New Delhi, Feb 11 () Public sector undertaking BEML on Tuesday reported a 90.8 per cent decline in consolidated profit at Rs 4.24 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2019 due to lower income. The company had posted consolidated profit of Rs 46.20 crore in the year-ago period, BEML said in a regulatory filing. The consolidated income of the company during October-December period dropped to Rs 699.15 crore, from over Rs 926.05 crore in the year-ago period, the filing said. BEML Ltd (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Ltd) was established as a public sector undertaking to manufacture rail coaches and spare parts and mining equipment at its Bengaluru complex. The government owns 54 per cent of the total equity capital of the company, while rest 46 per cent is held by public, financial institutions, foreign institutional investors, banks and employees. BEML serves country's core sectors like defence, rail, power, mining and infrastructure. The company operates under three major business verticals viz, mining and construction, defence and rail and metro. Shares of BEML were trading at Rs 984.75 in afternoon trade on BSE, higher by 2.80 per cent over its previous close. SID DRR

Punjab National Bank Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of ₹1 crore on Punjab National Bank for violating regulatory guidelines. Petronet LNG Petronet LNG has signed a non-binding MoU with the Ministry of Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas with an objective to foray into 'Green Energy and BioFuels' and for setting up of compressed BioGas plants under Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation (SATAT) initiative of the Government. Biocon gains 5% Biocon shares gained nearly 5% after its subsidiary along with Mylan NV, launched an insulin glargine injection Semglee in the US market. The company said ‘Semglee’ has received final approval from the US FDA and has an identical amino acid sequence to Sanofi’s Lantus, a drug that is used to control high blood sugar. Future Retail tumbles 9% Future Retail shares tumbled 9% after the Government Pension Fund Global, one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds sold 95 lakh shares at ₹158.61 per share. The Government Pension Fund Global fund held 2.28% stake in the Future Retail at the end of June. Bharat Earth Movers Ltd and Tata Power The Indian defence ministry sealed a deal with domestic defence majors to procure Pinaka rocket launchers for six Army regiments at the cost of ₹2,580 crore. The deal has been signed with Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL) and engineering major Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) while defence public sector undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) will also be part of the project. A senior IT official said, "There are no searches or raids but we are carrying out limited verification exercise at the offices of the <keyword id="147676" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Larsen">Larsen</keyword> and <keyword id="304986" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Toubro">Toubro</keyword> and Zee group as we had information that they had claimed bogus input tax credit." The official said that it is basically a follow up exercise and there is limited action on both the groups. "We are covering these group and the companies related to these groups on account of this bogus input taxes," the official added. The official, however, refused to share the details of the offices where the verification process is being carried out. New Delhi, Mar 12 () As the market rout continued, as many as 1,180 stocks, including Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services and HDFC Bank, touched their 52-week low levels on Thursday. Despite this, shares of 13 companies, including Ruchi Soya Industries and Apollo Finvest (India) Ltd, managed to make gains and hit 52-week high levels on the BSE. After nosediving over 3,204.30 points during the day, the BSE's benchmark Sensex settled 2,919.26 points or 8.18 per cent lower at 32,778.14 as the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on global markets. "Recession fears increased after WHO declared coronavirus a pandemic which forced investors to sell-off risky assets. Fresh travel bans across nations is contributing to the fears that economic impact will be much larger than earlier estimates," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services. Apart from RIL, TCS and HDFC Bank, shares of Hero MotoCorp, GAIL, ACC, ABB, BEML, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Gillette, also featured among those that touched their 52-week low levels on BSE. Besides, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, Bank of Baroda, BHEL, HDFC, HCL Technologies and Aurobindo Pharma also hit their 52-week low levels. SP RUJRVK

RIL, TCS, HDFC Bank among 1,180 stocks to hit 52-week low

Indian markets brushed aside the tepid Railway Budget presented by Minister Suresh Prabhu and continued their downward trajectory as analysts were unable to find anything bullish for stocks at first glance. 
 
The Nifty crashed below the crucial 7,000-point support in afternoon trade and quoted at 6,976, down 41 points. The end of the monthly expiry of derivatives contracts also put intense pressure on stocks. 
 
Analysts said the budget's targets looked ambitious against the backdrop of meagre revenue picture of the Railways. 
 
Meanwhile, Prabhu told Parliament the Railways had planned for the following goals in the year to March 2017: 
 
* Operating Ratio of 92 percent. 
* Capacity expansion plan of 1.21 lakh crore rupees. 
* Life Insurance Corp to invest 1.5 lakh crore rupees in Railways over 5 years. 
* Track electrification of 2,000 km. 
* To set up 2 locomotive factories with an order book of 40,000 crore rupees. 
* Two new freight corridors to be set up 
* To lay more emphasis on existing corridors being constructed. 
* Announced 44 new projects 
* Prabhu remained quiet on a possible hike in passenger fares. 
 
Stocks of companies dealing with the Railways across its spectrum fell sharply. Wagon makers Titagarh, Kalindee and Tex Rail dropped 5 percent each. Electrical equipment makers Siemens and BEML edged lower. Railway Infrastructure providers GMR Infra and Lanco Infratech slipped in trade as well.

The core group of secretaries on disinvestment— all finance ministry secretaries, corporate affairs secretary and law secretary— is likely to meet today (October 28) and discuss the proposed stake sale in Air India by the Indian government. It will be the group's second meeting this month. The Narendra Modi government is striving to sell Air India to a private player after failing to find a bidder in its previous term. Recently, the cabinet approved new process for strategic disinvestment making possible stakeholder consultation before inviting bids. So far, the strategic disinvestment process didn't allow for stakeholder consultation before the government issued EOI. Today's meeting could move towards the next step of Expression of Interest (EoI) draft of Air India, sources told IANS. Air India's total debt stands at around ₹58,000 crore and cumulative loss, ₹70,000 crore. In the financial year ending March 31, 2019, the airline is estimated to have reported a loss of ₹7,600 crore. At the earlier meeting, the group of top bureaucrats cleared strategic sale in Bharat Petroleum Corporation of India (BPCL), Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), BEML and Container Corporation of India, and also discussed the EoIs for Air India. Stake sales in two power PSUs —THDC India and Neepco — were also approved. These two PSUs could be taken over by state-run NTPC.
