Eagle eyed fans of the franchise noticed the painting appearing in the opening moments of the film's trailer, which was launched last week. "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" was itself a sequel to filmmaker Priyadarshan's 2007 movie "Bhool Bhulaiyaa", a psychological comedy, starring Kumar and Vidya Balan. For Bazmee, "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" was a perfect movie and he deliberately decided to take a different route for its sequel. "I loved the first film, which was directed by Priyadarshan. Everything about it was great. I didn't want to create anything too similar to that film because it was so beautifully done, and people have fond memories of it. I didn't want to touch that legacy," he said. The filmmaker said he wanted to explore the horror genre for a long time. "Having already made a film in the psychological thriller space, 'Deewangee', which featured a character with a split personality, I didn't want to repeat myself by working in that genre again. "That's when I decided to take the horror-comedy route. Growing up, I heard many horror stories in my village, and I've always been intrigued by the genre. I wanted to create a horror film that could also be enjoyed by kids. So the goal was to make a film that would make people laugh while also scaring them," Bazmee said. She did such a brilliant job that people still talk about both the film and her portrayal of the character. When I discussed the idea with others, including the actors, the rest of the team, and even my assistant, everyone was as excited as kids. They all said that the combination of Vidya and Madhuriji would work wonders. The excitement was shared by everyone involved," he said, adding that he initially narrated the story briefly to both actors to gauge their reactions. When the two stars showed interest in the project, he gave them a full narration, Bazmee said. "By the end of it, they both liked the story and their characters. They were very excited about the film, and that excitement continues till date," he added. If there is a fourth part in the franchise, Bazmee said he is totally ready to bring back Kumar from the original. "Why not? Main toh chahta hoon ki Akshay ji kare. I have a great rapport with Akshay, and if something like this happens, it will be a double delight for both us and the audience," he added. Bazmee, also known for directing entertainers such as "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha", "No Entry", "Singh is Kinng" and "Ready", said the success of "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" proved that the primary requirement of the audience is simply entertainment. Friday the 13th! A joyous 'Bhai Dooj' for India, but a 'haunted' day for the West

New clothes, delicious sweets, crackers and some quality time with family and loved ones – this is what marks <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="100" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword> for us Indians. Having spent years lighting diyas and making rangolis, we all know the underlying reason for the massive celebrations that await the country as the festival of lights approaches. While reasons for some of the rituals followed during the festive season are known to everyone, certain others are done blindly with an acceptance that it may be a part of the way society has celebrated this festival since time immemorial. These are two well-known festivals that even a kid raised in an Indian family would know about. Dhanteras is a popular tradition to purchase utensils, electronics and gold jewellery. On Bhai Dooj, sisters give special gifts to their brothers and pray for their well-being and long life. We all know that, yes. But did you know, these smaller events are actually a part of Diwali. Diwali is not a one-day festival. It’s actually a five-day long festival beginning with Dhanteras (Festival of Wealth), Naraka Chaturdasi (Day before Diwali also called Choti Diwali), Amavasya (New moon), Kartika Shuddha Padyami (Day after Diwali) and Bhai Dooj (ritual commemorating brother-sister relationships). 
 
Worshipping only <keyword id="462664" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Goddess-Lakshmi">Goddess Lakshmi</keyword> on Diwali 
 
For years, we have stood in front of idols with folded hands on the festival of lights. By now, we know that Goddess Lakshmi is the show stealer but do we know why? Lakshmi Puja is performed on the following day of Amavasya, the new moon night. It is widely believed that Goddess Lakshmi’s destroyer form (marak form) is active on this day and she is in search of the cleanest house to bring an end to all negative energies and offer blessings of fortune and prosperity to the family. It is precisely this reason why a broom is kept when prayers are done and the house doors are left open to welcome the goddess. 
 
Cleaning the house before Diwali 
 
Just as mentioned above, mythology suggests goddess Lakshmi enters only the cleanest houses to give her blessings. That’s why you hear mothers hyperventilating looking at that dust-laced furniture and cloth-laden bed boxes! How will the goddess touch upon you with all that dirt! 
 
Lighting Diyas: 
 
Yes, it is to celebrate the homecoming of Shri Ram, but that’s not it! Goddess Lakshmi is believed to enter not only the cleanest, but also the brightest house. 
 
Making rangoli 
 
Rangoli is preferably smeared at the main entrance of the house in the form of both - a belief and a custom. They beautify the entrances in the houses, but are also believed to keep bad spirits at bay as well as curb negativity. It further attracts wealth, happiness as well as prosperity into the house. 
 
Playing Tambola/card games 
 
It’s not just for fun, there’s mythological significance to this. Firstly, playing card games during Diwali is believed to bring good luck and prosperity in the year ahead. But it is also believed that Goddess Parvati played dice with her husband Lord Shiva on this day. Elated with her victory, she announced that whoever gambled on Diwali night would mint wealth throughout the year. As Goddess Lakshmi is an incarnation of Parvati, she visits earth to bestow pecuniary benefits on anyone found gambling.

Govardhan Puja is an important event celebrated on the fourth day of the five day long Diwali festival. In 2019, Govardhan Puja falls on Monday, October 28. The line of events during the Diwali festival include Dhanteras, Chhoti Diwali, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj starting from Friday, October 25, 2019 and concluding on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Govardhan Puja timing Govardhan Puja Muhurat on Monday, October 28, 2019 is from 3:36 pm to 5:51 pm with a duration of 2 hours 14 minutes. Origin of Govardhan Puja Govardhan Puja has its roots in the age of Dwapar during Krishnavatar. When little Krishna grew up in the village of Gokul, he initiated Govardhan Puja in order to pay tribute to the Govardhan hill, the small hillock of the village that provided nourishment to the cows of the village and some essentials for the village households. Govardhan Puja story During those days, the people in the village of Gokul performed elaborate pujas to please Indra, the king of gods. Krishna advised the villagers to worship the Govardhan hill instead of Indra as the hill was highly supporting their lives and provided nourishment to the cows. Seeing the villagers neglect him and worship the Govardhan hill, Indra got angry and showered torrential rains on the village of Gokul. Krishna saves the village The village folks and cattle could not bear the torrential downfall. In order to save them, Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan hill and held it like an umbrella over all of them for a period of seven days. Indra realized he will never be able to win Krishna who was verily the avatar of Lord Vishnu finally got humbled and spared the village. Annakoot puja The villagers prepared elaborate foods consisting of about 56 items called as Chappan Bhog and offered to little Krishna who neither ate nor slept over the seven days while holding the hill to protect the villagers and cattle. This event gave rise to the ritual known as Annakoot puja which is performed on the day of Govardhan puja. People prepare a lot of dishes and worship Krishna on this day. You can also make the image of Govardhan hill in clay or cow dung. Offer sugarcane, peda, badasha and others to the Govardhan hill to start the puja. Light the lamp and offer roli and tilak. Leave a silver coin in the plate. Let someone in the household read the story of Ma Lakshmi. Others must listen to the story with rapt attention. At the end of the story reading, the silver coin must be offered along with sweets and fruits to the person who read the story. It was on this day that Mahavir, the twenty fourth Tirtankar of Jainism attained Nirvana or Moksha in Pawanpuri of Bihar. In the text known as Harivamsha Purana written by Acharya Jinasena, he has mentioned that the Tirtankars decorated the Pavanagiri with lamps to celebrate the occasion. Swetambar Jains observe fasting for three days around this time. Congregational prayers and readings from Mahavira;s teachings are very popular on this day. Few weeks are left for actor <keyword id="7645" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sanjay-Dutt">Sanjay Dutt</keyword>’s release from Pune’s Yerwada jail, where he is serving sentence after he was convicted in 1993 Mumbai blasts case, and legal experts are expecting some sort of a rebound in legal discourse surrounding such cases. 
 
Dutt, who was out on prolonged furloughs during the time he served his sentence in prison from May 2013, will make his way out of the jail for once and for all on February 25 this year. The reason for his release, seven months before the five-year sentence, is cited as ‘good behaviour’ in the jail. 
 
The first course of action has already started rolling out. One of the convicts in former PM Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Perarivalan, has sought to know the grounds of Dutt’s release. He was serving reminiscent prison sentence of 42 months from the time he went behind bars amidst much drama surrounding his return to prison when the sentence was commuted. 
 
Perarivalan has used the Right to Information Act, one of the most democratic weapons Indians have against the lagging administrative and judicial system. Perarivalan is currently lodged in Vellore Central Prison. 
 
Activists are already building arguments around Dutt’s impending release saying ‘good conduct’ is not a ground for release under serious cases such as TADA under which Dutt was jailed. 
 
Though the proposal granting his remittance is yet to be cleared by the Maharashtra government, speculations are rife that the proposal would be given ‘due’ importance and a certain amount of surety will be demanded from Dutt. 
 
An activist Pradeep Bhalekar has filed a PIL in Bombay High Court questioning this step taken by the authorities in Dutt’s case which would send ‘wrong’ message to the society. 
 
Bhalekar claims there are nearly 27,740 prisoners who have been jailed across the state under charges that are lighter than that the actor faces. If they cannot be freed, how was Dutt’s case considered to be above them, and above the law which is deemed to be equal for all? 
 
This would also send somewhat a mixed message to the convicts of various crimes that no matter how serious the crime is, one can supersede the law using the same contexts that set the stage for their arrest and conviction. 
 
Meanwhile, Bollywood awaits its Munna Bhai with great anticipation. New scripts, new releases and new stories will hit the screen, adding excitement and some great economy to the biggest employer of this nation—the Bollywood. 
 
The next series of Munna Bhai, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is being planned coinciding with days when the actor turns a free bird. 
 
Bollywood has been in the centre of storm over legalities owing to the huge economical margins they set in motion with their presence on the screen. Their on-screen persona should not influence their off-screen activities, which are sometimes more than questionable. 
 
For instance, when Bollywood actor Salman Khan, considered to be a mega force in the industry, was granted bail soon after his conviction in hit-and-run case, the reaction on social media and the celebration that followed showed societal emotions override all legal modalities when it comes to heroes who are demigods in the country since a long time. 
 
Dutt’s release before time will surely send a mixed bag of signals to the society on this front. On the other hand, should a man/actor/celebrity be dealt more sternly than required just because of his personality being in the public eye? This is another question that would haunt the society in some ways, which would disturb the equilibrium of the law as well. 
 
Should Dutt complete the sentence, foregoing all the privileges that have been granted by the law to all citizens? What would then be the incentive for a convicted person to go on the path of reformation and regret should he be kept out from this provision? 
 
It is a well established fact that while Dutt serves his sentence in the prison, has always maintained good relations with his fellow prison mates and has show exemplary behavior that can set the stage for a lot of people to emulate his conduct while they bow before the verdict of law. 
With that, the question remains. Should he, or shouldn’t he be released?

Even as consumer companies are battling a slowdown, demand for real estate has not cooled despite rising interest rates. It’s been a great festival season for Mumbai’s real estate developers, which is one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world. As many as 12,602 units were registered between Navratri until Bhai Dooj – that’s October 15-November 15, 2023. It represents a 30% growth over last year’s festival period, as per <keyword id="151748" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="knight-frank-india" source="Orion">Knight Frank India</keyword>. Thanks to as many as 407 units being registered per day, the festive fervour has made the state exchequer richer by ₹1,257 crore. “Mumbai city embraced the auspicious festive period with a remarkable surge in property registrations, reflecting a heightened commitment to high-value investments. As the festive season continues, registration volumes are expected to remain robust, fuelled by favourable market conditions, including moderately increasing property prices and stable policy interest rates,” said Shishir Baijal, Chairman &amp; Managing Director, Knight Frank India. The surge was much expected due to a combination of factors like stable interest rates and the growing love for more spaces. Most experts have been betting on the real estate sector’s prospects this year. They also hope that 2023 as a whole will surpass 2022’s home sales. Moreso, the festive season is key for most developers because a large chunk of home sales take place during the period. “Approximately 40% of residential units sold annually close during the last quarter of the year. According to industry estimates, house sales in 2023 will likely be 20–30% higher than in 2022, given the current holiday season and the fact that sales are already approaching 2022 levels,” said Manju Yagnik, VC of Nahar Group. Anshuman Magazine, Chairman &amp; CEO - India, South-East Asia, Middle East &amp; Africa, CBRE also said that he expects the festive season sales to boost the momentum already seen through 2023. Developers too have been offering schemes and incentives to lure in buyers, especially first-time buyers. “As the residential cycle matures amidst inflationary pressures, we have witnessed increasing demand in the mid-end and premium categories. Conversely, the premium and luxury segment is expected to emerge as a sought-after investment avenue, particularly for HNIs and NRIs seeking to safeguard their investments amid global macroeconomic uncertainties,” said Magazine.
