Financial services company <keyword id="7349800" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Monday said it has raised ₹50 crore in debt from <keyword id="6254083" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Northern-Arc-Capital">Northern Arc Capital</keyword>, one of the leading digital debt finance platforms. This is the sixth round of debt financing in 2021, the company said. In January, the company had raised ₹200 crore from three top debt companies in the country -- Alteria Capital, <keyword id="2809652" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="InnoVen-Capital">InnoVen Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="2694863" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trifecta-Capital">Trifecta Capital</keyword>, having later raised additional capital from <keyword id="6653" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword> and <keyword id="6355975" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="axis-bank">Axis Bank</keyword>. "We have considerably ramped up our lending business in the last year and have set an ambitious target of facilitating disbursals to the tune of $1 billion to more than 10 lakh merchants by the end of current fiscal (FY22)," said Suhail Sameer, Group President, BharatPe. "We are excited about our latest capital raise from Northern Arc and are confident that, together, we will be able to transform Bharat and serve the needs of the underserved businesses in India," he added. The fintech company has already facilitated disbursals of over ₹1,600 crore to more than 2 lakh merchants since the launch of the lending vertical. SME lending startup BharatPe raises ₹50 crore in debt from Northern Arc Capital

Currently serving over 40 lakh merchants across 35 cities, BharaPe has grown its business by 30x in 2019 and is leading in UPI offline, processing over 5 crore UPI transactions a month (annualized TPV of US$ 4+ Bn). The company has facilitated disbursement of more than 40,000 loans (close to Rs. 250 crores) to its merchants since its launch. BharatPe has raised US$142.5 million till date. BharatPe’s strategy to ride on the back of IPL and Bollywood’s popularity

Merchant payment and lending service provider <keyword id="7349800" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Thursday said it has acquired <keyword id="1917213" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PAYBACK-India">Payback India</keyword> from <keyword id="91294" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="American-Express">American Express</keyword> and ICICI Investments Strategic Fund. The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. This is the first-ever acquisition by BharatPe and will make Payback <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> a wholly-owned subsidiary of BharatPe, a statement said. Payback India - launched in 2010 - is a multi-brand loyalty programme with over 100 million members in the country. It has a network of more than 100 offline and online partners and allows its customers to earn and redeem points on every transaction at its partner merchant outlets. The acquisition of Payback India is in line with BharatPe's strategy to build a robust and engaged network of over 20 million small merchants by 2023, the statement said. With Payback India, BharatPe will be able to enhance its value proposition for the merchant partners, it added. Additionally, it will enable BharatPe to build a lucrative set of offerings for end customers, that will enhance footfalls at merchants and accelerate the growth of their businesses. As a result of the acquisition, all Payback India employees will become part of the BharatPe group. Suhail Sameer and Gautam <keyword id="2220" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kaushik">Kaushik</keyword> (Group Presidents at BharatPe) along with Sumeet Singh, General Counsel of BharatPe, have joined the Board of Payback India. The role of the senior leadership team at Payback India will be expanded to also work on the loyalty programme for the six-million plus merchants of BharatPe, it added. The team, led by Pramod Mahanta (MD Payback India) and Rijish Raghavan (Chief Executive Officer at Payback India), will be working closely with Gautam Kaushik to build a new version of Payback India. Notably, Kaushik was the CEO and MD of Payback India prior to joining BharatPe in February this year. The company (Payback India) will continue operating under its current name and there will be no impact on the existing customer and partner relationships with Payback India that will continue to roll out initiatives for customers across India, the statement noted. "With the acquisition of Payback India, we will be able to add a whole new dimension to our merchant value proposition. In addition to the range of payment and credit products which BharatPe offers to help merchants scale their business, we will also be able to drive more consumers to their stores," BharatPe co-founder and CEO Ashneer Grover said. He added that the company is committed to build India's largest and most engaged merchant network and this acquisition will be a "game-changer" in that regard. It processes over 10 crore UPI transactions per month (annualised Transaction Processed Value of more than USD 10 billion) and facilitated disbursement of loans totaling to over Rs 1,600 crores to its merchants since launch. BharatPe acquires Payback India from American Express and ICICI Investments Strategic Fund

New Delhi, <keyword id="2461546" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="FinTech">FinTech</keyword> services company <keyword id="7349800" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Monday announced that it has raised ₹139 crore (nearly $20 million) in debt from <keyword id="4844054" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alteria-Capital">Alteria Capital</keyword> and <keyword id="6653" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICICI-bank">ICICI Bank</keyword>. The company raised ₹90 crore in debt from Alteria Capital and ₹49 crore from ICICI Bank. The company has raised a total of ₹199 crore in debt to date. "We have committed ourselves to have $700 miilion of <keyword id="6362287" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="loans">loans</keyword> to small merchants and kirana store owners by March 2023 and are hoping to on-board more institutional debt partners in the near future," said Ashneer Grover, <keyword id="170488" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="co-founder">Co-Founder</keyword> and CEO, BharatPe. "We aim to become a digital bank that is the one-stop destination for merchants for all kinds of financial services and this tranche of funds will get things rolling". The company is disbursing loans of ₹200 crore per month to merchant partners currently and has set a target of disbursing ₹1,000 crore of loans in the FY21.
