Per reports, the government is also mulling raising the threshold of standard deduction under income tax regimes from the present Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Additionally, to boost healthcare accessibility for the underserved in the country, the government is also contemplating to double the annual coverage offered under the <keyword id="20097876" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ayushman-Bharat-health-insurance-scheme" source="keywords">Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme</keyword> from the present Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh over the next 3 years, along with also covering individuals aged over 70. Mr. Tashwinder Singh, CEO &amp; MD, Niyogin Fintech Limited, which offers credit to MSMEs, noted that upcoming regulatory changes should focus on simplifying compliance, taxation policies that encourage entrepreneurship, and incentivise innovations that drive R&amp;D investments. "We hope that the government takes measures to support the lending industry through access to capital and affordable interest rates, enabling entrepreneurs to realize their vision. Furthermore, we look forward to relaxed norms for NBFCs, allowing them to contribute more substantially to the economy. These measures will collectively propel India's economic growth, boost job creation, and position the Indian fintech industry as a strong contender in innovation and entrepreneurship", he continues. As for bolstering green infrastructure and clean energy production, Ms Aditi Balbir, Co-founder, EcoRatings notes that the 2024 union budget should prioritize investments in sustainable infrastructure projects and clean energy solutions, as 70% of greenhouse gas emissions stem from energy, industry, and buildings. "This will create a future-proof foundation for economic growth and help in achieving net-zero targets. Infrastructure is crucial in addressing climate change and meeting diverse societal needs. A transformative overhaul of our current and future infrastructure assets is essential. The budget should introduce financial incentives, such as lower interest rates on loans and dedicated grants, for companies committed to ESG compliance. This will create a clear link between sustainability efforts and economic benefits", she continued. <h2>Focus on Agri-credit, Real Estate in Budget 2024</h2>The government could also raise the target for agricultural loans disbursed during the year by up to 25%, setting the target at Rs 25 lakh crore. The government will also have to revamp the MSP (minimum support price) system in this space, focusing on challenges such as narrow coverage, dipping export competitiveness, discouraging private investment in this space and more. Another area that demands significant attention is real estate. Shubhi Jain, Principal Partner &amp; Head of CRM, Square Yards anticipates significant reforms in the upcoming budget under the new government. Securing industry status will unlock a plethora of legal and administrative benefits, along with much-needed tax incentives. "Also, while government’s focus on affordable housing under PMAY is commendable, recalibrating strategies in light of escalating construction costs is imperative for sustained inclusiveness and effectiveness. Going ahead, prospects for continued strong growth in FY25 remain robust. India also managed to bring down its current account deficit (0.7% of GDP in FY24), while projecting a 7%+ growth rate in the medium term. On the employment front, the survey noted that AI might moderate India's services export growth by as much as 0.3 to 0.4 percentage points annually over the course of the next decade. As such, greater emphasis and focus is needed on areas like blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, cloud computing, big data analytics, augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D printing, and web and mobile development. The current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who belongs to the rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has hailed Mukherjee as an "outstanding statesman of our times". Mukerjee's term as President of India, a post enabled by the Congress, ended in 2017. <keyword id="664247" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="CNR-RAO">CNR Rao</keyword>, the eminent Indian scientist who was awarded the Bharat Ratna for his work in the field of chemistry and currently heads the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, has said that 90% of the Indian universities and higher educational institutions have outdated curriculum. According to Rao, this is the reason why Indian institutes are not listed in the top institutes of the world. 
 "90 per cent of the universities in our country have outdated curriculum. We talk about increasing funds, increasing infrastructure but there is no improvement in the content we are teaching in our hi-tech classrooms," Rao was quoted saying during the <keyword id="3127703" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Visitors-Conference">Visitor's Conference</keyword> at the Rashtrapati Bhawan yesterday. 
 
"One of the major reasons behind why Indian institutions don't make it to the top 100 universities in the world. There are lot of Indian students abroad who want to study in our country and come back but there are no quality colleges to offer them the same kind of environment and education," he added. 
 
"Talent search in our country has always been marginal. We teach our students what Newton and Faraday did but there is no mechanism to look out for similar talent in interiors of the country," he said. 
 
Talkimg about the bureaucratic hassles in the education system, he said that, "You want to introduce a course, institute a fellowship, establish an exchange programme, utilise the already allocated funds... there are so many laws, too many bureaucratic rooms. I think that process should be simplified." 
 The conference, which started yestersay, has the Heads of 114 institutions, including President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword>. The subjects that will be deliberated upon during the conference include creating inter-linkages of Industry-Academia, interfacing with ranking agencies, providing impetus to research and innovation in educational eco-system, establishing international networks and workforce sustainability, among others. 
 Nobel laureate <keyword id="377475" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kailash-Satyarthi">Kailash Satyarthi</keyword> and renowned geneticist <keyword id="96510" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="MS-Swaminathan">MS Swaminathan</keyword> are also a part of the conference. 
 
Talking about the Right to Education, Satyarthi said, "Though the introduction of Right to Education (RTE) has contributed to a significant progress in the sector but lack of three things - inclusion, quality and equity, are still roadblocks in ensuring progress at the ground level." 
 
Swaminathan, known as 'Indian Father of Green Revolution', called for developing courses in "Sustainability Science" in all the institutions.

The shares of Biocon ended 4% lower yesterday. Mahindra and Mahindra Mahindra and Mahindra (M&amp;M) extended the date of sale of its entire stake in Neo Solren to CLP India. The company said that due to COVID-19 the sale of stake is expected to be done by September, earlier August was the deadline set by the company. The shares of M&amp;M ended 4% lower yesterday. Punjab National Bank India’s second-largest lender Punjab National Bank hiked its repo-linked lending rate (RLLR) by 15 basis points (bps) to 6.80 per cent. 100 basis points make 1%. All new retail loans related to housing, education, vehicles and credit to MSMEs are linked to RLLR. The shares of PNB ended 6% lower yesterday. Bharat Earth Movers Ltd and Tata Power The Indian defence ministry sealed a deal with domestic defence majors to procure Pinaka rocket launchers for six Army regiments at the cost of ₹2,580 crore. The deal has been signed with Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL) and engineering major Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) while defence public sector undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) will also be part of the project. The shares of BEML ended 8% lower yesterday, and Tata Power was down 4%. The iconic Sachin Tendulkar today celebrated his 43rd birthday by playing cricket with children from the ‘Make-A-Wish India’ organisation in the city, even as the fraternity wished him and waxed eloquence. 

	Tendulkar spent some time with the children, teaching them the basics of batting, bowling and fielding at the MIG Club. He posted the same on his official Facebook page.
 

	Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket in November 2013 during the Test match against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium.
 

	Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer in Tests and ODIs. He is the only cricketer to have hit 100 international centuries, and the first to score a double century in ODIs.
 

	Tendulkar received India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna from the President Pranav Mukherjee in 2014. He is the youngest recipient to date and the first ever sportsperson to receive the award.
 

	As he stepped into his 43rd year, wishes started to pour in on Twitter.
 “Many happy returns of the day champion @sachin_rt have a blessed year!” former India captain and long-time teammate <keyword id="6364325" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Anil-Kumble">Anil Kumble</keyword> wrote on his Twitter handle. India opener <keyword id="17805" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shikhar-Dhawan">Shikhar Dhawan</keyword> said, “Happy Birthday Paaji! 	Calling himself a “true fan”, the “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” star Ayushmann Khurrana tweeted: “It’s Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday. True fan! When he used to get out, I used to stop eating food.”
 

	Actor and comedian Vir Das not only wished the batting legend, but also highlighted how the star has taught the world about humanity. He posted: “There’s very few athletes who teach you as much about humanity as they do about the sport. Happy Birthday Sachin Tendulkar”.
