The surface-to-surface ballistic missile has a range of 1000 to 2000 km, it said. Balasore (Odisha), May 19 () An elderly man and his daughter-in-law were electrocuted in their house at a village in Odishas Balasore district on Tuesday, police said. The 65-year-old man of Nadigaon village in Balasore Sadar police station area was repairing electrical wirings in his house when he got electrocuted, they said. His daughter-in-law also met with the same fate while trying to save him, police said, adding that both died on the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said. CORR SKN SOM SOM

Seven persons, six of whom recently returned from Gujarat and <keyword id="6357783" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="West-bengal">West Bengal</keyword>, tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha on Tuesday, taking the number of cases in the state to 176, an official said.The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 115. Of the seven new cases, three hailed from Balasore, one from Ganjam, one from Rourkela in <keyword id="1226460" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sundergarh-district">Sundergarh district</keyword>, one from Jajpur district and another from Cuttack district, the official said. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="75551525" title="Indian-American researcher identifies 4 possible treatments for COVID-19" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> The latest case was detected in Jajpur district with a 58 year-old man who returned from Kolkata testing positive. In Rourkela in Sundergarh district, a 49-year-old man tested positive for the deadly virus after he returned from Kolkata. The new cases in Cuttack and Ganjam districts are of two people who recently returned from Surat in Gujarat. Cuttack district had last reported a COVID-19 case on April 3 while Ganjam falls in the orange zone. In <keyword id="1008944" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Balasore-district">Balasore district</keyword>, the three new patients comprised two men aged 50 and 26 years and a 40-year-old woman. The two men had recently returned from West Bengal. Contact tracing and follow-up actions are being undertaken in the three districts, the official said. A total of 3,535 samples were tested for COVID-19 in Odisha on Monday, the highest in a day in the state, the official said. The Health Department has tested 44,663 samples so far. Jajpur district has reported the maximum number of cases, followed by <keyword id="50863" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bhubaneswar">Bhubaneswar</keyword> in Khurda district at 47, Balasore 24, Bhadrak 21 and Sundergarh 12.  The missile’s successful life extension test makes BrahMos the <a href="http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2018/may/21/odisha-first-test-of-supersonic-cruise-missile-brahmos-with-life-extension-technology-successful-1817530.html">first weapon</a> in India’s arsenal that got its life extended from 10 years to 15 years. It managed to take off successfully and hit the designated target while meeting all parameters of the mission. In simple terms, its accuracy is its unique feature. Other than the missile’s life being extended, its range was also extended from 290 km to 450 km. It should also be noted that though BrahMos is the fastest ‘supersonic’ missile, the <a href="http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/why-china-russia-america-are-obsessed-hypersonic-weapons-25635">Zircon missile</a> can travel at hypersonic speeds and is already a part of the Russian military might. That being said, the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/defense/2017-04-25/russia-and-india-test-hypersonic-and-supersonic-missiles">BrahMos 2</a> will be based on the design of the Zircon missile. It’s already in the works under a collaboration between India and <keyword id="6358826" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Russia">Russia</keyword>. The estimation is that this missile will be able to travel at the speed of Mach 7.
