measures to boost ethanol production In an effort to reduce import of petroleum products, the government has been encouraging farmers to produce ethanol that can be blended with petrol and used as a fuel in vehicles. Also, the centre has advised auto makers to manufacture flex fuel vehicles that are capable of running on both ethanol-based fuel and petrol. Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, BMW and Mercedes have been told to make vehicles that can run on ethanol based fuel, said Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in an Agro-Vision event in Nagpur this week while encouraging farmers to grow more sugarcane plants. <div type="javascript" title="Custom" contenttype="Image"><cdata><![CDATA[ ]]></cdata></div>The move is in line with the government’s target to reduce the carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030. Analysts say sugar industry has a long way to go Sugar industry in India is expected to grow by 6-7% in the years 2021-2022 due to growth in exports of sugar and ethanol, said Manoj Dalmia, founder and director, Proficient equities. “Exports taking place from India will rise as Brazil is facing weather changes impacting crops. India is to register exports of around 4-6 million tonnes for (sugar 2022). Government plans 20% ethanol blending by 2025 in petrol, currently it is 10%. This measure will reduce the debt burden on farmers as a result sugar stocks are to grow,” said Dalmia. Sugar companies witness a sweet rally on ethanol excitement that may continue in 2022 as well

New Delhi, Feb 10 () Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, India's largest sugar manufacturer, on Monday said its net loss narrowed to Rs 46.35 crore on a consolidated basis during the third quarter of 2019-20 on the back of higher income. The company had reported a net loss of Rs 186.97 crore during the December quarter of 2018-19, the company said in a filing to the BSE. Net income increased to Rs 1,726.53 crore during the third quarter of current fiscal from Rs 1,693.89 crore in the year-ago period. However, the company's expenses in the said quarter remained lower at Rs 1,772.88 crore as against Rs 1,880.86 crore in the year-ago quarter. Bajaj Hindusthan has 14 sugar mills with cane crushing capacity of 1.36 lakh tonnes per day and alcohol distillation capacity of 800 kilolitre per day. The company's share fell 0.64 per cent to settle at Rs 6.23 a piece on the BSE. LUX RUJ

Bajaj Hindusthan Q3 net loss narrows to Rs 46.35 cr

As a philanthropist, Jamnalal Bajaj opened the first temple to the downtrodden, now 100 years old. While he never saw his cherished dream of an independent India, dying five years before Independence Day celebrations in 1947, his principles and convictions have been passed down through generations. 
 His legacy is presently in the care of Shishir Bajaj, chairman and managing director of <keyword id="3233878" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bajaj-Hindusthan-Sugar-Company">Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Company</keyword>, the largest in Asia and fifth largest in the world. The principles that his grandfather learned under Gandhi have been applied to this large industrial business, one that almost qualifies as a regional government in scale and impact. 
 
Jamnalal Bajaj saw at an early stage that there was a need for new companies to feed the economic challenges of building a new nation. He formed the sugar company in 1931. 
 
"Because my grandfather was too busy with the freedom movement, he set up the business and let my father run it," says Shishir Bajaj, a member of <a href="http://www.ypo.org/">Young Presidents’ Organization</a> since 1987. And in a move that predates Bill Gates and Warren Buffett's Giving Pledge campaign by 80 years, Jamnalal Bajaj formed a trust for the wealth because he didn't want to own more than he needed. Two foundations, the Kamalnayan Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation and Jamnalal Kaniram Bajaj Trust now support more than 100,000 families in 701 villages, positively affecting the lives of more than 615,000 individuals within the Wardha and Sikar districts. 
 
In keeping with the family tradition of social change, Shishir Bajaj's son Kushagra Bajaj suggested the formation of an action plan five years ago that scaled the company's social good onto a much larger platform. 
 
"The number of villages we'd like to cover in the next five years is 1,000," says Shishir Bajaj. "There are about 700 districts in India, and if we can capture just two, I think it will be a seriously good achievement." 
 
As the most populous country on earth with slightly more than 1.2 billion people, two districts is not the small number some would imagine. 
 
Some of the projects Shishir Bajaj is involved in include sustainable agricultural practices and women's self-help groups. A water resource project has seen 82 rivers deepened, 74 miles of riverbed rejuvenated and schools built at seven of the 10 sugar factories. 
 
As Gandhi has said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

The downgrading of <keyword id="6355226" type="COUNTRY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Brazil">Brazil</keyword>’s sovereign rating by US agency <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Standard+%26+Poor">Standard &amp; Poor</a>'s to "junk" status might hit a dozen of Indian companies that have significant exposure to the Brazilian market. 
 
These companies might see their stocks come under pressure on the bourses due to the weakness in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Brazilian+economy">Brazilian economy</a>. 
 Moreover the US rating agency said mounting political turmoil and the difficulties faced by President <keyword id="440692" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dilma-Rousseff">Dilma Rousseff</keyword>'s government in tackling growing debt was the main reason behind the downgrade. 
 The Indian companies, which have sizeable exposure to the Brazilian market, include United Phosphorous and <keyword id="6773472" type="COMPANY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Torrent-Pharma">Torrent Pharma</keyword>, whose revenue shares from this market go into double digits, besides Glenmark, KEC International, <keyword id="107782" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rallis-India">Rallis India</keyword>, Cadila, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Tata+Motors">Tata Motors</a>, Havells India and <keyword id="6357150" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="TCS">TCS</keyword>. 
 There are also others like Lupin, <keyword id="44642" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sun-Pharma">Sun Pharma</keyword> (through Ranbaxy), <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Godrej">Godrej</a> Consumers, <keyword id="6359783" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Bajaj-Auto">Bajaj Auto</keyword>, MM Forgings, <keyword id="73067" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Praj-Industries">Praj Industries</keyword> (has a Petrobas order) and ONGC, which generate 2-3% of their total revenues from Brazil. 
 
Let’s see what happened after the US rating agency downgraded Brazil: Ø Stocks of companies with revenue exposure or investment plans in Brazil fell in Thursday's trade. Oil and Natural Gas Corp and <keyword id="6354248" type="CITY" weightage="40" keywordseo="Videocon">Videocon</keyword> Industries, which have heavy investments in Brazil's oil and gas sector, fell 2.36% and 0.7%, respectively. 
 
Ø Shree Renuka Sugars, which made acquisitions in Brazil recently, fell 1.6%. UPL plunged 4.5%. 
 
Ø Torrent Pharma dropped 3%, Glenmark Pharma fell 1.9%, while Cadila Healthcare was down half a per cent. 
 
Ø Lupin declined 2%, while Sun Pharma was down 0.3%. KEC International slipped 2.3%, while Rallis India was trading flat. Praj Industries and MM Forgings fell 2.6% each. 
 
In April 2008, Brazil was awarded an investment-grade rating by the US rating agency. At that time the country's economy was on rise. However, sliding commodity prices and austerity have created a recession. 
 
Earlier this week, economist said Brazil's <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Gross+Domestic+Product+">Gross Domestic Product</a> is expected to contract by 2.3% and the nation will have to borrow to cover all its interest payments (if interest payments are included, the total deficit this year is projected to be 8-9%). 
 
The faster-than-anticipated downgrade of the nation from investment grade will likely rock Brazilian financial markets and increase borrowing costs for the government and Brazilian companies.

Why TCS and Tata Motors stand to lose from Brazil’s rating downgrade to ‘Junk’ status

<ul><li>Two mompreneurs started <keyword id="3893684" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="dabble" source="Orion">Dabble</keyword>, which produces child-friendly, toxin-free and development-friendly products for art and play. </li><li>It was incubated at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore’s flagship business incubator. </li><li>Despite low sales, the founders’ vision and quality of products left the sharks impressed.</li></ul>When it comes to creating safe and fun products for children, moms really do know best. At least, that was the case when mompreneurs Neha Bajaj and Karen Saldanha appeared on <keyword id="11924074" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="shark-tank-india" source="Orion">Shark Tank India</keyword> S2 to pitch their startup Dabble. Dabble produces child-friendly, toxin-free and development-friendly products for art and play, which are made from natural and safe ingredients like organic beeswax, natural waxes, coconut oil, etc. Founded in 2017, the Bangalore-based startup was incubated at NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore’s flagship business incubator. “When we parents try to inspire creativity in our children, we buy art products for them. But when children try to become creative, we act like the traffic police. Why? For the safety of our children,” shared Saldanha on the show. Impressed by their product and vision, Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal offered to come on board as a third partner. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Cooking more than just food!" comment="subhead2" text="Cooking more than just food!">Cooking more than just food!</cmsannotation> Bajaj and Saldanha are both moms of children aged below 10. Saldanha holds an MBA degree in management and finance from the School of Communication and Management Studies, Cochin. She has worked with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and PlatinumOne Learning Solutions in the past. Bajaj, on the other hand, is a photographer who has worked with publications like Lonely Planet, Travel &amp; Leisure, and others. She graduated with a degree in journalism from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, before pursuing a Master’s in photography from Light &amp; Life Academy, Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. Bajaj and Saldanha <a href="https://yourstory.com/2021/04/the-turning-point-art-startup-dabble">met </a>at an expressive art therapy course in Bengaluru and became friends. Inspired by their own search for locally available safe art products, the two started Dabble in Bajaj’s kitchen - experimenting with various organic and natural materials. The experimentation continued with the duo commissioning a food technologist and cosmetologist to develop the formulations. Ultimately, in 2019, Dabble sold its first product. Dabble, which started with crayons and finger paints, currently has 10 products for children aged 1 and above - art accessories like glue, canvas board, etc. along with art &amp; craft kits and combo sets. The products are available on the company website and marketplaces like Amazon and FirstCry. The paint brushes are ergonomically designed to make them easier for children to hold and use. Apart from regular crayons, Dabble also produces crayons in different shapes that are fun to play with. The products are designed keeping in mind the emotional and mental needs of children and are safe enough to cause no harm, even if children accidentally ingest them, claimed the founders. “We are the first company in India to have printed the entire list of our ingredients on our packaging…We decided to take this step as mothers, to build transparency,” shared Saldanha on the show. Dabble achieved sales of ₹17 lakh in FY20, ₹14 lakh in FY21, and ₹47.5 lakh in FY22. Sales are not strong, so I’m out. But I think you have a great product,” remarked Thapar. However, Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal made an offer to go on board as a third partner, and not just as an investor. He thus offered ₹50 lakh for 33.33% equity in the company. This valued the company at ₹1.5 crore. “I can give you ₹50 lakh but I'll come in as the one-third part. I’m not at all giving a valuation to the company. I want to be somebody who can come in as a business partner and help your business move in the right direction, and subsequently, scale up,” remarked Mittal. While Sugar Cosmetics co-founder Vineeta Singh also backed out, boAt co-founder Aman Gupta offered an equity-and-debt deal – ₹15 lakh investment for 10% equity with ₹35 lakh debt at 0% interest. This also valued the company at ₹1.5 crore. “I can’t be your co-founder where I want one-third of your share. I don’t want to run your company,” shared Gupta. Both Gupta and Mittal tried convincing the founders on which deal was better. Ultimately though, the founders agreed to Gupta’s offer - an investment of ₹15 lakh for 10% equity with ₹35 lakh debt at no interest. The index opened higher and later jumped 513.29 points or 0.88 per cent to a day's high of 58,578.76 on gains in metal, FMCG, IT and oil stocks. However, profit booking in select banking and teck stocks in the closing session trimmed the gains. The broader <keyword id="372424" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="nse-nifty" source="Orion">NSE Nifty</keyword> advanced 57.50 points or 0.33 per cent to end at 17,331.80 as 27 of its shares ended in the green. Among Sensex shares, Tata Steel, Larsen &amp; Toubro, ICICI Bank, HCL Technologies, Infosys and Axis Bank were among the winners. However, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, IndusInd Bank, HDFC and Bajaj Finance were among the laggards. <keyword id="224336" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vinod-nair" source="Orion">Vinod Nair</keyword>, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services said, "The Indian market is maintaining its resilience despite mixed cues from global equities and surging oil prices. Both domestic and foreign investors are supporting the rally." The market was also bolstered by expectations on Q2 results session, with improvement in sectors like metal, IT, and realty, Nair added. "Weakness in European indices and <keyword id="90570" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="sgx-nifty" source="Orion">SGX Nifty</keyword> slipping into the red prompted investors to cut their bullish bets. But key domestic benchmarks still ended in the green thanks to traders betting big on IT, metal and realty stocks. "However, inflationary concerns worldwide and central banks hiking interest rates persistently has spooked markets and kept investors on tenterhooks on worries of a global slowdown," <keyword id="131488" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shrikant-chouhan" source="Orion">Shrikant Chouhan</keyword>, Head of Equity Research (Retail), Kotak Securities Ltd, said. In the broader market, the BSE smallcap gauge jumped 1.30 per cent and midcap index climbed 1.13 per cent. Among the BSE sectoral indices, metal jumped 3.89 per cent, capital goods (2.34 per cent), realty (2.15 per cent), industrials (1.96 per cent), commodities (1.67 per cent) and power (1.61 per cent). FMCG and telecommunication were the laggards. Elsewhere in Asia, markets in Seoul and Tokyo ended higher, while Shanghai and Hong Kong settled lower. Stock exchanges in Europe were trading in the negative territory in mid-session deals. The US markets ended marginally lower on Wednesday. The domestic equity markets were closed on Wednesday for the Dussehra festival. In the previous session on Tuesday, the BSE benchmark had jumped 1,276.66 points or 2.25 per cent to settle at 58,065.47. The Nifty rallied 386.95 points or 2.29 per cent to end at 17,274.30. Meanwhile, the international oil benchmark Brent crude futures climbed 0.14 per cent to 93.50 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors were net buyers as they bought shares worth Rs 1,344.63 crore on Tuesday, according to data available with BSE.
