New Delhi, Mar 11 () Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) on Wednesday said it has won a Rs 1,546-crore project from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for building a stretch of NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh under Bharatmala Pariyojana. The project will be undertaken under the hybrid annuity mode. "The company led consortium has received a letter of award (LOA) from NHAI for ... six laning of Vijaywada Bypass from Gollapudi to Chinnakakani including major bridge across river Krishna in Vijayawada Gundugolanu section of NH-16 under Bharatmala Pariyojana on hybrid annuity mode," Adani Enterprises said in a regulatory filing to the BSE. Bharatmala Pariyojana is a government-sponsored and funded road and highways project. The company's bid project cost for the 17.88 km project was Rs 1,546.31 crore, the company said adding it will be completed in 2.5 years. Adani Enterprises would continue to evaluate and bid for attractive opportunities in transport sector which generates value for the stakeholders, it said. "The Group would use its expertise and experience of setting up complex and mammoth infrastructure projects in record time and to world class quality standards and also successfully operating them," the statement said. New Delhi, Mar 31 () Adani Enterprises on Tuesday said it has won a Rs 866 crore highway project from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Madhya Pradesh. The project pertains to four-laning of Nanasa to Pidgaon section of NH-47 under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I (Economic Corridor) on Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). "The company has received a letter of award (LOA) from NHAI for ...four laning of Nanasa to Pidgaon section of NH-47 (Old NH-59A) (Indore-Harda, Pkg-III) (Length-47.445 km) Design Ch. 95+000 Km to 142+445 km under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I (Economic Corridor) in the State of Madhya Pradesh on Hybrid Annuity Mode," the company said in a regulatory filing to the BSE. Adani Enterprises wins Rs 866 cr highway project from NHAI in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi, Mar 11 () PNC Infratech Ltd on Wednesday said it has bagged orders worth Rs 3,582 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening of road projects in Uttar Pradesh. In a filing to the BSE, the company said it has received "letters of award (LOA) from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on March 9, 2020, for the project of four-laning of the Aligarh-Kanpur section from 356 km (design chainage 373.085 km) to 414 km (design chainage 433.728 km), package-V, Mitrasen-Kanpur section of NH-91 in the state of Uttar Pradesh on a hybrid annuity mode under the Bharatmala Pariyojana for a bid project cost of Rs 2,052 crore." The price bids for the project were opened on February 12 and PNC's bid was the lowest, it said adding that the construction of the project is to be completed in 30 months. In a separate filing, the company said it has received letters of award (LOA) from the NHAI on March 9, 2020 for the "project of four-laning of the Jagdishpur-Faizabad section from 47.93 km (design chainage 47.8 km) to 107.68 km (design chainage 108.02 km) of NH-330A in the state of Uttar Pradesh on a hybrid annuity mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana" for a bid project cost of Rs 1,530 crore". PNC Infratech bags Rs 3,582 cr orders from NHAI

New Delhi, Jan 15 () Highways sector allocation is expected to swell by about Rs 10,000 crore in the Budget for the next fiscal, a source said on Wednesday.
India has an ambitious highways building programme and under Bharatmala, the Road Transport and Highways Ministry has identified stretches for development of about 26,200 km length of economic corridors, 8,000 km of inter corridors, 7,500 km of feeder routes, 5,300 km border and international connectivity roads, 4,100 km coastal and port connectivity roads and 1,900 km expressways in near future.
"We expect the budgetary allocation for the highways sector to increase by Rs 8,000-10,000 crore," the source said.
The allocation for highways sector during the last budget was about Rs 83,000 crore.
In the last budget, the government had said that going beyond incremental growth, India has attained the fastest growth in highways building at 27 km a day and is all set for a quantum leap in transport infrastructure.
The road building pace has reached about 30 km a day at present.
The government had approved Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in October, 2017 with an aggregate length of about 34,800 km (including 10,000 km residual NHDP stretches) at an estimated outlay of Rs 5.35 lakh crore.

New Delhi, Feb 13 () Ashoka Buildcon on Thursday said it has emerged as the lower bidder for a highway project worth Rs 1,035.5 crore in Karnataka.The project entails four laning of a section of NH-206 in the state.Ashoka Buildcon had submitted its bid to National Highways Authority of India for the project to be built on hybrid annuity mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana, it said in a BSE filing."The company emerged as the lowest bidder at the financial bid opening meeting held on February 13," Ashoka Buildcon said.The quoted bid project cost for the project is Rs 1,035.50 crore, it added. Ashoka Buildcon emerges as lower bidder for highway project in Karnataka

New Delhi, Dec 12 () Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday road engineering is one of the key factors for a large number of accidents in the country.
Gadkari said his ministry is getting around Rs 14,000 crore to fix problems in the "black spots" of highways where repeated accidents take place.
"Drivers and vehicles are not alone responsible for the large number of accidents which take place in the country every year. Road engineering is also responsible for many accidents," he said during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha.
Gadkari said the ministry had taken up detailed review of the national highway network to develop road connectivity to border areas, development of coastal roads including road connectivity for non-major ports, improvement in the efficiency of national corridors.
The minister said development of economic corridors, inter-corridors and feeder routes along with integration with Sagarmala and others, under the 'Bharatmala Pariyojana' have been reviewed.
Under this proposal, the ministry has identified stretches for development of about 26,200 km length of economic corridors, 8,000 km of inter-corridors, 7,500 km of feeder routes, 5,300 km border and international connectivity roads, 4,100 km coastal and port connectivity roads, 1,900 km expressways, Gadkari said. Road engineering one of the key factors for large number of accidents in country: Gadkari

New Delhi, Dec 5 () Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed regret in the Lok Sabha on Thursday over hurdles like land acquisition and environment clearance faced by various road projects, saying the country must have a positive approach towards development.
Gadkari also asked all MPs to remain aware about road projects in their respective constituencies and help in resolving problems coming on the way of constructing roads and bridges.
"Everyone says 'stop the work'. No one says 'do the work'. The country has to have a positive approach and attitude towards development projects," he said during the Question Hour.
Describing the process of acquiring land and environment clearance as the major hurdles, the Union road transport and highways minister said environment and development have to go together.
"I am pro-environment. But environment and development have to go side by side," he said.
The minister said the government of India had approved Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in October 2017 with an aggregate length of about 34,800 km (including 10,000 km residual NHDP stretches) at an estimated outlay of Rs 5,35,000 crore for development of various road projects.
The projects include about 9,000 km of economic corridors, about 6,000 km of inter-corridor and feeder roads, about 5,000 km of national corridors efficiency improvements, about 2,000 km of border and international connectivity roads, about 2,000 km of coastal and port connectivity roads, and about 800 km of expressways.
Gadkari said development of highway stretches is taken up post finalisation of alignment, cost estimates, land acquisition requirement etc., based on outcome of DPR/ feasibility study, project viability, inter-se-priority and availability of funds. ACB IJT

New Delhi, May 20 () Transport infrastructure sector in India holds an investment opportunity of USD 575 billion in the next five years, according to a report. Although the country has improved its transportation landscape over the last two decades, much remains to be done to meet the increasing demand now and in the years ahead, the report by management consulting firm Kearney said on Wednesday. India holds an investment opportunity of USD 575 billion in transport infrastructure sector in the next five years, the report said. "Roads and Railways constitute 80 per cent of the total investment opportunity driven by investments in flagship projects such as Bharatmala Pariyojana, Dedicated Freight Corridor, High Speed Rail, etc," the report titled 'Harnessing the opportunities in India's transportation infrastructure' said. However, it identified delays in land acquisition, clearance, constraints in funding for infrastructure projects, lack of efficient dispute resolution mechanism as key challenges in realising the investment opportunity. "Significant opportunities exist in various transportation infrastructure in India, prioritizing the most important ones is of paramount importance. "Although there are obstacles to realizing the vast potential, these challenges can be overcome with a concerted and coherent strategy across the key stakeholders: government authorities, concessionaires and contractors, and financial institutions," Manish Mathur, Partner and Head Asia Pacific, Transportation and Infrastructure Practice for Kearney, said. Outlining key steps for overcoming the obstacles and maximizing the opportunities, it said the government authorities need to focus on identifying the right funding model, ensuring robust cash flow management with comprehensive viability assessment, and enabling a vibrant ecosystem of concessionaires and contractors while designing their transport infrastructure development strategies. The report said the concessionaires and contractors need to explore strategic partnerships, identify the right markers for decision-making, and ensure the quality and timeline of project delivery with the growing infrastructure investments and greater participation from the private sector. About financiers it said: "In addition to re-evaluating the risk–reward spread in the infrastructure sector, financial institutions should collaborate with government authorities and concessionaires to develop innovative products for financing." USD 575 bn investment opportunity in transport infra in next 5 yrs: Kearney

New Delhi, Dec 24 () The new order inflows for construction companies will improve in 2020 with a huge pipeline of projects in the infrastructure sector, rating agency Icra said on Tuesday.
 Assigning a stable outlook for the construction sector, Icra however said delays in land acquisition, funding issues, and state government priorities pose threat to new order inflows.
 "Icra has given a stable outlook for the construction sector. With a huge pipeline of projects to be awarded in the infrastructure sector, Icra expects the new order inflows for construction companies to improve in CY (calender year) 2020," it said.
 As the government plans to more than double the investment in infrastructure sector to about Rs 100 lakh crore over the next five years, the construction companies are likely to witness significant opportunities with key segments being highways, railways, ports, urban infrastructure and airport.
 In the railways segment, besides the core railway capex (doubling, new lines, signalling, electrification, etc), the station redevelopment is expected to provide significant opportunities to the construction companies, the report said.
 Similarly, in the highways sector, adequate pipeline of projects for development/upgradation of national highways and state highways exists. The Bharatmala Pariyojana itself is expected to provide large opportunities for the construction sector as the programme is the largest road development programme in India.
 The rating agency also said delays in land acquisition, funding issues, and state government priorities remain key risks to the new order inflows.
 The order inflows from non-infrastructure segments like industrial and real estate (excluding affordable housing segment) are expected to remain muted, with weak private sector capex growth, it said.
 "The order inflow for construction sector has been robust over the last few years, supported largely by increased government spending towards infrastructure.
 "However, H1-FY2020, has witnessed lower new order inflows and cancellations of some orders in Andhra Pradesh, which has resulted in a decline in order book for some players. Nevertheless, the order-book position of most of the construction players is currently adequate to provide medium term revenue visibility," Icra said.
 On the execution front, Icra expects the healthy order-book should support growth in operating income of construction companies in the first half of 2020, though it could witness moderation if the new order inflows weaken.
 However, construction companies which have leveraged balance sheets and stalled or slow-moving projects, would continue to face challenges.
 As for financial health, operating profitability is expected to remain stable with the benefits of benign inflation and steady execution; though this would also be dependent on any steep variation in key raw-material and labour cost. However, the capex and working capital requirement could absorb most of the cash accruals. ABI ANU

New order inflows for construction sector to improve in 2020: Icra

New Delhi, Dec 11 () The government on Wednesday gave its nod to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to set up Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) and monetise national highway projects.
 InvITs are instruments on the pattern of mutual funds and are designed to pool small sums of money from a number of investors to invest in assets that give cash flow over a period of time.
 "The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the proposal of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, authorising NHAI to set up InvIT as per InvIT Guidelines issued by SEBI," the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement.
 This will enable NHAI to monetise completed national highways that have a toll collection track record of at least one year and NHAI reserves the right to levy toll on the identified highway, the statement said.
 InvIT as an instrument provides greater flexibility to investors and is expected to attract patient capital (for say 20-30 years) to the Indian highway market, as these investors are averse to construction risk and are interested in investment in assets which provide long-term stable returns, it said.
 It will also facilitate retail domestic savings and corpus of special institutions (such as mutual funds, PFRDA, etc.) to be invested in infrastructure sector through InvIT.
 Roads and highways are the lifeline of the economy, connecting remote and far-flung areas and ensuring efficient transportation on regional as well as pan-India basis, it said.
 Development of national highways has a multiplier effect in terms of facilitating trade and enhancing the overall economic development of a region, it added.
 In October 2017, the Centre launched Bharatmala Pariyojana, which is the flagship highway development programme of Government of India for development of 24,800 km of roads for a total investment of Rs 5,35,000 crore.
 Given the magnitude of Bharatmala program, NHAI would need adequate funds to complete the projects within the prescribed timelines, it said.
 "As a part of this exercise, a workable option is to monetise the completed and operational NH assets to unlock their value and offer attractive schemes to private players to invest in construction of national highways," the statement said.
 It stressed that using new and innovative financing vehicles has become inevitable for organisations like NHAI that have limited existing sources of funds.
 The then Finance Minister, in his Budget Speech of year 2018-19, had stated that NHAI may consider organizing its road assets into Special Purpose Vehicles and use innovative monetising structures such as Toll, Operate and Transfer model and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvlTs).
 Based on the learning and experience, NHAI has been actively working on setting up an InvIT to monetise its completed and operational national highways projects with the objective of mobilizing additional resources through capital markets.
 NHAI's InvIT will be a trust established by NHAI under the Indian Trust Act, 1882 and Securities and Exchange Board of India (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014.
 The InvIT Trust will be formed with an objective of investment, primarily in infrastructure projects (as defined by Ministry of Finance). InvIT may hold assets either directly or through an SPV or a holding. NAM RVK
