The educational institutions were directed to continue studies on their respective premises by strictly following Standard Operating Protocol on COVID-19 issued by the central government. Gujarat postpones reopening of schools after significant rise in COVID-19 cases

Around 54,000 students replied in affirmative as they wanted to move on, get the certificates for jobs or pursue higher education. Only 900 students opposed holding of examinations, he added. The GTU would conduct examinations while maintaining social distancing, use of masks and sanitizers, and by making other arrangements across its 350 centres, Chudasama said. The GTU has given the students three options -- the classroom examinations that will begin on Thursday, online examinations, and special examinations to be held on improvement in <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> situation. The students living in containment zones or those who are not willing to take classroom examinations can either go for online examinations or special examinations, the dates for which will be announced later. The online examinations will be held from July 21, as declared by the GTU earlier. However, the Congress has opposed the decision to conduct examinations and have demanded that the students be mass promoted. "The corona crisis in Gujarat is out of control. More than 32,000 people have been infected and over 1,800 lost their lives. Gujarat schools and colleges reopen after nine months of COVID-19 restrictions

Gandhinagar The Gujarat government on Wednesday decided to resume offline studies for Classes 9 and 11 in its schools from February 1. Earlier, offline studies for Classes 10 and 12 was permitted from January 11. Offline tuition for all these classes have also been allowed, in addition to the online mode. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama told the media: "The <keyword id="63592" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Education-department">Education Department</keyword> had prepared a Standard Operating Protocol on January 8 to resume offline studies for Classes 10 and 12. As classroom teaching for senior students is resuming after almost 10 months, there were lots of apprehension among students and their parents. Gujarat to reopen schools for class 10&12 and colleges from January 11

New Delhi, Apr 13 () The Gujarat government has briefed the Centre about the steps it has taken to help students in the state amid the coronavirus lockdown. State's Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama held a telephonic conversation on Saturday with Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal over issues related to students, the Gujarat government said in a press release on Monday. The press release said Chudasama informed the minister that 210 days of teaching work is over in universities and colleges in the state, e-learning has begun in universities with Google class room, Zoom application and YouTube. "Apart from this, a virtual learning platform has been developed with NaMo-e tablet application created by the Department of Education. It offers syllabus for all the courses from different universities," the release noted. Online courses have also been introduced for student trainees pursuing B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education), the release said. Chudasama also informed Pokhriyal about other steps that the state has taken for the students amid the nationwide lockdown since March 25, imposed to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. In the press release, Chudasama said: "Department is actively using social media and technology so that no student has to face adverse impact on their study due to COVID-19. Education department of state will continue working with commitment until the situation is corrected". "For physical distancing, we are giving the educational institutions the option of odd-even formula and alternate-day teaching so that students keep safe distance. It will also be ensured that students, even during recess or other times, don't crowd and maintain physical distance," added Chudasama. "The Education Department officials and District Education Officers will monitor schools and colleges in their respective areas and submit daily reports to us," the Education Minister added. For the continuation of education in primary schools, Chudasama said: "After we get a feedback on this decision and how it works out, the government will decide on resuming studies in primary schools." Gujarat set to reopen higher secondary schools and colleges from November 23

Addressing the media, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said: "The Union Education Secretary has issued guidelines for all the states to put on hold all the examinations of universities, looking at the prevailing situation of Covid-19." Curbs on educational activities to continue in Guj The Gujarat government on June 30 issued a notification regarding the second phase of unlocking. While talking to Economic Times, Gujarat education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, “No concrete decision in this regard has been taken. I shall not be able to say anything more on this.” 
 
However, a source told the financial daily that the roadmap for introducing the chapters was not prepared yet and it would take some time before the final call.
