Veteran French documentary filmmaker <keyword id="427781" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="nicolas-philibert" source="Orion">Nicolas Philibert</keyword> was the surprise winner of the Golden Bear at this year's Berlin Film Festival.<br /><br />He took home the prize for his film 'On the <keyword id="1048408" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="adamant" source="Orion">Adamant</keyword>' which is a poignant observational study of a Paris mental health care facility, reports Variety.<br /><br />He received the award from jury president Kristen <keyword id="122833" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="stewart" source="Orion">Stewart</keyword>, after the star offered an extended and plainly heartfelt ode to the film's humanity and simplicity: "People have gone in circles for thousands of years trying to pin down what can be deemed art, who's allowed to do it and what determines its value," she said, citing the boundary-pushing nature of the festival, and name checking such opposing philosophers on the matter as Aristotle, Barthes, Sontag and Beavis &amp; Butthead, before concluding: "For all of us, you just know it when you see it."<br /><br />Candidly and sometimes humorously surveying the daily routines of The Adamant, a waterborne day-care facility for people with a variety of mental disorders, it speaks not just to cinephiles but to anyone: Like Philibert's 2002 arthouse hit 'Etre et Avoir', a similarly touching, unadorned study of a rural school, it centres on universal values of care and empathy.<br /><br />Visibly stunned, the 72-year-old Frenchman was slightly less lyrical than Stewart when accepting his award.<br /><br />He said, quoted by Variety: "Are you crazy or what?", he addressed the jury, which also included filmmakers Radu Jude, Carla Simon, Johnnie To and Valeska Grisebach, actor Golshifteh Farahani and casting director Francine Maisler.<br /><br />Gathering himself, Philibert professed himself "humbled, proud and deeply moved," describing his film as an effort to reverse public preconceptions of the mentally ill, and reminding us that "the craziest people are not those we think they are."<br /><br />Philibert's film was the only documentary in competition; its win marks the second consecutive triumph for a nonfiction film at one of the three major European festivals, after Laura Poitras' Oscar-nominated 'All the Beauty and the Bloodshed' took the Golden Lion at Venice in September.

Actor <keyword id="62210" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sonakshi-sinha" source="Orion">Sonakshi Sinha</keyword>'s digital debut series "<keyword id="7298691" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="dahaad" source="Orion">Dahaad</keyword>" will premiere on <keyword id="2189512" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="prime-video" source="Orion">Prime Video</keyword> on May 12, the streamer announced Thursday. The crime drama show, directed by Reema <keyword id="1146302" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="kagti" source="Orion">Kagti</keyword> and Ruchika Oberoi, also stars Vijay Verma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah, a press release by Prime Video stated. <br /><br />Created by Kagti and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, the eight-episode series had its world premiere at the 2023 edition of the Berlinale International Film Festival in February. <br /><br />Sinha essays the role of <keyword id="16079747" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="anjali-bhaati" source="Orion">Anjali Bhaati</keyword> (Sinha), a sub-inspector, who along with her colleagues, tries to solve a gruesome murder case, with an unsuspecting criminal on the loose. <br /><br />"It all starts when a series of women are mysteriously found dead in public bathrooms, sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati is tasked with the investigation. Berliners, we're all Africans really."</p><p>Streep is leading the seven-member jury for the first time, and though she offered the above response for the question, she did say she is committed to including members <span>"of all genders, races, ethnicities, religions."</span></p><p>"This jury is evidence that at least women are included and in fact dominate this jury, and that's an unusual situation in bodies of people who make decisions," she said. "So I think the Berlinale is ahead of the game."</p><p>The Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 11 through February 21.</p><p><span>The lack of diversity in the film industry is not a new topic of discussion, and backlash to the all-white acting nominee field at the Oscars this year has spurred a large debate. As for an ideal entry point, history suggests that gold could eventually retest its lows this cycle, around $1,050 per ounce."</p><p>LaForge is of the opinion that commodities <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/bank-of-america-note-on-commodities-cycle-2016-4">operate in super-cycles</a>, decade-plus bull and bear markets as long-term <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/macquarie-chart-on-the-commodity-cycle-2016-6">supply and demand structures shift</a>. As with the downturn in the 1980s, this super-cycle began with a leg down for precious metals, then food prices, and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-end-of-oil-as-we-know-it-2016-4">now finally oil</a>. Here's LaForge (emphasis added):</p><p style="padding-left: 30px;">"For those spooked by the idea of a 20-year commodity bear market, there is some good news as we begin 2016. <strong>Our research suggests that most of the price damage is typically done within the first five years of the bear.</strong> After year five, many commodities begin closing in on their ultimate bottoms. Bottoms are then followed by many years of range-bound prices. We call this sideways price action the "commodity healing process." The healing process averages 15 years (20 year average bear minus the first five years of falling prices), because the excesses generated during the commodity bull super-cycle are great."</p><p>Therefore, since gold started to fall in 2011, investors should expect that most of the damage has been done by now.</p><p>The recent rally may be a bit of false hope that gold could recover it's loses from the past few years, but LaForge said that there is a good chance the commodity could fall back to its cycle low of $1,050 an ounce.
