He is a very good man."</p><p>TMZ later added an editor's note saying that its correspondent was "initially told by ... sources the alleged victim was Avenatti's estranged wife," and that it had in fact "involved a different woman."</p><p>The allegation against Avenatti, a prospective candidate in the 2020 US presidential election, has already shaken some Democrats. Swetnick alleges Kavanaugh and a friend, Mark Judge, engaged in <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/julie-swetnick-brett-kavanaugh-accuser-michael-avenatti-interview-2018-9">"abusive and physically aggressive behavior toward girls"</a>&#xa0;at parties in high school and were present at a party where she was "gang raped."&#xa0;</span></p><p><span>Avenatti on Monday told Business Insider the Trump administration is "afraid" of what his client might say if she's interviewed by the FBI.&#xa0;</span><span></span></p><p><span>"The investigation is a farce and is being run by Donald Trump," Avenatti said. "They obviously are afraid of what my client might say, which is why they are avoiding her. There are many witnesses that can support her allegations and we are prepared to provide those names to the FBI as we have been saying for a week."</span></p><h2><span>'The FBI should do what they have to do to get to the answer'</span></h2><p><span>Trump on Monday said it "wouldn't bother" him at all if the FBI questioned all three women who've accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, but he also described Swetnick as having "very little credibility."</span></p><p><span>"The FBI should do what they have to do to get to the answer," Trump said. "I want it to be comprehensive."</span></p><p><span>Trump also said he's being "guided" by senators on who should be looked at by investigators.&#xa0;</span></p><p>Avenatti dismissed Trump's comments and claimed both Senate Republicans and the president are preventing the investigation from being truly comprehensive.&#xa0;</p><p><span>"Trump is talking out of both sides of his mouth - it's part of the con he is running," Avenatti said.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span>Avenatti, who has repeatedly butted heads with Trump over his representation of adult-film star Stormy Daniels, also said that people have been paying too much attention to one aspect of Swetnick's <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/michael-avenatti-julie-swetnick-client-brett-kavanaugh-sexual-misconduct-2018-9">sworn declaration on the allegations</a> and aren't getting the full picture.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span>"People need to read the entirety of her declaration and not just focus on paragraph 13," Avenatti said.&#xa0;</span></p><p><span>Avenatti was referencing the section of the sworn declaration that details the night Swetnick claims she was raped. In both instances, the women claim he was intoxicated.</li><li>Kavanaugh denies the allegations.</li></ul><p>Judge Brett Kavanaugh's alleged past as a hard-partying high schooler and college student are at issue after two women accused President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee of sexual misconduct during his years at Georgetown Preparatory School and Yale University.</p><p>Among the evidence some are pointing to that Kavanaugh and his friends at the elite all-boys high school participated in an alcohol-soaked party culture are references on Kavanaugh's senior class <a href="https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/9/19/1797081/-Kavanaugh-Yearbook-Boasts-Devil-s-Triangle-slang-for-Threesome-Between-Two-Men-and-One-Woman">yearbook page</a>, which includes a blurb mentioning "Keg City Club (Treasurer) - 100 Kegs or Bust" and "Devil's Triangle" - slang for sex between two men and a woman.</p><p><a href="https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/brett-kavanaugh-high-school-yearbook-raises-new-questions-about-supreme-court-nominee/65-595626391" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WUSA, a DC-area CBS affiliate, obtained a copy of the yearbook</a> from an attorney representing a woman who brought it to light after&#xa0;Christine Blasey Ford publicly accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.</p><p>Ford, now a professor of psychology, alleges that Kavanaugh forced himself on her, locked her in a room, groped her, and covered her mouth to mask her screams during a drunken house party when she was 15 and he was 17.&#xa0;Ford is&#xa0;set to testify in open court&#xa0;about her claim on Thursday.</p><p>On Sunday, The New Yorker <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/senate-democrats-investigate-a-new-allegation-of-sexual-misconduct-from-the-supreme-court-nominee-brett-kavanaughs-college-years-deborah-ramirez">published&#xa0;an allegation</a> from a former Yale University classmate of Kavanaugh's, Deborah Ramirez, who claims he exposed himself to her without her consent at a dorm-room party during the 1983-84 school year.</p><p>Kavanaugh has categorically denied both Ramirez and Ford's allegations.</p><p>"This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so," he said in response to The New Yorker story on Sunday. "This is a smear, plain and simple. I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth."</p><p>Attorney Michael Avenatti <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/michael-avenatti-brett-kavanaugh-2018-9">said in an email</a> to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Sunday that he has "significant evidence" that Kavanaugh, his Georgetown Prep friend Mark Judge, and others plied women with alcohol and drugs "in order to allow a 'train' of men to subsequently gang rape them" during house parties in high school.</p><p>Avenatti <a href="https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/23/second-woman-assault-kavanaugh-837678">elaborated to Politico</a> later on Sunday that he represents a group of people, including one victim and multiple witnesses, who can corroborate allegations involving Kavanaugh and Judge. Judge had previously denied knowledge of Ford's allegation.</p><p>The attorney, who also represents adult film star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump, suggested that another cryptic term on Kavanaugh's yearbook page is a sexually explicit reference.</p><p>"Brett Kavanaugh must also be asked about this entry in his yearbook: 'FFFFFFFourth of July,'" Avenatti <a href="https://twitter.com/MichaelAvenatti/status/1044056219084828672">tweeted</a> Sunday night. "Significant questions remain."</p><p>Last week, Avenatti published a pair of emails between Cohen and Davidson exchanged last month.</p><p><a href="https://twitter.com/MichaelAvenatti/status/994568990264619008" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In one email</a>, Cohen messaged Davidson just days after the FBI raids to say he "lost all my contacts as I had to get a new phone."</p><p>"Please send me all your contact info," Cohen wrote, adding, "Let me know how you want to communicate."</p><p>In the second email, which was sent from Cohen to Davidson in February, Cohen writes that it is his "understanding that Ms. Clifford has or is seeking the advice of additional counsel regarding the above matter," referring to Daniels' real name, Stephanie Clifford.</p><p>Cohen added that Davidson "under no circumstances should forward" certain information he described in the email to anyone without Cohen's written consent.</p><p>Avenatti <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5714461/Now-Avenatti-gotten-hold-Michael-Cohens-emails.html#ixzz5FCgouqIL" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told The Daily Mail</a> that he "demanded" the emails from Davidson when asked how he obtained them. Davidson did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider for this story.</p><h2>'He's in a hell of a pickle'</h2><p>That's what Mitchell Epner,&#xa0;<span>a former assistant US attorney for the District of New Jersey and an attorney at Rottenberg Lipman Rich, told Business Insider of Davidson. </span></p><p><span>"</span>As an attorney, you have a duty to be a zealous advocate for your client, and if what's been alleged by Avenatti is true and Davidson and Cohen were colluding to sell out Stephanie Clifford to have Davidson pocket a very large sum, that is taking your law license in your hands," he said.</p><p>Davidson previously denied any insinuation of unethical or inappropriate behavior. An attorney must disclose any such conflict to a client.&#xa0;</p><p></p><div class="KonaFilter image-container display-table float_right"><div><div class="image on-image"></div><p></p></div></div>Davidson was contacted by federal investigators as a part of the Southern District of New York's ongoing criminal probe into Cohen, who has not been charged with a crime. A spokesman for Davidson, Dave Wedge, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/stormy-danielss-former-lawyer-said-to-be-cooperating-with-federal-probe-of-michael-cohen/2018/04/20/3011745e-44ae-11e8-baaf-8b3c5a3da888_story.html?utm_term=.a27945b24687" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told The Washington Post</a> that the attorney was asked to provide "certain limited electronic information" to investigators.<p>"He has done so and will continue to cooperate to the fullest extent possible under the law," Wedge told The Post in a statement.</p><p>Avenatti has zeroed in on the attorney in recent weeks, culminating with his publishing of Cohen's recent email correspondence with Davidson.</p><p>"I don't think there's any question that the relationship between Keith Davidson and Michael Cohen was not arm's length," Avenatti said on NBC's "Meet the Press" earlier this month. "It's unclear as to exactly how close they were. But that was not a traditional relationship among two adversaries."</p><h2>Davidson denies he worked to bolster Cohen's interests over his clients'</h2><p>Davidson <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/04/politics/stormy-daniels-karen-mcdougal-deals-keith-davidson-invs/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gave an extensive interview with CNN</a> last month, in which he said he believes Daniels and McDougal were telling the truth about their alleged affairs with Trump. But he said the details of the deals he helped negotiate have not been fully disclosed.</p><p>During that interview, which took place just days before the Cohen raids, Davidson said he was contacted by Cohen, who encouraged him to reveal what he knew about Daniels and McDougal and their agreements.</p><p>"He suggested that it would be appropriate for me to go out into the media and spill my guts," Davidson said, before saying that an ethics attorney told him it would not be wise.</p><p>"I read each of the ladies' complaints and pleadings. ... The recitation of the facts that are contained within those pleadings I do not agree with, and I look forward to an opportunity in an appropriate forum to discuss them," Davidson said.&#xa0;</p><p>Davidson's law license was suspended twice within the past decade: Once for 90-days by the State Bar of California for four counts of misconduct in three separate cases, the other for nine days after he failed to pay bar membership fees.&#xa0;</p><p>Of that first suspension, Davidson told CNN he "was spread a little too thin."</p><p>In 2011, Davidson represented Daniels in her effort to have details of her alleged Trump affair removed from a gossip website called TheDirty.com.
