On the NSE, shares of the firm soared 20 per cent to Rs 133.08 -- its upper circuit limit. The company's market valuation stood at Rs 58,558.18 crore. Shares of the Bhavish Aggarwal-led electric two-wheeler company made their market debut on August 9. From the issue price of Rs 76, the stock is currently up nearly 75 per cent. These motorcycles, built on Ola’s scalable and modular platform, boast a sleek and futuristic design aimed at transforming the two-wheeler market in India. <h2>Ola Electric launches Roadster series of motorcycles</h2>Positioned as an entry-level electric motorcycle, the Roadster X stands out with its 11 kW motor. Ola claims that it is the fastest in its segment. The motorcycle offers three battery variants (2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh) with the top variant achieving a range of 200 km and a top speed of 124 kmph. The bike promises to feature advanced technology, including a Combi Braking System (CBS), Sports, Normal, and Eco riding modes, and a 4.3-inch LCD display powered by <keyword id="22805228" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="MoveOS-5" source="keywords">MoveOS 5</keyword>. Targeted at the commuter segment, the Roadster is said to be designed for speed and efficiency. With a powerful 13 kW motor and three battery variants (3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh), it claims to be able to accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2 seconds and also promises to offer a best-in-segment range of 248 km. Ola Electric is also offering an industry-first 8-year battery warranty for its motorcycle range, along with access to its extensive charging network. <h2> Bharat 4680 Cell integration, Gen-3 platform and more announcements</h2>Ola Electric also announced the integration of its indigenously developed Bharat 4680 cell into its vehicles starting Q1 FY26. This lithium-ion cell promises to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Ola’s electric vehicles. The Bharat 4680 cell, currently in trial production at Ola’s Gigafactory, claims to be five times more energy-dense than the widely used 2170 form-factor cells. It also offers a wider operating temperature range, a longer lifecycle with over 1,000 charge cycles, and rapid charging capabilities—up to 50% charge in just 13 minutes. At Sankalp 2024, Ola Electric also unveiled its Gen-3 platform, which will serve as the foundation for the company’s future EV models. This platform is designed to deliver superior scalability, enhanced performance, and better efficiency, all while reducing production costs. There were announcements on the software front as well. The company introduced the MoveOS 5. Building on the success of MoveOS 4, the latest version is said to improve the overall riding experience by introducing features like Group Navigation, Live Location Sharing, and Road Trip Mode. Ola Electric shares surge nearly 16 percent

Shares of <keyword id="19956271" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola-Electric-Mobility" source="keywords">Ola Electric Mobility</keyword> were in a freefall today, tanking about 4.55% on the NSE and 4.88% on BSE. Today also marked 30 days since the company was listed on the bourses (August 9th), bringing down shutters on the one-month lock-in window anchor investors are mandated to hold stocks for, before deciding to offload 50% of shareholding. Around 18.18 crore shares, or about 4% of company's outstanding shares were eligible for trading in the market post the 30-day lock-in, which hurtled Ola's stock towards Rs 100. While the stock managed to gain some ground later in the day, and was trading at Rs 114.10 when the markets closed today, slightly up from its intraday low of Rs 109. However, it still remained a far cry from its all-time high price of Rs 157.4, which it had hit on August 20th, 2024. Ola Electric, which currently dominates the Indian EV space, debuted on stock exchanges last month, and was looking to raise Rs 6,145.56 crore via fresh issue, along with an OFS (offer for sale) of 8.49 crore equity shares. The IPO was oversubscribed by around 4x. Going ahead, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led startup is also set to face intense competition from fellow EV maker Ather Energy. With its IPO set to hit the markets soo, Ather is looking to raise Rs 3,100 crore via fresh issue, and an OFS of about 2.2 crore equity shares. Per the DRHP (draft red herring prospectus) filed by Ather, its net worth for FY24 stood at Rs 545.9 crore. The remaining 50% of Ola Electric's shares will be eligible for offloading by anchor investors in 60 days from now, or 90 days since the date of allotment. While this event will certainly test Ola's buoyancy in the market, the fact remains that Ola was off to a stellar start days after its listing, when the stock price accelerated to Rs 157.4 on August 20th, 2024. This skyrocketed the company's valuation well beyond that of established Indian 2-wheeler giants like Hero Moto Corp and Bajaj, albeit briefly. In fact, for a small period, Ola Electric Mobility had recorded valuations higher than that of Tesla's. For perspective, Ola's market capitalization, as of today, stood at Rs 50,327.57 crore. Bajaj Auto, which listed on the exchanges in 2008, presently has a market value of Rs 3,02,993.79 crore, while Hero Moto Corp, which was listed in 2003, currently has a market value of Rs 1,14,788.59 crore. However, ever since hitting this peak on August 20th, Ola's prices have only been on a downward journey. However, now that the stock has witnessed a price correction of sorts, the question remains- has Ola corrected enough, or are we still in for further downside? As per SEBI registered Investment Advisor Gaurav Goel, Ola continues to trade in the expensive zone despite recent correction. "The recent mercurial rise in the stock has been more on the promise it holds for the future. It is the largest <keyword id="23099550" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="E-Scooter-Manufacturing" source="keywords">E-Scooter Manufacturing</keyword> company in India, with 31% market share in the E2W sector, selling 3,29,618 scooters in FY24. Recently, it also forayed into the motorcycle segment with several new “Roadster” models at an attractive pricing. It is building an Ola Gigafactory for cell production in Tamil Nadu, and a Battery Innovation Centre in Bangalore", Goel explained. "However, we feel that despite attractive future plans, the stock is currently overpriced. Despite rising revenues, we need to see how quickly it is able to translate widening losses into profits", he continued. <h2>Gaping holes, take a long-term approach </h2>It is hard to overlook the wide, year on year losses that the company continues to incur. As of March 2024, the company had racked up an operating loss of Rs 1,266 crore. Per its Q1FY25 financials, the company's losses before taxes during April-June 2024 grew to Rs 347 crore, up from Rs 267 crore in the year-ago period. The company's cash flows from operating activities continued to be in red, rising from Rs 2,520.25 crores in March 2021 to Rs 15,072.71 crore as of March 2023. Generally, if a company is regularly registering negative cash flows from its primary, operational activity, it is a troubling sign, indicating that the company is spending more than what its making. Ola continues to rack up major losses in its cell business, which reported a loss of Rs 5 crore in Q1FY25. The segment's operating expenses, however, doubled from Rs 11 crore in Q1FY24 to Rs 22 crore in Q1FY25. Per Agrawal, the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, which will be integrated in all Ola vehicles starting Q1FY26, will help in bettering the company's profit margins, given that cells constitute around 30-35% of overall vehicle's cost. Which is why experts suggest not to buy into any short-term euphoria surrounding the stock, and instead, opt for a long-term approach. While there is scope, it is largely unchartered waters, which will have to face the tides of multiple market volatilities and cycles, before it starts to generate sustainable, significant returns. Goel believes that while the new vehicle segment is a good space to enter, the competition here is going to be stiff. Customer actual response in terms of sales is yet uncertain. "We recommend a buy on dips on this stock. An entry level of Rs 100 would be good point for purchase. It should be kept for the long-term, for a period of at least 3-5 years for realization of its potential"

Shares of Ola Electric have tapered down from their record-highs. Is this a good time to buy in?

The past few months at <keyword id="19956271" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola-Electric-Mobility" source="keywords">Ola Electric Mobility</keyword> have been very eventful and happening. First came the company's <keyword id="19898327" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IPO" source="keywords">IPO</keyword> between August 2nd and 6th, looking to raise Rs 6,154 crore, which was oversubscribed around 4.45 times. The company listed on both BSE and NSE on August 9th, 2024, i.e. last Friday, and soared around 20% over its IPO price on its debut, trading at Rs 91.2 on NSE, up from its IPO price of Rs 76. At present, the company's stock is trading at Rs 133.08 on NSE, skyrocketing the company's total market capitalization to Rs 58,699 crore, as of August 16th, 2024. This also comes on the back of a slew of new electric motorbikes announced by the company yesterday, along with receiving a "buy" recommendation from brokerage house HSBC, which gave it a price target of Rs 140, and deemed it to be an opportunity "worth investing in", despite not being overly enthusiastic on India's EV penetration scene. Per the report, "EV manufacturing costs might fall significantly by FY27/28, while that for ICE scooters may go up due to emission standards, the cost to manufacture (BOM) an e2W may come down by Rs 30,000-40,000. This would make EVs competitive with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters even without subsidies, which we assume will fall from Rs 40,000 to Rs 10,000 over the same period". However, as the broker cautioned, this would not be without its share of challenges, which include intense competition from their petrol and diesel driven counterparts, uncertain regulatory environment, in-house battery manufacturing risks, slow EV penetration in India, which happens to be the world's second-largest two wheeler market, and more. Says Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, "Despite receiving demand well below the street's expectation, <keyword id="6354720" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola" source="Orion">OLA</keyword> listed well above street expectations, which can be attributed to market mood. Post listing, the short term view remain same due to weak financials and risk of negative cash flows in future and allotted investors should understand the risk before holding, which could adversely impact its consolidated financial condition post listing. Considering all the factors, we advise only risk taking investors to continue to hold with a minimum holding period of 2-3 years. If the stock is available well below its issue price, we recommend risk taking investors to accumulate on every dip, and to be part of 2-3 years of its journey. The long term story is intact, but we may see a lot of ups and downs in the short term". <h2>New bikes in pipeline </h2> Yesterday, <keyword id="19897349" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ola-electric" source="keywords">Ola Electric</keyword> announced the launch of Roadster electric motorcycle, which will be available in three variants, namely Roadster, Roadster X and <keyword id="22807137" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="roadster-pro" source="keywords">Roadster Pro</keyword>. In addition to this, the company also teased the launch of three of its upcoming bikes, namely Diamondhead, Adventure and Cruiser, which will start retailing at Rs 1,50,000 and are expected to be launched in October 2024. also announced that its 4680 Battery Cell, also popularly known as the Bharat Cell, will be integrated with all of Ola's own vehicles starting Q1FY26. The cell, he claims, will be the "5G of cells". Per Agrawal, it will offer 5x energy, and will also charge 1.5x faster. <h2> </h2><h2>Financials paint an inspiring picture </h2>As of June 30th, 2024, the company's total income zoomed 34.32% year-on-year to touch Rs 1,718 crore. This is also an uptick from its deliveries made during Q4FY24, which stood at 1,25,198. A point of concern, however, was the company's short-term operational efficiency, generally reflected by its EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) margins. While it is no secret that Ola has a very long way to go before it can achieve sustained profitability, its EBITDA margins significantly shrunk from a negative of 7.4% in Q4FY24, to just 2% for the quarter ended June 30th, 2024.
