials, like Forever 21 and H&amp;M.&#xa0;</p><p>But given the popularity of nostalgia, it made sense to revive the brand.</p><p>Maheshwari notes Steve Russo swept up the brand for $2.5 million earlier this year.</p><p>The brand announced its grand return via <a href="https://instagram.com/p/0MAcbeJVZa/" target="_blank">Instagram</a>, and women across the Internet celebrated.</p><p><div></div></p><p>But all celebration aside, the problem remains: will nostalgic millennials want to buy the clothes they wore in their formative years?</p><p>Therein lies Steve Russo's strategy.</p><p>"<span>There are certain aspects of the business that are actually being bought by some of the older customers," Russo said to Maheshwari. "<span>We're gonna start to extend that out to be more where the sizing will be a little more fitting to someone slightly older…there's a nostalgia element to it. And we want to bring back some of the old models. We've already talked to them and met with them, and they're actually consulting with us in some cases."</span></span></p><p><span><span>This strategy is translating to Delia's trademark catalog, too.</span></span></p><p>"<span>We're working on doing a throwback flashback catalog ue that will probably be done at the beginning of 2016 that brings together the old and the new." The new includes articles, Russo told Buzzfeed.</span></p><p><span>At its peak, Delia's was known for teen-friendly catalog and its quirky printed tees.</span></p><p><span><div></div></span></p><p class="embed-spacer">Recently, tween paradise Limited Too announced that it would <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/limited-too-is-reopening-in-2016-2015-7" target="_blank">relaunch</a> after going defunct. One of the most popular brands of the '90s is coming back to life

A time illustrated by butterfly hair clips and glitter. &#xa0;A time when I was in a girl-group with my friends called Peppermint&#xa0;with a song that we sang at my birthday party called "Slam It Down."&#xa0;<p>A time that, while devoid of adult-life conflict like a slowed-down metabolism and financial responsibilities, is still a time to which I would not go back, given the opportunity.</p><p>But it appears that the retailer is banking on the fact that many other women will.</p><p>Limited Too, the clothing purveyor of many millennial women's youths, is <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/limited-too-is-reopening-in-2016-2015-7" target="_blank">coming back</a>, much to the delight of the Internet. The store, which had around 600 stores at its peak and was later&#xa0;soaked&#xa0;into Justice,&#xa0;was acquired by Bluestar Alliance this past&#xa0;summer;&#xa0;<span>the&#xa0;</span><a href="http://nypost.com/2015/07/21/limited-too-is-coming-back-90s-girls-everywhere-rejoice/">New York Post</a>&#xa0;noted it launch this fall, and about 200 stores would follow suit . Now, it's on the hot list of things to anticipate in 2016 - it's coming; release the glitter!</p><p>That's, at least, the reaction the news of the store's return garnered. The young, female, exuberant subsector of the Internet was exhilarated when this news came out this summer.</p><p><span>How could they not? In an era of #TBTs and shareable content, nostalgia is practically fuel, and as Bluestar Alliance CEO Ralph Gindi told the</span><a href="http://nypost.com/2015/07/21/limited-too-is-coming-back-90s-girls-everywhere-rejoice/"> New York Post</a><span>&#xa0;,</span><span>&#xa0;"</span><span>We are going to bring it all back."</span></p><p><div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">&#xa0;<div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">&#xa0;<div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">&#xa0;</p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Tugging on the heartstrings of former shoppers is, after all, an excellent and smart way to hook them.<p>"Nostalgia marketing is ... an effective strategy to engage with millennials," Ruth Bernstein, c<span>o-founder and chief strategic officer of image-making agency YARD wrote in a note to</span>&#xa0;Business Insider ."Millennials tend to look inwards - we joke that they're narcissists, but it's true they want to see things that reflect them, and they like looking back at their own lives. Just see the popularity of throwback Thursday #tbt on Instagram."</p><p>And many millennial women are moms, and are shopping for more than just themselves.&#xa0;"Moreover, many millennials are becoming parents themselves, meaning they are the moms who will be shopping Limited Too for their kids," she explained.</p><p>And essentially, to bring back something is in touch with the current social media climate; to revive a dead brand is to speak the language of millennials.</p><p>"These references are rife on Instagram - there's a certain credibility that comes with being able to show you 'knew something back then' or remember 'how it used to be,' and that's a large part of Millennial pride, owning and defining their generation," Bernstein noted, pointing to the "you know you were born in the '80s" <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/08/signs-you-were-born-in-the-80s_n_3806545.html" target="_blank">listicles</a>.</p><p><div></div></p><p class="embed-spacer">It seems like a brilliant strategy. But could it work?</p><p>"Limited Too's nostalgia-heavy marketing strategy will work for moms, since it gains their attention in a crowded market, but ultimately it only works for both moms and their kids if the product is high quality," Bernstein explained.&#xa0;"Brands can't rely entirely on nostalgia to do the work for them. While it can be a great way to reintroduce a brand, the brand still has to deliver in a current and relevant way."&#xa0;</p><p>Nostalgia - while powerful - could also make Limited Too seem out of touch, given that the audience who has to wear the apparel isn't yearning for the retailer's heyday.</p><p><span>"Brands</span>&#xa0;that play with&#xa0;<span>nostalgia</span>&#xa0;with no consideration for the current climate can risk coming across as out of touch, alienating existing consumers and missing out on connecting with a new audience. The key is to use&#xa0;<span>nostalgia</span>&#xa0;as an emotional hook while also bringing something new to the table,"&#xa0;<span>Zaid Al-Asady,&#xa0;Vice President and Creative Director of advertising agency Deutsch, wrote to Business Insider.</span></p><p><span><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div></span></p><p>And lest we forget the infuriating power of apparel.&#xa0;The same crop of humans who squealed with delight at the prospect of its return - would balk loudly, as social justice warriors are wont to do, at some of the store's&#xa0;former shirts, much as they've been appalled by <a href="http://www.techinsider.io/old-navy-aspiring-artist-shirts-controversy-2015-12" target="_blank">Old Navy's</a>&#xa0;and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/targets-trophy-shirt-is-causing-an-unroar-2015-7" target="_blank">Target's</a>&#xa0;tees.</p><p>In a 2007 essay for&#xa0;<a href="http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/fashion/2007/08/lolitas_closet.html" target="_blank">Slate,</a> Emily Yoffe recalled some of the retailer's transgressions,&#xa0;namely three shirts that said "I left my brain in my locker," "I only shop on days that end in Y," and "spoiled and proud of it." Would the Twitter generation stand for that? And would the same millennial moms - ones that call themselves "feminists" - dress their daughters in those shifts?</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div><p>In order to really succeed, Limited Too needs to be&#xa0;looking forward, rather than just digging up the glittery skeletons from the past.</p><p>"There's an opportunity for Limited Too to reclaim a space in the market for tween [and] teen shopping.&#xa0; Given the enormous size and spending power of Gen Z, this group of shoppers will be looking for brands who cater to them in a unique and relevant way. " Paul Munkholm,&#xa0;director of strategy at digital agency Kettle, explained.</p><p>"However, they probably don't want to shop at their 'mom's brand,' so it will be important for Limited Too to retain its brand essence, while evolving for today's tween. It's less about a throwback to the nineties and more about keying into what made it so successful then and finding a way to offer that idea to the Gen Z shopper. The best shopping experiences today are shared, allow for exploration, and for self expression. If the Limited Too can offer those things, then they have a great chance to reestablish themselves in the market," Munkholm noted.</p><p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/where-generation-z-shops-2015-10" target="_blank">Generation Z</a> is a particular crop; they crave authenticity, and denounce stores with negative causes. They also primarily shop online. Limited Too ultimately can&#xa0;cultivate a renaissance by infusing its sassy tween apparel with what young people like today.</p><p><div></div></p><p>Limited Too faces one other potential struggle: the tough environment that traditional mall retailers face. Many traditional retailers&#xa0;been&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/more-bad-news-for-malls-2015-10" target="_blank">struggling</a>. It's become more important than ever for retailers to embrace digital modalities and to engage shoppers outside of the store.</p><p>But if there's any store that seems primed to engage with the fleeting attention spans of today's teenagers, it's Limited Too, which seems to have a built-in, glittery Snapchat brand - even if the store originally served a generation that grew up without smartphones.
