Kuldeep Rai Sharma from Indian National Congress is winner from Andaman and Nicobar Islands With 15 candidates trying their luck in the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the tough game is said to be between the BJP and Congress parties. In Lok Sabha elections 2014, Bishnu Pandey Ray representing BJP won the seat by defeating the Congress Candidate Manoranjan Bhakta. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has fielded Vishal Jolly who locked horns with Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Congress party. The other important candidate who is in the game this time is Sanjay Meshak of Aam Aadmy Party (AAP). TMC has fielded Ayan Mandal, who is the grandson of the former MP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Manoranjan Bhakta. Minoty Biswas, the former chairperson of South Andaman Zilla Parishad is now contesting for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as an independent candidate. He might be a prospective candidate who could challenge the results in the union territory. He is a Bengali candidate and the significant percentage of Bengali population might vote for him this time which can take away the vote share from that of BJP and Congress. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP, Congress, AAP and TMC ranked first, second, third and fourth respectively in terms of their vote share.

Totaling to 572 Islands, 37 of them are inhabited. The number of eligible voters in the Island as per the latest statistics are 2,95,018 comprising of 1,55,383 males and 1,39,624 females. There are 11 third gender voters registered in the Islands. Over the past two general elections in 2014 and 2009, the BJP won from this constituency. The Congress party won from here only in 2004 elections. Over the past, Andaman and Nicobar Islands constituency is seeing a fight between the BJP and the Congress party. The present MP from the seat is Bishnu Pandey Ray of BJP who won over Congress Party’s Manoranjan Bhakta. Andaman and Nicobar has one Lok Sabha seat to give the parliament. There are no reserved seats in the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar. The <keyword id="58687" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bharatiya-Janata-Party">Bharatiya Janata Party</keyword> leading on 17 seats. The Times Now Exit Poll Predictions had said Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress might not do as well as it did in 2014 elections. The projections forecast TMC winning from 28 out of 42 seats in West Bengal. Though the vote share of TMC might remain the same in 2019 <keyword id="6355187" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="lok-sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> election result as it was in 2014, the predictions presuppose that the TMC’s seats might be down by about 6 this time. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TMC got 34 seats out of 42. The remaining 8 seats were distributed among the other contesting parties at the rate of 2 for BJP, 4 for the Congress party and 2 for the left front led by the CPI (M). If the Times Now Predictions match with the actual turnout after the results are announced, the BJP might be winning 11 seats from West Bengal in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the party could get only 2 seats during 2014 general elections from this state. The TMC contested from all the 42 constituencies in West Bengal. While choosing the candidates to represent the party in 2019 elections from this state, Mamta Banerjee had decided to drop 10 sitting MPs and getting in 18 new candidates. Besides the 42 seats in West Bengal, TMC contested from 3 seats in Jharkhand, 2 seats in Odisha, 2 seats in Bihar, and 1 seat in Andamans. TMC has also decided to let its candidates try their luck from 10 assembly constituencies in Odisha as the state of Odisha is going for assembly and Lok Sabha 2019 polls simultaneously. The Party’s sitting MP Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of Mamta Banerjee, the TMC chief faced the elections once more from Diamond Harbor, his winning constituency. The celebrity candidate of TMV Mimi Chakraborty contested from Jadavpur. Yet another star candidate of TMC Nusrat Jahan fought from Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been pushing for simultaneous elections for both state and central legislatures, but the proposal has faced severe political opposition. Nearly 900 million voters are expected to turn out this year, compared to 814.5 million in 2014. The number of polling stations will be increased from 900,000 in 2014 to 1 million this year. 16 million new voters will be between the age of 18 and 19, compared to 23.1 million in 2014. 1.7 million voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines will be in use after a <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/elections/story/the-many-claims-of-evm-tampering-in-india-1435638-2019-01-21" data-type="tilCustomLink" target="_blank">series</a> of allegations of foul play in many state polls in the run up to the general elections in 2019. VVPAT is a second line of independent verification via a printer machine, which is attached to electronic voting machines. When a voter presses the button against the party symbol of their choice on the electronic voting machine (EVM), a paper slip is printed through VVPAT. The slip would contain the poll symbol and name of the candidate and allows voters to verify if their vote has gone to the intended candidate. After the voter views the slip, that slip will be dropped inside a sealed box linked to the EVM. "The Model Code of Conduct comes into effect from today itself in the entire country. On Monday, March 18, 2019, the Election Commission of India issued the <keyword id="7441904" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha-Election-2019-First-Phase-Notification">Lok Sabha Election 2019 first phase notification</keyword>. While the different political parties in India are vigorously working to grab their share of the seats across the 543 constituencies for the Parliament, the EC’s notification sets the formal tone for the first phase of Elections that will cover 91 Lok Sabha seats spread across 20 states and Union territories in the country. The tenure of the present BJP Government in the state will end on June 3, 2019. Hence the Election Commission has announced the conduct of <keyword id="4287364" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha-elections-2019">Lok Sabha Elections 2019</keyword> that will decide who will assume the power in the center for the next five years. In a notification issued on March 10, 2019, the EC has said that the polling for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will happen in 7 phases starting on April 17, 2019 and ending on May 19, 2019. The votes all over the country will be counted on May 23 with the results declared on the same day. Phase-1 notification highlights As per the formal notification on phase-1 of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the polling will happen on April 11, 2019 in 91 constituencies. Last date to file the nomination to contest in these constituencies will be March 25, 2019. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on March 26, 2019. Last date to withdraw the nomination is March 28, 2019 91 Constituencies that will go for polling during Phase-1 During phase-1 polling on April 11, 2019, all the 25 constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Telangana, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 7 in Maharashtra, 5 in Uttarakhand, 5 in Assam, 4 in Bihar, 4 in Odisha, 2 in Arunachal Pradesh, 2 in West Bengal, 2 in Jammu and Kashmir, 2 in Meghalaya, 1 in Chhattisgarh, 1 in Manipur, 1 in Mizoram, 1 in Nagaland, 1 in Sikkim, 1 in Tripura, and 1 in Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep will go for polling. 2014 Lok sabha Elections results in the 91 constituencies During 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP alliance bagged 52 seats out of the 91 seats going for polling on April 11, 2019 during the first phase of elections. The Congress led UPA could bag only 9 seats from this segment. Other parties won from 30 seats in total. Assembly Elections During phase-1 polling on April 11, 2019, the Election Commission is also conducting the Assembly Elections in some states clubbing them with the polling for the Lok Sabha. All the 175 assembly constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, all the 32 assembly constituencies of Sikkim, all the 60 assembly constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh, 28 out of the 147 assembly constituencies of Odisha will also go for polling on this day.
