Hospital Superintendent Modini Pandharpurkar noted, "Of the 48, eight were admitted to the hospital, including three children and five adults." Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. Nevertheless, with the ongoing celebrations, the hospital anticipates a higher number of patients in the coming days. She further urged parents to supervise children during firecracker use and cautioned against risky behavior such as holding crackers while lighting them. <h2>Firecracker dispute in Mumbai</h2>In Mumbai, a Diwali celebration escalated into a fatal altercation when a dispute broke out over the location for bursting firecrackers. Vivek Gupta, a 20-year-old resident of Jai Maharashtra Nagar in Antop Hill, lost his life in the confrontation. The incident began when a passerby, Kartik R Mohan Devendra, asked the group celebrating in a narrow lane to move to a safer location. Following a heated exchange, Devendra and his associates returned to the scene, leading to a violent clash during which Gupta was stabbed fatally. Additionally, the relentless firecracker use contributed to a drastic decline in Delhi's air quality. The fire rapidly engulfed their home, and the couple, unable to unlock their electronically secured bedroom door in time, succumbed to suffocation. The incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the need for heightened safety precautions during the festival. <h2>Odisha: Firecracker mishaps result in casualties and injuries</h2>In Odisha, the festive celebrations took a deadly turn as two young boys lost their lives in a firecracker-related blast in Puri, while over 50 people suffered injuries in separate incidents across the state. One tragic accident involved the destruction of 25 shops in a Bhubaneswar market, where property worth lakhs was reduced to ashes. Hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also reported multiple admissions of burn victims, many of whom were children. Puri Superintendent of Police Vinit Agarwal emphasised that strict measures would be taken against individuals involved in illegal firecracker manufacturing. <h2>Kolkata: Smog and noise pollution dampen festivities</h2>In Kolkata, the morning after Diwali brought a sharp decline in air quality as pollution levels soared across the city. Despite efforts by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) to curb the use of harmful firecrackers, many residents disregarded guidelines, leading to dangerously high levels of PM 2.5. The AQI, which hovered around 250 in several areas during the night, remained in the ‘poor’ category the next morning. Environmentalist Somendra Mohan Ghosh criticised the public's disregard for sound and air pollution norms, stating, “Sound crackers were burst rampantly from 9PM till after 1AM across several areas." Officials across the country have voiced concerns and urged citizens to prioritise safety over enthusiasm. Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, mobilised enforcement teams to ensure compliance with the firecracker ban, while activists like Somendra Ghosh stressed the importance of public responsibility in maintaining environmental and community safety. As summer begins, reports have surfaced about fire episodes at Battery Smart-operated swapping stations for electric vehicle (EV) batteries in north India. "The Battery Smart-operated facility housed about 50 battery packs meant for powering electric vehicles," the report said. In January, a fire at another battery swapping facility in Badshah Nagar, Lucknow, killed one person. In May last year, a small <keyword id="11950961" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="battery-smart" source="Orion">Battery Smart</keyword> outlet in Noida caught fire, and two months later, "a similar incident took place at another Battery Smart facility in Delhi's Sitapuri region", according to The Ken. The EV startup said in a statement that "a short circuit may have caused two battery packs to overheat, triggering the fire". "Our IoT-powered system alerted us that two separate batteries were facing a spike in temperature. Within a minute, we informed the ground staff who followed protocol by switching off the main power source and deployed foam extinguishers. (But) they couldn't control the spreading which led to all the batteries catching fire. The fire department was alerted immediately," Khurana told YourStory in a statement. With the temperatures soaring, the fear of EVs and batteries catching fires have come back to haunt people's minds. There were several EVs fire and blast incidents last summer, leading to deaths and strict government probes. Battery Smart claims to be building India's largest and fastest-growing battery-swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers. The Tiger Global-backed startup is co-founded by serial entrepreneurs and IIT-Kanpur graduates — Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka. "The aggregate capacity utilisation levels for the industry sample is expected to decline to 55-60 per cent from around 70 per cent. However, despite moderation, the 2W OEMs will continue to have strong credit profiles characterised by healthy 'ROCE' (average ranging between 18-20 per cent) and comfortable balance sheets with negligible debt and strong cash and liquid investments," the ratings agency said in a statement. "While any major expansion plans are expected to be deferred till the demand recovers sufficiently, it is expected that OEMs will continue investing in new product development and network expansion." According to the ratings agency, fiscal 2021 started on a sombre note as the <keyword id="43587" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="pandemic">pandemic</keyword> outbreak caused unprecedented disruptions to both supply and demand. "While the operations resumed in May 2020, the unabated rise in Covid-19 infections in unlock phase have resulted in localised re-imposition of lockdowns in several states," the statement said. "This has interrupted the pace of overall economic recovery and has led ICRA to revise its forecast for GDP contraction in FY2021 to 9.5 per cent YoY from 5 per cent estimated earlier." Notwithstanding the overall muted macro-economic sentiments, the agency said that on the positive side, the rural economy offers some growth off-shoots in the form of healthy rabi output and lower Covid-19 impact. "Higher farm income has led to sequential pick-up in 2W demand in June and July 2020. After a timely onset, monsoon progress remains healthy across most regions," the statement said. "Benefiting from favourable moisture conditions and seasonally high reservoir levels, kharif sowing has been progressing well (up 19 per cent till July 24, 2020). These factors coupled with the government's various agri-focused initiatives, are expected to support farm cash flows and 2W demand." In the urban markets, which have been more severely impacted by the pandemic, the agency said a preference towards personal mobility could push near-term demand. "However, these would only help to partially offset the adverse impact of the pandemic. Given the expectation of sharp decline India's GDP, lower job creation and income uncertainties, two-wheeler demand will most certainly remain adversely impacted," the statement said. "There is a likelihood of downtrading by consumers as well once the economy starts to cripple back to normalcy." On the export front, ICRA said that while long-term drivers remain favourable, Covid-19 fallout and volatility in crude oil prices (as it impacts demand in key markets) remain a near term negative. "Nonetheless, an attractive product portfolio and continued focus of Indian 2W OEMs on building and expanding overseas sales and after sales networks (replacement market) provides potential for growth in the medium term," the agency's statement added. Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with 2 big screens inside and out

<keyword id="224588" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ralf-Speth">Ralf Speth</keyword>, the chief of Tatas-owned <keyword id="6354362" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Jaguar-Land-Rover">Jaguar Land Rover</keyword> (<keyword id="45218" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="JLR">JLR</keyword>), has expressed disappointment over the ban that Supreme Court of India imposed on 2000cc and above diesel SUVs as well as cars in the national capital region. He has said that technologically, the ban is not justified. 
 
Speth stated that there are many aspects in which diesel engines are better than their petrol counterparts. "I am an engineer and I am very disappointed with the ban," he stated. 
 
"I don't understand the rationale behind the ban. All our models are Euro-VI complaint and these vehicles clean the air, and the air they suck in is far dirtier than which comes out of it. If we ban these kinds of vehicles I don't understand it," Speth told PTI. He was interacting with the sidelines of the Auto Expo 2016, which started today. 
 
In order to overcome the ban, JLR would be looking to bring in more petrol variants of its models, as stated by Rohit Suri, president of JLR India. He also added that they already sell petrol variants of the Jaguar XJ, Range Rover Sport. 
 
Today at the auto expo, the company launched two petrol variants of the Jaguar XE. The new model will be assembled at the company’s Pune plant, making it the sixth model which would be assembled in the country. 
 
Speth was also asked about the impact of the slowdown in China, to which he said that 2015 was a very difficult year for the company in the world's largest auto market. He also added that confounding the problem was the heavy loss that it had to suffer, because of the blast at the Tianjin port. 
 
However, he looked hopeful about faster growth in Europe, which has become its largest market in 2015, led by Britain.

OnePlus sends legal notice to lawyer who alleged Nord 2 explosion — asks him to remove tweets and offer an apology

New Delhi, Feb 18 () Billionaire Sanjeev Gupta-led GFG Alliance on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Adhunik Metaliks and its arm Zion Steel for about Rs 425 crore, marking its entry into the Indian steel market. London-based GFG Alliance is a global group of energy, mining, metals, engineering and financial services businesses, which was eyeing Indian market for long and has become the second global company to enter the local steel market in past two months. In December 2019, L N Mittal's ArcelorMittal completed the acquisition of Essar Steel to enter the Indian market. GFG Alliance on Tuesday completed the strategic acquisition of Adhunik Metaliks Ltd (Adhunik) and Zion Steel Ltd (Zion) in a Rs 4.25 billion or USD 60 million cash deal. The transaction marks the Alliance's entry into India, one of the world's fastest growing steel markets, the London-based group said in a statement.The immediate focus, it said, will be on reviving and restoring the facilities and operations of the two companies, and once stabilised the business will begin its integration into the Liberty Steel Group, a part of GFG Alliance.Commenting on the acquisition, India-born British businessman and Executive Chairman of GFG Alliance Sanjeev Gupta said: "Today marks an important milestone in our global steel strategy with the purchase of Adhunik Metaliks and our entry into India. India is one of the fastest growing and most vibrant steel markets in the world." Adhunik has an integrated steel plant located at Chadrihariharpur near Rourkela in Odisha. The plant has both blast furnace and Electric Arc Furnace steel making capability with 0.5 million tonne per annum (MTPA) capacity, and a 34 MW captive power plant.Adhunik along with Zion Steel's steel rolling facility has a combined capacity of 400,000 tonnes per annum. New Delhi, Apr 30 () Domestic steel makers are likely to face muted demand and oversupply which would lead to suppressed steel prices post-lockdown, according to a report by India Ratings (Ind-Ra). Besides, they are also expected to face issues with availability of workforce and logistics movement, the report released on Thursday said. "Muted demand and oversupply is likely to create a loop leading to suppressed prices until either there is a substantial uplift in demand or a substantial volume goes out of the market," it said. Ind-Ra said the nationwide lockdown has aggravated the challenges for the steel sector. "With the relaxation in lockdown in many districts across India starting May 4, 2020, Indian steel players will look to gradually increase capacity utilisations. The key challenges in the near term are manpower availability and ensuring finished inventory to normal levels," the report said. "While steel and its raw material commodities have been classified as essential goods, the logistical constraints may remain due to non-availability of fleet and longer trip time," it added. The agency said it had already revised the sector outlook to negative from stable for financial year 2020-21 in February 2020. Domestic steel demand in FY21 is likely to drop by around 12-15 per cent year-on-year with end-use industries being closed down and limited demand growth expected over the near term. Demand from infrastructure, construction and real estate sectors is likely to be subdued in 1HFY21 (first half of FY21) with the lockdown in 1QFY21 (April-June FY21) and the monsoon season over 2QFY21 (July-September FY21), it said. Furthermore, the demand from automobile, white goods and capital goods sectors is likely to reduce with consumers deferring discretionary spends in the near term. As such, government spending on infrastructure is likely to be the key driver for a gradual recovery over 2HFY21. The agency further said that it expects an inventory build-up primarily of intermediate/semi steel products with downstream facilities of most players being closed during the lockdown. Large producers have also kept their blast furnaces operational at lower capacity of 35-50 per cent due to the high cost of restarting the furnace in case it was to be shut. However, small and mid-scale producers with induction/electric arc furnaces remained completely shut during the lockdown. "The built-up inventory shall put pressure on steel prices post lockdown and the agency expects a correction of INR 3,000/MT in average realisations over FY21 on a y-o-y basis. "As of end-March 2020, hot rolled coil prices (Delhi 2.5-8mm, IS2062) were 3 per cent lower while rebar prices were 9 per cent lower than those at end-January 2020 when there were limited concerns over the spread of COVID-19 in India," it said. New Delhi, Mar 31 () Farmers can delay wheat harvesting till April 20 without incurring any major losses as temperature in the growing states is still below the long-term average, government research body ICAR said on Tuesday, while advising farmers to take precautions amid the rapid spread of coronavirus in India. Normally, wheat harvesting begins from March-end. The government has pegged a record wheat output of 106.21 million tonnes in 2019-20 crop year (July-June) on the back of good rains as against 103.60 million tonnes in the previous year. In its latest advisory to farmers, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) sad, "The temperature in most wheat growing areas is still below long-term average and therefore likely to delay wheat harvesting by at least 10-15 days beyond April 10, therefore, farmers can delay wheat harvesting till April 20 without incurring any significant loss." This would give farmers enough time to manage logistics for procurement and announcement of dates, it said. ICAR said the movement of combine harvesters within the state and between states is permitted, and asked farmers to ensure that the workers engaged in repair, maintenance and harvesting operation adopt safety measures for coronavirus. Currently, manual harvesting of mustard -- the second most important rabi crop -- is underway and threshing is due wherever it is already harvested. ICAR said harvesting of lentils, maize and chillies is in progress, while that of grams is fast approaching. Sugarcane harvesting is also at its peak, while it is also time for manual planting in the north. In its advisory, the agri-research body asked farmers to engage only "familiar persons to the extent possible and after reasonable enquiry as to avoid the entry of any suspect or likely carrier (of the coronavirus) during field activity." "Prefer mechanized operations over the manual wherever feasible. Only the essential numbers of persons should be allowed to accompany the machine," it said. In case of manual field operations of harvesting/ picking, accomplish the operation in 4-5 feet spaced strips assigning one strip to one person. This will ensure adequate spacing between the engaged labours, it added. ICAR further asked farmers to stagger field operations wherever possible, and avoid engaging more number of persons on the same day. "All the persons engaged should use masks and ensure hand washing with soap at reasonable intervals. Maintain safe distance of 3-4 feet during rest, taking of meals, transfer of produce at collection point, loading/unloading," it said. With regard to rabi paddy, ICAR said the crop in southern states has been widely affected due to 'neck blast' disease. Therefore, adequate precautions should be taken while spraying of recommended fungicide by contract sprayers/ farmers. In horticultural crops at fruiting stage such as mango, adequate precautions should be taken in handling inputs and mixing while carrying out field operations related to nutrient spray and crop protection. Besides, delivery and washing of equipment should also be undertaken. ICAR said farm machines and implements should be sanitized at entry point and at regular intervals. All transport vehicles, gunny bags or other packaging material should also be sanitized The collection of the produce may be done in small heaps spaced at 3-4 feet and field level processing should be assigned to 1-2 persons/heap to avoid crowding. Proper sanitation and cleanliness of threshers for harvested maize and groundnut is to be maintained, especially when machines are shared and used by farmer groups. Copious washing of machine parts frequently touched with soap is advised, it added. For post-harvest, storage and marketing of farm produce, ICAR asked farmers to take precautions while performing drying, threshing, winnowing, cleaning, grading, sorting and packaging operations at the farm level. "Ensure proper drying prior to storage of harvested grains, millets, pulses at farm/home and do not use reuse previous seasons jute bags to prevent pest infestation. Use treated and dried gunnies after soaking in 5 per cent neem solution," it said. Farmers should take enough personal safety measures while loading and transporting farm produce and participating in sale at market yards/auction platforms, it said. ICAR said seed producing farmers are allowed to transport their produce to seed companies with supporting documents, and asked them to take precautions while receiving payments. Farmers should take precautions while direct marketing/supplying vegetables such as tomato, cauliflower, green leafy vegetables, cucumbers and other cucurbits from farms. "Seed processing/packaging plants and transportation of seed from producing states to growing states (south to north) is essential to make available seed for ensuing kharif crops. I studied under a central board. We did not learn about the circumstances under which the state joined the Indian Union, nor that Kashmir is the most militarised zone in the world in terms of the number of armed forces personnel per square km of territory. Through my school years in the 1990s, there were news stories from the state about blasts and killings and terrorists, seemingly always about violence. Did they delve into the background of the anger? I don’t know because I did not go beyond the headlines. There was a sameness and one-sidedness to them – invariably images of fire and guns and empty streets – that never invoked interest. When the television news business arrived in a big way in India, this impression was amplified – Hollywood action movie-style visuals of gunfire and explosions and people running for cover, or reporters reporting amid the silence of empty streets patrolled by army men with enormous guns strapped to their bodies. Bombast with no context. This is unsurprising, because journalists’ access to the Valley is mediated through the army, making them structurally dependent on the armed forces and predisposing them to be favourable to their perspective. When <a href="https://www.scmp.com/topics/narendra-modi" class="link-text">Narendra Modi</a> ran for prime minister in 2014, his Bharatiya Janata Party’s manifesto promised that <keyword id="405091" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Article-370">Article 370</keyword>, which spelt out the special conditions under which the province joined the Indian Union at the time of Independence, would be removed. For a populace that was, like me, mostly unaware of its content, it was easy to latch on to simplified nuggets such as the fact that Kashmir does not allow land to be sold to Indians from other states. It sounds like a concession made to a Muslim-majority state but this land restriction exists in several states in India, and is important to prevent heedless development in ecologically sensitive areas. Strange as it may sound, it is the <a href="https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/society/article/2184614/triumph-modi-propaganda-bollywood" class="link-text">Hindi film industry</a> that has taught me the little I understand about the anger in Kashmir, about the “special” powers of the armed forces stationed there and the “special” consequences they inflicted. Three Bollywood films in particular have left an impact – Haider (2014), Fanaa(2006) and Mission Kashmir (2000). There have been several indie films, extremely well-regarded, but I choose to focus on the big-budget, big star projects of the film industry because these arguably had the widest release and reach. Haider is a reworking of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, set in the “rotten state” of Kashmir in place of Denmark. The setting is much more central to the drama here than it is in Hamlet where the rottenness of Denmark was expressed only in the suspicious death of the king. Here, politics is central to Haider’s father’s disappearance from Kashmir. We never know for certain if he is alive or dead, and this, as we see in the film, is the situation that many Kashmiri families find themselves in. <h3 style="margin-bottom: 1.42857rem; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: 300; font-stretch: inherit; font-size: 1.71429rem; line-height: 2.35714rem; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; display: inherit;"> </h3>The evocative term half-widow has arisen from this waiting without end – this is the status of Haider’s mother and many other wives who don’t know what has become of their husbands. In the uncertainty about his father (and the many fathers and brothers and sons who have been taken into custody by the forces in Kashmir and never returned), Haider (and Kashmir) is going mad. Gravediggers sing songs, they are so inured to death. Citizens hesitate to enter their own homes without a pat-down security check, they are so conditioned to being checked. Mothers beg that their sons are sent away from them because they are so afraid of losing them to the insurgency or to the limitless powers of the Indian army. Most of all, the film articulates the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that the Indian government has imposed on the Valley, how terrifying it is when men with guns have boundless power and no one to question them. Rapes and disappearances ensue, and there is no need to answer what happened because Afspa gives you “special powers”. “Do we exist or do we not”, the film asks in a haunting choral crescendo reminding us of that original line in Hamlet, “to be or not to be”. In Fanaa (2006), a blind Kashmiri woman and a terrorist fall in love with each other during India’s Independence Day celebrations in Delhi. He is there to carry out a blast and she to dance at the national celebration: classical opposites, the nationalist and the revolutionary. After the blast, the terrorist disappears because he comes to the realisation that he would put the woman in danger because of his work. The nationalist’s blindness means she cannot locate him. Years later, fate returns him to her doorstep in Kashmir and the two reconcile briefly before she hands him over to the Indian national forces. Fanaa is nowhere near as compelling or thought-provoking as Haider, it is simply a star-crossed romance set in Kashmir. But it ends on a pointedly ambiguous note. When the couple’s son asks the mother why his father was a terrorist, she replies that he did what he thought was right. The film clearly argues that the terrorist is misguided by malevolent forces yet it refrains from making a moral call on the terrorist’s actions. Mission Kashmir (2000) is about a powerful policeman whose son dies when militants forbid doctors from treating the child. In an episode of poetic justice, the policeman kills a boy’s family in an encounter and adopts the traumatised boy. This encounter is likely carried out with the vast powers granted to Indian forces under the Afspa, certainly no questions are asked of the policeman after the encounter. But the man himself is hollowed by remorse, especially at the sight of the boy who lived. He becomes a terrorist, determined to avenge his family’s gruesome end. That classic divide is set up again, terrorist against dutiful nationalist in a land where loyalties are sharply divided. Eventually, the terrorist comes around to the Indian nation’s view, that Islamist groups are provoking young men like him to divide India. Like Haider, Mission Kashmir questions the actions of Indian forces in Kashmir, though the conclusions the two films come to are different. The policeman’s remorse suggests that the Indian state has a lot to think about and apologise for, that the unchecked power that it has granted its forces leads to <a href="https://www.scmp.com/thisweekinasia/topics/human-rights" class="link-text">human rights</a> violation that feeds the insurgency in the Valley. Haider on the other indicts the Indian state for unleashing this unapologetic, shameless military strength on the Valley. Incidentally, Mission Kashmir is made by a director who is from Kashmir himself. Haider, similarly, is written by Basharat Peer who is also a Kashmiri and has written a highly-acclaimed book on Kashmir called Curfewed Night. Both films are informed by a lived perspective of Kashmir. On August 8, 2019, when Prime Minister Modi addressed Indian citizens on Kashmir, he mentioned the prospects for films. “I urge the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil film industry to come to J&amp;K for shooting their projects,” said Modi. The Hindi film industry has long indicated that Kashmir has a special place by marketing movies filmed in the Valley, naming films using Kashmir in the title and using iconography identified as Kashmiri like the houseboat and the chinar leaf. No other Indian state has been marked as “special” like this by the Hindi film industry. There are films named after big cities like Kolkata and Mumbai and Delhi, but nothing after an entire cultural identity. Until Mission Kashmir, however, these films only did lip service to Kashmir, promoting a tourist’s view of the state, a natural “paradise” where hero and heroine fell in love. These films were not rooted in Kashmir, disengaged from its problems. Mission Kashmirnaturally is a product of its times, born out of a decade-plus of the insurgency that flared in the Valley in the late 1980s. Thereafter, as the unrest never subsided, there have been several films which offer an insider’s view of Kashmir. <h3 style="margin-bottom: 1.42857rem; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: 300; font-stretch: inherit; font-size: 1.71429rem; line-height: 2.35714rem; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif; vertical-align: baseline; display: inherit;"><a href="https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3022046/indias-kashmir-move-attempt-shift-its-muslim-demographic" class="link-text">India’s Kashmir move: an attempt to shift its Muslim demographic? </a></h3>I’ll end with one of the opening sequences of Haider, where his (Hamlet’s) mother, a schoolteacher, is teaching the children of her class the meaning of home. “It is brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers. It is unselfish acts and kindly sharing and showing your loved ones you are always caring.” It is an obvious metaphor for the Indian nation and its fraught relationship with Kashmir, the parents and the estranged child. The filial bond is often invoked for India and <a href="https://www.scmp.com/topics/pakistan" class="link-text">Pakistan</a>– brothers separated in a bloodied moment.But there is also another metaphor here: the Indian state teaching us the history of our “home”, and our duties as citizens and how we should live like brothers and sisters at home, “unselfish acts and kindly sharing”. It brings me back to where I started, what we are taught about our home and what we are not. Every nation controls its citizenry through education and so does India. We never learned the conditions in which Kashmir joined the Indian Union, and the circumstances we created to keep it at any cost. Perhaps it is not so strange then that I learned what little I did about Kashmir from our biggest film industry. For all its commercial inclinations, its lessons feel less biased than that of the Indian state’s.

Bollywood teaches more about Kashmir than India’s schools

The fourteen men arrested by <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=NIA">NIA</a> on suspicion of being part of an 'online radicalization module' that owes allegiance to ISIS have revealed they were supposed to focus on ‘political targets, foreigners, vital installations and government machinery’ and not crowded public places. 
 
Counter-terror experts believe that this is a new trend among home-grown jihadis. The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Indian+Mujahideen">Indian Mujahideen</a> (IM) that successfully carried out multiple blasts across India from 2004 to 2014 targeted market places and religious establishments. 
 
Two of the 14 arrested suspects were brought to New Delhi and produced before a local court on Sunday. The Court remanded the duo for 13 days <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=NIA">NIA</a> custody. The two have been identified as Abu Ansa and Nafees Khan, both residents of Hyderabad. According to <keyword id="6360058" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="NIA">NIA</keyword>, 12 others will be produced before the court on Monday. 
 
The new strategy of these radicals is to target a political person because targeting public does not yield results. "The arrested suspects who owe their allegiance to AuT/IS believed that to shake the government, politicians should be targeted," a top NIA official told ET. 
 
"IM commanders considered that it was difficult to target a political person and would have also led to lot of backlash against their community," the official said.

My father had the dream of sending me to the US for my undergraduate education. This time, I got admission to UC Berkeley. I was not yet 18."I went to the US embassy to get my visa and it was denied. I tried again, and was still denied. My father said, 'We are not going to give up.' I applied another time and was denied again."So I got rejected three times by the US consulate in New Delhi."I do not know a more tenacious person than my dad. He figured out who the person in charge [of the consulate] was. In the lobby, there was a picture of him so he waited until he returned from lunch and he tracked him down and followed him to his office."The counselor didn't really want to talk to him, but was nice enough to listen. For 20 minutes non-stop, in a very passionate and angry fashion, my father blasted away at the counselor, explaining to him how much of an opportunity he was depriving me of."At the end of that 20 minutes, the counselor said, 'Ok. I'll give your son a visa.' I learned from my dad that tenacity is the key to success."Mehrotra studied computer science and electrical engineering at Berkeley, eventually completing his master's degree and discovering a love of "designing chips" he told us. We believed there was a huge opportunity that lay ahead of us in flash."By 2011, a year into Mehrotra's reign, Sandisk had recovered enough to make its first acquisition, a flash company called Pliant Technology, <a href="http://www.sandisk.com/about-sandisk/press-room/press-releases/2011/2011-05-16-sandisk-announces-agreement-to-acquire-pliant-technology/">paying $327 million cash</a>. It made a few more acquisitions in the market in 2013.In 2014, it bought Fusion-IO for $1.1 billion, too. This was one of the companies that helped create the enterprise flash storage market (and who famously employed Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak).Fusion-IO was a a 2011 IPO darling that hit a tailspin in 2012 and lost both of its co-founders in 2013. Mehrotra was eyeing it for much of that time."We first looked at Fusion-io at the end of 2013, and the valuation at the time appeared too high and we decided to pass on it. The deal restarted again in March/April of 2014 timeframe, and the acquisition was completed in July in 2014," Mehrotra told us.<h3>A $1 billion business</h3><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div></div></div>And now SanDisk is moving quickly to become a major player in flash enterprise storage."This business, this year, we expect to achieve in flash sales and enterprise storage, $1 billion in revenue. It just started for us in 2011 and we've grown this business to $1 billion," he says.Investors have been excited - and sometimes downright hyped up - about SanDisk's future too.The stock has been on a roller coaster over the past year, (reaching above $100/share a couple of times) and it has mostly traded at well over $80.
