But none were more important than the results of the world’s largest democratic exercise, the Lok Sabha election, according to Google’s Year in Search 2019 report. It’s not the just the Lok Sabha election results that people were avidly searching for online — but also the election results of the Maharashtra assembly election and the Haryana Assembly elections. The practice began under the British administration of India. The British administrators held that the legal owner of a temple’s land and wealth was the deity, with a shebait or manager acting as trustee. Much like a corporation and its directors. However, one cannot place a deity and bestow it with wealth and property. For a deity to be considered a legal entity only “when it is consecrated and installed at a public place for the public at large,” according to the judgement in the Yogendra Nath Naskar vs Commissioner Of Income-Tax (1969) case.  These are the key highlights of the order being read out: 1. Hindus get the possession of the disputed site in Ayodhya for a Ram temple. Possession of disputed 2.77 acre land will remain with Central government receiver. SC asks centre to frame scheme within 3 months and set up a trust for construction of a temple. 2. Alternate land should be allotted to the Muslims for a mosque. The Allahabad High Court was wrong in dividing the disputed Ayodhya site into three parts. 3. The government has to set up a trust that will enforce the Court's judgement. 4. Ram Janmabhoomi (birthplace of Lord Rama) is not a juristic person and therefore filed by Nirmohi Akhara is barred by limitation. However, the Akhara that has sought the management rights to the temple may get adequate representation going forward, if the government deems fit. 5. The report from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), which cited the presence of a tenth-century structure beneath the Babri Masjid, has been upheld. But the court highlighted the fact that ASI refrained from recording a finding on whether mosque was built after demolishing a Hindu temple. As it stood at the Supreme Court, there are 50 parties in the case but the broad issue is whether there should be a temple or a mosque in the disputed site or should the land be divided among the sparring parties as ruled by the Allahabad High Court in 2010. Today, the Supreme Court has quashed the Allahabad High Court verdict, which divided the Ayodhya title into three equal parts between the Nirmohi Akhara, Lord Ram-- the deity represented by Triloki Nath Pandey (an RSS volunteer and Vishva Hindu Parishad functionary)-- and the Sunni Waqf Board. All three parties moved the Supreme Court against the order. Reaction of the Muslim side The Muslim side has expressed its displeasure with the Supreme Court verdict. While they agree with the parts of the verdict, they disagree with the handing over of the disputed site to the Hindus. Zafaryab Jilani, a litigant from the Muslim side, representing the Sunni Waqf Board, said that the verdict is "neither justice nor equity". "We are not satisfied with the judgement and the court has reached some wrong conclusions. We will go through the judgement to decide the future course of action... but SC verdict has to be respected. Everyone must remain calm," Jilani said adding that they are yet to decide whether they will move a review petition. Modi may not take the fall for rising unemployment in India, latest opinion poll shows

An Indian-American woman, who raised her voice against alleged discrimination in admission of Asians in IV League schools, has announced that she will run for US House of Representatives, saying she wants to be a "voice, not a noise" for the community particularly the Hindus in the US. Andhra Pradesh-born Manga Anantatmula, who worked as a federal government contractor in defence acquisitions programme management, has already become a presumptive nominee of Republican party from the 11th Congressional District of Virginia, making her the first Indian origin candidate to run for the House of Representatives from there. Said to be a Democratic strong bastion, the 11th Congressional District comprises mostly of the affluent Fairfax County on the outskirts of Washington DC, has about 17 per cent Asian population, including an estimated 7 per cent Indian Americans. Asian Americans, including Indian-Americans normally support Democratic party candidates, but she hopes to turn the tide in the November Congressional elections by defeating six-term incumbent Congressman Gerry Connolly. Political pundits call it a tall order. "This time a large number of Democratic party supporters are moving towards the Republican party because of the current political situation and due to the successful policies of President Donald Trump," Anantatmula, who filed her nominations on January 26, told . Anantatmula, who will formally launch her Congressional Campaign on Saturday from Herndon, a Virginia suburb of Washington DC, is a great supporter of President Donald Trump. For campaign purposes, she has expanded her first name Manga as "Making Americans Great Again". Running her campaign on the platform of reducing taxes, equal rights for women, helping the growth of small and medium business and affordable healthcare, Anantatmula says if elected to the House of Representatives she will strive to strengthen India-US relationship. Anantatmula, in her interview, said that she considers herself as one among a new generation of Indian American and Hindu American leaders who do not become pawns in a globalist ideological agenda that undermines their own integrity as well as the national interests of their adoptive homeland. Slamming Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, the first ever Indian American woman to be elected to House of Representatives, for tabling a resolution on Kashmir in the Congress, Anantatmula said such a move has caused "dismay" in the community. "I will be your voice, not a noise," Anantatmula says in her outreach to Indian American and Hindu community. In her recent tweets she has supported India's stand on Kashmir and recently enacted Citizenship Amendment Act and building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. "She (Jayapal) is anti-India. She has no compassion for Kashmiri Hindus," she alleged. "I will support a strategy to build a global alliance to defeat terrorism," Anantatmula said, asserting that India and the US are natural partners in fight against terrorism. She had recently joined the Indian American community when they held a demonstration outside the Pakistani Embassy here against Pakistan's support to terrorist activities in India. "I am the only Indian American who continues to fight the discrimination in admission in IV League Schools," she said, adding that her fight resulted in 25 per cent more admissions of Indian American students in 2019. She has also been critical of recent stand of the US Commission for International Religious Freedom on India. "Leaving behind an affluent life in India, my little boy and I accompanied my husband to the US in early 1990s in pursuit of his graduate and doctoral degrees, an American dream. We chose Northern Virginia as our new home for its school system and standard of living, and lived in Fairfax County," she said. What exactly is a leap year? According to US space agency Nasa, it takes approximately 365.25 days for Earth to orbit the Sun - a solar year. The extra quarter of a day is generally rounded off in a calendar year. To make up for the missing partial day, one day is added to the calendar approximately every four years. That is a leap year. Without the existence of a leap year, the world could end up witnessing wuthering winters in July or sultry summers in December. The excitement doesn't wane with the passage of time. Birthday boy <keyword id="20774200" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="probir-dasgupta" source="keywords">Probir Dasgupta</keyword>, a Delhi-based media consult, doesn't believe in celebrating birthdays but enjoys whatever the family organises on March 1 when it is not a leap year. It makes me feel younger," said Dasgupta, who turns 72 this year or a young adult of 18 in leap years. "Actual birthdays are different, it feels more real. I feel wiser not older." "Generally I celebrate my birthday on both February 28 and March 1, but the celebration and excitement is multifold when it is February 29. It feels special on that day," the 28-year-old said. A native of Ayodhya, Yadav seldom observed birthdays growing up, making the day particularly exciting for him now. "I never celebrated my birthday before coming to Delhi in 2016. Now, my friends get more excited for my birthday than me," he added. While 'leap day babies' like Pant, Yadav and Behere have their own special way of celebrating the rare day, Liz Duren from South Carolina in the US enjoys her tradition of throwing children's birthday parties, as reported by the New York Post. The 55-year-old podcaster and local historian plans to throw an "ET-themed" party, based on the Hollywood film featuring a friendly alien. "When I turned 44, I threw my 10th birthday party. I had a magician and games," the news portal quoted her as saying. But the leap year baby club is largely a lonely one as people born on this special day rarely find fellow leapers. Pant, for example, has met only one such person when she was 12 - an accounting personnel at her school. "While filling out some paperwork, he noticed my birthday and excitedly asked, 'you are also 29 born? We felt so excited and happy to meet because it is a rare coincidence," Pant said. Although she is not in touch with "sir" anymore, she remembers the feeling fondly. There are also a few lucky ones like Lana and Robyn McKeon from Dublin, Ireland. According to the Irish Independent news website, the siblings were born on February 29 but four years apart.
