Both companies had been involved in long-drawn legal disputes across multiple courts, over the past five years. "The settlement will put an end to all open judicial proceedings," the joint statement dated May 26 read. As a next step, they have already taken steps to withdraw all oppositions against each other in the trademark registry which will help them to proceed with the registration of their respective marks. Further, both organizations will undertake other necessary steps to comply with the obligations under the settlement agreement in respect of all cases before the <keyword id="19895875" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-High-Court" source="keywords">Delhi High Court</keyword> and <keyword id="19905533" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bombay-High-Court" source="keywords">Bombay High Court</keyword>, the statement said. <keyword id="19956324" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rajnish-kumar" source="keywords">Rajnish Kumar</keyword>, Chairman of the Board, of BharatPe, said, "This is a positive development for the industry. BharatPe and PhonePe amicably settle all trademark disputes over 'Pe' suffix

Former <keyword id="7349800" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bharatpe" source="Orion">BharatPe</keyword> co-founder and managing director <keyword id="2988161" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ashneer-grover" source="Orion">Ashneer Grover</keyword> has revealed he made a cool ₹2.25 crore from <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> IPO within 8 minutes of its opening in July last year. In his memoir 'Doglapan', <keyword id="3433" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="grover" source="Orion">Grover</keyword> said that with the IPO being oversubscribed more than 30 times, he got an allotment of shares worth over ₹3 crore. "My RMs (relationship managers), based on grey-market premiums, were expecting the Zomato share to list between ₹85-90, as against an issue price of ₹76. I, however, was certain that it would do far better. When the share opened on the listing day at ₹116 per share, I mandated them to sell all my shares," he wrote. By the time the trade got executed, "I got a selling price of ₹136 per share. With my landing cost after interest being between ₹82-85, 1 ended up making over ₹2.25 crore," he said. "Within eight minutes of the Zomato IPO opening, I had made over ₹2.25 crore." Grover said that he became a little greedy post the Zomato IPO. "I went in for the Car Trade IPO but ended up losing ₹25 lakh there," he said. Grover, currently facing a court case filed by BharatPe that he co-founded, said that he was bullish on the Zomato IPO on several counts. "Of course, I knew of Deepinder (Goyal), and I am a big believer in his ability to persevere and keep building big. Fundamentally, with the pandemic the ticket size of their orders had grown, as people were ordering food from home for 3-4 members in the family, as against single rolls in office, thereby increasing Zomato's absolute margins," he wrote. Moreover, with restaurants completely dependent during lockdowns on app orders, there was no risk of the take-rate coming down. "On the other hand, job insecurity among delivery boys kept delivery costs in check. I made ₹2.25 crore within 8 minutes of Zomato IPO opening: Ashneer Grover

Ashneer Grover, who was sacked along with his wife Madhuri Jain Grover by fintech platform BharatPe over alleged financial irregularities, has slammed the Reserve Bank of India (<keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>) over its latest directive to non-bank prepaid payment instruments to stop loading credit lines onto their products. In a tweet, Grover said that "not allowing loading of pre-paid instruments through credit is aimed at protecting bank's lazy credit card business from Fintech's potent BNPL (buy now pay later) business". "It's a flex move by banks -- rent seeking. But market is market and regulation will eventually come around to what market needs," he added. The RBI, in its latest one-page circular, has disallowed non-bank PPIs from loading credit, and several such startups and firms have already stopped customers' transactions on their prepaid cards to avoid penalty. The banking PPIs include HDFC Flexipay, ICICI PayLater, HDFC Payzapp, SBI YONO and others, along with several UPI-driven platforms like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay and Amazon Pay, etc. "The PPI-MD (PPI-master direction) does not permit loading of PPIs from credit lines. Such practice, if followed, should be stopped immediately. Any non-compliance in this regard may attract penal action under provisions contained in the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007," according to the RBI directive. Grover is reportedly in talks with US-based private equity companies to raise up to $300 million for a new startup. "Today I turn 40. BharatPe’s strategy to ride on the back of IPL and Bollywood’s popularity

Merchant payment and lending service provider <keyword id="7349800" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="bharatpe">BharatPe</keyword> on Thursday said it has acquired <keyword id="1917213" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PAYBACK-India">Payback India</keyword> from <keyword id="91294" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="American-Express">American Express</keyword> and ICICI Investments Strategic Fund. The company, however, did not disclose the financial details of the transaction. This is the first-ever acquisition by BharatPe and will make Payback <keyword id="3658" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> a wholly-owned subsidiary of BharatPe, a statement said. Payback India - launched in 2010 - is a multi-brand loyalty programme with over 100 million members in the country. It has a network of more than 100 offline and online partners and allows its customers to earn and redeem points on every transaction at its partner merchant outlets. The acquisition of Payback India is in line with BharatPe's strategy to build a robust and engaged network of over 20 million small merchants by 2023, the statement said. With Payback India, BharatPe will be able to enhance its value proposition for the merchant partners, it added. Additionally, it will enable BharatPe to build a lucrative set of offerings for end customers, that will enhance footfalls at merchants and accelerate the growth of their businesses. As a result of the acquisition, all Payback India employees will become part of the BharatPe group. Suhail Sameer and Gautam <keyword id="2220" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Kaushik">Kaushik</keyword> (Group Presidents at BharatPe) along with Sumeet Singh, General Counsel of BharatPe, have joined the Board of Payback India. The role of the senior leadership team at Payback India will be expanded to also work on the loyalty programme for the six-million plus merchants of BharatPe, it added. The team, led by Pramod Mahanta (MD Payback India) and Rijish Raghavan (Chief Executive Officer at Payback India), will be working closely with Gautam Kaushik to build a new version of Payback India. Notably, Kaushik was the CEO and MD of Payback India prior to joining BharatPe in February this year. New Delhi, After an entrepreneur complained in a LinkedIn post that a <keyword id="830092" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="zomato" source="Orion">Zomato</keyword> delivery agent advised him to cheat the company by paying some money directly to him and enjoy the food, the company's Founder and CEO <keyword id="476451" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="deepinder-goyal" source="Orion">Deepinder Goyal</keyword> said he is "aware" of this fraud and is "working to plug the loopholes". Vinay Sati posted that a Zomato delivery agent suggested that from next time, pay him Rs 200 or Rs 300 and enjoy food worth Rs 1,000. "Aap bas mujhe 200rs, 300rs de dena or 1000rs ke khane ke maje lena," Sati quoted the agent as saying in the post. The agent allegedly told him that "I will show it to Zomato that you have not taken the food but will also give you the food you ordered". "I got goosebumps hearing what scam is happening with Zomato," posted Sati. He ordered some Burger King burgers from Zomato and made the online payment. "And as soon as the delivery boy came after 30-40 minutes, he told me that sir, don't pay online next time," said the entrepreneur. "He said that next time when you will order food worth 700-800rs through COD (cash on delivery) you only have to pay Rs 200 for that." Sati said: "Deepinder Goyal ji, now don't say that you don't even know that this is happening?" Goyal replied: "Aware of this and working to plug the loopholes".
