The bike will run on CNG and would hit the roads in June, he said while announcing <keyword id="20201280" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bajaj-group" source="keywords">Bajaj Group</keyword>'s commitment of Rs 5,000 crore towards <keyword id="19916939" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="corporate-social-responsibility" source="keywords">Corporate Social Responsibility</keyword> (CSR) spent over the next 5 years. The new bike would target mileage-conscious consumers and is expected to launch under a different brand. It is expected that CNG bikes will be priced higher than their petrol counterparts due to the higher cost of manufacturing besides having a special tank to offer petrol and CNG fuel options to offer convenience to customers. Maruti reports highest ever sales in August, Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto decline

TVS Motor’s Q4 net profit jumps 49% on year to ₹410 crore

All the automakers have delivered growth in profitability and sales. This is reflected in the overall growth of the domestic two wheeler industry in FY23, which rose 17% on year after three years of decline. The industry clocked sales of 15.86 million units in FY23 from 13.57 million in the last fiscal year, according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) However, reports say that the segment is still at a nine year low. Among the three players, Bajaj Auto has reported poor performance in the March quarter although it managed to grow on a yearly basis. Bajaj Auto’s Q4 standalone net profit fell 2% on year to ₹1,433 crore. Rising input costs and shrinking exports ate into the two-wheeler maker's volumes as well as bottomline, even as the company’s topline expanded by 12% to ₹8,905 crore during the quarter. In fact, analysts believe it may continue to underperform its peers because of weak presence in the domestic market. “Even so, we believe the company would underperform peers such as Eicher Motors (12% growth in FY24E) and TVS Motors (10% growth). Bajaj Auto’s underperformance is likely to persist owing to its weak presence in scooters in the domestic market, not to mention its large exposure to overseas markets,” said a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities. Stress of rising input costs in FY23 was clearly visible – Bajaj Auto’s input costs rose by nearly 9% to ₹24,073 crore, eating into its profits. Further, the company said that in the coming fiscal year, it has lined up a slew of product launches in different segments with an aim to strengthen its premium portfolio as well as premiumisation of existing models, which will help deliver improvement in market share. On the other hand, TVS Motor outperformed the other two and registered 67% on year growth in net profit along with sharp 140 basis points expansion in operating margin as well. After posting strong March-quarter earnings, the shares of the motorcycle manufacturer hit a 52-week high at ₹1,235, up nearly 6% on Friday. The management said that it expects to outperform the industry in both domestic and export segments due to demand recovery led by the premium and electric vehicle (EV) segment. “With supply challenges now largely over, we expect TVS’ outperformance to continue on the back of the ramp-up of its launches. Even in EVs, it seems to be ahead of its listed peers with a strong product pipeline in place for the next 24 months; it has signed up with industry experts and joint venture partners to emerge as a leading player in EVs,” said a report by HDFC Securities. FY23 Scorecard: TVS Motor fares better than Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp on profits and margins

On a sequential basis its net profit went up by 30% due to rise in realisations and currency gains. Total revenue from operations for the quarter grew 16% to ₹10,202 crore from a year ago. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, it rose 28% in the July-September quarter. The company surpassed the ₹10,000 crore quarterly revenue milestone for the first time. Analysts believe that Bajaj Auto reported healthy performance in 2QFY23, but expects turbulence ahead in its exports business amid a slowdown in a few geographies. “In view of significant cut in high margin exports business, slower recovery in domestic business, market share loss domestically and in overseas coupled, at present we have SELL rating on BJAUT, while post management's commentary on exports outlook, we would revisit our recommendation,” said Mitul Shah, head of research at Reliance Securities. The company informed exchanges that this was a record quarter with revenue and EBITDA. According to the company, “At ₹10,203 crore, quarterly revenue from operations surpasses the ₹10,000 crores milestone for the first time.” Its operating margins also expanded 100 basis points from the previous quarter. However, its exports witnessed a drop due to “deteriorating macros in overseas markets”, the company said. Bajaj Auto’s Q2 net profit up 20% but analysts expect more pain in exports

<keyword id="6359783" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bajaj-auto" source="Orion">Bajaj Auto</keyword> Ltd is ramping up <keyword id="22637" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="production" source="Orion">production</keyword> of its electric scooter <keyword id="409918" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chetak" source="Orion">Chetak</keyword> to touch around 10,000 units a month by June, having overcome supply chain constraints as it gradually expands the sales network of the brand, according to a senior company official. The company plans to have around 150 exclusive outlets for the Chetak electric scooter by September, and is taking a calibrated expansion keeping in mind the uncertainty over the extension of FAME II scheme for promotion of electric vehicles beyond this fiscal. "We are trying to get to 10,000 (units) by June. It is a supply chain issue," <keyword id="6358511" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="bajaj" source="Orion">Bajaj</keyword> <keyword id="32870" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="auto" source="Orion">Auto</keyword> Executive Director Rakesh Sharma said here on the sidelines of opening of an exclusive Chetak showroom. The company has reached 5,000 units at present and next month, it will try to get to 7,000 units, he said, adding after that Bajaj Auto would assess how the demand is coming to plan future production roadmap. Sharma said the company had faced problems earlier due to over dependence on certain vendors, who could not supply some parts. "That we sorted out by the first quarter and it is giving us some confidence...," he said. Bajaj Auto Urbanite Business Unit President Eric Vas said the company had suffered production constraints due to the transition to the new battery norm AIS 156B, which came into effect from April 1 for enhanced safety. The constraints have been resolved to a large extent. "So, we think we will be back to normal production, in terms of production meeting our requirements of the number of stores we are opening possibly by middle to end of May and after that it is purely driven by what we want, we will get," he added. At present, the waiting period for Chetak is around 20 to 25 days, Vas said, adding, from May onwards, it would come down to three to five days. On network expansion, Vas said Chetak sales network currently spans across 88 towns through 105 dealerships. "By September, we hope to have around 150 exclusive outlets in 120 towns," he said, adding, the company would look at the market and calibrate again for expansion beyond these. Vas said a key factor for taking such an approach is the uncertainty over the continuation of the FAME II scheme, which was extended till March 31, 2024. "One of the things which we should have better clarity on sometime by September is what happens to FAME II after March (2024). I think a lot of things depend on that output," he said. When asked if FAME II scheme should be continued, he said the industry is of the opinion that cost of EVs will go up significantly if the subsidy is stopped and manufacturers could not afford to fully absorb the increased prices. "I think prices will go up. It will stop the growth of the industry and that is why I'm saying we (Bajaj Auto) need to calibrate very carefully when we're opening (new stores for Chetak)," Vas said. When asked about the outlook for fiscal 2023-24, Sharma said, if the supply holds out and the demand keeps picking up, along with the network expansion, Bajaj Auto could touch a total of 1 lakh electric two-wheelers between Chetak and what it supplies to electric mobility platform Yulu.
