New Delhi [India], August 12 (ANI): <keyword id="19953789" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Madras" source="keywords">IIT Madras</keyword> has been ranked the <keyword id="19925221" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="best" source="keywords">best</keyword> <keyword id="22759867" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="higher-educational-institution" source="keywords">higher educational institution</keyword> in <keyword id="19895063" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="India" source="keywords">India</keyword> followed by IISc Bengaluru and IIT Bombay in an overall category in the ranking conducted by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Education at an event at the Bharat Mandapam in the national capital that was presided by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Indian Institute of Technology Madras was ranked first in the <keyword id="22759868" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NIRF-rankings" source="keywords">NIRF rankings</keyword> 2024 and it is the 6th time that it has bagged the top spot in NIRF ranking. IIT-Madras has also been ranked as the best engineering college for the past nine years. In the management category, IIM-Ahmedabad and Bangalore and Calcutta are among the top five. Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru) ranked as the best university in the country followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia. Delhi University's Hindu College ranked as the best college in the country followed by Miranda House College and St. Stephen's College. The Chennai-based institute retained the No 1 position in categories "overall and engineering" The NIRF rankings lists was released for 13 different categories, including universities, colleges, research institutions, engineering, management, pharmacy, medical, dental, law, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation. IIT Madras ranked best higher educational institution in India

"Under his leadership, India took many leaps in the field of Innovation. ARIIA gives us a reflection of our efforts and provides us with a reason to celebrate our achievements. A National Research Foundation (NRF) will be set up for invigorating innovation and research under recently released Nation Education Policy (NEP)," he said. The minister said this year, the category of women only higher educational institutions was introduced to encourage women and bringing gender parity in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women bagged the top prize in the category. Releasing the ranking, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, "Innovation has always been key defining feature of human progress. India has its own illustrious history of innovations spanning at least 20 centuries right from the invention of 'zero' and the decimal system. India was known as the 'vishwa guru'. We must regain that intellectual leadership, we must again emerge as a global hub of learning and innovation." "We have highly talented youths brimming with new ideas, with a passion for implementation and willingness to forge a new path. The youth will define our country's future. They need encouragement, facilitation and recognition, they must be given needed guidance and freedom to explore new frontiers," Naidu added.

IISc is now the world's second best research institute: QS University Rankings

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is expected to release the <keyword id="116242" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="admit-cards">admit cards</keyword> for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 today i.e January 3, 2020. Applicants can download the admit cards from the official website at gate.iitd.ac.in. IIT-Delhi initiated the registration process on September 3 and the examination will be held on four dates — February 1,2,8 and 9 — in 2020. Over 800,000 candidates applied for the GATE examination this year. The exam will be held in eight sessions — including two sessions each for Civil and Mechanical engineering examinations. Shark Tank India S2’s sharks: Meet the serial investors, CAs, and IIT, IIM alumni

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here is going to set up a <keyword id="6422364" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="space-technology">space technology</keyword> cell in collaboration with the <keyword id="116095" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Space-Research-Organisation">Indian Space Research Organisation</keyword> (ISRO). The announcement was made on Friday by IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao, a day ahead of the varsity's 50th annual convocation where ISRO Chief K Sivan will be the chief guest. "IIT Delhi is going to set up a space technology centre in collaboration with ISRO to contribute to the space technology research," Rao told reporters. With the move, IIT Delhi will join the league of other premiere institutions like IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee where the Space Technology Cells (STCs) have been set up to play a major role in taking up the space technology research and applications to the newer heights.

IISc is placed in the 152th position while IIT Delhi secured 185th rank. Other IITs like, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharaqpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati are included in the top 500 in the rankings. 
 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, <keyword id="101399" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Stanford-University">Stanford University</keyword>, <keyword id="97117" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Harvard-University">Harvard University</keyword>, University of Cambridge and California Institute of Technology gained top five positions in the rankings. 
 In Engineering and Technology Degrees subject category, India is represented by 6 institutes in top 150 with five IITs and IISc. In top 50 Asian universities, five Indian institutes are listed in which IISc ranked 33 and rest are IITs (IIB, IITD, IITM and IITK). In Arts and Humanities subject category, DU is placed in 210th position with <keyword id="6360386" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jawaharlal-Nehru">Jawaharlal Nehru</keyword> University (JNU) in 247th position. In Social sciences, DU and JNU are in Top 400.

Recently, home rental startup Nestaway too said that it will enter the segment. Stanza Living is another player who has been catering to this segment for the last two years. According to a report released today by Student Accommodation Provider Association of India (SAPFI) and CBRE, the student housing sector will attract as much as $700 million investment and add 600,000 beds by 2023.

Samsung is planning to hire students from multiple streams including computer science, electronics and communications, electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, instrumentation and information technology to support its efforts to build innovative solutions for India-specific challenges. “As businesses continue to expand and grow, we will be hiring 1000 plus engineers for our R&amp;D [research and development] centres from top notch engineering colleges. These engineers will work at our R&amp;D centres located in Bangalore, Delhi and Noida,” said <keyword id="1072012" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="sameer-wadhawan" source="Orion">Sameer Wadhawan</keyword>, senior vice president and head of human resources at <keyword id="107877" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="samsung-india" source="Orion">Samsung India</keyword> in an interaction with Business Insider. He said, “One-fourth (260) engineers will be coming from all IITs and the balance would be coming from other tier one schools.” When asked about the average salary package, which the company will be offering to their new employees, Wadhawan said, “We are offering a very competitive compensation [when] hiring from campuses. That is why we are able to hire more than 1000 plus engineers year after year”. Samsung had hired 1200 engineers in 2019 as well from these top colleges, but they joined the company in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason behind this massive hiring was its main agenda to strengthen their R&amp;D centres. “This is part of our continued growth and expansion plans in India. For us R&amp;D has been on the front. We opened our first R&amp;D centre in India in 1996 in Bengaluru, and a factory in the same year. This shows our commitment to the Indian market and India-related product and talent,” Wadhawan added. The smartphone maker company witnessed a high attrition rate in the last couple of months. “Attrition rate is slightly higher than usual and it is more to do with the simple demand and supply issue, also there are so many tech jobs available, but the situation is not alarming for us”, he said. Attrition rate, also known as churn rate is the rate at which employees leave the company and is often calculated as an annual figure. Samsung, in their third quarter results which came out in October, reported a 28% increase in their operating profit from its previous quarter. Samsung to hire over 1000 engineers in India this year from top engineering colleges like IITs and BITS, Pilani

<keyword id="6356755" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT-Madras">IIT Madras</keyword> has been picked as India's best engineering college by Smriti Irani's Ministry of Human Resource and Development. 
 
The announcement was made on Monday under National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) – a first-of-its-kind indigenous ranking framework for higher education institutions. 
 
IIT Madras topped the list followed by IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur. 
 <keyword id="60501" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIM-Bangalore">IIM Bangalore</keyword> was declared the best management institute followed by IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta as the first and second runner up respectively. 
 
The top 3 in Pharmacy were announced in this order: MCOPS (Manipal), UIPS (Chandigarh) and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi as the top 3 in this segment. 
 Then came the top 3 in Universities Category where IISc Bangalore topped the list followed by Institute of Chemical Technology and <keyword id="6356383" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="JNU">JNU</keyword> ranked third. 
 The report by Smriti Irani's department - <keyword id="3309858" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="India-Rankings-2016">India Rankings 2016</keyword> - seeks to "empower students and parents" while creating healthy competition among educational institutes, the ministry said. 
 
The rankings -which cover government and private institutions -have been released ahead of the next academic year which starts in the summer for college students.
